Van Halen Eruption Solo With Commentary

Joe Satriani is my favorite soloist but this piece deserves to be at the top with anyone else. I don't think this is a number 2 and there are many number one's. He made this warming up, lol, that's how insane this is. Those were the days before hip hop and gangster rap.

The tapping run in Eruption, the one right after Ed throws his pick, is where everyone thought “what TF is that?!?” When they first heard it. Nobody heard an electric guitar make those sounds before. The thing that made Edward stand out from the other virtuosos like Hendrix, Clapton and Page was that he played masterful guitar in songs you could sing along with and dance to

Sorry…Eruption is the most “well known & popular” Guitar Solo in “PopRock” - not the best!
90% of people who think this is great…haven’t heard the great players…or can’t play guitar!
This is just “alright” to me…because I have heard the great players..& seen them!
