Netflix and whoever made this decision on the management side at things probably regretted their decision. Part 6 didn't even come close to the cultural impact the previous parts had.
Nah, the one that regretted anything was DavidPro for having to work with Netflix. If Netflix cared about killing anime with their shitty binge model, they would have done something about this long ago since this isn't even close to their first time.
@@OnionKnightRises The decision of giving Netflix exclusive streaming rights did not come from DP. They are just an animation studio commissioned by producers to make the anime, they don't decide that kind of thing. This came from Warner Bros, since they have already done this plenty of timed with other series produced by them like Bastard and Records of Ragnarok.
What’s ironic is that Netflix WAS releasing weekly episodes of Komi Can’t Communicate, another anime that debuted around the time they started airing Part 6. Why they thought it was okay to do it with the former and not the latter is baffling considering one’s a slice of life anime and the other is a shonen.
I think the worst part, for me, is that Netflix is probably going to look at the viewership drop and think it's just a bad product rather than looking at themselves and how they handled Stone Ocean as the problem. Which means that if they do decide to take on a future JoJo release if they don't outright drop it, they might pull this bullshit again x.x
Of course, you think a company is gonna admit it's own mistakes when there's someone else to blame? This is a very textbook case of irresponsible behavior.
I'm just hoping they think badly enough of Jojo to stay away from it. I simply don't have an ounce of faith they'd actually learn anything good from stone ocean and that would be imo the next best thing
I'm hoping it doesn't get spun like that, because from what I can tell the other seasons of Jojo's get consistent viewership as well as getting new viewers at a steady pace when new people discover the series and watch from the start, so with that in mind Stone Ocean is the outlier, and there's only 3 explanations they can fall back on: 1) the release schedule was fucked (the correct answer) 2) people don't want to watch a predominantly female Jojo part (super incorrect, but I can see someone using that as a scapegoat in a meeting) 3) stone ocean as a whole is weaker than the other parts (debatable, I personally like it, but I know a lot of fans rate it near the bottom of ranking lists even before the anime started) knowing that it's warner brothers and netflix taking the heat for this, I'm going to bet they are picking option 3, it's the safest option that absolves them of responsibility , even though the schedule is the primary reason by a fucking mile
Its genuinely wild how netflix was able to grab a show that had such a strong sense of community and genuinely murder every ounce of hype around it, even to the point that one of the biggest events in the entire series hardly got talked about
And when batch 1 came out with no release for batch 2, I kinda was just content with waiting until it was all out to watch the part, but it took so long and had so little fan fair that to this day I still haven't watched it yet
@@19moswald.osley93 ......um, are you new? Stone Ocean wasn't "developed" by netflix, they just released it on their platform. David pro, the company that's made all the other parts made this.
I felt like it was trash because of the fact literally everything I watched in the past has nothing to do with the next seasons and is in a completely different universe. Seems like a huge letdown to me personally, I really liked the storyline and lore of jojo before steel ball run
This is the most upsetting to me honestly, you get JoJo getting bigger and bigger each season to the point that the anime made pretty much a lot of people either change their tune or at least view part 5 in a much better light compared back then when the anime wasn't airing yet, part 6 had the perfect build up to it with manga readers being excited to see how they'd do part 6 after they did part 5 amazingly and for anime watchers they just finished a hype adaptation of part 5. Now we get to the part where obviously it's the culmination of every past JoJo part, it's in a way THE end to JoJo at least in the sense of it's the end of the JoJos everyone's been watching/reading because obviously after that we go into new universes, by all accounts they already had the perfect amount of hype leading up to it and manga readers like myself were sooooo hyped to see the reaction to the last parts because holy shit when it was just in manga only it was a crazy moment, all of us got so hyped imagining the anime watchers reacting to Made In Heaven, Jotaro getting sliced, etc but...none of it happened even when it actually released sure there were some reactions but not something you'd expect from JoJo. Part 5 anime alone had such moments that got amazing hype and traction from internet communities, Part 6's end should be THE moment for every JoJo watcher by then and it was...nothing. God, I am honestly so sad thinking about how nothing the reactions to part 6 was, it's not my favorite part but no one can deny that the final parts of Stone Ocean should've made everyone go crazy.
@@CheeseZezify people don't react well to dream endings. That's what this was. Emporio wakes up from a dream and none of it actually happened. Terrible ending.
@@peckypork prove me wrong. The only one who remembers what happened is emporio, all other characters are different people cause events changed, so what's the difference between this and having him wake up from a coma and meeting them? There is none. I can tell people the whole season was just emporios dream and it would make just as much sense.
@@treytavares1727 the difference between that is that what happened in SO ACTUALLY did happen, unlike the "it was all a dream" ending where the actions of the characters have no more weight since the end goal didn't actually exist. In SO however, there was a clear end goal, and the result of that changed everything and everyone except for emporio. You're just simplify sh*t just to prove you're point without even understanding the events in SO.
As much as I loved the anime, it really didn’t get the amount of hype it deserved. Remember how the internet was blowing up with memes and talk about every part 5 episode, that’s what I was hoping for with stone ocean. The biggest disappointment was that no one online was talking about the ending. I was hoping to see some amazing reactions too it, but by that point the hype was pretty much dead
The batch release was absolutely my biggest complaint. I've never been a huge fan of it, but especially for anime/ tv shows that I really enjoy I much rather prefer a weekly release to give me something to look forward to each week.
For me, either release an episode once a week or release the full season all at once. I tend to wait until the full season is done so I have something to binge. And I am a huge jjba fan. Didn't even know that all of part 6 was released because of how poorly handled the series was. I do know that in Japan, when part 6 came out, Araki had to fight like hell to keep Jolyne because of her being the main character in a shonen since at the time, female characters were on average just love interests, brains, or legally blonde. Unfortunately, part 6 didn't sell as well in Japan until later though. One of my favorite parts because of the stories it told.
If you have a weekly release of a show like jojo who runs almost 40 episodes, you literally almost have a full year of every week new hype. Its absolutely unbelievable they didnt keep that going
The saddest thing about this for me is that the last batch of part six is my favorite thing in all of JoJo. The fights were so insane and downright terrifying to think about and it really impacted me; like I had nightmares about being on a plane that's gonna crash, and because of how Netflix handled it, it's overlooked and it's being treated badly through the lack of blu-ray improvements.
Every Jojo fan should have watched part 6 by now, regardless of whether they binged batches or waited until it all came out. We should all be caught up with each other and talking about what was great about it, no matter when we chose to watch it. Quality appreciation shouldn’t be dismissed just because it wasn’t in real time.
@@Cerdmasterjgcc I’ve seen people shit on it just because it’s a filler stand right before the Cape Canaveral shit, but in my honest opinion I was kinda terrified reading that arc in the manga. If anything, Bohemian Rhapsody is worse than Jailhouse Lock, but even that gets a pass because of “If there’s no Mickey, that shit ain’t Disney”
@@galenmarek4582 bohemian rhapsody wasn’t interesting at all tbh, the stakes were huge but the solution was super goofy, jailhouse lock was truly horrifying and the way it was portrayed in the anime showing Jolyne already in the middle of the cycle after an unknown amount of time has passed was great, also the reveal that emporio was also under the effects blew my mind dude
