Absolutely a well done rig. I'll have one in the fleet soon enough along with swapping over the leafs. I think a HW Fusion SE would be right at home in there as well.
Thanks for the Video and all the Info! What I would like to know, that you didn't address in the Video is how you dealt with the Steering Links. The Leaf Springs and mount on top of the Axle is really messing everything up. I'm not really sure about how I'm going to get this to work. Thanks!
Hey Jeremy, I just finished watching RAD RCs live Q&A from a few weeks ago, which led me to your channel. Which, by the way, is very cool. Thanks for sharing. I wish I would have known about Operation 11 Charlie a few days ago. I'm a huge FJ40 fan, picking up my 1st one back in late 80s while stationed in Little Creek, VA. Being a FJ fan I've been collecting related items for yrs. (one being the RC4WD rig). Im now just getting into scalers, but I've been into RCs since my Grasshopper, Blackfoot days. (Yes I'm old. Lol) Anyway when I saw the FMS release i purchase one ( from FMS site) in Mustard Yellow. When I received it and saw the quality I turned around a got the Sky Blue model, which is the color of my '77. I just really wish I knew about 11C as to purchase thru the link to have a percent go toward the cause. Needless to say when I order my parts for my builds, I'll be sure to use the links. I have to read up on the organization and the good it's doing for our brothers and sisters. Again thanks, I really enjoy the channel. Mike(NY)
Now we can hear it all. Thank you for sharing. Where did you get the shocks? The spring lifts, if you added another lift would it lift the body more for bigger tires, like 2.2? Would it affect the other components, like the drive shaft, I’m assuming it’s adjustable, no…? Thanks aging!
The leaf spring kits are directly from FMS and there is a link to them in the description of the video. 2.2 sized wheels can be fit but it is additional stress on driveline components.
Due to where I’m at I do not have the best ability to hear you. But from what I understand you added this leaf spring conversion from another kit and fitted it to this FJ40 kit?
thanx for this vid sooooo fast, i have this on order and also ordered 2 sets of leaf springs, i already have a mashigan with fusion combo and i want it to be leaf as well, from your experience could the leafs be installed under the axle like stock fj? and maybe smaller more scale stock tires? if its possible i might get 2 fj one lifted and one stock looking.
Where do you get the Machigan leaf conversion kit from? I appreciate if you send back some info how and from where to get it. I am from UK, but I have family members in the US, if it is easier that way. Thanks
I have an actual FJ45, 1978, very similar truck it’s just that mine is a pick up. I’ll be getting the 1:12 scale of the FJ45 FMS has and upgrade it as you did this one. I’d love to upgrade both trucks. Lift them up a little more with these lift spring sets and perhaps a little bit bigger tires, like 2.2 from my Traxxas sport high lift truck. What do you think, any suggestions? Thanks!
Can you post the part number for the leaf spring kit please? In the video it's so blurry I can not read it...iwant to order this tonight if I can Thank you
Got mine with non functional radio, missing parts and boy is customer service terrible. They want me to prove a negative that the thing does not work, now they are ignoring me and I still have no idea where or when I will see my front and back leaf springs. They have or maybe just pretend to have a phone help, but after a while you realize nobody is ever going to answer. Hope you have all had a better experience. Still have not been able to run it yet.
Hi sir i just both the kit leaf spring kit front and rear is there a way you can help me to install by means of bottom picture of your rig front and rear cause i dont have instruction or manual.pls🙏
@@tonton_cloude2093 the stock shocks do not hold oil. I put a set of inexpensive 90mm shocks on that do hold oil so the truck isn’t bouncy. The shocks also prevent the over extension of the leafs to keep them from getting bent up easily.
Top, thank you very much. I'm a bit of a novice in this field and all the information I can gather can only improve my experience. In any case, you've done a great job.
I tried this today but now it looks crooked and idk what I did wrong 🤦🏾♂️ I tried following along and slowing it down. Does anybody know why mine looks crooked ?
Your tutorial helped me a lot with the assembly. THANKS
Amazing build. FMS really should have given it leaf springs.
And scale wheels/tires.
Dang Stg major that for sure is a show stopper nice!!!!👍👊💯🔥
Omg !! The slow version will be better for understanding how to 😢… the leaf kit.. a must have !
Красивая модель! Поздравляю с покупкой!
Thank you

