the badges on the back do curl/wrap a bit around the body bend. There are lots of reference images online that show exactly that. I really wish they had come up with a leaf sprung suspension though.
The metal 4wd and Toyota badges are the correct size. I drive a real fj40 and the real badges are curved so they wrap around the quarter panel. Cheers! Great vid btw
I bought my Toy FJ40 in 1973 new for $3400 new. Buffed it up with goodies from ORW and proceeded to drive all through the Baja ( Norte and Sur ) our local mountains ( Southern Calif ) and 4 years later sold it to a real estate developer for $ 3 grand even. My 2nd favorite vehicle # 1 was my 59 MGA....Aloha
If I'm allowed to sound wanky for a moment, there probably hasn't beena better time to be an RC addict. So many companies putting out good product. This truck looks really good, and looks like it goes well. I am starting to feel like a broken record tbh.
You often sound like a kid when you're driving the RC's with the yeahs, the nice, and all and i just want to say i absolutely love it man! makes me feel like I did when i was a kid out playing with my rc cars and trucks!!...😊..👍🏻..❤..😁..🤷🏻♂️
Great Scale/Trail truck. I own their 1/6 Suzuki Jimny, and after raising the suspension - adding bigger wheels and (in the process of) painting and adding a patina to the body - I have a great trail rig. I have swapped the esc to a 1080, and you are right, it makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Hey Phil, for those wanting leaf springs, apparently the 1/10 Atlas front & rear leaf spring upgrade kits from FMS are a direct fit onto this also. #winning
There is a guy that makes License plates here in the USA, you can have them made for whatever state you want so maybe even the UK? not sure. But the USA plates are awesome, and you can get plastic or metal!
Wow RC is finally doing what I have always dreamed of. Realistic interior realistic exterior with fully opening panels. Even the driving motion is realistic with soft suspension with body roll. If the tires were a bit softer it will be perfect.
I put a 1080 esc and winch + other accessories on mine and I’m always amazed how scale it looks driving around. The 1080 makes a huge difference in drivability too.
That’s been me saying if they get into 1:10 scale the other major players best take notice they already own the small scale world. Right when I saw it & how it performs for the price I knew I’m getting one it was that quick. This is a nicely ace scale RC from what I’ve seen the shocks need to be replaced but it ran nicely & looked great doing it. Definitely have to get some passengers for it. 4:20
So much attention to the details of the body, even putting in a servo so the steering wheel turns, but they still do the chassis mounted steering servo instead of axel mount. and everything under it is plastic. I think its price is good, much lower than i was expecting, but id pay a little more for improvements that are going to make it operate better, rather than just look better.
Is a beautiful rolling, scale model trail truck, as you said. The way it rolled from side-t-side was very realistic and it looked an explorers rig going across the plains of some unexplored country. With all the detail I can't believe there is no battery strap or bar. This is an excellent review.
RC4WD already done a FJ40 series in 1/10 but it's good to have a new one so hopefully it will become more common in Australia as our crawler meets are majority Toyota's rather than jeeps... I hate the fact it's LHD tho but if a let down 👎 but not all bad it's got a Queensland plate tho haha the state I'm from
Awesome video and absolutely sweeeet rig Phil! So, I did the conversions of all the measurements and rounded them off slightly. The wheelbase is 1/6.74 scale, the length is 1/6.78 scale, and the width is 1/6.22 scale. I get the whole "10th scale" as a roundabout size for rigs, but it's way too big to run it with a lot of 1/10 scale rigs in comparison to them. My RedCat Gen8 is also marketed as a 1/10 scale but it's actually 1/7.84 scale, and it's enormous next to many 1/10 scale rigs so I can't even imagine how this would look next to a true 1/10 scale rig. The moral of the story is that I want one so badly! 😂😂😂😂😂
Pretty nice rig indeed, your channel is the best youtube channel on the Interweb!!! Keep posting them up so I can relive my childhood from "across the pond"
Nice one. So are we going to get to see a follow up? I wanna see heavy weighted wheels, upgraded tyres. Better esc. Surely this thing will have on some decent crawler stuff as well…?
I'm a new viewer. This is the 1st video I've seen of a pre made, pre painted RC model. I'm so glad because I can't do anything except maybe put on the wheels
FMS does the scale looks really well. A friend in high school a long time ago had an FJ40 and I remember it seemed to bounce a lot... might have needed new shocks.
A bunch of Aussies recently drove an electric converted full-size FJ40 across Darwin Harbour. - 30 metres underwater. 8 kilometre crossing. Took them about 12 hours. They were asked if they were worried about crocodiles. "Nah mate, the sharks have eaten all rhe crocs." There are videos of their little adventure on this here RUclips. It's worth a watch.
It's really nice think its more trail truck, think it would look great slightly weathereded, but ive been asking for a 6th scale defender and or hilux 🤤🤤 ,
Rc4wd has had the Gelende 2 Land Cruiser since like 2015… idk how I feel about this fms I do love Land Cruisers but this model seems very cheap from the pictures and it’s definitely 7th scale like the Mashagin
Well I was gonna wait for the v3 lc80 fcx18 to drop, but the wife gave me the ok on this bad boy. It looks incredible. I'm glad they are branching out into the larger scales, although I wish they would just call these 1/7-1/6 it's got almost an inch and a half more wheelbase then my axial scx10 II. I just gotta figure out ...yellow... Or blue.
FMS are really starting to gain traction, and go places. 🎉 No, really. I like it, but I am a bit of a Toyota fan. I like this, especially given its 1/10. Very nice review and footage.
Today at the FMS festival they revealed the new models 1:10 scale crawlers that look just like the mini Blazer with all the features of a TRX 4 plus more with new never before seen light mounts. There’s a new king in the RTR 1:10 scale crawler world. I spoke to the owner & they will be available in November I did get pictures of them & the chassis it’s the most well thought out 1:10scale RTR I’ve ever seen. They didn’t want to let go of the price yet but he did manage to give me a few clues.
Very cool looking truck. Looking at the price I see FMS is starting to think they are more, than they are... Prices are definitely rising as these rigs become more popular.. IMO
Given the choice between the 2, I'd go with the FMS body and the RC4WD chassis. The RC4WD body looks great but doesn't have the same level of detail the FMS has
the badges on the back do curl/wrap a bit around the body bend. There are lots of reference images online that show exactly that. I really wish they had come up with a leaf sprung suspension though.
4:11 holy crap that's some scale detail there, operating door handles? and padded bench seats? damn...fms is upping their game.....
FMS is killing it in the scale game lately. Loving this FJ40. I would LOVE to see them do the 80-Series Land Cruiser in 1/10.
Yeah mate! They do that and I'll be one of their first customers 🤙
I'm surprised someone hasn't re created topgear boliva special with these things
I want to see a 60 like my real one!
The metal 4wd and Toyota badges are the correct size. I drive a real fj40 and the real badges are curved so they wrap around the quarter panel. Cheers! Great vid btw