It's wild how they chose the worst of both worlds. Weekly releases are cool because you have something to look forward to throughout the week, releasing all at once is cool because you can binge it all in one weekend. Releasing in batches means you get neither!
its a shame because i found out recently that one of the main animation directors Kohei Ashiya wasn't involved at all with part 6, which sucks because he played a major major roll in making sure everything looked good. He said once that he loves jojo so much he'd basically work for free to make it look as good as possible and he helped make part 5 look outstanding. I believe he also was the one that said that they would never do steel ball run if they have to CG the horses. really wish he was on the team.
Guess he won't do SBR since they def Will use CG for horses, and no not the same that was used in early part 6, but HOPEFULLY the same as Mappa's style with how good the CG characters blend
@@richarddavis8863 Do you understand how animation is done? a horse animation ALONE can take a week for a simple straight walking animation, with the equipment added add to the colors, the shading, the cycle for the tail, get's longer if done with it moving around
@Kamil If they'll do it for stands and characters they'll absolutely use it for all the horses. I feel like we're a few steps removed from the berserk movies at this point
@@KBhunterx262 If they ever do part 7 in the future maybe David productions should ask Wit Studio for a helping hand, they have experience at drawing horse in AOT.
God was it really 9 months? Honestly I forgot we had to wait that long. Netflix really managed to kill any kind of hype regarding one of the most popular anime series. An impressive feat.
That should tell you something about where the popularity of Jojo’s actually came from, and how fragile it was if this is all it took to ruin it. The sad truth beneath the surface of this debacle.
I was so busy jumping between three jobs, dealing with turbulant real life issues, snd generally just letting Stone Ocean slip my mind entirely that by time I got around to watching it all the batches were released and I got to watch it all the way through without waiting months at a time. It kept my hype going and I personally love Stone Ocean, its my favorite part so far! I got really lucky this time I guess, but man it sucks loving a part that nobody else seems to even really care about
same, i eventually forgot about stone ocean part 2 cuz life happened, so i recently watched it after a year of stone ocean release, love love this part but i wish it had more comedic relief
@@bumpkin8009 height of the pandemic was 2020-2021. animes production was mostly throughout 2022. even then it doesn't excuse that them taking LONGER to produce the episodes than it took part 5, should mean that they were doing so to make sure its quality is on par with part 5's; which it wasn't.
Wow, you really spoke out from the hearth, this adaptation really did the part dirty. Let's us all hope Steel Ball Run recieves the care and treatment it deserves.
Also Steel Ball Run is a much longer part of JoJo compared to Stone Ocean. Stone Ocean had 17 volumes like Golden Wind while Steel Ball Run had 24 volumes. Also Jojolion was just finished as a manga on August 2021 and that was 27 volumes. So if Netflix does this whole batching bs like what they did to Stone Ocean, then it’s just going to drag even longer than before.
Netflix can do weekly release of episodes like other shows have that are on there, then it can be easily accessible and it releases weekly on fridays like the previous parts
@@mighty149writer6 That’s what I was thinking! Because Netflix already has shows that use the weekly model and not just with batches. So why not use it for JoJo?
I was lucky. I stopped following the part 6 adaptation after the first batch and forgot about it for a long time, and I didn't even hear about the second batch's release. But when I finally got around to rediscovering and watching it, the third batch dropped right about when I was finishing up the second batch. I feel blessed to have rediscovered it with such good timing.
I had the same luck. I watched the first batch and, at a friend's birthday party, his cousin told me the 3rd batch was right around the corner; like 2 weeks or so. I even felt ashamed for not knowing and that I had forgotten about Jolyne and Jotaro.
I wont lie, even if the schedule until batch 2 was hell, i think batch 2 itself bought my joy back, it really felt like i was watching jojo again with so many fights and weird moments (this is reasonable because some of the most important stuff from the manga happened in that batch so)
For me it was just such a long grueling wait and knowing that i had no idea when to expect the next batch from the absolute lack of communication i didn't even bother watching batch 2 after it came out thinking I'd just wait for batch 3 so i know i could at least watch it to completion then and.. unsurprisingly i had lost every ounce of interest by the time batch 3 released, and have yet to watch batch 2 and 3 to this day.
@@JustMehChannel same here. It didn't help that by the time batch 3 dropped so much great stuff was coming out I didn't even have time to binge it anyway. It seems netflix forgot that Jojo would be competing with other anime for people's limited time and chose to do this in the middle of one of the most stacked years for good new anime.
man, it feels disrespectful to me how people were okay with that, this kind of thinking that the mediocrity of netflix brings is okay, and it affecting jojo doesnt make you feel something tells me that ya´ll like getting crap we are gonna get CGI horses next part, i just hope japanese fans aren´t as comformists as everyone else
@@superwaffle9312 The CG wasn't that bad. Jumpin' Jack Flash was the worst of it and that was one episode of a minor villain. Quit crying, you wouldn't have shit to say if a RUclips essayist didn't feed you an opinion to regurgitate, "conformist." The bad parts of the Netflix adaptation were due to scheduling and communication issues. Also limiting your audience to those foolish enough to still own a Netflix acct is gonna tank the audience numbers anyways. Of course you'd have to think to arrive at that, so it's understandable that you missed it.
@@kdix231 the prison in the anime is just dull, but the intro actually tries and gives it colour while still being in the style that araki goes for in his artwork. I have no idea how you think a very boring and simple prison is cooler than that.
@@azahalbiora okay now that we've tossed the hyperboles aside, we can agree the prison looked too lackluster for a series as popular as jojos bizarre adventure
The fact my favourite part got fumbled so hard irks me, because it means it’ll NEVER get out of the stigma of “part 6” bad. It was NEVER BAD, and now it’s possibly even worse due to the skewed opinions of people having to wait for the batches to release
@@egbertmilton4003 Tell me one thing that was particularly bad about its writing that you couldn’t find in another part too. I feel like people always just focus on stone ocean when it comes to the bad writing of Araki, when examples of such can be found in many parts
@@Icetea-2000Part 6 wasn't really bad, but it had some of the lowest of the series. IMO the solitary confinement arc ties with the "stand of the week" of part 3 as the most boring arcs of the series. The DIO's sons weren't really that interesting either.
i completely forgot (or perhaps blocked out of memory) how bad the inherited soul event was. I stayed up late and ended up passing out before waking up right when they announced jolyne png after watching it through discord screenshare. the hype was insane but looking back it was ridiculous. never forget diablo, king of crimson.
The most infuriating part is that Netflix is still releasing weekly episodes of Vinland Saga and the show has a fair amount of hype around it. So they have *no excuse* for how they treated Part 6
Vinland went full mainstream thanks to the weekly release AND being on Netflix. The whole "I have no enemies" meme brought more hype as well. Stone Ocean could've been great
With the way that Stone Ocean was handled, if they ever get to animate Steal Ball, I pray that it doesn't receive the same treatment. I really did miss the weekly episode releases; that was something I looked forward to when I watched Golden Wind... and for Stone Ocean is basically be batch releases... it killed the hype quickly. I hope they get to bring that back whenever they announce for a SBR adaptation-
Netflix only bought the rights to stream it with translations they didn’t animate it. That was on David pro who did parts 4 onward. (They might have done 1-3 too, I can’t remember it just was such a jump in art-style I felt whiplash when I was first getting into Jojo.)
I said it before and ill say it again. Jolene cant catch a break in and out of universe. You had all the elements for a monster sucess; jojo is now a mainstream sensation the world over not just Japan, it took place in a western country so the dub is warranted again and a state with the right amount of bizarre for the series, streaming on the biggest streaming platform, jotaro cujoh is back, and our lead is a waifu. And this is what we get. Yare yare dawa indeed
