It actually bothers me that it's associated with a movie. One of the best songs ever made, and it's connected to a mediocre (at best) Batman movie. Seal is an absolute treasure and deserves better than being associated with a middling superhero movie.
Indeed but I am just noticing that Batman is in the video wish it wasn’t so… finding this out now being born in 89 and hearing this thousand times loving it every time takes from The song dammit
Listened to this masterpiece when I was 8, watching the end credits of Batman Forever. 30 years later, it still remains one of the most renowned love songs ever made. Masterfully done, Seal! Masterfully done!!
The funny thing is... it wouldn't have being so hard to have a batman storyline/movie that fit in with the premise of the song... Like i have this idea that the storyline could have been perfectly match if it was a scenario were batman have fought but also fallen for poison ivy instead. Like him in a serious way having emotions for her after have deprived himself from those feelings ( something canonically batman usually does) only to suddenly have them being open for and because her, and also have him face with the choice on what to do with the villainess, the consequences of her presence in his life. And something like that would have also had many opportunites to take ideas from the song, as by example in the part were it says : "now that your rose its in bloom" - "a light hits the gloom on the gray" ( in such a storyline, making the analogy of ivy having being this presence and intervention that shine a light for batman to look within himself and bring to his attention that the morally gray path he also walks doesn't difers much from hers and that he often ignores, and to have him deal with his morals and complexity on fighting her or something. Wouldn't have been such a bad idea ) ...... and it would have make much more sense in that way, on top of making the song fit perfectly 🤔............ not to mention have being made the song even more epic ☝️😌
Saw this in theaters back in HS when it first came out. Now that I'm grown and can smile because of experience I had no idea this was a masterpiece. On rare occasions, the soundtrack of the movie and the era when it came out almost made me feel like I was directly involved. Timeless.
Just got to use your feelings, man stop thinking about it. Logically once you use a little emotional realize exactly how this relates look at the images. It’s not that hard to understand. Even heroes fall in love.
Sitting at my dining room table tonight, drinking champagne sitting alone. And for some strange reason, this song popped in my head and it’s all I wanted to listen to. September 2024.
Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-da-da Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-da-da There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea You became the light on the dark side of me Love remained a drug that′s the high and not the pill But did you know that when it snows My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen? Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah And now that your rose is in bloom A light hits the gloom on the gray Ba-da-da, ba-da-da-da-da-da, ba-da-da There is so much a man can tell you, so much he can say You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain, baby To me you're like a growing addiction that I can′t deny Won't you tell me, is that healthy, baby? But did you know that when it snows My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen?
Just finished watching the Vertex Effects podcast detailing this great song. Appreciate this greatness, the harmonies at the start so talented, 16 track/8 vocal harmonies per track... crazy work ethic in those days.
The more I hear Seal… the more I remember my best friend. We were just tucking into this.. the he died. Huge marker even more empowering music. Thanks.
I was like 7 when this came out and KNEW this was a banger… As a 37 yr old man… I realize this song is just beautiful… Moves me to tears type beautiful… Bravo 👏🏾
I heard this song several years ago but I didn't think much about it, I had other ideas in my head. Last Sunday I had a memorable day where I saw people very dear to me. It was a truly wonderful day, especially the friendship with a very special friend. When I got into the car to go home I turned on the radio and there was this song. And it was the representation of what I had experienced up to that moment. I've been listening to it for four days. It has entered my soul. It's wonderful!
This is such an incredibly beautiful song. I remember the first time ever heard it, it’s like my mind came to life for the first time ever. An absolute genius, one of a kind masterpiece.
@@timothymerrylees7590But as a 34 year old life long DC fan, it is absolutely a terrible movie. Watched it for the first time in like 15 years and I just couldn't believe I used to love it as a kid.
I was lucky enough to be alive at this time. We didn't have movies, we had EVENTS. It's hard to imagine the excitement built up for Batman Forever, but you just don't get it today.
you know I consider Batman Forever one of my guilty pleasures, I thought it was good for what it tried to do and admit there is probably a bit too much silliness but still love the movie for what it is especially in an age when every movie is trying to be dark or ugh preachy...and this song definitely adds to the funfactor of the movie!
Just watched Seal performing this acoustic and damn his voice is a God given blessing cause he still sounds good. I had to come rewatch the og and it's still a perfect love ballad 😢
This song and video were so perfect. I'd do anything to go back to the 90's for just 1 day. I know it'll never happen but all those memories will never fade.
