The diagram really painted a picture in my mind, thank you
Messed up the intro music, whoops. 😂
I admit I kinda like it messed up
I was wondering about that. First I thought you changed it again.
Kinda like it. Happy Accident. :)
@@archer666 I still miss the after hours intro song.
i kinda liked it. love your videos man, keep up the good work
Dark humor is a way of dealing with really bad shit. It preserves sanity.
HAHAHA
Officer 401 casually flexing his drawing skills on everyone... 😏😏
A regular Picasso! Lmao
Probably the same one he used in the report. It’s more technical reference than art.
3:25 Crunch under your toes? Doesn't your department require you to wear shoes.
Larry Fisherman Yes, of course! How else would bugs crunch under your toes.
@@larryfisherman6449 SWOOOOSH joke went right over your head
Wait swoosh 3 pointer

Wooooosh
What about the angriest you've ever been on a call? Also... if I'd seen that hazmat guy slip, I would've lost it. I wouldn't have just been laughing, I'd be flat out guffawing
It most likely was when he broke into a car to save the baby and the Mother was on the super Market... He said he was a drill instractor That Day
If I had to guess based off of a previous video I'd say the maddest he's ever been is when he responded to a call of a crying baby locked in a hot car he smashed the window in the front seat to unlock the door and open up the back door to get the baby out and then the mother comes out and she's all mad because her car window is broken. He said if you heard him yelling at her you would have thought he was completely insane.
I'm not Officer401, but I was a volunteer firefighter for a while and heard stories about the babysitter "turning for a second to grab a phone" and a kid falling into a pool. Babysitter can't swim, so they call 911 and the kid is pulled up and revived. I just know I'd be livid.
@@SheepdogSmokey I would be the same man
Same feeling when you think about someone locked in a hot car, or a pet, I seem to think I'd not be thinking much at all, just acting.
You already told this story. It’s okay your forgiven
Chris Jackson
You're *
Funny i must have a horrible memory too then and i don't remember this story!
He's mentioned that dead bodies smell but hasn't ever told the whole story.
Leave this entertaining story for the new subscribers :)
Well it’s a good thing my memory is ass too
You have done this topic but it’s a good story every time!
Daniel Chaloux I don’t think that this is a “good story” lmao
@@asherslain3287 you. Are absolutely right. It's a great story 😏
Brother?
Once you smell death, its something you just never forget.
Back in my younger days, I worked maintenance in a hospital. Pulled a work order to change some light bulbs in the autopsy staging room. The room where the bodies are laying on the gurney covered with a sheet. Complete with toe tags. It was me and a older black guy that I had worked with, on the graveyard shift, for almost a year. So, we're in the room, lights out, with a ladder and a flashlight, ladder and eight bulbs. The other guy climbs the ladder. Pulls the old bulbs out of the light. Hands them to me and out of the corner of his eye see's one of the bodies sit straight up on a table from the stomach muscles contracting. The sheet falls off the dudes face and the old guy jumps off the ladder and is sprinting, actually sprinting, back to the shop. After I finished laughing and changing the lights I went to the shop. There he was, cussing me to no end. Saying I did that just to scare him. I laughed for days about that and when he would get pissy I'd just say we have to go change some bulbs in the holding room again. I've never seen a black guy turn white like I did that nite!!!!!!!
Raymon Bullard 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I would have shit my pants if I saw that
Why did he cuss you out, you didn't make the body move... or was it cos you were laughing at him that he got pissed?
What’s the most heartwarming story?
The most heart warming story is blowing a guys head off and getting 2 weeks paid vaca
Or most rewarding call???

Really?
I'd like to see this video too.
yes, could do with that after this one, haha
That diagram is better than what I draw.
Holy shit, thanks for the heart
Buffalo Railfan agreed
My dad was dispatched to a suicide that washed up to a local park. At that time, some police cars were station wagons equipped with stretchers, and officers, as a matter of course, would have to pick up people to go to the hospital, or to the morgue. Since he had seniority over the accompanying officer, my father picked up the legs, and the other officer had to pick the guy up by the shoulders. The officer was facing the decedent, and was lifting the guy by lifting from behind the guy's shoulders....he should have thought his technique out a little better, because as he lifted, the dead guy's bloated arms moved right around the officer and hugged him. My dad claimed that after the officer screamed, he simultaneously turned green. Once my father regained his composure after falling down laughing, they took the guy away...after a better plan for moving the man was formulated...
Everyone needs a friend, even a bloated water corpse.
By far my favorite thing about 401’s videos is even when he accidentally tells a story twice it is literally almost the SAME word for word story. There is no making parts up, no exageration and no stretching of the truth. A story he told a year ago has the same consistency when he tells it now. Just goes to show how much integrity he has.
I like he’s super authentic
Wow "death odor" that's one odor I do NOT want to ever ever smell. Jesus Christ😓😓😖😖. Respect for your service.
Can confirm. When I was younger I had a pet rat that died. I waited a few days to do anything, hoping he was maybe just asleep or something
THIS IS SPARTA

