- This week, a feller from Vice Grip Garage hopped on a plane to Philly and hit the Stay Tuned shop where he, Tony Angelo, and the ST crew revived a 1967 Ford Fairlane drag car that hasn't moved in 40+ years! 4 long days of speed parts, pizza, cheesesteaks and laughs bring this car one step closer to hitting the strip again!

This was a BLAST! Thanks to Tony and the ST team for being awesome!
Thanks to all of you, this is epic! Don't tell Derek!
Thank you SO much buddy, we had a total blast this week and can't wait to come to your place and do it again!
Licking a little bit of Bells Paulsey off of the floor again. HAHAHAHAHAHA. You, Tavarish and his guys are great and the old Farelane looks great Derek. Pretty Awesome
Great show guys thanks for teaming up 😊
U can tell Derek is use to being alone. He keeps looking up at the building it was the best video love u guys thank u for the fun
two of the best car people in the world!
You're awesome too!
Thanks buddy, really appreciate it! Let's GOOO!
Oh, don't you worry, brother- you're on my subscription as well! Nice to see you here!
😅😊❤
Amen 🙏🏼
I typically only comment in hopes of helping the algorithm to get your channels more views…but this video is “talking to me”. Can relate sooo much to the thrash…flywheel bolts too long and doing everything two (or three times) definitely more relateable than editing out all the “challenges” to sell the illusion that when you have been wrenching for so many years that everything goes together perfectly. I am loving this too much…Derekisms combined with Tonyisms is pure gold. A couple similar yet different approaches to thrashing…
the bell housing/clutch didn’t even make the “cardboard hitlist” these are the surprises that add hours to a project and take years off of one’s life but BUILD CHARACTER ✊
We appreciate it!
I wish we in Europe had the pride in our car history. Watch Vice grip, Polebar garage and tavarish with a lot of joy. Didn’t knew you guys but gonne watch your channel as well
It was great seeing Stay Tuned gang and Vicegrip Garage working together, it was also great seeing you guys at Maple Grove Raceway, 👍😎👍
Thanks for coming out!
Just want to mention whoever sett up the welder was spot on perfection. It's not that it's hard to do, just very few get it right for the camera. Thanks guys, awesome chapter.
Derek is a workshop beast! Welding with just a hat, squinting eyes and no gloves. My man. Do more stuff together, great team!
Not using protective equipment is not a good thing. Especially for the younger people watching this. Look after your body. Only get one.
I know, I have my own shop with 5 emploees and safety is paramount. But I recognize myself in derek and other oldtimers in the way that we give less and less of a fxx the more experienced we get lol@@djdaxster
Drek is a moron.
Derek is like having dad around LOL i swear everyone has a smile on there face !
Had a stupid stressful day working on someone else’s come-back job today. This episode is the best part of my Friday. Thank you.
Amazing, you found a 66' Fairlane that looks like a 1967, rare bird indeed.😮
Hahaha ok ok it’s a ‘67!
Love this episode. Derek hanging with you guys is awesome for sure. Congratulations on 250K! You guys earned it.
That Motor sounded like a MONSTAH ! Holy Crap Stains ! Magnificent sounding ! All Youse guys are amazing !
Thanks a ton!
In the early nineties I had a 1967 Ford Fairlane GTA with a built 428cj with domed pistons and high lift long duration solid lift cam. Back then it ran 10.38 sec@132 mph in 1/4 mile. Full sheet metal completely stock body and chassis.
250k subs… love watching this man.
Best Saturday afternoon TV!!
Hell yea, thanks for watching!
Granada spindles and disc brakes using the Granada outer tie rods are a near bolt in if you wish to budget style upgrade the front brakes. Also use a 1974 Pinto manual disc master cylinder also a bolt in manual brake upgrade. Works great. And you did forget the block plate .....
Killer video. I love the whole shop, the gantry crane, and the Chas Parker vise.
Awesome mashup of talent and personalities
We had a blast shooting this one together!
