Locked Down, Closed Off, and Red Scale in Tokyo, Japan

  • This week I worked with a combination of techniques that I don't usually use in an effort to get out and try new things. This included using Lomography Red Scale film with my camera locked down on a tripod, so that I could take longer exposures with the aperture completely closed off. It yielded a lot of okay photos, but a few that I like a lot. I will look to put these techniques into my workflow more often.

Really nice video - would be interesting to see how this film performs at night in Tokyo!

Thank you! I’ve got two more rolls of it that I’ve been trying to think of an idea for and night photography might be it. Sadly, it’s rated to shoot between ISO 50-200, so I might have to stick to long exposures if I do end up trying that. Thanks for the quality suggestion!

The compositions at 1:10 and at 2:40 with the long lenses were amazing - the tripods and closed aperture can add a lot of depth to the shots from my experience when I apply it to filmmaking. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences! I make short films on my channel, recently filmed a portrait of a young painter in Sweden, I’d really appreciate if you stopped by, thanks! :)
