Very cool! ‘55 Buick Special 4 door was the first family car I remember as a child in late 50’s early 60’s. The big steering wheel and Buick logo and fake exhaust ports were awsum. Stood on the hump in the back seat and watched Dad drive the beast😊
This is the definition of down and dirty hot rodding. It's been said many times, and I'm saying it again: Best car content on RUclips! Love what you guys do! I also love reading through the comments and seeing how many people feel the same. F*#k yeah!
I start my Saturdays with breakfast and the latest ‘Stay Tuned’. Way to go paisano! I’m still blown away by the memory of LS 911 build and how Tony can figure out electrical/electronics as well as the mechanical. Fearlessness, bravo 👏🏻!
I graduated from high school when this old Buick was parked. There's nobody Else I'd want to see make this thing come to life than You and Barb. Awesome Video.
I had the exact same 55 4dr HT these guys have. Back in 03 to 07. There’s a 57 4dr post with the 3 piece rear window. Around the corner from my house. It’s a very pale pink and off white. Wide whites og caps. Bone stock. Unfortunately weird hoarders own it.
Rule of thumb on thread engagement is 1.5 times the bolt diameter. 1/2" bolt would have 3/4" of thread engagement, minimum. 5 threads is likely good on smaller bolts, but if you imagine 5 threads on a 1.5" bolt, for instance, you'll see that it's barely engaged. It's a pretty good rule. Loving the show!
However if you do the math, the first 3 threads carry the vast majority of the load. It's because there's less bolt stretch down the line. The reality is that 3 threads of those bolts would hold up the entire car.
If that rule of thumb were completely accurate, then lug nuts would be much longer than most are. If you are looking for a better safe than sorry approach, then sure, but there is a reason engineers don't specify couplers over nuts. The 3 full threads of engagement rule of thumb is mathematically better.... And cleaner.
Tony, I really enjoy following along with you and Barb doing projects. Your presentation skills and calm delivery keeps me focused on every step. Thanks, don't change a thing (for me anyway!).
@@StayTunedTAseconded. I love it how you're doing it now (and pretty much has always been your recipe). Eccentric car choices, down and dirty, authentic vids and builds
Cool car. I had a 55 special 2 door with the 264 nail head, an offt intake with 3 2 barrels. It has been lowered. It was a fun ride. Just hard to find parts for it back in the late 80s.
First time watching the show. Really enjoyed it. I love the realism of it. Not a million dollar facility. Not every high dollar tool from the sponsored tool truck. And love seeing y’all using a mig welder, not making unrealistic tig weld art the most DIY’s just can’t relate to.
Finally watching Saturday morning, but for the best reason. I was packing up my existing garage so it can be demo'd this week in preparation for construction of my dream garage.
Tony something I noticed during the final work on the rear the shocks are in upside-down, the shields for the exposed chrome rod is now a funnel and will collect dirt and water. The shocks will function but you should turn them the correct orientation. Great build
Great episode! Shows what was a long and laborious process in format that’s easy to follow/understand - and still be entertaining. Really showcases the skills of youse guys and the gritty realty which is missing from 99% of automotive programming out there. Deep appreciation for what you folks can do.
