He says there was no real purpose for this story since things went back to how they were. But maybe the point was to show just how bad things could go. How close it could come to everything going out forever. Thanos with the Infinite Gauntlet has been seen as the end, but really it was an end to much of life, but not of reality itself. The threat posed by oblivion, not the cosmic entity per say, but the literal end of all things, is what was shown in this story.
You miss the point entirely. It's "the hero's journey" set to an interdimensional epic. In the end, the rest of the story is backdrop for the singular hero's story arc. At least that's my interpretation.

I think at the end of the day, these events have a message for the reader. Continuity is retcon'd all the time so what does any outcome matter in anything comics related? The final panels wherein Herc establishes himself as a hero is pretty worthwhile in and of itself. Maturation comes in many ways and takes many forms and sometimes when it happens nobody sees and even more so you could very well find yourself back at square one after the fact. Regardless, it's almost kinda relatable
Perhaps chaos king was personally inside Zeus, then protected him from Galactus' attack. When Hercules attacked he could have just let the blow happen, to get him to open the portal to that God realm.

Maybe the LT was still seeking guidance from TOAA. LT is powerful, but Chaos King is the aspect of Oblivion(0.01% of Oblivion's true power). I think Rob is spot on in his final analysis. The stakes are equal to Secret War but not nearly as epic, so it just feels overblown with no narrative purpose.

You touched on the exact issue I thought of after Jane Foster sacrificed herself. The sacrifice became pointless, the battle with cancer became the same, because they just briught her back immediately. Any investment in comic books is marred by the fact that no one truly dies, and everyone can just be brought back, and that is why their big stories fail, because we know there's no consequence for anything. Even when they're imprisoned they simply escape. Comic books kill any emotional attachment because at the end of the day, nothing happened. Nobody loses anythimg and that's crappy story telling no matter how good the concept may be. I suggest they emulate anime. And let stuff end.
I know I'm super late to your comment and this video but I'm glad someone says it. I love a good chunk of these characters and I like superhero comics alot but after a while these sort of things just feel meaningless since they in essence eventually just go back to the same way as they began. I'd like something like marvel ultimates again, where for the most part, events were concrete and when people died they stayed dead.

There are a lot of demons that claim to be Satan in Marvel but none of them really are and none of the demons (mephisto Satannish, Dormammu, etc) even know if Satan ever existed. The closest thing we got is Lucifer who is basically Biblical Satan in the fact that Lucifer (in both the Bible and in Marvel) led a rebellion against God and was cast out of Heaven.

I liked chaos war. One of the best parts is it came out the same time as the cosmic. Heros had their cancer verse story so elements such as the deathless sleep and dead heroes rising in Chaos War added to the stakes of the assault on death in the cancerverse storyline.
Yeah Rob you're not quite right about the Living Tribunal. Like in Marvel's Cosmic titles he used to show up all the time as just kind of not so much a plot device but more like... A narrator. He used to just kind of be the narrator deliverer of exposition it a lot of stories. Like I remember reading a Silver Surfer comic in the 90s where he took some alien on a tour of the inside of a Celestial. And for like no reason really. That was just what that story was about, it was like hey what are the inner workings of a Celestial like? It went nowhere.
I actually did find the pay off to be worth it. A happy ending for all. Comics, movies and TV shows these days are all about doom and gloom and shock value. I’ve had enough of the negativities. A happy end for a story shouldn’t be a bad thing.

Towards the end of the video you stated the chaos king doesn’t exist anymore. But he does exist outside the marvel space time continuum. Frequently in comics we see people accessing things outside of their reality. In theory the chaos king can come back if someone comes across the bubble Hera created where he is now trapped. Im sure someone said it already but the olympian alternative to valhalla is the Elyisian Fields, rserved for only the greatest of heroes, so basically only a small fraction make it in there. I think the minimum entry requirement is dying in battle while being acknowledged as a true hero, meaning you need to have some accolades accrued before you die. Its basically like paradise earth and spa, I think beautifu women serve you, but I am not sure how are why they are there canonically.

Towards the end of the video you stated the chaos king doesn’t exist anymore. But he does exist outside the marvel space time continuum. Frequently in comics we see people accessing things outside of their reality. In theory the chaos king can come back if someone comes across the bubble Hera created where he is now trapped. It’s just a thought.
Im sure someone said it already but the olympian alternative to valhalla is the Elyisian Fields, rserved for only the greatest of heroes, so basically only a small fraction make it in there. I think the minimum entry requirement is dying in battle while being acknowledged as a true hero, meaning you need to have some accolades accrued before you die.
Its basically like paradise earth and spa, I think beautifu women serve you, but I am not sure how are why they are there canonically.
