03-18 Dodge Ram Tow Hitch Install

Today I'm going to guide you through this installation of this factory style Dodge Ram tow hitch receiver. This product will fit 2003-2018 Dodge Ram 1500, 2019-2021 Ram Classic, or 2003-2013 Ram 2500/3500. This is a quick and easy DIY install for this 2 inch receiver with ratings of 6000 lb gross trailer weight & 600 lb tongue weight. This one-piece welded assembly is custom designed to mount on your factory rear bumper. Thanks for clear instruction with perfect video. My installation kit had no instructions, so using the fish-wire was a puzzle, and without torque specs was potentially dangerous. Well done!

While it is beneficial to know what the trailer hitch is rated to tow. What is more important is what the vehicle is ready to tow amount is less than what the trailer is ready to tow the vehicle supersedes any specifications of the trailer hitch manufacturer recommendations. a vehicle can do a lot more than what it's rated for but unfortunately that's not how vehicle to rates are determined. They are simply determined by the amount of weight a vehicle can tell while safely coming to a complete stop, had to given speed Various uphill or downhill, scenarios and weather conditions. The Toyota tundra has an example can easily to the space shuttle in Cape Canaveral Florida. If the tundra was to get up to speed at 60 miles an hour on the freeway, while towing the space shuttle. The space shuttle would simply push the Toyota tundra for miles due to its inertia. Thank . I'm currently removing my trailer hitch OEM from factory in order to shave off about 30 pounds or so I had already had my spare tire removed years ago for fuel savings. I can't figure out with that megaphone thing at the top of the spare tire..

I just installed my Curt tow hitch. I see where the issue starts when it comes to that 3/4 size bolt through the bumper. I ended up tightening that first before I tightened the nuts on the smaller bolts. When you tighten the smaller bots first, you're pulling the whole unit back and it's not aligning as well with the 3/4 bolt through the bumper hole.

Did you come up with a solution to cover the bolt that goes through the bumper? I'm having the same problem.

There's a plastic cover that's supposed to go there. Google search Ram Tow Ball Hitch Cover. I never could get it to fit however.

That’s weird the plastic cap snapped right back in place when I installed mine nice video by the way good instructions

Yeahhh... didn't think of that until it came time to torque the bolts to specification.
