Love the colours the blues and greens towards the background. Also love that you have been able to suggest the background boats without actually getting fussy with details. Thanks as always. 🇬🇧 🙂

Thanks so much Jo! 🙏 to be honest I was initially really intimidated by all that detail but I decided just to keep focusing on the focal point and not get distracted by the other stuff. It was a battle of wills but I was glad for the exercise and pleased with the results.

It’s been a while since I’ve picked up oil paints, but this is making me want to try again. I love how impactful (even if they’re unintentional) the brush strokes are. There’s something so satisfying about being able to see which way an artist pulled their brush. Great work as usual!

Thanks man. It would be cool to see what you could do with oils! I go back and forth on which I like. Sometimes the ability to blend and soften edges and Al’s the ability to get thick textures is just really pleasing with oils. But I will always love gouache. If anything I wish I could make my oils and gouache paintings look more similar.