Stone Ocean is actually my favourite part, from the anime alone. Every new stand and its ability showcase was handled so incredibly well. The battles were highly creative, the Pucci stand fights were all gold, the characters are funny, the story is a huge experience, but Netflix completely fumbled the bag with airing the episodes reasonably. They killed the hype for one of the most engaging final arcs in Jojo to me (I don't read the manga). Edit: Honestly, what made Part 6 my favorite in retrospect was Xforts' "Every Stand Explained" video, I loved the music and it enhanced the showcase of each new ability lolll
I hope the anime releases of Stone Ocean doesn’t affect people’s opinion of the part itself. I think the anime was still wonderful despite the release faults. Only thing I’m disappointed in is the lack of animation fixes in the Blu-ray version. Other than that I loved the Stone Ocean anime, and this is coming from someone who’s favorite part is part 6.
Idk but ive seen nothing but praise for the anime, before the anime it wad nothing but hate for Part 6. The Anime did great for making people change their mind abot Part 6
I’d rank it towards the bottom end tbh and I watched it all at once when it was finished airing. I liked joylene quite a bit but the side characters were the weakest link for me as well as majority of the villains
Yea its a shame, it just seems like the publishers didn't bother putting money towards it for some reason. Because when you look at parts of the anime individually, there is so much love and quality put in, but it's clear that the budget held everything back. For example, the anime has an AMAZING art style, probably my favourite of the whole jojo anime, but weird/rushed drawings makes some scenes and episodes look really bad and wonky. Also, Kamikaze Douga absolutely KILLED it with both openings they made, but they just clearly weren't commissioned to make one for the second batch, even though I'm sure they wanted to. And Yugo Kanno made an absolutely amazing soundtrack, with some of his best work ever in it, but lots of songs were just barely used in some episodes. But mainly its the timing. They just needed a lot more animators to make the anime have the quality of the 2nd two batches, without taking a year of waiting.
my take is that a majority of production went to the urusei yatsura remake when part 6 was coming out, and netflix practically forced an awful production schedule that resulted in the part being released in batches in comparison to weekly.
So sad. I watched Stone Ocean as soon as it dropped and I went looking for talk about it online and barely anyone was talking about it. All of the anime youtubers i follow who normally would have never even bothered to too.
@@emblemblade9245 no it was definitely netflix fault. the product wasnt even bad, netflix just didnt deliver it to the fans, you cant blame people for not being there with a 9 month delay between batches. im sure they still love jojo but theres a limit to patience.
Steel Ball Run is genuinely one of the best pieces of media I've ever seen. I really hope they don't completely kill it like how they did Part 6, especially since I really liked Stone Ocean already from reading the manga.
Meh, honestly not too worried, they still managed to tell the story decently well in part 6. With how part 7 is written I’d say it would be hard to mess it up, yeah they might budget cut a bit here and there because it’s Netflix but I don’t think they’ll slaughter it. I don’t think they would be able to.
@@noxartorias6553 but thats the point. Decently well doesn't do justice to how good Steel ball run is. And with the way its written, its harder to pull off actually because not only are there so many horses, but its also alot longer than other jojo parts and its easier to screw up a seinen which sbr is. And later on, p7 is one of the most hype jojo parts and it can easily butchered if treated like p6
I’m really glad that I got to be apart of Jojo Fridays when part 5 was releasing. Seeing everyone come together each week was really special. So seeing how much part 6 was fumbled hurts my soul in a way. I knew shit was bad when I couldn’t have weekly Guccicast
God, thinking about the Stone Ocean anime makes me sad. The manga isn't just my favorite Jojo part, it's one of my favorite stories, period. It helped me through my worst years, and gave me the strength to push through the parts of my life that sucked. To see the anime adaptation get fucked this hard is just so soul-crushing. I still love the anime, I think it was done pretty darn well, but I'll never forgive netflix for what they did.
@@J03_M4m4I got caught up in the worst time to start watching JoJo. Early 2020, after GW's release, and during the 2 year hiatus between GW and SO. Without mentioning the 9 months gap between the first two batches.
this corpos are just bad at their job... they could had capitalized on Jojo Fridays and made that a netflix big thing that everyone not subbed was missing out... but no.. they just let that passs
i missed the community blowing up after every episode with endless memes and deep discussions about the characters personality ;/ and the artists drawings... if it was a Ghiacco episode, everyone would be motivated to draw ghiaccio and post in the same day/week of the episode, so your timeline would be full of beautiful drawings; its very sad that stone ocean was treated like this since Part 5 was a insane experience.
Part 6 is my favourite part next to part 8 and I still haven't seen the anime because it killed my hype that much when I learned how long the 2nd batch would come
I still remember how I started to know, Jojo's, it was almost 6 years ago, a little bit after the end of Diamond is Unbreakable. It was a Playthrough with 2 French RUclipsrs I know on Pokemon Platinum (Pokemon Bloody Platimun Randomized to be exact). They were really funny and I was really facinated by the "ZAWARDO" moment they used in the video. I searched this in RUclips and found some extracts of the Stardust Crusaders fight with Dio. I wasn't into Anime at this point (and considering all the things I saw, I can't really say that I'm THE anime guy) but Jojo's really fascinated me. I started to look for places to watch the Anime and ultimately, I watched the 4th Parts on Crunchyroll. This was one of the best experiences in my life, I became a huge fan of the series. Fascinated by this, I also knew it was a manga adaptation but as I was (and still is) not really attracted to Mangas, so reading the manga was not something I intended to do. But as I was fascinated by the series, I did my best and made researches on the Wikis. It's not really a good way to do that but it still allowed me to learn something more about the series. Then, I learned that Jojo's Part 5 : Golden Wind will get an anime adaptation and what's more, that there will be an anime premiere in France. I was really hyped at this time. When we talked about that, we still talked about Jojo's and their memes. But one years after, without any new for Stone Ocean, my friends started to watch Jojo and as we were all together for our studies, we were watching all the series together and sharing our reactions. Obviously, some things weren't as hyped as if we discovered them but it was still some good moments. As I didn't want to spoil them, I tried not to show them touchy memes nor talk about important moments (GER for example). In the end of the year, before the holidays, as we finished Golden Wind, they wanted to read the manga and as I'm not of huge fan of it, it was a bit reticent to do that but I still tried. So we read Stone Ocean together. