I’ve never seen any rc more beautiful in my life. Maybe because I used to have a red FJ40 - but it had different tail lights. Suspension? Correct. Tire size? Correct. Details? Yessir. Scale on point; ridiculous! I mean dang man, it is the perfect build of this vehicle (best that I’ve seen online), I love it.
Wow! So much to unpack in a ten minute video! I don’t think most people grasp the amount of time and effort it takes to make a complete build video of this quality. Kept my absolute attention the entire time! Great job on this build!
There's something about skinny tires and leaf springs that's just so satisfying to drive, even small obstacles leave you thinking more and throttling less.
Amazing job, mate! You made the car look as if it had been used on a farm for many years without proper care. You gave the car some personality and a history.
I was surprised to see that you put the antenna back in the vent door, lol. : ) I've been looking for time to repaint my FJ just to move it to the correct location. Nice patina paint job! Those wheel covers look great!
Dude! I’ve got a 1970 FJ40 in the same color you painted this. It’s original paint, so it is in similar (but better) condition than what you’ve done here. Outstanding work! I would love to see a part & paint color list. I was hoping you had one. I’m going to use this as inspiration to build a mini version of mine. Again, fantastic work!
Thanks! I used Krylon paint and I want to say it was called Pistachio. Other than the wheels and tires that came off an FMS 1/6 Jimny and the hubcaps I printed myself, no other parts were used. Oh and the leaf kit from the FMS Jimny as well.
Great makeover! I almost lived in my FJ40 for a couple of years. Two things that are wrong… the antenna was not in the foot vent and the rear side markers were red. Both mistakes by FMS.
Thanks. There were a ton of errors I didn’t fix. No ambition to and short on time. We are yet to see a perfect, truly accurate, down to the exact year scale body. The only company I know doing that is MFab with their 3D printed bodies.
WOW! That is AMAZING! EXCELLENT work/art!! Can I ask how you got the Land Cruiser emblem off the side bibs? I want to color match mine to my fullsized one, and that's the scariest part of disassembly for me.
If you didn't like the video please tell me you liked it... I loled. This is probably my favorite after the Atlas, but that's because I dig the power wagon look and am not a fan of a hard body. I have to say though, this is probably the best one to date. I love the FMS stuff, but sometimes they look too perfect. You could get away with that on the Mashigan, but a 60+yo vehicle needs to look the part.
Wow, the rig looks amazing ! So scale . Is that a period correct color ? Seems like a color from that era . Wheel and tire compliment it very nicely, great job! 👍
Best scale attempt so far. Only details i can see that are off is the license plate and 4wd emblem on wrong side, lack of gray wheels and no spare tire swing out. Otherwise, nailed it completely. Personally, id give it a bench front seat and move the shifter to the steering column.
Time constraints didn’t allow for perfect year accurate makeover. There were A LOT of other things I’d have to correct from the manufacturer to do it right. The black wheels and earlier hubcap choice was mine for style points.
@@turksandjerps I know for a fact that happens in real life. My 1:1 is a junkyard restoration that incorporates 8 or 9 different vehicles and all different eras
Love the term "1 : 1" Those little FJ models ARE nice, but I would rather DRIVE real one like my '65 FJ, but just cannot believe I parked mine under oak trees for 18 years!
Wow! Your FJ40 is awesome! It's the most exciting 1/10 crawler I've ever seen! I've also had fun rusting up my Hilux in Japan, but compared to your FJ40 it's childish... The wheels and tires on your FJ40 are awesome too! Do you sell them somewhere? Or did you make them yourself?
Love owners who use ratios like 1 : 1 instead of descriptive words. Models are nice, my "1 : 1" FJ looks awful, a real clunker, its not, but not stock! Has chevy, pontiac parts, '65 model, been mine for 48 years! 😊
I don't think people realize how much time and skill are involved to make this thing. Just a work of art.
Thank you, I appreciate the nice words

Would it be possible to run the Boom Racing 1.55 Yota Classic wheels on this FMS model? Or would those wheels only work on the Gelande 2?
Fantastic job with the weathering, very subtle while still displaying the natural beauty of the truck! Happy trails bro!
Thank you!

Exactly! Brings another level of fun.
The wobbly truck brings me great joy. Looks great!
Amazing job, mate! You made the car look as if it had been used on a farm for many years without proper care. You gave the car some personality and a history.
Wow, thanks!
Genial trabajo
Te ha quedado fantástico.
Me encanta el resultado , gran realismo.
Saludos.
1000 times better with leaf springs & all your skills. Impressively great Toy & video 🙏
Thank you 🤗
For such a relatively short video, it's one of the most informative. Really enjoyed watching this (twice).
Glad you enjoyed it and learned something. Thanks for watching (twice)!
Incredible transformation! Love the color!
Well done my friend!
Thank you! Cheers!

Awesome, thank you!
FMS FJ40 Makeover!!!~~~ Great video! 👍Perfect work, a very nice car and a great location! 👏 🙏👏
Thank you very much!
Brilliant Richard, you added just the right amount of weathering, love it!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I like what you did with paint and weathering... wheels & hub caps.
Good work. Cute 😺 kitty
Excellent work. Your FJ looks very realistic.