Been waiting for this one!
Let’s gooo!
It's obvious when you guys started feeling the booze. Good times. Love these days myself. Friends and cars.
In 1989, I had a 75' Nova Custom with a trunk mounted fuel tank 'temporarily'. It brought back memories.
LOVE THIS. Fairlane in the fast lane. LET'S GOOOOO
"Almost Ringling Brothers" Love it
Damn absolutely nuts you guys have gained almost 25k subs since this video came out! Keep crushing it fellas!
Thanks buddy, appreciate it! Keep crushing it yourself!
First priority is use the bubble lever into the angle finder and specification is 2 to 1 degree down sample line of motor and transmission line aligning at back while the front motor is up of the angle.
Can't wait to see the 302 rip er up🤟🏼 from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan 🏁🏁
I grew up with the weney family from S&W in spring city ,pa👍👍👍Scott and Gary and there dad's name was Walt...we was racing with them at Maple Grove Raceway back in the 60's...Walt built Shirley muldowneys first rail chassis
These guys are definitely some of the most dudes in the world.
This episode was awesome, thank you!
I love how the stay tuned crew never goes hungry, that food looks delish everytime!
I love when Derek picks something up like it’s not a big deal (like a 305ci 6cyl) and places it with precision (like on an engine stand). Kinda like he did with that transmission. Most guys (like me) would, at least, need to think about it first.
Cool concept, i could watch this weekly
I love these collabs. Good stuff fellas
Awesome video, two of the best, you guys rock!!!!
100% dream team, dereck and tony totally awesome
I like how Derek identified the engine ruse immediately LOL
Loved this. Tired or not, y'all killed it. Enjoy the pizza. :)
Awesome collaboration!! Congrats on 250k subs. I got you guys a pizza, enjoy the hell out of it, you deserve it!
New subscriber and love the content. Going to be binge watching past videos!
1:20:35 I love how the "this stinks like manure" gets handed to Derek and he agrees. The funny part is where Tony sniffs it 4 more times! What he looking for? Hints of corn or peanuts?
Congratulations on the Subs! Derek is the man.
This is how hot rodding used to be back in the day guys hanging out in the garage and building something to run
seeing derek cuss more is fun lol he keeps his channel pretty kid friendly (which i LOVE! get kids wrenching!)
him panicked over forgetting his multi tool is hilarious. once you carry one everyday you never go back lol
"Everything I try to drink has whiskey in it". Hard life for sure.
😂 Glad I could help guys
This needs to made into a John C Reilly/Wil Ferrel movie 😂👌🏼
Hell yea congrats on 250K!
Nice , but a Gt would have 390 4 speed , and GT badges. The GTA was the automatic version that also had associated badging . Fun stuff guys !
No wonder Derek often references hiw busy his life is - when he's not producing his own video's on his channel, he's appearing on other people's!😊
Letter it up and drive the wheels off of it. Now you can get a goose neck like Mr Mortske lol.
...that boy's done drum brakes before! No springs fired across the shop or anything!
great vid guys, luv the fairlane.
10:28 pm on the 9th here in AZ 😊 !
Who are worse Marines or mechanics, nothing is too gross! I love it!
Dude guy REALLLLY needs to put safety glasses on.
👌👌👌
1:00:54 Love the driveshaft conversation.
Sounds good yeah it's a FORD they sound da best!
When you busted that can and sprayed the camera it made me jerk back in my chair lol. Great episode fellers!!! I love the old school parts on that car. Not being negative at all but how cool would it be if yall were putting a FE back in it? I know they are big and heavy but they are torque monsters. Also tough as a boot. PS the shop history is awesome. Glad you shared it Sir!!
I think we have to get a 427 in there sometime! We didn’t have the info at the time
I have never been around a 427 but i have ridden in a 68 pickup that had a cammed up 428 Cobra Jet with C6 from a real Torino Talladega. I say go for it!!!