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed reading the manga and I thought that I could read more of them, but after trying other mangas, it was more like Jojo's was an exception as it was not really pleasant. However, I still continued Jojo's Manga with Steel Ball Run and Jojolion and I was up to date around chapter 95. Some of my friends couldn't continue reading Jojo's but they watched the Anime of Stone Ocean. It's a little bit long but it's really important to me that Jojo takes an important place for me and my friends, it's almost the thing that is linking us all around the world. Within the years before the Stone Ocean Anime Announcement, I continued to watch for stuff around Jojo : I discovered the Light Novels and other stories in the Jojo universe, the Jojo Games and especially Eyes of Heaven. In the end, I wanted to knew more about this universe. And then, I saw the announcement, after the event and I was really hyped for the next part. When I saw that Netflix was behind that, I was really happy as David Production will have ressources to produce the Anime in good conditions. But then, I learned about it, when Netflix backsatbbed me, the Batch Releases. There, I was doomed, I knew it was a terrible idea. I knew it would kill the hype. And I knew that some of my friends will bingewatch all of Stone Ocean. It was really frustrating. But, I still fought, I watched Jojo as it should have been released : in weekly Jojo Fridays. I even waited a whole month to be at the same time that the Japanese TV release. I cut myself from Reddit, as I kne there would be memes spoiling me the anime. In the end, the first batch was released and, naive as I was, I though that the the 2nd batch would be released at the end of the Japanese TV release of batch 1. I still enjoyed the episodes, it was early stone ocean so it is not the best arc of the Anime but it was still good and as I read the manga, I knew theat there will be really good moments, especially in the last part with Dio's sons. In the end, I was only disappointed by the absence of Batch 2. I also didn't like the use of CGI, as I think the technology isn't totally ready to be used but I will discuss it later. And it was the 2nd backstabb from Netflix, waiting 5 whole months for the next batch. It was really painful as the hype was already hurt, it was something like a murder for me. In the end, the anime was released and Netflix backstabbed me for the 3rd time : no new opening for the second batch. Even worse, they changed only one scene in the end of the opening. At this moment, I was terrified, I couldn't bear what they have done to this series that changed who I am and has so much importance for me. Despite the batch release, I still watched the anime weekly and repeated the same things I did for the 1st batch except that I didn't waited to be at the same time as the Japanese TV release as it was likely that there would be 4 months to wait for the last batch. Even my friends, huge fans of Jojo's almost missed the release and some even didn't watched it until the last batch was released. Hopefully, the last batch was released only 2 weeks after I finished the 2nd batch weekly. This was a much more better batch than the two others, the arc is by far the better of Stone Ocean, there is a new opening with a variation. I was so disappointed that I genuinely thought that there would not be any variation for the opening, and the fact that only the last episode has the variation terrified me. I still think that as we have two transitions : Whitesnake -> C-Moon and C-Moon -> Made in Heaven, 2 variations would be perfect. In the end, this batch was really good. After all of this, what is it now ? For me Stone Ocean was a disaster. Watching the Anime was really painful, not beceause it's bad but because it hurted me, it hurted the fan of Jojo inside me. Seeing this beautiful creation tortured by Netflix is really a shame. And what's worse, I could'nt do anything. Even the community couldn't fight this. Some people like me tried to watch the anime weekly but how many people, 1000, 10 000 ? Over the millions of Jojo fans, it's nothing. I do not blame them for that, they do what they want. In the end, I can see some sort of loop. As Pokemon made me discover Jojo, Pokemon made me realize that Stone Ocean was poorly design. Pokemon is a really easy game, with tons of tools to stomp over the game, but some players use resctrictions (Nuzlocke, Soul-Link, ... ) to make the game more complex, and even with that, Some people will thay "Netflix isn't responsible for Stone Ocean being bad, it's only David Production that made the anime". In the end, yes, David Production used CGI and needed more time to finish the Stone Ocean Anime. But I will ask you some questions : Who didn't gave enough ressources to David Productions ? Who decided a Batch release ? Who cutted the budget ? The answer is the same : Netflix. David Production knows how Jojo's works, they know how the things should be done. I take responsible Netflix for almost killing Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and all the hype around. I made them responsible for hurting a series that means so much for me. I will still wait for the Steel Ball Run Anime Adaptation, even if it tooks 3, 5, 10 years. I will wait, but I want something of high quality. I want this adaptation to revive the hype for Jojo. I want this Anime to correct the mistakes of Stone Ocean. As Steel Ball Run is a new beginning for Jojo, the Adaptation must be a revival of the series.
I keep forgetting part 6 ended because of these downfalls. It’s such a shame, because SO is stuck between a lot of people’s favorite parts. I was looking forward to the adaptation to save it from that, yet it was handled so poorly. I just hope they learned from this. If they do adapt SBR, then I hope to god they don’t do the same mistakes. Hell, it’s okay if they take 10 years to hone the quality of it.
I watched the first batch right before I cancelled my subscription and didn't even realize it finished until now idk what to even do about it, I can't believe Netflix fucked it up this bad.
Man, part 6 just cant catch a break. I was REALLY hoping it would get the love it deserves with the anime only audiences finally being able to see it/manga fans being able to maybe change their minds seeing it animated. But alas, Netflix had to do Netflix things and screw it over. Its my secod favorite part of jojo yet even I havent even bothered watching the 3rd batch yet because the hype just isnt really there. Its kinda a shame really. Heres to hoping Steel Ball Run will get the adaptation it deserves and doent get screwed over🥂
I don't know if any of you guys remember the rap song we were supposed to get from Karen Aoki and Daisuke Hasegawa (Great Days singers). This was 100% legit since Karen tweeted it herself in Jan 2022. I suspect that this was supposed to be the opening for batch 2 of Stone Ocean. The Ichigo opening was very clearly meant for batch 1, since scenes only ranged from Jolyne in the prison van to the frog rain. It seems very unlikely that the rap was something they'd just dump in the full soundtrack release without it ever being heard in the anime. I think that something went wrong during the production of the rap song/animation for it and this might've caused the super long delay between batch 1 and 2. Because we only waited 3 months between batches 2 and 3 and even Fairouz Ai herself said "yeah we know this is quick but batch 3 is coming in December." I'm surprised not too may people talked about this at all but it seems odd to have a whole song that sounds like an opening announced, only for us to never hear it in the entire anime.
This is kinda too depressing to watch. I’m still always going to be pissed at all the reactors that never bothered to finish part 6. They know who they are….
I didn't feel the lack of hype as much as long-time fans, because I only watched Parts 1-5 and Batch 1 of Part 6 in Summer of 2022, without knowing that Batch 2 would come so soon after I finished the first one. So that was a very cool feeling for me, because hey, more JoJo is always welcome. Then I decided to read the manga from where Batch 2 left off and did enjoy it, although I was confused for parts of it (not because of the sudden switch from anime to manga, but because of some of the arcs themselves, like Heavy Weather for example), but that confusion went away when Batch 3 came out because I actually knew what was going on and what to expect, and I was really excited to see what I read previously get animated with top-tier voice acting and music. Not to mention I also finished JoJolion before Batch 3 came out, so I was fully caught up and ready for the original universe to be closed off in anime form as well. I love the anime for Stone Ocean no matter how stupid its release schedule was, mainly because I wasn't there for JoJo Fridays when earlier Parts were airing and so it didn't affect me that much. But now that I'm all caught up, including reading The JOJOLands every month, I might feel differently about Parts 7, 8 and 9 whenever they might get animated, if they keep the Batch release schedule. Also, this won't really matter for future viewers because they'll have all the episodes ready to go right away, so really it was only a problem for real-time viewers.
Yeah, first-day hype is one thing, but it’s not the legacy of a series. I want to see people talk about Stone Ocean long after it’s released……though the part itself, not the release schedule lol
I understand how people say that Stone ocean is underreated because they probably started watching JoJo’s when everything came out already so they watched the entirety of Stone ocean without breaks. Stone ocean without pauses is a MASTERPIECE
This matches my memories and overall opinion of this whole thing. As soon as I heard netflix was involved I knew this was coming. For batch 1 there was still so much hype even with the fanbase being divided on the release format, and when batch 2 was announced for september, it was like the kiss of death. I feel like thats the exact moment when even the most optimistic fans realized this was pure bs. Which is a shame because batch 2 looked significantly better and batch 3 was amazing overall. I hope netflix/WB bring back the weekly schedule. They have the perfect marketing in the form of jojo fridays. Jojo fans can create hype like no other fanbase, but we cant do the job for netflix.
