Rob, I know you are hype but you are cracked if you think Oblivion is more powerful then The one abow all, you can’t beat omnipotence
You cannot kill Oblivion. You cannot reduce the personification of "Nothing" to nothing. The best you can do is do _something_ and hope it is enough to stave him off for a while.
I love how sparsely he has been used in the history of Marvel, to the point where some question whether he is canon at all. Abraxas, Mistress Death, Knull, The One Below All - there are a lot of cosmic beings that seem to contest with several of his aspects. But none actively contradict him.
I hope Hickman keeps him as vague as he has been. It perfectly fits the being representing a concept that by definition is impossible to imagine.
Iceman kind of kicked his butt in his own realm once because of the power of Love. Seems pretty easy to defeat.
@@rustybrooks8916 I mean... Yeah. He introduced _something_ into Nothing, staving him off for a while. But that's like saying you defeated the ocean by diking off a section of the coast. Yeah, you accomplished your goals - but the ocean is virtually unaffected and will eventually reclaim that area.

I'm surprised they're having Oblivion act as an antagonist. In his original comic he established that he has no desire to influence existence because he doesn't have to. He can simply watch the show and wait. He was a sinister story teller.

I don't think Oblivion is acting antagonistic, but rather it's like an impending force finally arriving. Oblivion hasn't had it's arc yet, and now it's their time to shine. Eternity, Infinity, and Death, they were all basically just waiting for Oblivion to move. The Incursions, Beyonders, and the Ones Above and Below, all were just signs that Obviously Oblivion is near. Oblivion is at the high point, where everything is leading finally to it, and everything knows that Oblivion is the true end

My only wish for this comic "G.O.D.S" is to finally give Galactus the respect he or it deserves, after having been "killed" again and again and again even if for other universe besides the main 616 universe.
Yeah having Abraxas killing all Galactus’s from different parts of the Marvel Multiverse was Whack to me. I know Galactus comes back to life and Annihilates Abraxas, but Tyrant should be the one to Kill Galactus and then get Destroyed by The Eater Of Planets after coming back to Life.
Oblivion is SERIOUS business. Remember how overpowered Amatsu Mikaboshi a.k.a the Chaos King was? Yeah, that thing was just a tiny fraction of the power of Oblivion. They really need to explain Oblivion better though because it is obvious he is outside of every hierarchy and gods pantheon. I do believe he is stronger or at least equal to TOAA
I think originally he was like a sibling of infinity and eternity, and death was his daughter. But I don’t remember exactly.
They were all siblings all originally portrayed as equal.
At that time They were bellow the power of the Original Infinity Gauntlet and the living Tribunal in the cosmic hierarchy.
But more modern interpretations of Oblivion have him being beyond the multiverse or something like that.

Cassandra, prophet of doom. destined to see the end, but unable to to convince anyone. most have heard of her from greek mythology. she was there in Troy before it fell. kind of neat that Marvel is blending the premise of the character into the comics.

Im glad a writer is finally going to do something substantial with Oblivion, and for it to be Hickman of all people, I think the character is about to become a lot cooler, because honestly up until now he's basically been carried by hype.

The oblivion/quasar story was pretty good in the 90s.
Oblivion, much like most cosmic characters has been somewhat inconsistent in power. He's often portrayed as equal to his brother Eternity and sisters Death and Infinity. Who are bellow the power of the original Infinity Gauntlet and Living Tribunal
Yet other times his avatars are alone are equal or more powerful than Abstracts (Maelstrom with Quantum Bands and Anomaly powers)
And Amatsu-Mikaboshi The Chaos King.
Then again Eternity is far more inconsistent. One story hes a universal/multiversal ultimate being and yet he's historically and regularly used a cosmic punching bag for the latest threat to the universe! 🤦🏽♂️

I have always wondered what's the relationship between Oblivion and the lesser void gods, like Amatsu Mikaboshi, Void and Null.
Think of them all being the same being but not. All at the same time.
Amatsu is an avatar / puppet of Oblivion, as seen in Chaos War. About Knull and the Void im not sure, but its probably the same
Null is still out there I think as nulls body was just an avatar. Null absorbed the void. The Null was thrown into the sun. Which is pretty stupid because that doesn't kill the Void. The Sentry is back or at least Bob is after Dr Strange exercised his whatever zombie form. Ive never even hear of this oblivion guy.
@@gtd360 nope, you confuse Knull with the King in Black. Knull is the being (that died) while King in Black is the title, which Eddie Brock took over after he killed. Besides, every single universe has its own Knull / King in Black, so he isnt all that spectacular

I absolutly love the character design used for Them here. The fact that they can't even maintain a stable physical body is very telling and it's just gorgeously stylized. Well done Marvel and props to you Rob as always for the passionate and riveting delivery.

