Nice to hear [and see him in person] bits of Barry Adamson's - Moss Side Story LP played in the background of this. It's a 'lost' great Mcr LP that doesn't really get talked about like other Mcr LP's of the 80's. Same with Yargo, who should have been as big as the Mondays/Roses.
I was a working musician in Tenerife during the riots, I couldn't believe that the UK was in meltdown. This period is captured by the song 'Ghost Town' by The Specials.
Haha, no way, I grew up on the next street down from Tony atta and his brother Danny. Tony was a bit of a bully as a kid, he put a nail in my back tire on my relleigh budgie when I learned to ride it without stabilizer lol.
living in Moss side these days doesn't seem as bad as back in 81 or the 00s even though I've been living in Moss side since the late 90s I would of had to carry a gun back then to feel safe
A lot of rose coloured spectacles looking back on before the riots ... we're told virtually everyone was prejudiced against the young black men etc....which came first though? Usually people make judgements based on experience. Its very easy to justify any bad behavior if you suggest everyone is prejudiced against you. WHy do police stop more black young men, bcs more young black men ARE/WERE more likely to be involved in crime than for example a middle-aged white woman..and all the young men in moss side were black....I only went there a few times but two of those times I was robbed at knife point by young black men, once at night and once at lunch time...so fuck em!
Les with his missy is still alive lovely bloke A jus Iwish I could back and really put some work in then compared to today with CCTV DNA we got no chance

So glad I were there !!!
Brilliant - I learnt a lot of new things that I didn't know about the riots (I was 5 at the time) and thought the poetry was awesome!
Good documentary but why use footage which is *unmistakably* Toxteth Liverpool 8
(this is *NOT* Moss Side)
#Toxteth - 19:46 - 19:50 -- 21:05 - 21:16
