  • ...with some honorable mentions.
There have been some bad football teams in the NFL since 1966, but who are the ten worst. We explore.
    Explanation of C-Score:
C-Score is a metric created by this channel to assign an overall value to a football team. It takes a team's:
-Results, including standard and Pythagorean W-L record
-Performance, including game control and play-by-play production
-Quality of opponents, specifically performance level against opponents
and distills all of that into one cumulative and comparative score reflecting the context of the season in question. When applicable, a team's playoff performance is also included.
A C-Score of 0 represents an average football team, whereas anything above 0 represents an above average team and anything below 0 represents a below average team.
A team's record is important, but not always indicative of C-Score. An 11-5 team can rate higher than a 13-3 team or lower than a 9-7 team. Not all records are created equally.

The Browns were 3-13, 1-15 and then 0-16. That is a terrible streak. This is a game where wins are all that matters.

Everyone talks about the Browns and Lions... thhey were far more competant compared to that terrible 76 Bucs team. It's remarkable how much they were outclassed on every given week. And McKay was a funny dude.

I'm surprised the Saints 1980 season didn't make this list...0-14 until they beat the Jets by one point in old Shea Stadium in the snow, then lost to go 1-15 overall...held the record for the largest lead choked up in a regular season game until 2022 (the Colts are the gift that keeps on giving!) and is often credited as the game that gave birth to the 80s 49ers dynasty!

The season where the Lions went 0-16, I swear the Refs 'stole' a Win from the Lions that year with a bad call.

Under your C-score, I wonder if the 2012 Chiefs are worse than the two 0-16 teams... one of those two wins was the Javon Belcher game. Good video... every time I come across one, I usually watch until the end, so I subscribed.

@@cccproductions2019One person apparently told me that “Who cares if the Rams are the worst defending super bowl champions. Nobody is going to talk about them. People don’t talk about the 2012 Chiefs or 2022 Brady” when I mentioned the 2022 Rams as being the worst defending super bowl champions in NFL history.

How are the 1977 Bucs not on this list?
In 14 games the Bucs scored 103 points. The Defense scored 28 of those points. Meaning the Bucs offense scored 75 Points in 14 games.
In the first 12 games of the season the Bucs Offense score 46 points(53 total).
Here is the combined stats of the QBs that played for the Bucs that year.
    131 Completions
    321 Attempts
    40.8 Completion %
    1,714 Yards
    3 TDs
    30 INTs
    22.5 QB Rating
48 Sacks for 445 Yards (to put this into perspective Ricky Bell was the leading rusher for the Bucs in 1977, he rushed for 436 yards)
    4 Fumbles Lost
It should be no surprise the 1977 Bucs have the worst QB to ever play the game, Randy Hedberg. Here are his career stats for the one year he played
    25 Completions
    90 Attempts
    27.8 Completion %
    244 Yards
    0 TDs
    10 INTs (1 Pick 6)
19 Yards was his longest completion
    0.0 QB Rating
    15 Sacks for 131 Yards
    2 Fumbles Lost
Granted the Defense was really, really good this year, imagine having an offense that turned the ball of 46 times in 14 games and still finishing 12th overall in points allowed and 13th in Yards Allowed. On top of that, they finished 8th overall in Turnovers by getting the ball back 41 times.
Yet they were 0-12 after 12 games, that Offense was the worst ever and just because of them they deserve a spot on this list.

Thank you for watching! You're not wrong, they were terrible, but they had an above average defense. These teams in the top ten were the worst of the worst across the board.

They didn't win until the last two weeks of their second season in 1977.
26 straight losses , 0-14 in 76 and they lost the first 12 games in 77.

I thought for sure the 2007 Dolphins and 2023 Panthers would make the list. Dolphins had one win, and it was in OT. Panthers had two wins, both on walk-off field goals, and failed to score an extra point or 2 point conversion in either. Or maybe the 2012 Texans, who started the season 2-0 but ended it 2-14, or the 2020 Jaguars, who started the season 1-0 but ended it 1-15.

the issue with those fins is they lost like, 6 or 7 1 score games.
they coulda been 7-9 or 8-8. not that that is good, but better than what that roster was.

CCC productions considers the 2019 Dolphins & the 2010 Panthers much worse than the 2007 Dolphins & 2023 Panthers. Same with the 2005 Texans & 2012 Jaguars.

good video- but the whole point is to win- so if you go 0-16 you ARE the worst- close doesn't count- who you played doesn't count. NEED TO WIN

I agree the only stat that matters are wins and loses. If the top teams are teh list are not winless it is a pointless list. because the better team wins the the game - otherwise there is no point to playing to game

    • @SgtHolton
      @SgtHolton Месяц назад

@@architect011_3 This isn't soccer where every team gets to play every other team twice. Some teams have to play against good competition, and other teams don't. That means something when you're actually trying to determine which teams would win or lose in a head-to-head matchup, not just talk narrative-ball.

I still to this day don't know how that team won three games.
But yeah I've seen some other pretty bad things that are obviously on this list.

  • @SteveWhite-wv2wk

So, you're going with the 2 expansion team's first season instead of Tom Landry's last season as Dallas Head Coach and/ or the first season of Jimmy Johnson as Dallas Head Coach when the team went 3 and 13, followed by 1 and 15, respectively. Low hanging fruit vs. "America's Team"? Really?

    • @SgtHolton
      @SgtHolton Месяц назад

It's a statistical analysis, not a list of narratives. He's just showing you the outputs of an excel sheet, and the 76 Bucs were the worst team ever because they not only lost every game, they lost every game by an average of three touchdowns. That's a worse team than the 89 Cowboys, who lost by an average margin of about 11 points per game and were in a very tough division. There are a lot of pro football teams that have only won 2 or fewer games in a season, some of them were worse than others.