The schedule killed it if it wasn't for that then the hype from part 5 would've continued into part 6 and the popularity would've skyrocketed even further
Jerk, part 5 was also popular as a manga, so the hype in the adaptation was expected, and part 6, both as a manga and as an anime, was met without warmth
@@diego_tapok7832 huh? that's literally irrelevant since every part of the anime was continously increasing the popularity of the series but it only happend to decrease when they changed the schedule for how the anime releases.
@@pieck5460 Nothing like that, Phantom Blood was forgotten in the manga format, they forget it even as an anime, the same with all parts, their popularity will grow as they are initially recognized, even if you invest a million in the Stone Ocean, it still will not surpass the popularity of Stardust and Golden Wind, this applies to ALL parts. Genius, does Attack on Titan bother you? Why, with its release, the series keeps the bar of popularity, although the format is more difficult than that of the Stone Ocean (once a year for adaptation, based on 1-2 chapters of the manga☠), and the quality is poor
The way that Stone Ocean constantly gets shafted is fucking heart breaking First it's being mischaracterised as the worst part, it already had difficulty with publishing bc Japanese shounen fans didn't like the main protagonist being a woman. Then you have 'fans' who tell new comers to skip or skim the manga instead of actually reading it. People that claim it has the worst fights only bc of the fortune telling dragon fight, and now the long awaited anime gets absolutely obliterated in marketing bc of Netflix. I've been upset about this from the very start and I'm heart broken to see the problem stayed until the very finale. Stone Ocean is one of my favourite parts, I hate how all of this turned out
Imagine what it must feel like to actually like 1 of the most hated fights in all of Jojo. Dragon's Dream was such a creative stand & Jojo is supposed to have bizarre powers that can make for crazy fights. I believe Stone Ocean's 1st Batch came out much too soon & that if it released in 2022 it would have been better received.
Im glad you talked about SO anime not looking as good, being a huge SO fan I was quite disappointed when I saw the art style that they were going for for the first time and I felt I was the only one who had that take since no one talked about it at the time. If you look at previous parts of the anime you would notice that they all have different and unique art styles compared to each other. 1 and 2 to 3 is very different, then part 4 comes along with a completely different take but still being super unique and doing cool stuff with their color scheme, and then part 5 switches things up again and it looks really good. But part 6 tho? It doesn't look bad at all and has some very well animated moments but the art style, that it what botters me. It is the first time a new JoJo part looks fairly familiar to the previous part, it being part 5, and it doesn't look as good because they played it really safe with the color usage, resulting in a very dull looking prison and mostly dull looking environments overall. I know its a prison and prisons look dull but we're talking about JoJo with all it's wackiness, there is no way in hell you do environments as uninterestig as they did. I was really hyped to see what SO anime would look like back in the day and they played it safe, they have us what we expected, and JoJo is not supposed to so that.
When we first learned that Stone Ocean would finally be animated, I genuinely thought that this would be the single biggest anime drop in history. I fully expected the hype to keep building as it releases then the entire anime community melting down once we reach the climax with MiH and the wonderful world. Instead, many people either dropped it, or just watched it on their own time, diluting all potential hype and reactions. Instead of a massive crescendo, Stone Ocean just kinda faded to the background.
If it didn’t even garner that reaction from manga readers, it was never gonna get it from anime. Stone Ocean was just too atypical from what a lot of fair weather fans expect to see
This is why I prefer the manga than the anime, sure I love the voice acting, they did an amazing job, animation can be little off at times but I still would consider this my favorite part out of all the parts.
My issue with the anime was that the action is always interrupted with characters explaining things. This is will be a big problem when part 7 comes out, especially towards the end
i remember when the 3rd batch came out i took the day off of work for each batch and i was the most excited for it, part 6 is up there with 4 and 2 as my all time favorite parts from the anime
I was slow in watching Jojo so didnt reach Stone Ocean until it was all released. And I hadnt read the manga either. Stone Ocean is actually my favourite part. The maximum security part felt realy omnious. Never thought a horde of plankton fighting for its life would be so impactful. I iust think they somehow slowly but surley built danger/opression all the way till the end. So the ending felt deserved. The heroes all but one getting killed felt built towards. Also the main characters aesthetics were realy good. The jojo poses were there. Then colour were well chosen. And finaly. The amount of gimmicky / humourus Stands were quite low. Those almost always felt like fillers to me
You know, even despite everything, part 6 may still be my favorite. It's a really great story, incredibly cathartic after everything leading up to it, and has for sure some of my favorite episodes in the series. "There's Six of Us?" actually had me popping off on first viewing
I remember being the last one standing in my Jojo friend group because of this anime. The friend who got me into it stopped caring after the first batch release and the anime-only friend couldn’t get past the first episode bc he thought Jolyne was distasteful. I had not heard much about Stone Ocean, but I knew that Pucci was one of the greatest villains in all of manga. I stuck around as much as I could, only to check and see no new episodes until I forget for and realize they released the second and third batches under my radar. Honestly it’s so heartbreaking seeing how what is now one of my favorite parts (debatably my favorite) be done so dirty.
@@shrektheogre2853 This was legit the reason why Araki even made Stone Ocean, and why it didn't sell as well in Japan. Japan is a country still rooted in a lot of misogyny, and Araki intentionally wanted to go against that.
I think it's easier to understand the quality given that budget isn't what drives the adaptation. Because of the pandemic less time was available for the animators and staff, and Netflix batches meant 12 episodes had to be done by a certain date. Not to mention most in-house man power was being directed to Urusei Yatsura leaving fewer talented staff for JoJo. Stone Ocean with a better schedule would've made it a lot more visually pleasing, in an ideal world we could've gotten stuff like Ep 15 a lot more often. That episode had some of the best correction work in the entire series so far and was incredibly consistent visually. Just remember people, lots of time and good staff are what provide good looking anime. Not money.
Exactly. When Xforts started to talk about budget I got genuinely irritated, I can't believe some people still think that money is what defines an anime's quality
They did my favourite part so dirty It also doesn’t help that Stone ocean is so disliked throughout the community and that it’s the part before steel ball run. They HAD TO give justice to part 6, but they fumbled so hard it’s crazy.
I'm not even gonna lie. I'm not a big fan of Stone Ocean, but even I feel bad for Stone Ocean fans. This was such a slap in the face of fanbase that was already pretty royally screwed over by bad translations, and now their anime part got just as bad of a treatment. Netflix should be ashamed of themselves
@@Nerevarine420 problem with stone ocean manga wasn't Bad translation It was ppl speed reading it to get to SBR And they just didn't understand shit and just called stone ocean a bad part
@@self-proclaimedanimator Exactly. Another thing I never understood is the group of people who shit on the entire part because they didn’t like Dragons Dream and Yo-Yo-Ma. Personally, I didn’t mind both as seeing F.F. in action is always cool to see. The Annasui and Jolyne relationship moments were funny as hell too. My point is, I don’t understand why people hate THE ENTIRE PART because of these 2 back to back fights. Stone ocean has 158 chapters, while these 2 arcs in total only make up for 13 chapters. So, all 158 chapters are ass from their point of view because they didn’t like 13 of them? That never made sense to me.
Netflix has truly ruined this masterpiece of the part, I don't know why they somewhat try to give thus part an unusual pace on not having it weekly, I do not blame the animators over it, this was all Netflix's fault on how the marketing went for this, they may have good anime originals but for JoJo, instead they just killed the hype as if it didn't deserve it.