“You are hardwired to follow…a captive of idolatry, created to worship.” This statement hits HARD. This does relate to the number of stories throughout Marvel’s history (The stories mentioned here and others; i.e. The latest Carnage storyline, The true origins of Hydra, The 691 earth’s Protégé story). This also hits real life a bit: “Anything can be real…if you believe in it.”

Oblivion is just a cosmic entity, and "universal" cosmic entity like eternity will be on par at the same level. White Phoenix of the crown being omniversal is easily more powerful than Oblivion, and can turn what is nonbeing into being.
Oblivion is WAY beyond universal. He's a minimum high multiversal. And even the Living Tribunal states they are equal now. So are you saying that the Tribunal is universal?

I don't know much about Oblivion. Just of them. But the page with Hy-Brasil and El Dorado. Turning away. Sounds like an oblivion event. The wiping out of something to point that existence of the place becomes legend if it ever existed.
With all that build up, I thought that guy was going to be Carnage.
How many most powerful beings are there? After hearing that 2 to 3 times it loses all meaning. These so called omnipotent beings always losing to mortals or being tricked or trapped. It tends to be more ridiculous than amazing as much as I love overwhelming power.
Yeah, i hated the whole DC storyline with the whole gods of the multiverse and our earth heroes winning the day.
I think there should be some beings just beyond our understanding and power to stop.
In Thor's classic storyline, "Ragnarok & Roll", where the Celestials return to Earth and defeat a fully powered Destroyer armor with just a thought was exactly the way to handle them

TOAA was always written as the final (except for one non cannon Thanos story that eluded there could be more past him)

He is the beginning and end of everything and everyone. He is so powerful no one can see his true form and survive apparently because he is oblivion personified.

I have a few questions, because I'm from Portugal and we don't have a cultural costume of reading comics as much as you people.
1: Why isn't TOAA the most powerful, since the character is the reflection of our Christian God. The One true King.
And also, why does Marvel need a version of Constantine if they have Strange. Would Strange be the counterpart to that helmet egipcian look sorcerer from DC?
Yeah dr fate and dr strange are equivalent. The two company like copy each other. You can almost say marvel or DC is the elseworld universe to the other.
No one really knows who stronger. One above all =presence>oblivious=night mother
The The One Above All is no reflection of the Christian God.
Jahwe/Kyrios/Allah exist as one of the Allfathers in Marvel Comics and is only planetary.
The One Above All is behind this planetary Allfathers and much more an Multiversell Being. It is only that when the stories a written most of the Time it is given us the Christian perspective so that we as readers could see how important it is from our point of view. Marvel even says this in his own Comic Books that Everytime you see The One Above All it is an Interpretation from the point of view of the characters.
Oblivion is the Void and UnExisting. It is outside of the Multiverse and even outside the First Firmamet so it is an beginning that did see the Creation of the Multiverse already 8 times. So even The One Above All is only an mere child to it.
Marvel has no John Constantine like character and the tried all the Time to creat one so yeah, finaly the did make one that feels like there Version of it.
He is actually the most powerful as he is beyond the concept of tiering. Oblivion is just one of the super powerful entities of Marvel much like the Beyonders.
TOAA is considered the creator god of the marvel multiverse and is omnipotent inside of it alone... Oblivion is outside of that and represents nothingness so will exist after TOAA as well as the Marvel multiverse has perished. These entities exist somewhere in(or out of depending on perspective and story) the Omniverse which is where all the Multiverses including Marvel and DC live...Oblivion is a being from a place outside of Marvel.
TOAA created only the Marvel Multiverse not the Omniverse (that we know of at least) hence him appearing as a writer to the Fantastic Four. Hope that helps

Obviously, it is an icey event to end every version of the multiverse. It goes back to an X Men Iceman his stories were basically part of the Obviouslians continuing plaguing Iceman. It was something of a mystery. Why? But maybe this is about to be particularly important as it is possible his return is connected to the origins of the mutant race. However, if true, this is just the tip of the multiverse iceberg? Ice and fire, Phoenix and Ice Giant, like the known elements, are particularly important to? Elemental Forses and the original generation of the multiverses gods are to rip things apart from the Marvel universe, the very forses that created it, and there is no one to stop it, at least in the known marvel universe, but presumably perhaps the new universe there's one brand that could Starbrand.

I love Rob's excitement. But when things get into grandiose cosmic entities and absolute universal concepts, you begin to lose me.

I was going to ask why you aren't interested in abstract levels of power but I took a second to think about it and you're right... those levels of power are just way too overpowered and lose all meaning because you can't rank infinity, eternity, and nothingness, on a scale. They begin to lose their novelty.