Officer401: if I repeat myself in any of my videos I do apologize I just don't remember.
*Proceeds to tell a story he's told before*
Thanks officer 401..! Vicks under the nose helps. I always carry small baggie in my pocket on duty. I try to remember that our sometimes grisly work helps the victim friend and family. Thank you for being human.
MsFiregal8 I've heard peppermint oil is the go to for hospitals; can't confirm that though
@@swelldritch2774 yes, many use that in morgue. I'm also an RN. Thanks for the reply. U medical field too?
Im a deputy coroner and vicks doesnt work after a deceased person is in full decomp. It helps a little to take the edge off the smell and prevent vomiting for the first few bad ones.
Sometimes we have to be there for the living.
"I spent a lot of time on this diagram."

I read an article several years ago about someone in the profession of crime-scene cleanup. Interesting work.
That is defiantly a smell that doesn't go away. My wife and I use to live in an apt. It was 2 summers ago in July. I started to notice a smell in the apt and thought it was sewer or something backed up. I called the office and they told me to put bleach down the drains and that should take care of it. So I did but 2 days passed and the smell was getting worse. It was a smell I had never smelled before. Called the office again and they said they had no other complaints and to try the bleach again since it was getting hot out they said it was sewer smell and would go away. About a week and a half after I started to smell this it was to the point that every time the air conditioning came on it would get worse. I would wake up in the middle of the night choking and gagging it was so bad. I can only describe it as ammonia and cat piss smell with a hint of sweet to it (if that's even possible) anyway I called again and they said they would look into it. By this time we started noticing HUGE flys in the apt that appeared to be so full they couldn't fly. They just sat on the walls. I take my wife to work and the whole way I could STILL smell this smell. It was on my hands and arms and clothes. I knew something was not right. Well I get home and I'm smoking out front and I get this HUGE whiff of just plain nasty then seen huge flys swarm around the building. About 20 min later I seen the medical examiner drive past and only at that moment my heart fell into my stomach because it was real and I knew what it was. Anyway I guess the guy was dead for about 2 weeks. His heater was set to 88 degrees and that smell I will never forget. Did the apt move us to a different unit? Nope. We had to break our lease to get I to a new unit. It was the worse thing ever
Yikes. Must be pretty shocking experience.
Do you know how he died?
That sounds like a pretty gnarly scene. As soon as you said the mail was piled up I was already expecting what you described. One of my instructors from college had a similar story about a suicide call he got. Guy hung himself in a barn, middle of summer, hung there for about 3 weeks before someone found him. Officers arrive, instructor and another guy are up on a ladder trying to get body down, ladder somehow began to fall and instructor, who was at the top of the ladder, grabbed the closest thing to him to not fall to the ground. He grabbed the body, which was so decayed that it split, and he tumbled to the ground with the body, and it landed on top of him and sprayed him with a lot of fluids. He said he burnt that uniform after that
Any longer and it would've gotten itself down..
🤢🤮
Got something close, I was still a paramedic trainee and the third one on the unit along side two senior medics...so as much a rookie as you can be. Anyway we got a call out to a 'fallen person' at the train station. Along side the fire department local PD, rail PD an air ambulance and the EMS chief...it took me way to long to put one and one together. It really happend what you think happend. A 16y/o got hit by a train at full speed. How ever the one think that I remember most was the commend by the our chief how had to file the paperwork and announce that guy DOA. Quote: "You sure he's dead? Did you find his head?" We: "Well, part of his lower jaw and an bundle of hair is stuck at the first car. If you can identify more of him then us, let us know."
I never really understood the whole dark humor thing when it comes to policing until i saw it in person. My dad and brother and I were driving together and saw a motorcyclist crash right in front of us and he ended up dying because of it and the cop i gave my statement to was making jokes about me taking him away from his dinner and i didnt understand it until i realized that this is an everyday occurrence for you guys. All the more respect because seeing that was probably the worst day of my life and to even imagine seeing that and worse is insane.
Story about finding someone's dad dead and ending with I going out state to go visit my dad. 😐 don't take for granted the time you have with family and loved ones. 😞 "tomorrow is promised to no one."
Decomps are some of the worst calls to go on. Once the body bloats from the gasses inside, the body leaks. For those of you who haven't smelled death before, you'll never forget the smell. That's the unfortunate thing.
I believe you told the first story before.
Bandtheguy he has
