This technique is new to me and consequently I have learned a lot from your detailed explanation. Thanks for such a well put together and informative video. I really like the fact that you are willing to share your files so that we can follow along. Post processing is an area for development for me.
That's a really interesting way of introducing texture. In the past I've merged three exposures as a HDR which does introduce more texture, but this way gives more creative control. I'm definitely going to give this a try.
Fabulous job Ian, I really don't like it when some people have too slow an exposure and all the water turns white with zero texture and detail, this method gives much better final results, it's fun to do in PS too. cheers.
Hello, Ian. I am curious as to your choices of Fuji film simulations in camera, and your choice of color profile/simulation in Lightroom. In this video, you appear to use Adobe Color, which is the default unless changed by the user. Thanks!
Thanks, again, Ian. Used to live on the edge of the Peak District myself, so know what a great location Padley Gorge is. Very informative video, especially the editing section, and, as luck has it, I should get the chance to try this technique in the next few days.
Great video Ian, I’ve got a number of your recommended gear ideas over time. (Love the Kase filters). Do your have any thoughts on using iridient x transformer DNG’S with lightroom/photoshop, opposed to the straight RAF file. I couldn’t recall you mentioning it in previous videos. Keep up the wonderful content.
Thanks Ian , informative video. I have question though. When composing your exposure is your light meter at zero/mid tone range or do you purely use your histogram? Thanks
Sorry Ian but didn’t get anything out of this. I suppose I was expecting the Orton Effect to create a dreamy looking image. As it turned out that wasn’t the case. I would have been happy with a single exposure. Great location😊
Thanks Barry. Not for everyone but that's the beauty of photography, we all have ideas that appeal to our own individual styles. Thanks for watching though 👍👍
I note that the Camera your using in this video is not the XH2 and therefore your losting is inacreate. I paused the video several times trying to clock the lens you were using on this one but as im new to fuji could not recognise it.

Fantastic video Ian, really enjoyed it. Very nice to see the whole workflow from shooting right through to the finished image.
Cheers Rod 😀😀👍
Very useful and Informative Ian, a good watch, and a lovely crafted image to end with.

Excellent video, Ian. Very informative and well presented. I love shooting waterfalls so I'll give this a try the next time I'm out.
Thanks buddy 🙏😀👍
Nice piece of postprocessology. Thanks!
Thanks simon 👍😀🙏
Cheers Ian. Nice to see the complete workflow from shooting right through the edit.
Thanks Alan 👍👍🙏

Very cool! Thanks buddy 👍👍🙏
Well done Ian.. tricky to put that one together .. good job sir
Thanks Ian 👍
Great video, techniques we can use to improve our photos are much more relevant than camera/lens reviews. Thanks Ian!
Glad it was helpful! 🙏🙏👍

Thanks 👍 yes its definitely a good technique to use to bring back some detail 🙏🙏👍
Great video Ian as always. The technique really does add something to the image. Thanks
Thanks buddy 🙏😀👍
I usually do my editing in LR and don’t venture into PS but you made it easy to follow your workflow. I will definitely try it out. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! 😀👍👍

You’re welcome 😊 👍👍

Thanks buddy, Yeah ive been thinking of doing a comparison video. 👍👍😀
Great video Ian. I am at the beginning of my photoshop learning and this helped a lot. I will be trying this out soon. 👍
Glad it was helpful! 👍👍
I’ll be trying this out Ian, seems a better approach than the usual HDR merge as you loads more control. Thanks for uploading this!
You're welcome Richard, glad you enjoyed it 👍👍🙏
Great explanation of some useful techniques .... I'm gradually dipping more into PS and this is really helpful 🙂
Glad it was helpful! 👍👍😀
Really enjoying your videos. Well presented, informative, and nice to watch. Thank you.
Glad you like them! 👍👍🙏
Thanks Ian , informative video. I have question though. When composing your exposure is your light meter at zero/mid tone range or do you purely use your histogram? Thanks
I'm using the combination of the live view and histogram to achieve my exposure, never really look at the meter for landscapes. Thanks for watching👍👍
Great tutorial Ian, I will download the raw files when I have a spare few mins and give that a go. Keep up the great work 👍📷
Go for it! Have fun 🙏🙏😀
great video
Glad you enjoyed it 👍👍🙏
I shot from the precise spot a month ago. I got some decent photos looking down stream from there.
That's awesome David, its a great spot for sure 👍👍🙏
Excellent video.
Thank you very much! 🙏🙏
Noticed you show your camera equipment as an X-T3. Pretty sure you were using an X-H1.
yep xt3 and xh1 😀👍👍
Hi Ian, Where was this image made?
Padley gorge in the peak district 👍👍