RC4WD, Gelandë Fj40 hardbody, possibly leafs too I forget though.
My my. I might have found a Christmas present for myself. I love how it wobbles around.
It’ll look good with a Christmas tree strapped down on it 😅
I can see it. Cheers, Tomley.
You've really been upping your cinematic game these days. I love all the camera work and angles in this video.
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it 😎🤘
If I'm allowed to sound wanky for a moment, there probably hasn't beena better time to be an RC addict. So many companies putting out good product. This truck looks really good, and looks like it goes well. I am starting to feel like a broken record tbh.
Yes, certainly a good time for RC recently
Definitely
Explain that to my bank account.. 😂
Action figures are going through a golden age as well
It’s the worst because of how many there are. I can’t buy them all!
You often sound like a kid when you're driving the RC's with the yeahs, the nice, and all and i just want to say i absolutely love it man! makes me feel like I did when i was a kid out playing with my rc cars and trucks!!...😊..👍🏻..❤..😁..🤷🏻♂️
Get out there with a modern RC. They are incredible! You'll be smiling like a ten year old at Xmas
beautiful looking truck
Agree
I really hope FMS blow up ! They put out some of the best budget models
How are they gonna make cool rc trucks if they blow up 😢
Great Scale/Trail truck.
I own their 1/6 Suzuki Jimny, and after raising the suspension - adding bigger wheels and (in the process of) painting and adding a patina to the body - I have a great trail rig.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I need to see this!
I got a few of those jimnys... cant beat it for 150 shipped!
I think some slightly stiffer damping would do it a lot of justice. Not much stiffer, just enough to slow the body roll slightly
Yeah, thicker oil I guess
@@TomleyRC yeah thicker oil
Hey Phil, for those wanting leaf springs, apparently the 1/10 Atlas front & rear leaf spring upgrade kits from FMS are a direct fit onto this also. #winning
Pretty cool, would like to see open diff/lockable option on it though.
There is a guy that makes License plates here in the USA, you can have them made for whatever state you want so maybe even the UK? not sure. But the USA plates are awesome, and you can get plastic or metal!
RC4WD has had a 1/10 Gelande “Cruiser” (FJ40) on the market for years. Hardbody, highly detailed, complete interior. You can get it as a kit, or RTR.
Very cool, looks almost identical as the 1970 F40 I had. even the rear seats look the same
The fj40 babges do have a slight bend in them and go around that corner slightly.
Wow RC is finally doing what I have always dreamed of. Realistic interior realistic exterior with fully opening panels.