Bandtheguy yes
Yes you have told this story before. My buddy I ride along with all the time retells story's and it's still awesome to hear them. Not only because they were real (and sometimes funny too) but the teach a lesson every time they are told. Great work man!
First time watching you. Had almost the same situation with my sister and a wellness check a few years back. They wouldn't let me into the house. Now I REALLY understand why. Thank you. keep up the good work
My dad is a funeral director so he has to pick up bodies and embalm and he tells me all the time the gross stuff he sees sometimes. One house he went in the lady had a shit fettish and had smeared it all over every wall and floor and everything and then died and rotted on top of that. I can’t imagine what he and the responders had to smell
Chase Morris I hope your mother makes all the food lol. I’m disgusted when people touch their feet, so something like that, well I’d lose my mind lol. Much respect to those who work in funeral homes.
I know this story. Knew it as soon as you started out. Still listened to it again! I 💙 these stories videos!
I remember this story, but I think it was mixed in with other stuff, not sure how long ago. It's all good though - 401 story time is always my favourite. Always a great way to start my day (currently 0430 here in Australia😃). Stay safe!
i think it was his dead bodies video. Still I liked the story.
@@judahmac1799 you're probably right as it's aptly titled.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us out here, I always wanted to join the force but had too many unresolved personal/mental issues, so I appreciate hearing about you and what you share. Stay safe and God Bless
You have told this story before in a previous video. But I didn't mind hearing you talk about it again. I work a a nursing home so I've seen so many families hurt when someone passes away, it's never good, but then to have that body decomposing for 2 weeks, even if it wasn't family that's nasty...
I remember watching the original video about this topic. Yes it is disgusting what police officers and anyone in EMS has to deal with and endure. Very sorry you have to deal with that kind of stuff. I hope you stay safe. Also have safe tavels coming here to Arizona. I would wait until after next Wednesday , October 3rd, 2018 to come out since we are suppose to get hit with the reminents of Hurricane Rosa off the Baja of California starting Sunday evening all the way until Wednesday morning.
Love your vids 401
Keep uploading awesome quality content😁😁
Just passed my entrance exam for my local pd and take my agility test tomorrow morning and am seriously nervous. Watching your videos is calming and getting me pumped. Thanks bro!
You are a remarkable individual. In nursing, I saw and experienced some really difficult things as well, but not quite like some of the things you’ve seen. You have my utmost respect.

I figured that story was gonna come around when this vid came up. But the added detail is actually good to have. I can see the scene in my head a lot more clearly. As a writer, I find myself wanting to write about this. Good fuel, Officer401. Thank you so much.
This is new to me! Your video showed up in the recommended videos. Dude! I could never be a cop or EMT or anyone who has to deal with situations like that. Thank god for people who can handle it - even if at times difficult to do so. Salute!
Officer401 your so awesome. The humor you translate is very close and funny to me. The stick drawing with your comment and ems slipping and almost kissing a decaying body. You got me rolling. There are two videos I’ve been looking for from you, the one you talk about “ what if I tell these officers that the cat walks funny whenever you two are alone” and the one you talk about “ guys at my department can take a gun apart with their dick. Me I don’t care as long as it works when I put my booger hook on the bang switch”. Those two I’ve been trying to find for a while now.
I think you should do a video on how you respond to 1st Amendment "Auditors".... These ppl who go and film police departments, Sheriff's offices, post offices, etc...... just to see how LEOs respond. I think it would be interesting to see what other LEOs opinion is on this...
You told the last part before but glad to hear the details and context. You should do a topic on ride alongs. What types of officers can allow ride alongs (patrol, tactical units like swat, detectives, k9s.) and what kinds of things you should observe. And maybe some good questions to ask that might vary from department to department. Things you’d want to know like “is there a no chase law in this city?” Also a topic about the different branches and what kind of qualifications you need, what you might have to do o prep for these branches (physical, educational, mental, home life exc.) and a general idea as to what to expect not only as far as your duties but also what to expect to change from the above categories. I think it would be a great opportunity to “interview” any officers you might know that have better answered for these things.
Heard this story before but in alittle more detail so im happy with it. Love the video.
New video😻 week without Officer401 is way too long!
I live in Poland but I am waiting impatiently for a new movie,