Love this. I have a rusty full-size BJ42 in mustard and want to age the yellow FMS the way you did this one. The paint color is my favorite 40 color.
Right on! Mustard is the best color
Awesome!! The patina looks great! I love the wheel, tires and hub caps. I do think you need to make those seats look worn a bit. Nice Job.
Thanks. Let's pretend it's been mechanically rebuilt and got some new seats for comfort.
@@turksandjerps My 1:1 is like that. Mechanically new and patinaed AF
I bought your inner fender wells and window trim kit, fabulous product fits perfectly really adds to the scale appearance of the fj40
I think you have my mistaken for someone else?
Congratulations on the magnificent work! Could you tell me which tire wheels you used? Thanks
Thank you, wheels and tires are by FMS, I took them off of my 1/6 Jimny model
Amazing work on the rig, and great video again!! Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
Wow. Just wow. An absolute work of art.
Many thanks
Nice re-build work
Thanks 👍
Nicely done, as always. I never thought about using a toothbrush for weathering before. It looks like it works great.

@@turksandjerpsI agree completely. This has a 1971-72 look while getting several details wrong.
Very beautiful work I really liked how much detail you put into the Cruze curious if you would take on clients sir
I do side projects sometime but this is mostly just a hobby of mine
Very nice video, great job. I would like to know what you did to dampen the leafs?
Thank you. I used the original shocks with the springs removed.
Looking good and want to paint my blue one now. Wanted to wait cause its new 😅
How’d you make that cat so small? Super scale 😂
Haha
Great makeover, inspiring ! that was a very lucky bug at 7:46 !😅
Thanks 😅
This Toyota model looks very realistic now, great job! 💯👏
👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers
Why did you disassemble it?
Someone told me it had candy inside
I would have to paint mine in the iconic FJ40 Rustic Green color code 621, but yours is a good rendition of Spring Green T1028.
Sounds good thanks
I liked this video, but not one of your other videos. 😂 How easy is the leaf spring conversion with their kit?
It’s as easy as taking apart the whole chassis and replacing everything with new stuff
Awesome! I'd love to see someone do a FST version of this.
That would be cool!
Amazing! Really enjoyed watching your process. So much work, great job.
Thank you so much!
Nice work. A lot of them have been repainted already though. Not the first but very nice none the less!
Oh really? What colors? I don’t follow RC stuff too closely.
Congratulations. It was so realistic!
Thank you! Cheers!
WOW! That is AMAZING! EXCELLENT work/art!! Can I ask how you got the Land Cruiser emblem off the side bibs? I want to color match mine to my fullsized one, and that's the scariest part of disassembly for me.
Thanks! I used a #17 chisel blade and gently pried them off. They were held on by a rubberized glue so be careful not to bed the thin metal emblem.
@@turksandjerps Thank you for replying. Again, your 40 looks amazing! What a skill!
Beautiful work on this! Can I ask if those are the wheels and tires from the 1/6 scale Willy's Jeep?
Thanks, they were from the 1/6 Jimny which I believe has the same wheels as the Willy's.
Great vid on the mods and really nice driving footage! Who makes those tires? I need that type for a build I'm planning.
Thanks! Wheels/tires are from the FMS 1/6 Jimny.
Amazing. That is my next model and will be done like yours but different colours.
Cool 👍
Nice car mate, looks real, great paint!!!🥇👍👍👍

Glad you found the humor and I agree, the truck needed a little wear to the paint.
This looks great! What wheels did you use? they look so much better than the stock wheels.
Thanks, FMS 1:6 Jimny wheels, custom made hub caps
Wow, the rig looks amazing ! So scale . Is that a period correct color ? Seems like a color from that era . Wheel and tire compliment it very nicely, great job! 👍
Thanks! The paint is the nearest Krylon color match I could find to the OEM colors without getting custom paint made.
You, Sir, are an artist!
You can come by and ruin some of my stuff. ❤the truck. ❤ the video. ❤the kitten.🥰
Deal!
Just subscribed this is awesome. Where woukd i get the skinny wheels and tyres?
Thanks for subscribing! Wheels and tires are from FMS 1/6 Jimny
@turksandjerps thankyou very much

That's an awesome way to make it worse.
What product did you use te make the front windscreen foggy/dusty ?
A light spray of satin clear

Thanks. Yes they are from the Jimny
Great picture show as always man, love the scale trail running.

That is really nice looking truck! Did you put any extra weight on it? Going pretty realisticly already...🤩
Thanks, no extra weight besides adding the driver figure.
I enjoyed the video. It's so cool that it's vintage
What wheels and tires did you replace?
Where can I buy it?
Thanks for watching. Wheels and tires were from FMS Jimny. I think you can buy them separately from their website.
great and beautiful job 👍🏼🤗😍

Soooo much better 😍😍😍 good job, and skills
Nice job as always. Pitbull NDTs or the ones from FMS themselves?
FMS from the 1/6 I had before

Hello friend, could you tell me what tires you put on it and where you bought them?
Hello, they are from FMS 1:6 Jimny

Satisfying build and great result, but I can't quite make out what the cheeky bumper sticker says and I'm sad about it.
“I’m not really a fan of bumper stickers but this one is okay I guess” from an old SBG sticker sheet
Very nice, wish i had time for this
Thanks me too
Outstanding
Aww kitty
Is there a way to put another hood on this chassis?
I don’t see why not. Anything is possible
can i get a link for the tires and rims please? i can not find any appropriate for this build online.
They are the wheels and tires from the FMS 1:6 scale Jimny
Great work, I love it!
Can you list all paints used?
