Dude, sounds like you've been riding a chaotic rollercoaster, but I'm glad it sounds like you're having a blast with it. It's crazy how things have changed over the past few years.
On my department, there are two Sgts and one Lt per precinct per shift. Three years ago, I fell into a situation where I was the only Sgt and acting Lt for the shift, covering the largest precinct in the city for an extended period. Having to supervise 20-24 officers absolutely broke me so kudos to you for enduring this burden. Stay safe brother.
I certainly don't see you guys It's not being important. You all are a very important part of my life. It was just having to come up with several ideas for videos per week that burned me out. Definitely nothing to do with you all though.
not just 401 but alot of older youtubes are having hiatus around now. i blame the extened period of time were we all were stuck in side. so glad 401 is still sticking around
I’ve had several supervisors and managers over the 22 years I worked at a hotel. When my supervisor or manager would do something (I worked outside at the swimming pool) like walk past where a guest left a mess and they would just clean up the mess. Like plates and cups that are empty. I had other ones that would walk past and go out of there way to come tell me to clean it up. And I’d go clean it up. But the supervisors or managers that would take care of it I called them working supervisors/ managers and when they asked me to do something I would take care of it. You are a working supervisor and you will have all the more respect. Stay safe
I remember when you were showing me what was in your patrol car and you got in trouble, now your a sergeanant and I’m a freshman in college. Time flies. Hope you keep on enjoying life and sharing when and what you can.
Good luck! I do my Polygraph and Psychological evaluation next Thursday here in Flagstaff AZ. They said they want to get me into the Academy sometime in February. I sure hope so cause if I miss the winter Academy it means I have to run in that dreadful Phoenix heat this summer! 🥵
the radio stuff is on point. im a dispatcher and we are sympathetic to call we have to send out. so when something ridiculous, or stupid or even just straight up funny, we make a hard commitment to put it out in a humorous manner without breaking radio etiquette. it gives everyone listening a chuckle. the worst is when someone messes up or gets tongue tied on the radio. its straight go time. (night shift things only by the way, wouldnt advise for when brass is around)
Been a hell of a last few years for the boys in blue. I showed this to my wife, who is a cop and SWAT member, and she said she is also a "serg-enant." It is crazy how they are expecting cops to work harder than damn Military SpecOps guys. I work with a lot of Green Berets in the Marine Raider Reg, they often call cops Blue Berets, I think it fits better now than ever. I'm glad we have level headed Blue Berets keeping the streets safe while the Greens keep it saves off them. You seem like a leader I'd love to work under man. Keep up the work and don't feel pressured to upload.
Glad you're back and hope your holidays were great. America needs more people like you, to help stave off the hate the bad eggs who have/continue (Note: Even on TT they are proud of the hate, always without names and blurred badges) to spread about the industry.
I had one job right across from the floor admin AND the womens bathroom. Talk about distractions. Everyone talks to the admin and the bathroom door is a revolving door! 🤦♂️ Hahaha the taller comment and “poop” comment had me rolling!!!!
You need to keep a journal of all of these great stories!! Sounds like you are having a great time and you shouldn’t ever apologize that! You’re right, when people enjoy who they are working for, they are absolutely going to be happier, want to come to work and all around do a better job!! Much love to you and Mrs 401!! 💗💗💗
Mate I relate to this so much, everything, all down to not being on the phone for too long lol. But I am 17 and have inspired to be a police officer in Australia for as long as I can remember. I also had ADD, ASD and was worried about that effecting my future, but from you opening up (and I know it's hard), you have restored my confidence in applying. Keep up the awesome work!
I wish I could like this video multiple times. I’m so so happy you’re doing well and thriving in your job. It’s a true pleasure to see someone do the job they were born to do. Happy New Year, Lieu-Serg.
I was working at 3 different departments when I retired. All had different codes and signals. It was never intentional, but sometimes I would mess up and the dispatcher would be laughing so hard he couldn’t answer me on the radio. I was a captain at one department, a corporal at another, and a correctional officer at another. Fun times !!!!!!
This is amazing, I still remember watching your videos from when you used to record inside your unit. Fast forward three years later, you’ve been promoted and I’m approaching my 3rd year law in law-enforcement. Your videos inspired me! God bless and keep LEADING the charge.
