  • Some teams fall pretty hard from one season to another. We take a look at ten biggest single season drop offs in the NFL during the Super Bowl era.

    Explanation of C-Score:
C-Score is a metric created by this channel to assign an overall value to a football team. It takes a team's:
-Results, including standard and Pythagorean W-L record
-Performance, including game control and play-by-play production
-Quality of opponents, specifically performance level against opponents
and distills all of that into one cumulative and comparative score reflecting the context of the season in question. When applicable, a team's playoff performance is also included.
A C-Score of 0 represents an average football team, whereas anything above 0 represents an above average team and anything below 0 represents a below average team.
A team's record is important, but not always indicative of C-Score. An 11-5 team can rate higher than a 13-3 team or lower than a 9-7 team. Not all records are created equally.

    I'm surprised the 2021-2022 L.A. Rams aren't on here?

Not mentioned in video, 49ers drop off is contributing to the ownership change. DeBartaolo was forced to sell/trade ownership of 49ers with his sister Denise DeBartaolo-York. The first thing her and her husband (John) York was to cut payroll. A lot of players were released. So begins the 49ers unstable ownership years. Power struggles GM/HC replacing rivals the years of the Cleveland Browns. 49ers even had 4 different HC in 4 consecutive years (which I no not believe has ever happened before). Ownership is somewhat more stable since Denise/John York transferred ownership to Jed. Somewhat more stable since Shanahan/Lynch regime. Count up the years of DeBartaolo ownership with that of York ownership. 9 years out of 24 years a playoff appearance since Yorks. The DeBartaolo years had 5 years out of 23 with a losing record (4 of those are the first 4 years of ownership). Since 1977-1980 the 49ers never had a losing record (other than the 1982 strike year).

Good explanation of the 1999 49ers. That was the first time in my life where I ever saw the 49ers suck.

Kind of surprised not to see: 2010 Vikings, 2011 Colts, 2018 Jaguars, 2005 Eagles

2010 Vikings and 2018 Jaguars was more just due to underachievement
2005 Eagles and 2011 Colts were more due to injury and you can especially say that with the 2011 Colts

@@JWex-jy7skThat’s probably why the 2022 Rams aren’t on this list. They are on the top spot for worst defending super bowl champions however. Should Injuries have been counted?

The 1994 Houston Oilers collapse started a franchise decline that didn't resolve itself until the team moved to Nashville and was rechristened the Tennessee Titans. Like Cleveland, Houston got a second chance, this time as the Texans, but both have underachieved in the 21st century to say the least. Also, the 2007 Ravens were the only team to lose to the Miami Dolphins that season. Had Baltimore won, Miami would have had the distinction as a dual perfect team - nothing but winning (1972) and nothing but losing (2007).

Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoy the imperialism videos. They're definitely fun to make, but it's quite a long series. As mentioned at the end of the 04 video and in its description, it was always meant to come out in three separate "seasons" so to speak. 66-85 was the first, then 86-04, then it'll be 05-24. I will not abandon them though. For one thing, I wanna know who wins those seasons as much as anyone else. Hope you're willing to give the rest of my channel a chance!