For me, the silver lining was in the English dub as two talented people delivered. The first was Kira Buckland, a talented voice actress got to play as Jolyne. What makes it even better was that she actually cosplays as Jolyne and seeing her be able to fulfill her dream is just fantastic. The second is Yongyea. I'm serious. He nailed it as Pucci. Seriously. That's all I will say. Not to mention I wish it could have been better but Netflix has a habit of releasing stuff in batches. They need to fix that crap immediately.
Those 2 were fine (I think Emporio sounded better than Pucci, but I agree that Pucci got better over time), but as a whole the dub made it kinda unbearable to watch a lot of the time. Jojo is known for its over-the-top reactions, but it tends to keep them varied and expressive. But the dub just had everyone lamely swear "fuck" at everything. There was so much cursing that it took me out of the show. I thought I just didn't like it because Jojo (before Netflix) had more variety in its swears and were less frequent, so it was less annoying. But then I ended up seeing scenes from previous seasons, I forgot how fun the dialogue used to be and now its just replaced with generic crass screaming, and its really repetitive at it. So it overall became annoying very quickly. I also felt like the acting was missing something that the original Japanese dub always has, I don't how to explain it properly other than the English dub phoning it in. But the Japanese voice actors always manage to keep each character unique and entertaining in their own way, with very expressive vocal mannerisms.
@@MegamanNG yeah she was definitely a good pick, felt just like how you imagine Jolyne to sound like! I should say that I watch a lot of things with swearing, so it's not like I'm not used to it (well except in the context of jojo I suppose). Its just that it felt like its was too try hard and edgy.
The wait between batches was annoying, but it's not a problem anymore now that the episodes are all out. The worst thing about the batch release is how people just consumed the whole batch at once, then moved on. With a weekly schedule, fans have time to discuss each new episode and generate memes about its events. Every other season of JoJo has generated several extremely popular memes that further attract the attention of people and get them interested in this anime, but I can't think of a single meme from the Stone Ocean anime. That's what sucks the most about the batch release, it means that Stone Ocean won't leave a lasting impact on internet culture like KONO DIO DA, the Pillar Men awakening, or Giorno's theme.
It's wild that they choose batch release over weekly. Netflix would profit more from selling more membership over the course of the year instead of people just buying 1 month just to watch the season.
I finally finished watching the anime with the boys just last week. I thought the final batch was phenomenal, and in total the adaptation itself was great after they sorted out some of the problems from the first batch. It really is sad how much Netflix screwed up, we still don’t even have special edition VIZ releases announced for the blu rays yet. Hopefully, if SBR gets adapted soon they fix the terrible release schedule, (or lose the license, because I personally really dislike Netflix.)
@@emperornefarious5273 That is certainly possible, but as far as I know, the batch release plan was enacted by Netflix. I don’t know any other company or platform that releases anime in that way.
Part 6 already has a reputation of being “bad” (mostly because people don’t actually read it), so it really needed the anime to help “fix” it. But the loop of Netflix batches to prioritize binge watching really didn’t help. What a bummer
That's why I don't want part 7 to be released because Netflix might just hide the fact that it's released and will do the same thing they did to stone ocean
Stone Ocean anime getting the same treatment it had (although slightly better) when the Stone Ocean manga was released It rly doesn't deserve the hate it got and still keeps getting
The thing that concerns me about this is that I feel like it could be a death knell for any hope of future anime adaptations of JoJo. Obviously the main one on people's lips is SBR, but other stuff - like the Thus Spoke OVAs or even Purple Haze Feedback - are arguably less likely than they've ever been. After all, statistics are key in the media industry - so seeing such a large "dropoff" in viewership probably signals that the series is going to be getting a lot less money moving forward. Also, like... damn. I was really hoping people would finally start to like Stone Ocean but I guess it's not meant to be, huh
I actually think the biggest reason why Stone Ocean lost hype was due to the exclusivity. But at the end of the day I don’t care since Steel Ball Run is next baby! Just let several platforms have the anime and be weekly. I have faith in David Productions.
I literally just finished part 6 about a week and a half ago because up until then I had completely forgotten batches two and three had existed and that I never finished the part. And I would consider myself to be a pretty strong JoJo fan. The release schedule really did kill interest, or at the very least led to people forgetting part 6 even existed, and I hope that it doesn't impact the chance of a SBR anime in the near future
I'm a Doctor Who fan, I'm used to having to wait way too long for new content, but MY GOD was the wait for batch 2 agonising. Somehow it was worse than the current wait for the next three DW specials set to release 1 YEAR after the last episode
Genuinely loved part 6's manga and the pacing due to batch releases really killed momentum for the story, especially break 1 to 2. That said, I still loved this adaptation. Was it part 5 quality? no. But it was still a great journey to watch and that final OP change was so reverent to the history of the series
So, we've seen Netflix release other anime weekly. Which tells me, that still blaming Netflix when there's been no evidence that this was a decision made by them is still so off and makes 0 sense. If we look at actual evidence the Stone Ocean production was handled during Covid, ontop of the big Warner Brothers merger that caused a lot of internal conflict at the company. Ontop of that DP took the Jojo team and had them work on Urasei Yatsura and gave the B team Stone Ocean. So it leads me to believe, and no one brings this up, that Stone Ocean's batch release was due to it not being finished at all. You can even tell that the quality of the episodes animation wise kept decreasing.
12:46 the actual disresoect the maximum security ward was my favorite arc i loved her fight against the dude that can pull litteral meteors and the guy that can generate water also the green guy being evil came to me as a suprise
Idk if anyone point this out but they also forgot to release the soundtrack for stone ocean I love the music the only music that is related to stone ocean are made by fans and I’m hoping that it will release some day I just want to point that out
@@truthcrusader360 I mean if it wants to be localized legally in the western world otherwise folks would have to do what they usually do and find fan subs. There is more involved when it comes anime releases.
It is absolutely wild that I didn’t know any of this. For context, I’m a new fan, I got into Jojo at the end of last year. I binged the anime straight from Phantom Blood on near Christmas, just a few weeks after the final release. I had no idea how close I came to having to wait for the conclusion. I can confirm, as someone who didn’t really know anything about the community or expectations at the time, I loved Stone Ocean. I enjoyed it from the beginning, in part because it immediately went counter to my biggest gripe with Golden Wind, that being that it felt almost entirely disconnected from everything before it, and, as mentioned, the quality of the production just improved as it went on. End result? Stone Ocean is probably the only rival to Diamond is Unbreakable for my favorite part.
Stone ocean has my favourite ending and i only just got around to watching the last batch, to me it fulfilled my expectations but the fact i watched it nearly 6 months after it released says something
16:30 This is a bit biased because the first op was on RUclips before the 1st batch release, it was the only way to watch it back then. The second op only dropped a month after the 3rd batch release so everyone already watched it from the anime
i totally forgot stone ocean existed, i watched the first batch then didn't got informed when new batches released so i just stopped caring, i did enjoy it but yeah the bingewatch model and the absence of a reunion to watch jojo with my friends have really not been kind. Thank fully a few weeks ago i rewatched golden wind, love it as much as the first time, and gave another chance to stone ocean, AND I'M FURIOUS NETFLIX MADE ME LOOSE INTEREST IN THIS, like seriously the stand fights are more creative than ever, the vilain is awesome, jolyne, weather report and anasui are also awesome and the ending is a masterpiece!!! really i'm mad i could loose interest in one of my favorite parts now thanks to a shitty schedule, i would have loved for the part to release 1 whole year later, but weekly and with better quality for the first third.
Honestly I just blame Netflix they take a good anime and they just screw it up somehow. 😮💨 And if anyone wants reasons why I think they screwed up is because they release every episode in just one day people don't like to binge watch or don't have time to binge-watch animein in one day they preferred the hype of a new episode being released next week when they release it all at once it just takes the wind out of the sail and it just ruins it.
I really didn't mind the batch releases tbh. I started watching JoJo just after Part 5's dub released, and had caught up just before Stone Ocean's first trailer came out. So I never really got to experience weekly releases for JoJo. I think it also helped that I continued with the manga after the first batch, so I knew what was coming in Batch 2 and 3. I also vastly preferred the anime over the manga, so that definitely helped.
Stone ocean is such a good part for sure and I think the ending is perfect I definitely wish it had more attention like part 4 had when it was releasing that was such a good time
Am I the only one that wasn’t bothered by the release schedule at all? SBR was shifted from a weekly shonen to a monthly release but it’s glazed like crazy compared to Part 6.
I'm new to JoJo and i binged everything last year and i didn't know that i missed so much from last 6. As a new fan i missed all this disappointment and i actually liked this anime especially with a female lead and side characters which made me happy. Thanks for explaining this. ❤
Man, I'm so glad I waited until it was all out before I started watching. Minus some of the animation hiccups in the first "part" I enjoyed it the whole way through (really wasn't a fan of the first 12 episodes overall). I REALLY hope Netflix doesn't do part 7, even if it takes a few years for someone else to pick it up, they really sucked all the hype and excitement out of Jojo's of all things (and at it's peak no less), it's almost impressive.
i just watched through pt 6 a couple months ago when i remembered that everything had released: i didnt bother to watch as it came out because i KNEW that it was gonna lose hype SO quickly. Lemmie tell you: watching it the way i did was sooooooo nice, and having never read the pt 6 manga, i was able to enjoy the story all the way through, and pt 6 became arguably my favorite part. Netflix really tried to ruin it for me and i fought back >:>
xForts couldn't be spitting more facts than in this video... I was so hyped for the release of Stone Ocean back in 2021, but the batch release really hurt the anime deeply... I didn't even watch batches 2 and 3 of the anime until 2 months ago (March 2023), even though I watched batch 1 as soon as it came out (December 2021) Since the reveal of the anime's artstyle in the 2021 JoJo event, to the complete Part 6 group poster release a couple months later, to Jolyne's theme and Samuel Kim's adaptation of it going wild and making JoJo fans crazy in both Twitter and RUclips ('cause it was the only source of her theme we had at the time), I was really hopeful and waiting for the release of Part 6... Just for it to come out in batches... Without any information of when the next one was even coming out... I really hoped they would have had the first batch release as the only batch due to a highly competitive Winter 2021-Spring 2022 anime season, with hardhitters such as Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 and Demon Slayer Season 2, but it was just such a large ocean of emptiness between batches... Even with everyone complaining about it, they didn't even care... They kept on with the idiotic idea of releasing it in batches up to 9 months appart (and with little hype for) from each other, even while they (Netflix) currently had other anime series released weekly... Like xForts said, they buried Stone Ocean... And JoJo's is still my favorite anime series And I did enjoy Stone Ocean quite a lot, as it's the ending to our original JoJo saga (I was confused at first by the ending, ngl) But losing JoJo Fridays and having batches so far appart from each other... With so little hype and advertising from Netflix... It dampened the Stone Ocean potential experience by a whole lot
I was really sad to see Stone Ocean done this way, but it kinda ended up serving as a warning to other anime fandoms to start making as much noise as possible if there's ANY indication their series won't be simulcast. Bleach TYBW is a great example, where Viz Media sold their western streaming rights to Disney+ and Hulu and initially they didn't even bother to arrange simulcasting for it. Then a few months prior to the anime's release, leaks came out about Disney+ having Bleach TYBW and Viz was still not providing any answers, so fans pretty much harrassed Viz non-stop for weeks and months on social media and, ONLY THEN, did Viz actually scramble to have simulcasting arranged for the anime. And even after all this, it was a bit too late, 'cause quite a few countries still didn't get simulcasting through D+ anyway and to this day the anime isn't even available in some of them, like mine. 😮💨 Hopefully in its cour 2 things go more smoothly, but all this to say, the TYBW anime release, after 10 years of waiting, could have been an absolute disaster in the west, had fans not been warned ahead of time that something fishy was going on. So yeah, I'm really hoping Jojo fans make noise too if there's a hint of SBR being done dirty like Stone Ocean, and I'll be there making noise too. On a side note: Stone Ocean's animation quality dip might have been affected by the release schedule as well, not sure, but these days the anime industry is in a MUCH WORSE state than it used to be f.e. when Part 5 was released - there's a serious lack of animators in the industry and WAY TOO MANY shows being produced per season (and it's not getting any better). Adding insult to injury, in 2022 there were some crazy productions like CSM's and even Mob's, which kinda hoarded A LOT of the industry's talent for themselves, leaving many studios being forced to make due with whoever was available... I'd say even Bleach TYBW and MHA were affected by this to some degree tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if the same applied to Stone Ocean. And ofc, Stone Ocean staff did complain the complex character designs made the production even more nightmarish.
Yeah, kind of shocking that Jojo fans just sat and let it happen. I thought they were more determined than that. It’s a very good point as well that SO’s animators were probably cannibalized on other shows. What a state. Truly, I’m glad SO happened at all, and I really enjoyed it!
When I was a little girl simulcasts were unheard of as Western Fans we were expected to wait years for new seasons to arrive after they aired in Japan. Do you even realize how spoiled you are? I'm waiting patiently for Sailor Moon Cosmos to drop because I know patience is a virtue when it comes to getting anime. If anything the problem was Netflix releasing Stone Ocean Batch 1 Way Too Soon! I know the anime industry is really suffering right now from overwork & not nearly enough animators.

