I'm a grown man, long jaded by this world. I never tap into my emotional side.
But this song makes me cry. It makes me yearn for the most authentic and loving connections. It reminds me of the brevity of life and to not take it so seriously.

When i was 18 this song helped me abandon narcotics, cigarettes, alcohol and hooked me into sports, when every one else so rounding me simple turned their back on me. At 39 it helped me stand up after a huge fall from a Australian dream, at 39 also supported me trough the loss of Mum. I'm 41 now and i do appreciate Seal for making this powerful and lovely song, witch keeps inspiring me and giving me strength to carry on. "Life carries on, when nothing else matters".

I had a friend who was murdered by some punk in a robbery. We had the same initials and he would tell me that if we got married I wouldn't have to change my monogram. This song gives me hope, light, and reminds me that time is the space between he and I. I have that tattooed on me.

    Fearless people,
    Careless needle.
    Harsh words spoken,
    And lives are broken.
    Forceful ageing,
    Help me I'm fading.
    Heaven's waiting,
    It's time to move on.
    Crossing that bridge,
    With lessons I've learned.
    Playing with fire,
    And not getting burned.
I may not know what you're going through.
    But time is the space,
    Between me and you.
Life carries on... it goes on.
    Just say die,
    And that would be pessimistic.
    In your mind,
    We can walk across water.
    Please don't cry,
It's just a prayer for the dying.
I just don't know what's got into me.
    Been crossin' that bridge,
    With lessons I've learned.
    Playing with fire,
    And not getting burned.
I may not know what you're going through,
    But time is the space,
    Between me and you.
There is a light through that window
Hold on say yes, while people say no
    Life carries on
    Ohh!
It goes on....oh-ee-oh, whoa-ee-oh ho oh...
    I'm crossing that bridge,
    With lessons I've learned....
    I'm playing with fire,
    And not getting burned....
I may not know what you're going through.
    But time is the space,
    Between me and you.
There is a light through that window.
Hold on say yes, while people say no
Cause life carries on....oh-ee-oh, whoa-ee-oh ho on...
    It goes on....oh-ee-on,
    It goes on.
    Whoa.
    Whoa.
    Life carries on.
    When nothing else matters.
    When nothing else matters.
I just don't know what's got into me.
It's just a prayer for the dying.

Seal KNEW that this song was a masterpiece. His soul is right THERE in the video. This was a once in a lifetime concept, within a once in a lifetime album! Read his comments about NOT writing down lyrics, to maintain poetic integrity, within the record sleeve, to KNOW he was at the peak moment of his brilliant career. HE knew it. And THIS song, speaking of the mysteries of illness, and how it really relates to everyone's limited time on this planet, speaks of hope against any temporal illusions.

Funny thing Soraya, I was a bit indifferent on Kiss From a Rose when it came out. It was undeniably beautiful, but somehow not a personal favorite. In fact I read or heard somwhere that Seal himself was not that happy with it. Perhaps he saw it as too far removed from his image of the time. But I've taken a liking to it recently. Don't laugh, it started when I watched "Vacation", and then saw Jack Black's over the top rendition on the 'Tube..

Definitely one of the MOST important messages of the twentieth century! This IS a man's soul, eagerly nailed up to HIS own recording, identifies the suffering, feelings of universal anguish, then becoming fused with it! WE experience his transfiguration out of self, embracing something genuine, eternal, even hopeful in its sublime knowledge. "Time is the Space between you and me," offers that eventually we shall overcome seeming limitations, when connections are worked out to their perfect end.

Throughout these years this song never left my musical devices (computers, mp3, laptops, iPod, iPod nano, smartphones...) but I didn't bother to look up the lyrics all this time. A while back, maybe like last year, I had this one quiet moment while listening to it and all of a sudden I "heard" the lyrics and realized how meaningful the song is. It gave me major goose-bumps. What a beautiful song! Now knowing the lyrics, it brings me tears every time I listen to it.

I like this song, and I like Seal's performance in it, but when I really get into the lyrics of it today, it is very intense. It goes way beyond giving me chills. I think of very important people that I have lost over the last 10 to 20 years, and I am profoundly sad beyond words. I am convinced that my very best days are behind me. Nevertheless, the lyrics and music in this song is beautiful and amazing. I listen to quite a range of music, and quite often, but this one really punches my soul, so hard that it really hurts, even today.

Brings me back to August 15, 1995, my mom had been dying. We took her off life support that day. I was in a fog leaving NY Hospital and get into my car. I turn in the radio and this song plays. I couldn’t have written it different. It’s been with me since.

This single and album were my records of the year 1994. I was driving to say farewell to my best friend of the 80s who was on his deathbed in 1994 when this was a hit,and every time it played on the radio, I felt its soulful power. Both song and album helped me thru that sorrowful time, and I still listen, it's a classic. Sometimes a record enters your life at the right time...and stays forever💜