Did you and Derek ever realize during Sick Week last year you allowed him to put his rocker shaft in upside down on the Vanishing paint 360? All his oil holes were facing up on the passenger side..... better call him...
Man, sometimes its just awesome to wrench with a like minded bunch of dudes... ☺
Get me a pizza and a 12 pack and I'll get you back Cheers from Calgary. Liked and subbed.
I feel dirty. Every advert I've had today in this video has been for Dominos. Their stuff sucks :(
Awesome, awesome video though. Love it as Derek seems a little more relaxed than usual and the mutual respect was awesome
derek is AMAZING love that dood
some of the BEST / S-U-B-T-L-E / off the cuff humor content online ,,, PERIOD!
1:07:08 nothing better than a rattle can restoration!
Last time i heard Arugula was in My Blue Heaven
Wait... JEGS et al have STORES?? Always thought they were catalog/online only.. Time to locate one and go on a pilgrimage
I don't know if that was a true GT or not. My '66 CYCLONE didn't have chrome on the side, and it had bucket seats. I don't think the '66 Fairlanes had chrome either!
Never enough time to do it right the first time, but always enough time to do it over! Ask me how I know!!
This was awesome to watch. When are you going to start on the 55 Chevy?
Very soon!
Awesome!
You’re ready for NASCAR
That beer can has metric measurement on it, being from Canada kinda makes me wonder??
U guys are money-world need this authenticy-thanks for the distraction Tony and Derek. I hate Fords
Boys, That’s a 67!
Circa 1973 on that PBR can
I was yelling at the iPad when you assembled the transmission to the motor without the block plate. Chevy guys. Great episode otherwise
Just subscribed myself
subbed on this video
New Subscriber Awesome Channel.
Welcome aboard!
@@StayTunedTA thank you 👍
My first car was a 66 fairlane
You guys are both great. Loved watching this episode! Need to do more collaborations together for sure!
Shop history deserves a video by itself, that's awesome.
We love this place!
@@StayTunedTA very cool stuff! i worked in a (wood) mill shop in western mass. that was originally a plant that built and tested periscopes for subs. they built it on a big chunk of bedrock so the testing equipment had a stable foundation and the place had a tower that i guess was for test assembly. built during the cold war. please to a history episode on your place!
A Gantry is part of my Shop goal dreams.
Yep, would love to smell those wood beams too
Tony, you gave us a little clue about the building. Now you gotta let us know about the history! PA guy to PA guy.
Derrick pocketing the 1/2 inch wrench is hilarious, amazing episode thank you guys for the content
Hahaha thanks for watching!
Front pocket find.
Yeah! Classic Derek!
1/2 or 10mm haha
Absolutely feller @@NaruSanavai
Props to derek for taking time to help the channel and giving pointers and support to go for it.
You guys should be proud of this video. RUclips gold.
Thank you so much, we had a blast this week!
Yes! Vise Grip and Stay Tuned in one package!!!! Let's Fffffing go!
Let's GOOO!
I was going to give this a thumbs up but I can't mess with the 69 thumbs up number. lol thanks thumb's up
Derek is one of the kindest, most genuine, and odd people people I have seen on TV.
We need more people like Derek on TV and less of the cookie cutter, disingenuous people pleaser types.
hes really a fun and relatable guy
Congratulations on 250,000 fellas!
Thanks for the collaboration with VGG.
Excellent content!
Thanks for the support, we appreciate it!
That Fairlane is SO sweet. Can't wait for part 2. We need more Stay tuned/ Vice grip collaboration in our lives!
it sounds so good one day ill rumble down the street like that once day
such a cool survivor build!
As mentioned its a 1967 Fairlane 500 and not a GT. When I was 16 I purchased a 2 year old 1967 Fairlane 500 with the standard 390-4 barrel rated at 315 HP and 4 speed. In stock trim they were capable of a 14 second 1/4 mi at around 90+mph. I remember the fun changing the spark plugs near the shock towers. Mine was red on red with a bench seat. Mine was different from other 67's as it had the radio antenna in the passenger side rear quarter panel. Thanks for bringing back some old but not forgotten memories.