I'm hoping it doesn't get spun like that, because from what I can tell the other seasons of Jojo's get consistent viewership as well as getting new viewers at a steady pace when new people discover the series and watch from the start, so with that in mind Stone Ocean is the outlier, and there's only 3 explanations they can fall back on: 1) the release schedule was fucked (the correct answer) 2) people don't want to watch a predominantly female Jojo part (super incorrect, but I can see someone using that as a scapegoat in a meeting) 3) stone ocean as a whole is weaker than the other parts (debatable, I personally like it, but I know a lot of fans rate it near the bottom of ranking lists even before the anime started)

Considering what Stone Ocean represents, it was heartbreaking to not see the internet freak out about it like in the past.

I'm curious if part 7 will gain the same fame as part 5 when it got its adaption. I really hope it does though
@@magnetotar part 7 second best part
It ended??? 😂
Jojo’s fanbase is made of majority of fujos. Part 5 appeals to those the most that’s why it’s the most popular in Japan and America. Same with part 7
Truth to be told, Netflix kinda responsible for it. Weekly epsiodes make us concentrate on the current episode, instead of the whole season.
The batch release was absolutely my biggest complaint. I've never been a huge fan of it, but especially for anime/ tv shows that I really enjoy I much rather prefer a weekly release to give me something to look forward to each week.
Blame Netflix's lack of enthusiasm for anime
Same. Part 6 was so detailed and well-structured
Jailhouse lock was insane
@@Cerdmasterjgcc I’ve seen people shit on it just because it’s a filler stand right before the Cape Canaveral shit, but in my honest opinion I was kinda terrified reading that arc in the manga.

