Another video I needed to see, man your going to run these Mini mechanics out of business. Great content 👌🏼
Thank you 🙏
I can't agree more....I've learned so much in the past few months to the point that I am not a novice to the Mini Coopers. The only thing that I haven't done to my R56 is tinker with the bottom end of the engine. I'm in the process of putting the car back together for some fun times.
Why is there a need for a vacuum pump instead of just adding ports in the intake manifold?
We used a socket insert magnet to hold the bottom bolt going back in. 1/4” makes it easier. Thanks for the video.
Like your magnet trick. Great Vid!
Thank you! 🙏
Hello a great video and a perfect job 👍👍👍 and a lot of information perfect 👍👍👍from Germany 🇩🇪 👋👋👋 Kai
Thank you 🙏
very helpful, instructions worked to replace on my 2009 clubman s. thanks!
Thank you for watching my channel 🙏
Thanks for the video, thought there was another bolt until I used a screwdriver to get it out. Mine had a 1/4 gap in the o ring on the head. Looks like you have 2 catch cans?
Does this apply to the N16 R60 2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman FWD?
Another way to line up the key, is set the new one the same as the old one
Great video thank you! Why you changing that pump? What are symptoms of failing vacc pump? Ty!
My old one leaked oil. I rebuild it and it was fine though. The inside was a little worn so i decided to replace it
Project Mini thank you for response! Great to have all that knowledge that you post here! ;)
Thank you 🙏
Love the channel! Thank you for the great context. I ordered the same one and i took off the old vacuum pump easily. Putin the new one back in place has been a challenge. I know I'm lining up the grove with the crank shaft correctly, and the pump goes in with slight gap. No matter how hard i push it in, I'm not getting it flushed all the ways. I don't know what to do. Any tips or tricks? Thanks
Double check the part number and if that is correct then your hitting something. You’ll have to figure out what that is. If you post pics in the Facebook group Mini Cooper DIY I’ll see if i can figure it out
@@ProjectMini Thank you very much. I finally got it today after doing some research on line. ( cdn4.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/MINI_R56/43-ENGINE-Vacuum_Pump_Replacement/images_small/pic07.jpg ) I'd to remove the " Yellow Screw " and remove the bracket. Once the bracket was removed and out of the way. The rest was super easy. Thanks again keep up with the good work!
I didn’t need to remove anything that wasn’t in the video. I’m glad you got it figured out though
@@MooneyM20J Man I just tried changing it on my gfs car. Glad you figured it out, damn near smashed the car up. I'm never working on cars again, i'll try it again tomorrow and remove the bracket you have pointed out.
@@span89 good luck. You just need to have the right tools and it would be quick!
Did u notice one # was off?
Big sticker 7.01366.03.0
Little sticker 7.01366.06.0
Which # is correct to use?
Leaking oil is the only symptom of a failing vac pump?
Why does mine have 2 torx screws 🥴
Is there a way to diagnose if the vacuum pump is the issue. My brake pedal is rock hard and does not stop , all while driving 30 miles on the Parkway and NJTPK. 2012 Cooper S Countryman all4.
How often should we replace this Vacuum pump. Any suggestions?
Feel underneath it to see when is starts to leak. I would change it at 80-90k even if its not leaking though
what does vaccume pump do in R56 engine ?
How did u know it was bad as av got a problem is not making boot
I new it was bad because it was leaking oil
Do we need to be concerned with the vacuum pump on an N18 engine?
Yes
@@ProjectMini Thank you for the reply
How do you know you need a vacuum pump
Does the car throw any codes when it’s the vacuum pump. My daughter has a 2012 R60 with an N14 engine, she says she is seeing warning lights for brakes and traction and the car is hard to start and idles roughly. She is 300 miles away from me so I don’t want to give her bad diagnosis. I immediately thought it was the vacuum pump when she described what was going on
I just bought an 08 and went thru the hard starts and rough idle. It was low grade gas and low on oil..and leaked at this pump. only use prem gas! and run a bottle of octane boost thru it. engine light went off! I just did this pump. I'd start there, advised by a mini dealer shop....good luck.
What were the symptoms to know this was the case?
Leaking oil