Omg that is a beauty, despite the small oversights, FMS nails it again
If this body fits on the 1/10 RC4WD FJ40 chassis I'll be amazed. RC4WD need a kick up they ass to get moving with new and improved models / bodies.
Wow.... spettacolare...gran bel modello ... ciao dall'Italia

Nice review, looks great on the trail, think RC4WD do an FJ40 but I expect its like £600- £1000
So much attention to the details of the body, even putting in a servo so the steering wheel turns, but they still do the chassis mounted steering servo instead of axel mount. and everything under it is plastic. I think its price is good, much lower than i was expecting, but id pay a little more for improvements that are going to make it operate better, rather than just look better.
It’s certainly not perfect, but I’d say for the price… yes, it’s decent 👌
with slow mo the the suspension play looks so realistic, awesome !

Loved the under shots or chassis shots! Great model for sure!
Cheers dude

The Python X and Perentie would probably be a great combo in this Rig. It looks like it would benefit from a true slow crawl.
Yes probably
Nice one. So are we going to get to see a follow up? I wanna see heavy weighted wheels, upgraded tyres. Better esc. Surely this thing will have on some decent crawler stuff as well…?
That LC is AWESOME!!! -Ken
Tomley your humbleness and attention to detail about the rcs you show are amazing. Thank you for giving us great content to watch 🙂
FMS always make great scale looking vehicles.
One day.
Agree
Gorgeous trail truck! I want one!
I'm a new viewer. This is the 1st video I've seen of a pre made, pre painted RC model.
I'm so glad because I can't do anything except maybe put on the wheels
The FJ looks great. It would look great with a patina finish.
FMS does the scale looks really well. A friend in high school a long time ago had an FJ40 and I remember it seemed to bounce a lot... might have needed new shocks.
So awesome I want 1.that will be my first 1/10 scale.i have fms 1/18 and wpl's aswell.glad to see you got 1 first. Looks very realistic. I love it
I always love the body roll on these big RC trucks. I had a FTC Kanyon, loved the body roll on that. Great video as always Tomley!
Yeah, it’s actually pretty good if you drive it ‘scale’…. If you just go flat out everywhere it just looks wrong
Absolutely!@@TomleyRC
P.S. Great camera views under the chassis, very nice touch. 🤘@@TomleyRC
Any Trail truck that doesn't have the whiny sound is pretty cool I hate it when you hear the server Aulani that's a nice little truck though
Love it!! Even the door handles work, it looks great, and the driver was " totally. switched on, baby yeah!! " another great video‼️👍👍🦾🦾🤘🤘
All it needs, is a scale antenna at the front :) Looks super AMAZING!
A bunch of Aussies recently drove an electric converted full-size FJ40 across Darwin Harbour.

