  • This is more of a step-by-step video on how to install a Curt Brand Hitch Receiver.
I needed a hitch to rent a Post Hole Auger for another project so I went to B&M Bumper and Hitch in Phoenix for a great deal on this setup!
The process really only took about an hour but that was with filming too. It’s super simple.

Thanks so much for this fishing video. I was looking at the install PDF and scratching my head on what the hell the engineer was trying to get my hands to do.

No problem. It was definitely more about the method than the torque spec. I recommend extremely tight. Lol.

Great except I used a torque wrench for all the bolts. Ram dealership wanted $550 for this install 😂

did you torque it to spec afterwards?

I actually don’t recall the paperwork giving a torque spec or I might’ve done that. Usually when something isn’t supposed to come off, I torque it to “Tight AF”.

He went silent after His last video 4 months ago let that be a lesson to you all to torque your bolts properly 😅

Actually I’ve been RV shopping. Lol. Also Lost all my video drafts in my iMovie app. Still been recording stuff but editing and posting the videos is a whole job in itself. And I’ve been working diligently to get my place on Airbnb. You know, because then we’ll be traveling the country in our RV. So… stay tuned! Lol.

What would the weight rating be for that

That’s a great question. I’ll see if I can come up with an answer. Unless you found one?? Haven’t pulled anything very heavy yet..

Why didn’t you buy the proper tools for the job? You have to be safe being sure there properly torqued. Crescent wrench and a bolt tightened up is pretty unsafe. Figured you can spend the money on the receiver but cheap on the tools. Just saying.

I invite you to come try to get it loose... just saying. Lol.

I wish I lived near you as I'd take your challenge to come try to take these bolts off as I'd come there and take all 3 bolts off one handed with the proper ratchet and socket.
And you say " TIGHT AF " well guess what I doubt those are tight enough but either way you did not torque to SPEC and under tight can come loose and overtight can be just as bad as your exceeding the stretch or tightness limit of the bolt or fastener.
How hard is it to buy a torque wrench and get the right size socket and hex socket to torque to spec ?
I'm sorry to say but you did not do a great job on this, I like your DIY style, do yourself a favor and invest in some tools as it doesn't really cost that much if you shop around....

I just bought this; it wants 320 ft/lbs on that main bolt. I can't find a torque wrench that goes above 250 for under a grand so tbh I don't blame him

@KamikazeRS well atleast torque it to 250....

    Torque those bolts smh

    • @thehandymanlife
      @thehandymanlife  2 года назад +1

I definitely did! Since they aren’t supposed to come loose, I torqued them down the nice round number of “tight AF”. Lol

I sure did! Torqued them to Tight “AF”. My favorite spec for things I don’t want to come off. Lol