Same lol. I thought I was the only one
I wont lie, even if the schedule until batch 2 was hell, i think batch 2 itself bought my joy back, it really felt like i was watching jojo again with so many fights and weird moments (this is reasonable because some of the most important stuff from the manga happened in that batch so)

The most infuriating part is that Netflix is still releasing weekly episodes of Vinland Saga and the show has a fair amount of hype around it.
So they have *no excuse* for how they treated Part 6

@@jjdude00 This was not a money problem. This was a time and lack of a better pool of talent problem.

It’s such a damn shame what happened to Part 6’s anime, because to me it’s my favorite part.
It would take 6-10 years mainly because animating horses is living hell
Because we only waited 3 months between batches 2 and 3 and even Fairouz Ai herself said "yeah we know this is quick but batch 3 is coming in December."
I'm surprised not too may people talked about this at all but it seems odd to have a whole song that sounds like an opening announced, only for us to never hear it in the entire anime.
First time I’ve EVER heard about this! Now I’m interested. Is there more information out there?
First time I'm hearing this! Is there anything else on this?
I'm mind blown
If this is true this is rough :(
God damn it, I would have loved a cheesy nu-metal song as the second OP. Would have fit the setting perfectly, especially for the Limp Bizkit fight :(
This is kinda too depressing to watch. I’m still always going to be pissed at all the reactors that never bothered to finish part 6. They know who they are….

I’m glad there’s people that actually see how disappointing stone ocean was executed.
@@mrfact03s yes this is my stando powa
@@acookie1410 talking about the garbage release that ruined fucking everything, right?
I want to see people talk about Stone Ocean long after it’s released……though the part itself, not the release schedule lol
part 6 is litterally my favorite part.. its just so bad that netflix ruined it.
6:04 “Things were off to a rocky start”
More like things were off to Araki start 😎
The way that Stone Ocean constantly gets shafted is fucking heart breaking
First it's being mischaracterised as the worst part, it already had difficulty with publishing bc Japanese shounen fans didn't like the main protagonist being a woman.
That’s just Jojo in general. That’s been around since part 1

Well, at least it was on brand for Part 6. Thanks for the video.
"There's Six of Us?" actually had me popping off on first viewing
what makes this whole situation such a shame to me is because of just his downright beautiful stone oceans ending is, especially in the anime
So, your friend couldn't get over the fact that women enjoy sex?
Why'd he think she was distasteful? Because she masturbated?
I finished part 8 and 7 before the second batch of stone ocean released, so I just read that as well

Not money.
Yes, that’s a great point
Exactly. When Xforts started to talk about budget I got genuinely irritated, I can't believe some people still think that money is what defines an anime's quality
They did my favourite part so dirty
It also doesn’t help that Stone ocean is so disliked throughout the community and that it’s the part before steel ball run.
They HAD TO give justice to part 6, but they fumbled so hard it’s crazy.
In a meta way, it’s thematically fitting considering the tragedy of jolynes life and how she never caught a break
I'm not even gonna lie. I'm not a big fan of Stone Ocean, but even I feel bad for Stone Ocean fans.
Blame CrunchyRoll not Netflix, because if it weren’t for the things that CrunchyRoll did, Stone Ocean would probably be better

No disrespect on Yongyea but his Pucci was generic AF.
@@Skibbutz Well he started really iffy but really grew into the character near the end. Seriously, it is like a night and day difference.
@@GBDupree Everyone has their own opinion. Don't worry, i respect it. Besides, I can't deny that Kira did great as Jolyne. She even cosplays as her.
Netflix only obeyed, they only handled the distribution and dubbing. It's Warner Bros Japan who did this
@@emperornefarious5273 That is certainly possible, but as far as I know, the batch release plan was enacted by Netflix.
I recently watched it. In these years Im so glad Im late to the party.
Never pre order, never buy early.
Was it good or on par with previous parts?
Stone Ocean anime getting the same treatment it had (although slightly better) when the Stone Ocean manga was released
It rly doesn't deserve the hate it got and still keeps getting

This is one of the main reasons why i hope Netflix tanks before part 7 is confirmed for an anime, if it even gets one after what happened.
David Productions would need a new animation distributor if it returns to western mainstream audiences again.
@@BeyondDaX

Honestly I just blame Netflix they take a good anime and they just screw it up somehow. 😮💨
And if anyone wants reasons why I think they screwed up is because they release every episode in just one day people don't like to binge watch or don't have time to binge-watch animein in one day they preferred the hype of a new episode being released next week when they release it all at once it just takes the wind out of the sail and it just ruins it.

It’s sad that one of my favorite parts lost the hype, it didn’t deserve to be played like this…
i just watched through pt 6 a couple months ago when i remembered that everything had released: i didnt bother to watch as it came out because i KNEW that it was gonna lose hype SO quickly. Netflix really tried to ruin it for me and i fought back >:>
xForts couldn't be spitting more facts than in this video...
I was so hyped for the release of Stone Ocean back in 2021, but the batch release really hurt the anime deeply...
I didn't even watch batches 2 and 3 of the anime until 2 months ago (March 2023), even though I watched batch 1 as soon as it came out (December 2021)
Since the reveal of the anime's artstyle in the 2021 JoJo event, to the complete Part 6 group poster release a couple months later, to Jolyne's theme and Samuel Kim's adaptation of it going wild and making JoJo fans crazy in both Twitter and RUclips ('cause it was the only source of her theme we had at the time), I was really hopeful and waiting for the release of Part 6...
And JoJo's is still my favorite anime series
And I did enjoy Stone Ocean quite a lot, as it's the ending to our original JoJo saga (I was confused at first by the ending, ngl)
But losing JoJo Fridays and having batches so far appart from each other...
Hopefully in its cour 2 things go more smoothly, but all this to say, the TYBW anime release, after 10 years of waiting, could have been an absolute disaster in the west, had fans not been warned ahead of time that something fishy was going on.
So yeah, I'm really hoping Jojo fans make noise too if there's a hint of SBR being done dirty like Stone Ocean, and I'll be there making noise too.
On a side note:
Stone Ocean's animation quality dip might have been affected by the release schedule as well, not sure, but these days the anime industry is in a MUCH WORSE state than it used to be f.e. when Part 5 was released - there's a serious lack of animators in the industry and WAY TOO MANY shows being produced per season (and it's not getting any better).
I'm from France and the only way to watch Bleach new episode was illegal streaming or VPN, such a shame for such a big anime :(
When I was a little girl simulcasts were unheard of as Western Fans we were expected to wait years for new seasons to arrive after they aired in Japan.