The badge size is correct. I had an FJ40 and those badges bend around a bit
It's really nice think its more trail truck, think it would look great slightly weathereded, but ive been asking for a 6th scale defender and or hilux 🤤🤤 ,
1/6 Hilux… yes please
pretty awesome.. I don't buy FMS.. but that ones pretty sweet..
Very lovely and invigorating.
Good review . The super scale stuff is getting better all the time .
Love it! Just ordered one in blue and found an Austin Powers along with a Fembot 9” action figure for it…. 🤩
That thing is fire!
Wow that’s an awesome FMS FJ40 great looking truck I wish fms would send me some rc trucks 😊
Wow that's epic. I am going to get one and trade chassis' with my jimny.
Really nice model 👌
Certainly is
RC$WD did do an FJ40 on the Gelande 2 chassis. Don’t know if they still do it
Your content is quality!
Cheers dude… appreciate it
Rc4wd has had the Gelende 2 Land Cruiser since like 2015… idk how I feel about this fms I do love Land Cruisers but this model seems very cheap from the pictures and it’s definitely 7th scale like the Mashagin
You've done another good review Bravo Zulu
😇
One of the most realistic bodies I’ve ever seen on a RC
Queenslander plates are a noice choice, too bad it's LHD...
I like that it's "empty". You can equip and stuff it with all you like😁
Excellent filming too
Well I was gonna wait for the v3 lc80 fcx18 to drop, but the wife gave me the ok on this bad boy. It looks incredible. You strongly favor Ralphie from the Christmas story movie !
Oh Fudge
@@TomleyRC that’s great! Appreciate the awesome rc content
That was bloody good fun to watch lol, bet you had a great time filming this.
Okay I really like this one!
Fms are getting better and better more scale and better traction
I agree 👌
Nice one tomley good shots ! Shout out from Australia
Superb review...this kind of video you hope the manufacturer will watch and take notes...
beautiful truck!
Great rig, beautiful. Great video too, so relaxing
Thanks dude
Wow! A Queensland number plate??? The colour's even correct!!
really bad ass little rig, might have to pick up one of these myself
Looks fantastic and yeah think the yellow one will be the better looking one! Top review buddy!
What a great looking vehicle
FMS are really starting to gain traction, and go places. 🎉
No, really. I like it, but I am a bit of a Toyota fan. I like this, especially given its 1/10. Very nice review and footage.
Yeah, let's see what they give us in the next 12 months!
It is not real 1/10.... It is more like 1/7
One of my buddies has a real functional one, great thing up close
Today at the FMS festival they revealed the new models 1:10 scale crawlers that look just like the mini Blazer with all the features of a TRX 4 plus more with new never before seen light mounts. Great effort, fair play... and that packaging. Wow 👌
Glove box needs to be color matched to the instrument bezel as well
Love the slow-mo stuff, just needs some authentic-ish engine sounds to accompany it 😉
Tomely the metal plate badge come a little bit bend. And that's a realistic badge 👌 😊
What a stunning scale rig !
I would buy the orange one, and turn it into Richard Hammonds Landcruiser in the Bolivia Special. It would be a one to one for Hammond himself.
Oh yeah, groovy baby ooh, shake it, yeah.
Hi mate, enjoy watching your videos. Have you thought about doing a video on the 4wdrc trail finder 3
Very cool looking truck. Looking at the price I see FMS is starting to think they are more, than they are... Prices are definitely rising as these rigs become more popular.. IMO
Yea, they need to start putting in better electronics if they are gonna raise the prices.

What a nice Jobby you've produced!
Given the choice between the 2, I'd go with the FMS body and the RC4WD chassis. The RC4WD body looks great but doesn't have the same level of detail the FMS has
Definitely a great looking truck
nice rig - if that is 1/10 scale then it is 1/10 scale of some other vehicle, that thing is huge, its 1/8 at best, that vehicle is kind of compact irl
Yeah, 1/8 or even bigger
Wow! 🤩 This is so cool.. i‘m usually totally not interested in rock crawlers, but this one looks amazing!
Every RC RUclipsrs using the same music samples lately. I like it haha