Awesome leaf spring conversion. Still thinking of getting one, although she’s a looker. Very informative video 😊 thanks
The details are awesome & the leaf spring swap is legit! I’m diggin’ this one for sure 🔥💯🤙
Love this! Excellent video and great details. I just have the Blue one here and will be doing a video on it soon. Looks an awesome bit of kit..
Ordered mine! I will be doing leaf from my spare Jimny. Also plan on painting the window trim.
Nice! You’ll love it!
So many details!!! I wish to have one very soon🤟Thanks for this helpfully video review!!!🥇👍👍👍

I added a 10mm spacer between the servo horn and the link to lower it down and get the geometry closer.
Hello there, 💯 happy with this fj40 40 .
Please give me a link or information where to buy the leaf springs conversion kit 🙏.
CHEERS 🍻
Links to the leaf spring kits are in the description.
Great!! Video with leaf springs in action?
Working on it now!

Si haces esto, me uno para siempre! 😂🎉
I see one of these in my future. This fold up bench’s or an awesome touch. Can the back be removed to make it open backed? Love the look of it though
You can remove the top but the windshield will need supported.

Can you tell me what shocks you installed? Thanks, sweet rig and review. 👍
Stock shocks. Removed the springs and put 2K diff fluid in them. I am looking for suitable replacements tho.
Got ya, you removed the springs and added the oil 👍
Hello sir, what is the size of the leaf spring eye to eye..because it was not mention on FMS website..nice upgrade..thanks
I actually haven’t measured them.
Due to where I’m at I do not have the best ability to hear you. But from what I understand you added this leaf spring conversion from another kit and fitted it to this FJ40 kit?
Yes. I added the kit that is sold for the FMS Mashigan vehicle. The links to the products are in the video description
Cool project what makita electric drill is that I need one to work on my projects
mint! love the leaf mod
Thanks!

It’s certainly possible to leaf under and run a smaller tire.
thanx for the quick reply, and thanx for the vid of this swap sooooo fast, luuuuuv it

Now that you have a few months of run time... what are your thoughts? Good change or no?
The absolute best change for this rig! It drives so great on leafs!
@@ateaserc Thanks. I may have to do the same
Is it possible that you can post a video doing the leaf conversion in normal speed. Im trying to do mine . Thank you
It would take quite some time to do. I’ll give it a shot
@@ateaserc take your time and thanks for the reply
Did you have to change out the big plastic brace that holds the servo and the battery?
No. It is the same as the Mashigan so it didn’t need to be changed
@@ateaserc Great!! Thank You
Running video on leafs please
The running video is up. Thanks for your patience

2.2 would fit nice.
Awesome scale Cruiser, good job. What Milwaukee drill are you using?
It’s the M12 1/4” hex driver
Thank you. Did you change the chuck?
@@neilpowell6191 no, it’s the driver style not a drill style Chuck.
Many thanks. Keep your video coming.

How do you like this fj40, been looking?

Great rig for running and enjoying the details in a true scale

Does the top and doors come off?
They can be removed
How long are the leaf springs?
They are stock FMS leafs from the Jimny model.
on the other hand, what is the number of blades on each wheel. At home I have 3 and it seems very hard to me
I used only the main leaf on both front and rear
I have one more question and then I won't bother you anymore. Is there oil in the shock absorber body and what is its function 1with the leaf springs?
@@tonton_cloude2093 the stock shocks do not hold oil. I put a set of inexpensive 90mm shocks on that do hold oil so the truck isn’t bouncy. The shocks also prevent the over extension of the leafs to keep them from getting bent up easily.