11:24 that would be an awesome way to bridge the gap between the public and LEOs. Especially giving everyone an organic transparency platform for encounters and reality of the day-to-day life an LEO on or off shift.
I used to be in the county's EMA and monitored both the police and fire frequencies. One day I was listening when a couple of town police called into the sheriff's dispatch requesting an officer with a "slim Jim" to come to the practice range and unlock their police car for them. The dispatch sent an officer and after that I heard the sheriff come on the air and ask if the officers needing assistance were Beavis and that other fellow. 😆
@@gigamut11b86 thanks! I ended up going out to dinner and the waiter accidentally mistook my politeness for flirtatiousness because he slipped me his number 😂😂😂
Officer 401 I just want to thank you for all the content you produce and all the great info you provide, I've been watching you for a long time and you're a big reason why I want to go into law enforcement. My background investigator told me if everything goes smoothly I should be looking at getting into the Sheriff's Academy in March.
Welcome back we missed you!!!! listening to those little quips brought back memories of my ridealongs as an explorer. Best practical joke ever was helping tie the doors shut on a vehicle using a roll of the police line tape. Then tapping on the window to wake them up.
Was just telling the fiance that I've missed watching your beautiful face on the Tube of Yous! Glad you're back however you should ALWAYS ALWAYS focus on your family first. We'll always be here for your videos whenever it comes out :)
You are what the difference between a boss and a leader is. You are not a boss like so many others. You are a leader to your officers and that is very rare to see in all professions these days. Thank you for standing up for what's right, treating your officers with respect and dignity, and fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for your department. Take care, sir.
It sounds like you and my husband, who was promoted to lieutenant for a local sheriff's dept. last year, have a lot in common. My life has been chaos with all of his shift changes in the last year. Hard for him, but our family life has been turned upside down with each change. I'm proud to say my husband supervises in a similar way and the respect given to him is overwhelming at times. When one of his deputies told my husband he would go to war with him, I knew his deputies would always have his back. It all comes down to this. If you treat your team right, they'll treat you right in return. My favorite quote: Attitude reflects leadership. And the job is hard, have a little fun and smile once in a while.
Been watching this channel since the early days. From the old Charger go-pro videos, news of the new kid and when you were in CID. You are coming up big time man.
Glad you are back and I have to say that I hope that you and your family had a GREAT Christmas and New Year's? That said I hope that 2022 is better 2021 for you and your family.
We have the same humor at the FD, I'm right out of high school and I've only been there for 4 months, but I have a lot of stories . We have a few guys on shift that can make the whole room just roll with laughter. I've even somehow made a couple of the officers and a few of my guys laugh. One of my favorite times was when we just put the patient on the hospital bed, I was out of the room with the cot and my other three partners were in the room with the patient and the nurse. My partner hands the call button to the patient and said "this is the call button, you can press it how ever many times you want and the nurse will drop what she's doing and come running." The whole room just starts laughing (myself included in the hallway, I was thinking "he did not just say that". ) When my other partner and I just got back on the ambulance he said "you should've seen the look on that nurse's face, she was pissed." And my other partner and I just started laughing.
My LT waits until the Monday we approve our time cards to fix every officers time card. Even through you have emailed him all week about fix’s and corrections.
401 you sound like a great person and a good supervisor to work for. I would love to work with or for someone who cares about his officers like you do! Most Lts seem burned out with their careers to care that much about their shift officers. Keep up the great work and awesome content.?
"Baptism by Fire Hose" know the feeling. 20+ years later I am still waiting to be trained on some posts that I worked. Then later getting tasked with training newbies on that post.
Small dept in my area had the LT promote to Chief (yes, one LT and now he was Chief). The Sgt, who just got the promotion less than a year before, is now the only supervisor between the Line staff and the Chief. Then a month ago, the Chief died of a heart attack. Now this poor Sgt is acting Chief for his Dept.
My father was a police officer in San Diego and one of the funniest radio exchanges I remember him sharing happened on his 40th birthday. A friend knew someone in dispatch and sent him to a “call” at 4040 40th st.
Always interesting seeing how differently other departments work. Our dispatch if the zone deputy is on a call, they just call whoever the next closest deputy is.
My criminal justice teacher was sort of like this, the only difference is that his old department got rid of the Sergeant position. Therefore, he went from Officer straight to Lt.