True Joe.
Wish I still had my '67 Fairlane GT-A.
😢😢😢
Do you have any pictures of your car you could post on here 🤔🧐✌️🫡🇺🇸🙏
Catapiler welds😮
@@BrianMagnafici-mw5xh
I have a picture of a '67 Fairlane GT that's the exact same color as mine was, but I don't know how to go about sharing it here.
🤔🤔🤔
Joe Taylor, I wonder why it had the antenna in a different spot 🤔 Unless it was an original radio-delete from Ford and the previous owner had one installed during his ownership. 🤷
Hilarious Derek is just drunk welding on that cranked cross member the first day 🍻🤣
Dude didn't even close his eyes on some of em. Savage
How cool is that for Derek. Went from a regular guy working on cars on his spare time while raising a family, to hanging out with guys like Tony. Love watching all you guys. Keep up the good work and great content! Semper Fi
VGG is one of the best car channels on all of youtube, great crossover!
Derek is the BEST, we had a killer week in the ST shop!
DERIK looks SO TIRED, But he is truly trying SO hard to keep going. Nothing but Respect to you DERIK and all of you! Thank you so much 💪💪
Derek was killer all week!
It amuses me all the ways people misspell DEREK 😂.
Well ya know Geoff, it is spelt both ways...@@JeffKopis
You really got to think about burnout on these content creators but Derek always seems a little hard to be in character the first time on screen with a different RUclipsr did you see the one where he worked on three-wheelers with Kevin JD
@@nicktriplett1976 I think, in this case, there were just a few more coldsnacks involved. Just a few.
Tony rules, Barb rules, and Zimmie Kid rules! So nice to meet all the boys. Y’all are too nice. Thanks again for everything yesterday. Beer and a Slice Time! Ready to Stay Tuned 🤘🤘🔥🔥
LET'S GOOOOO BUDDY! Thanks so much for coming yesterday man, really means a lot! Beer and a slice baby!
@@StayTunedTATony and the Boys at Maple Grove! I’ll be there every time. Again, super awesome to meet you in person. Can’t thank you enough. Got to feel like a VIP. 🤣🤣🍺🍕
I met Tony when he and Lucky were testing the “college kid s10” they built at irwindale speedway. Tony is EXACTLY like you see on camera. Totally just wanted to talk car guy stuff and tell me about the build because the episode hadn’t aired yet. Such an awesome guy. I’m totally jealous of you guys that got to go hang out with him at maple grove.
Derek definitely puts the FUN in FUNCTIONAL ALCOHOLIC!🎉🎉
Tony you're a freaking Rockstar brother you're going to have a million before you know it man... congrats
Trying our best over here, thanks for the support!
@@StayTunedTAYou do such outlandish builds I would have thought you had a million already. We have to get the word out!
"We need like, 2 inches"... "Story of my life"... Right there with ya brother, best quote ever!!
Hahahah!
🤣🤣🤣🔥🍺🍕
It was so cool to meet you. ( I was the dude in the wheelchair with my champagne and white 52 Buick Special parked next to the red minivan ) such a fun night. I got to meet a lot of awesome people.
Oh wow, maan. You own my dream car, ever since I saw one on Gran Turismo I have wanted one. You have a killer ride. 👍
Your Buick didn't come with a dent in the center of the dash, did it? My dad had a similar Buick. When I was 5(1957) and standing up in the back, someone pulled out in front of us and dad hit the brakes. The seat folded and I put 4 tooth marks in the dash along with a small dent. Never stood up in a car again while moving...
This is the best car guy collaboration I have ever seen. These two are gold together 👍🏼 Need more future projects like this one.
"Is this thing even on weld? My eyes hurt." 😂
Hahaha!
First ever welding job I ever had I burnt my eyes bad. Needless to say I won't make that mistake again 😂
