Huge thanks for the video. Was convinced my oil filter housing gaskets were going, as the car lost all coolant in the city centre last week. As I was taking bits off the car, realised there was a consistent stream of water from this aux pump (didn't know what it was at that point). The two 8mm are a pain to get at, but once off, took it out into the garden and manually pumped water through it. Spotted the lower two screws were heavily rusted, then spotted a crack in the plastic housing. Once I'd undone a couple of other screws, the plastic housing gave up, and a rubber gasket poked out - presumably it had swollen. Going to get a new pump ordered, put it all back together, then figure out how to bleed the damned thing!
Thanks for the info. I ran over road debris and it ripped the lines from the pump as well as doing other damage on my 09 S. The right tools are everything. I purchased the pliers and the Milwaukee ratchet as you used from your links. and it took me half a day to change the pump. It is a tight fit! I appreciate the time it takes to make these videos. It would have been helpful if you could have filmed it in daylight and somehow used a mirror to show the front facing view of the pump. As a novice at working on cars, it would have helped me :-) I certainly have joined your FB page and I am learning so much about this fun little car! Thanks Again.
Thanks for posting this. After replacing the turbo on our 2010 Mini Clubman JCW, I ended up breaking the input pipe off the silly aux pump. New turbo is working good though.
Thank you so much , like always great videos, I had a leak from the bottom of the auxiliary pump, on of the bolt that hold the pump plastic housing I have pictures that I can send. It was hard to find the leak because it was intermittent, I mean some times leak and some times did not. I did the test at around 1.8
Hi, enjoying your vids. Need to change my auxiliary water pump as its dripping coolant out of it, but it's a ***** to access it. Pelan parts have a write up on putting the Mini into service mode which allows the front end to slide forwards about 2" (5 cm) providing more access to this and the front end for service stuff Inc oil cooler replacement etc. Would really love to see a video of you putting the Mini into service mode. Not sure I fancy changing it with such limited access. Has anyone on here successfully changed the little bugger following this method? Thx
Hello there ,greeting ,I broken my front hose in the auxiliar water pump so I will reemplace it ,but the back one looks bad took so I order it but looks pretty tide to get there ,do you know any easy solución?
Would the aux pump interfere with the fan coming on? My 09 r56 S refuses to turn the fans on. I replaced the temp sensor, it seems to read correctly according to the temp readout. The fan is new. When I unplug the coolant sensor, the fan runs on max non stop and trips the cel. When I plug it back in, fan does not work at all.
I have one question: 2011 mini cooper s, I got recently and noticed that the PCV vent hose is missing but the car runs perfect no engine lights, Is this somenthing to be worry?

I live in New Brunswick Canada on the background noise of you working at night sounds exactly like my place👍🏼😎🇨🇦

how do you know you need this pump? leaking? just bought a 2011 mini clubman which might need a head gasket
What are the signs or symptoms that the aux. water pump is out?
It sets codes, and usually the turbo will be shutdown.

Hello a great video 👍👍👍from Germany 🇩🇪 👋👋👋 Kai
Thank you 🙏

I have to replace the radiator anyways-will it be easier to replace the water pump when radiator is out (access it from radiator site)?

Can you please provide the link for that long tool with magnet?

We don't call them MINI Bloopers for no good reason! 🥴
