Fact: this song almost never made it to his second album. He was short one song so he pulled this song from a pile of songs he had written years ago and the producer turned into this excellent track. Won a grammy award for it and hit number one.
Another fun fact: When he was making his first album in 1990, Seal thought about the song "Kiss From A Rose", and said he didn't want to put the song on his first album, because he said it "wasn't his style." He also said he "threw the tape in the corner", and he also said he felt embarrassed by it. 4 years later in 1994, when he made his second album, he looked at the song again, and decided to release it on the second album, but he had no plans to release it as a single. Then he played it for his producer Trevor Horn. And he said he loved it. And after that, the song *blew* up! A year later, it was of course released for the soundtrack to the movie Batman Forever, and that's when Kiss From A Rose *really* took off, big time. It was also when Seal became a household name. The original was a great song. Anthemic. A classic. There have been many covers but only one version beats the original. This one. Perfection
It shud be a crime for one song to have so much passion
The singer breaths LIFE into lyrics. It's from the soul❤
It always boggles my mind that Seal was embarrassed by this song initially and didn't think it was good enough. After all these years it still gives me goosebumps!
Very talented, he never faded. Watched like three times.
Let me remind you people that this song is one of the hardest to sing. Kudos to Seal for providing 5 star performance.
It seems he sings a great deal of it from his heart....and his soul.
You people?
Yes everyone. This is one of the MOST difficult songs to sing. Period. It's brilliant. Bravo to all the backup instrumentalists too!
They did a fantastic job. There so much harmony and Euphony.❤
Absolutely. Full power from chest voice in the chorus. Not easy!
Holy shit that was phenomenal.
Let God love you.
So he's R&B? So he's Rock? So he's Pop? So he's Orchestral? And he's a hit maker!!! Great rendition here! Soulful as hell!
He's classical very much!
Unmatchable vocals. So much feeling and it ages like the finest of wine.
If I were to die tomorrow, I'd want Seal (Henry Samuel) to know it was an absolute gem to have experienced listening to him sing in my lifetime. Thank you Seal for all you've given us of your wonderful talent.
Damn , his voice is astounding. Dude is holding back but you can still feel the power behind it
Yep. He can do so much more with that powerful voice. That was easy for him
Goodness that voice gives me goosebumps…
07 /24 …Sitting on my deck, looking out onto my lake, and listening to songs, that have relevance to ME, Wherever the whim takes me…And 2 of Seal’s songs were among them… They add to my peace and calm …
This song will alway's be a MASTERPIECE.
this song never gets
old
Now there’s a bloke that can sing!!! 🎤 🎶
His voice is so good it doesn’t seem real
No autotune required--- just pure talent. What a fantastic voice!
At about 3:35 mark, trombonist on end shaking his head like "yup, he's got this!" Beautiful.
moment of extreme joy for him I believe... seeing a legend doing what is expected.
it was an awesome moment :)
Nowadays live performances hardly (if ever ) sound like the record itself
This man is amazing ❤
Pure Genius!!!!! Exactly same as CDs.
Very true.
Pearl jam performance of black on MTV unplugged is another great live performance better than the recording
Voice of Liquid gold dripping on the microphone. Mr Samuels knows ways to hit his notes. Immaculate voice
Incredible Live Performance. 😊
Ele nem se importou com a "foule" kkkk "francês"
I was there, in my mind....

Only Seal can sing this song so wonderfully!!! 😍
All the kids during the 1990s are all growed up now. They hear this song and instantly remembers the 90s. It was so different and perfect back then just like the song.
90s were not perfect 😂.
@@Kougeru Compared today it is...
@@Kougeru No they weren’t, but they were the last great decade of hope, optimism adventure and great music before internet and social media wrecked us all and turned us into a perpetual popularity contest
@@doh4828 Maybe the internet and social media showed us all were we have a lot of growing up and evolving to do in within the culture and social relations of humanity in general, I basically agree, but hope and love comes from within your own individual heart and soul. Don't ever let the world get you down or cause you to loose hope and love for everything good, true, and beautiful. For as much negativity and fear as is pushed in basically everything mainstream as a method of lowering the collective consciousness of humanity, there is far, far more love and compassion in this world every single day that goes unannounced and without the positive attention it all deserves. The choice is always between fear and love in every moment and in every action we take. I hope everything works out for you and your loved ones and friends and family. Eternal love and gratitude 💚
I swear ❤
Seal creates an entire atmosphere around him when he sings... just beautiful, emotional highs and lows.
Left handed guitar restrung for a right hander played upside down left-handed. Nice!
Tom Lewitt I feel like I’m having a stroke reading this comment
I was wondering why the strumming sounded so different
Good eye. I completely missed that.
He is not playing it upside down though…. It’s just a left handed guitar strung for a right hander player
1:04 God damn, he's still good!
This is a masterclass in singing live.
Makes me tingle all over.
It's AMAZING how Seal's voice sounds exactly as the one on the record! Respect!
This is one of those songs that I think everyone, regardless of usual preferences, just loves; it's a rare thing.
Great performance, loved the different vocal phrasings throughout.
This song makes me crave romance and family. It makes me want to start a family with a man who loves me.
This song has always held an unimaginable power. Thank you, Seal.
Awesome.
It's about cocaine addiction not romance
@@rw114 funny but no lmao
@Sairam R it's a serious statement listen to the lyrics it'd about cocaine addiction
You are my power, my pleasure, myyyyyyyyyyy pain lol always great
kimobit4509 no kidding
Love the lyrics.
Confirmed by the trombonist lol
He sings it like he's lived it

Everything about this performance screams quality
Ehemm.. drummer..🤮
This man is very spiritual only god can make someone sing so good and he is thanking the lord through this song
PRAISE GOD....MY FLOWER. MY ROSE❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Easily one of the most natural, pure and stunning voices on the planet.
The lead vocal melody line is such an odd deliberate sequence of ♯ and ♭
Composition a stroke of genius, like catching lightning in a bottle.
If you don't get goosebumps from this, you better check for a pulse.
❤yesss
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Always inspiring
I’m looking for the best cover to his song and he did it himself ☹️☹️☹️ dam your soulful voice 😂😂😂😂
Try the cover by Fre Monti... Fantastic version
Marc Martel does a very good job
Alex Good and A.J. Rafael!! Look there's up
Benser Justin : Listen Reggae singer Richie Stephens version of Jamaica!!
Game grumps did amazing
One of the greatest songs of all time!
Seal's voice is as amazing as it was as in 94. Don't care much for this tame arrangement compared to the original with all it's intensity. But it is still beautiful.
Something about this song makes me feel a raw emotion that only comes when it’s sung by Seal….OMG! 😢
Master Class in singing. The man is pure.
At 3:25 - the trombonist's reaction! Love it!
haha yeah that needs to be a self praise gif quick.
Hahaha. I noticed that love it, I was doing the exact same thing at that moment. He's defiantly in the right job.
Thats Abel Tesfaye
Caught me.
@@dariuschristianofficial amazing performance, well done!!!
Fucking amazing performance. His vocals are even stronger and richer today.
I'm flabbergasted how incredible Seal's voice still is. This song won't ever get old, even if it's nearly if not more than 30 years now 💖
This man is such an immovable part of my lonely childhood.
I love how he sang the Main Parts without the backup. He kept those parts in his mind, Paused, and Continued Accordingly
Wow… one of THE Best unplugged versions ever! Seal is sublime
IMAGINE SEEING SEAL PERFORMING HIS SONGS LIKE THIS FOR 2 HOURS IN CONCERT