I really like these story time videos. :) Also, enjoy your trip and safe travels!
As a brand new subscriber to your channel, I am interested in any and all interesting/disgusting/freaky call-outs or stories you have about your work. I do find it all fascinating. The most heartwarming story you have or whatever has touched you the most, I think that all stories from a police officer's perspective is interesting. And I totally understand about the "different" sense of humour, I am a registered nurse and it's similar for us. When you deal with sad or devastating circumstances every day or most days, you develop a bit of a different sense of what's funny. And you need to, otherwise every nurse, Dr, police officer etc would be severely depressed/angry/resentful etc. Thank you for sharing your story. I did giggle at the inappropriate time. 😳😊
So, I'm Security Forces in the Air Force and fairly new. One of my supervisors shared this story when he was working LE. When we're reversing a government operated a vehicle, we are required to have a spotter (someone directing you). This individual was standing directly behind the vehicle reversing and got pinned against something. He was completely smashed. Back at the hospital, my sup was there to gather the required information on the individual, as they were obviously dead. One hospital employee decided he wanted to use a defibrillator on the individual even though they were obviously already mangled up. They proceeded to utilize the defibrillator and you see their body almost explode and all their guts and insides fall out all over the place with a horrendous smell that emitted. Everyone in the room had a hurl.
Why the hell would you zap a mangled corpse with 1000 volts?
@darklordster Sounds like mad science to me.
"he got there in 35 mins" do he do 250mph all the way there?
Thank you for your service, your humanity, your compassion.
Been subbed since 200k! Keep up this great work and make it to a million.
officer401 can you make a video on officers working second jobs? I have heard that many agencies have restrictions on jobs that officers can take outside of police work.

You talked about this before, but not nearly in this detail, it was just brushed over briefly. But I''m glad you posted this so we could get the full story.
Yoo officer, quick question. Is it possible to be a cop while going to school, and if it is. How difficult is it??
Each state has different requirements for the police academy, in most you only need a highschool diploma/GED, and have to be a certain age, about 21 in my state.

I know this is way off from what the video is about but I have a question,I have a local police department that’s really small and I want to get them all cheese biscuits from Abrams but I’m not sure if they’ll eat them. I don’t want them to feel nervous eating them because they’re afraid I did something to them. Should I get them cheese biscuits or find another way to help out or show them that I appreciate them? This comment was longer than it was supposed to be.....well might as well add more,Thank you for what you do!
I love this comment lmao
Maybe if you went to the store and bought a big pack of cookies or whatever, something that is obviously sealed.
Familiar story, believe you’ve told it before!
Thank you for your public safety service ... It takes alot to hold composure no matter who it is ....
I've been on a lot of dead body calls, the worse and most difficult part is dealing with the family members especially when it's a suicide.
Video idea: Academy romance. You know what I’m talking about. There were several guys and gals that sparked a temporary relationship throughout academy time where I went
Was it an other officer who let the guy get the safe?
Still to this day I have no idea.
Cool Video Officer 401 did some electrical work in the GBI building in Decatur we had to work in the morgue area and that was the first time I ever saw a dead body creepy worst was when they cleaned the morgue for us to go in and do some quick wiring the smell of the dead bodies in the freezer was strong! You've told the story before but it was still funny to watch
When I was younger I grew up in a high crime area during the summer because I'd be shipped away for schooling by my grandparents but over the summer some friends and I were goofing off at a park and we found a dead body and we stuck around to watch them put in the body bag and because of everything as they were trying to put it in it popped and just spread all over these guys trying to put it in the bag both of them threw up one of them started rolling around in the dirt screaming in disgust and horror
