  • Bar Hanging for Stubborn Cording. This video walks you through how to introduce this. You can start bar hangs 6-8 weeks after surgery.
If you don’t have a chin-up bar there are some easy substitutions that you can do at home (door handle, kitchen sink, staircase railing).

Did you have expanders in at the time of these exercises?

Not when I shot the video but I did bar hangs when I had expanders in. I did the full version (feet not touching) but had experience doing this before so it's ideal to do the modifications first then work up to the full hang.

My plastic surgeon discourages any movement of my arm above shoulder height so as not to dislodge the position of the expander , however, the restriction of movement for such a long period worries me that I'll lose range of motion. I've been quite active up until my unilateral mastectomy, dragonboating and lifting weights, and I'd ideally like to go back to this exercise ASAP! We're you ever discouraged in this way whilst having your expanders in? Did you wear any type of corset to restrict their movement?
Thank you for your most informative material through your videos. You've been a wonderful support in my journey.

@@alexianicolaou8176 My handout from the hospital said don’t lift above shoulder level for a number of weeks after surgery. It was also recommended that I not do any chest exercises because my expanders (and now implants) are under the muscle. Not sure which videos you’ve seen already but this one (ruclips.net/video/X3vGJRG1uhI/видео.html) documents my shoulder motion after my double mastectomy and this one (ruclips.net/video/t8bCo8OFSTk/видео.html) the workouts that I did after surgery. It’s a delicate balance of doing enough exercise to maintain our sanity and make us feel like ourselves but not too much to risk a possible complication.
