The large chain loops on the hitch are made to put the S hook on the chain through the hole, so you can hook back to the chain itself. That also allows you to adjust the chain so you don't have to twist it to shorten the length. Basically run the chain through the holes on the hitch and hook the chain back to itself.
Nice editing man! I don't even have a truck (yet) and I still watched all the way through 😂
Damn all of your equipment was rated closer to a 1/2 ton truck. My Titan didnt have a tow package so i guess whoever owned it before me installed a Curt hitch only rated for 6Klbs or 10k with WD... I just ordered an 8k hitch with 12k wd and my ball is rated for 7500.
I figured IF I ever had to tow a trailer and vehicle, having the extra 2K lbs available will be huge since the truck is rated for around 9k towing.
I dont want my lowest rating to be from the hitch itself. I may find a ball rated for more than 7500LBs but i think id be fine for a standard car trailer and an average curb weight vehicle of 4K lbs. Id rather have the capacity and not need it than to try to tow more than my equipment rating and have something sketchy happen.. my hitch should be arriving tomorrow
It’s always good to be aware of your setup!
Thank you for your video. I'm about to install one soon on my 3500 express van. 2017. Has nothing on it from factory. So I'm learn on this . All parts ordered at etrailer. I already had some wiring. I'll save for spare.
Or use it on my old suburban..
Keep it up. Hope installation of brake controller is not to bad. 😬
Awesome! Good luck and may all go well.
muy importante seria colocale el soporte de la defensa trasera.. el original lo trae y el reemplazo no y hace bastante falta..
Dang Gina that's a big upgrade
You made a nice updated video we is going to buy the same trailer hitch for our RV trailer travel
Thank you for your help 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great information ℹ️
Will this fit a 2003 Yukon XL 2500
I would recommend visiting etrailer to see what hitch will fit your vehicle. That or go directly to Curt.
I wish I had your skills!
You can do anything you set your mind to!
Nice video! I'm about to do the same swap. Don't forget to grease the bottom half of your ball as well. That's where the lock side of the coupler rides.
contact cement and that sticker will last longer than you will.
I've read if u have a 5" exhaust the hitch will still fit but the exhaust will rattle up against it...what size exhaust are u running
Stock exhaust; I think it's 4"
Cut the old harness bracket off the old hitch. And tack weld it on the new Curt hitch. That way the truck harness won't dangle.
I upgraded to a new 7 and 4 pin connector and mounted it to the new hitch. Sorry, I didn’t show that in the video.
So does upgrading the hitch allow you to legally tow without a weight distribution hitch?
You don’t need a weight distribution hitch to tow with the stock hitch. Really depends on your trailer and the trucks and trailers capacities and specifications.
@@ThriftyGarage My F-250's stock receiver shows a 10K Tow Capacity with a WDH, and 5K weight carrying. Seems a bit low. It is an older model, 2000 year 6.8 with a 4.30 rear axle. I wasn't sure if those ratings are vehicle related or hitch receiver related.
It is best to check the vehicle capacity, hitch capacity, ball mount, ball capacity, axle rating, tire rating and trailer requirements. All can be different. Obviously the actual tow rating will be the lowest of all the components.
You must be new to hooking up trailers , you always let your hooks hang from the bottom not the top ! Video was good tho !
