46:50 These blurbs were NOT actually included in the original publication of the manga but rather, in the later volume releases as extra material between chapters! 56:46 I think the reason why the localization team for the Part 5 anime changed "Gang-star" to 'Primo Mafioso" is probably just to avoid potential copyright issues from the hip hop duo Gang Starr. With how many musical reference already have trouble getting cleared in relation to character and Stand names, I assume that the localization team was just covering their bases to ensure that any potential musical references were obfuscated enough to get past copyright

As someone that was active during the run of Pitter Patter Pop I have to add a couple of things:
-yes, the main gameplay was tiles but as with every gacha it's main objective was to get all characters, including special versions (the most common one was Giorno vs Giorno with a Fro that you'd get at the begining). Also you had a tower with rooms you could place your favorite characters in and decore their rooms.
    - Sometimes your characters would visit eachother and have pretty senseless and funny interactions. I personally loved Mista just coming in to torture dance anyone. Once Bucciarati came to visit Kakyoin and gave him he whole "taste of a liar" speech after Kakyoin just reroed away.
    - You could get a Jail cell as a decoration for Jotaro's room, so it became very popular in the community for people to just put characters in Jail. A lot of people put Dio in jail for human rights violations or just horny jail lol.

I think in the case of the part 4 character designs changing (and to some extent the part 6 change) could also be interpreted as part of the characters' perspectives. Part 4 is narrated by Koichi, and he tends to start with being timid, so it makes sense for him to view these new encounters with people as more intimidating. But as he sees them in person and as they fight and get overpowered, he sees them as less intimidating, and visually they become more "on his level" so to speak (helps that he played a part in beating both).

46:50 Just wanted to clarify that the bio pages were added in the volume release, after the chapters had already been published. These were basically extra details added at the end of chapters that the original run did not have. Also the details mentioned in the bio page seem to be implying the fact rather than saying it. So In actuality, the Rikiel bio page adds nothing to the "Giorno should have been in Stone Ocean" argument. It’s just a fun extra detail, nodding at Giorno also being a son of Dio.

Honestly, Araki not wanting to make Fugo a Traitor makes sense. Minus being in the bad headspace, Fugo is insanely powerful stand user and I would think the fight would be one of the most brutal fights ever. The Gang having to avoid the virus and absolute rage of Purple Haze and Fugo would be the worst. So yeah, honestly as much as not a lot of people dislike Fugo’s Leave, I feel like it was the right choice on Araki’s Behalf.

Additional observation on the connection between Jouta and Jolyne: both are characters who have uneasy relations with their father, Jotaro, and have similar abilities. Charmy Green having Star Platinum's strength with Hierophant Green's noodle range mirrors pretty well with what Stone Free can do. In fact, at one point Stone Free is even commented on smelling like soap, funnily enough.

This sends you on an entirely game-exclusive trip, during which you encounter Hol Horse who temporarily joins your party due to mutual interests.

On the subject of Anasui, Hazamada and Koboyashi's designs changing, I think it's interesting to bring up how David Productions kept the later design of those three (probably for more consistency like Salty says), but they actually stuck closer to the manga in Part 3 and how Iggy's appearance slowly morphed from a realistic looking boston terrier to the more stylized Jojo faced doggo we all know and love.

I always felt like Anasui's original design maybe leaned too far into the feminine side, so it was toned to a more inbetween version
Tho I also like the theory that the more female Anasui could be a disguise he used to get around the Female wing of the Prison without being noticed
But at the end of the day his whole design's point was indeed to go beyond the concept of gender reconfirmed by David Productions themselves even asking Araki about this and him saying that he would be fine if the Anime used the Female Anasui design throughout, but that was most likely never realised due to staying closer to the source material

I don't know if Salty will ever elaborate on this in another video, but in the light novel Purple Haze Feedback, there's more elaboration on Fugo as a person and character development.
There's also a discrepancy in origin stories, as there was no Fugo backstory in the manga. So while the light novel made it about a professor speaking poorly on Fugo's dead grandmother, in the anime it's that he preys on Fugo as a boy.
Also, there are a lot of connections to other parts. Like the main villain of the book is the younger brother of Tonio from part 4, and he and his team look for a lost stone mask in Italy, that Stroenheim from part 2 was searching for before he died

Banger video as usual, Salty! The choice of guest narrators was great too. I found Marcie’s channel last month and it was a nice surprise to hear them here. It’s also great that Kira Buckland was glad to lend her voice to this project!
I can’t imagine the insane level of work that went into the research, scripting, recording, and editing that went into this series. Mad props to you all, and thanks for your hard work. You can bet I’ll be watching the next part when it drops, whenever that may be.

Small little tidbit about Diamond Records drop someone who played it since launch day
When the Reversal update hit it was even stranger than it seems because there was periods where the original action gameplay WOULD come back. And some of the newer characters would get reworked to work in both styles.
Eventually it was just the turn based for the most part but it was still a really weird time. Having to build resources for 2 very different gameplay styles at the same time was very likely one of the many nails in that game's coffin

IDK if Saltman said it in Part of of trivia or not but i think about how someone pointed out that Part 6 had many similar battles and tropes to Part 3 (being how they're both the last part in their respective trilogies) is cool and is an interesting fact when you think of it as a small step to araki "Remixing" past parts into Part 7 and onward
Also using the term "Remix" in a music heavy referenced media is a great term

For the lost Phantom Blood movie, im curious why you didn't mention that the animation director was asked about it in an interview last year and his response was "I don’t want you to see me angry and pissed off, so it is better if I don’t answer this question.". I think it's pretty interesting and gives a little bit of insight as to what happened.

@@Saltydkdan haha I get it this video was definitely a lot of work. Another thing, I was waiting for you to mention when talking about the band soul'd out that Araki made an album cover for them and named two SBR characters after their songs. They're also huge JoJo fans themselves so I guess that's why their music is used by fans in MADs.

Fantastic and really well-researched video, awesome work as always! One thing in the beginning that is worth noting: Romi Park, who in an ACTUALLY strange twist of fate, would go on to voice Koichi in All-Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven, which would be that character's first official appearance in a video game after being cut from the final version of the Vento Aureo PS2 game!

It’s very fascinating how such a fairly recent movie could just disappear so quickly, and I would love seeing a video analyzing its takes on the story and designs, as well as a video discussing those of the Part 3 OVA series, if that'd ever be on your radar, Mr. Salt Man Salt Dan

I played Pitter-Patter Pop back in the day. Gotta say, it was a pretty cool game! The gameplay wasn't the most interesting in the world, but it was really cool seeing the redesigned characters. They all still acted in character too. Not to mention there were all those cool animations, and you could see some of the characters interact too which was a nice touch. Shame the gameplay sucks and I couldn't read any of the text.

One explanation I've heard for why Jotaro (and I guess the rest of the pre-part 4 Joestars) is so huge is that he _is_ partly of European descent. Japan is a very homogeneous country and it's apparently pretty common for mixed race kids being ostracized for being "different" and Jotaro being a 6ft. tall musclebound action figure might have been Araki's way of portraying that, albeit in a very exaggerated way.
Side note, but this ostracism thing could also be part of the reason as to why Josuke was picked on by some of his peers at the beginning of part 4.

Gio is actually pronounced more like Jo with an Italian accent or like J-O, like the perfume. The way he’s saying it is more like geo geo, which would almost sound right if you just said it super fast.
