What are some other must haves or nice to haves for your mastectomy?
My mastectomy is scheduled for June 20. I am having reconstructive surgery at the same time so I know my surgery will take longer. I have watched most of your videos and it is helping me so much to be prepared. I am still a little nervous but having the time to prepare and get comfortable with it is so important. Thank you for your help.
I was in the same mindset leading up to my surgery. More info and feeling prepared always helped....although I was still pretty nervous leading up to surgery!
I am 6 days out from my double mastectomy with expander placement and I totally agree with all of this. Great video!
Thanks! Hope your recovery is going well so far.
That' s a really comprehensive list! I actually used all of those, exept for the cups with straws.
Fanny packs work great for the drains, you can actually shower lower half of your body, wearing just fanny pack and using detachable shower head. If you have small kids or pets always wear some sort of hoodie to cover the tubes - you really dont want anything to tug on them.
I would add comfy shoes you can put on without bending down, and electric toothbrush if the nodes of your dominant hand are removed. Brushing your teeth might be difficult to do with the other one.
Thanks for the input. I use an electric toothbrush as well so I didn’t even think of that.
I thought of a serious nice to have: a bidet! For the first few days wiping would have been a struggle, but I have a bidet so all I had to do was pat dry.
I definitely didn't think of that!
Where are the links to the products?
Links are in the description. Are you not able to see them?
Women older or younger do not go for reconstruction in
my country as they not consider it a must have.
Curious what country that is? Is there a specific cut-off age for reconstruction?
