Hey all! I'm making a pinned tweet for any corrections I receive! Don't want to misinform, so please call me out!
So without further ado *CORRECTIONS SO FAR:*
1:23:40 Araki did not write Fugo's backstory in the anime, but it is true that the production asked him if they could use his backstory from Purple Haze Feedback. I must have misread this while I was researching
I'll work on re-recording any mistakes for when I compile everything in the series into one video down the line.
Full Audiobook of Purple Haze Feedback, give it a listen when you have the chance
ruclips.net/video/Kwf_gaEQpJY/видео.html
a small correction: il vento d'oro isn't actually Giorno's theme, but rather the bucciarati gang's theme (even though it is very commonly played with giorno specifically so it is very reasonable to call it giorno's theme), Giorno has his own theme called esperienza d'oro (Gold Experience) which iirc plays during some of the first fights in the anime, before he joins the gang, and when he attains GER
not really a correction but when speaking on Duwang, i don’t think you mentioned how a lot of people refer to the main cast of DIU as the Duwang Gang, which was probably more prevalent before the anime aired
The "it justs works" meme is a reference to a todd howard talk about fallout 4 (i think) for sure it even has a song by the chalkeaters, unless that whole bit was a "is that a jojo reference?!?" joke. Subtlety is not my strong suit, but dope video regardless looking forward to the rest
It’s not a mistake, but I want to point out at 1:29:40, the Jonathan is Star Platinum theory, a key piece of evidence for most is that in Part 1, Jonathan says to Dio, “If I die, my ghost is going to haunt you!”
God I love Araki's limited knowledge of human anatomy, it's so charming.
he is a vampire after all
don't forget culture and mythology
Pucci: ocean life cant survive hot temperatures
The shit that eats whatever comes out of hydrothermal vents: 👁️👄👁️
Me fuming at the fact that they just start making shit up in episodes that are blatantly not true.
Don't forget the gator chewing FF's leg
Honestly I don't think it was intentional but in Eyes of Heaven, Fugo shows up for one fight and then disappears from the plot of the game. Only after you beat the game's story you'll then be given a side mission (you gotta go looking for it, it doesn't tell you that it's unlocked) and beating that side mission is how you unlock Fugo in the story mode. He's the only character they do that with. It's really weird. Goated game and goated video. Excellent job!
A PigPen spin on a JoJo Iceberg?
Love the Vids!
It may have been a reference to the fact that Fugo left the group when they decided to betray the Boss?
With the "how does king crimson work" meme for me the entire confusion actually came from the meme. Watching part 5 I felt like I understood it pretty well, until I stumbled upon the meme and started second guessing everything cause people would say it's wayyy more complex than that
The meme started when the only available version available in English of part 5 was bad scans with a bad translation making it very confusing, and on top of that the anime added more clarification that wasn't in the manga to better explain the power. I started with the properly translated manga and didn't have too much trouble understanding it, but once the anime came out it was a lot more obvious.
Yea, its like ripping a page from a book
Same
yeah, from what I gather when his ability activates diavolo phases out of the world and everyone mindlessly does whatever they wanted to do and don't remember anything from the time that ability was active. I guess he has a very broken stealth ability.
It's literally just a more complicated Za Warudo
I'm very sorry if this is mentioned later, but another cool tidbit is the fact that many of the parts did not receive their names (such as "Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, etc") until years after their publication. The original naming scheme went as follows:
Part 1: Jonathan Joestar- His Youth
Part 2: Joseph Joestar- His Proud Lineage
Part 3: Jotaro Kujo- Heritage for the Future (which is why the game is named this)
Part 4: Josuke Higashikata
Part 5: Giorno Giovanna- Golden Heritage
Part 6: Jolyne Cujoh- Stone Ocean
Another tidbit, Part 1 was originally serialized as
"Romantic Horror! -A Crimson Tale- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Jonathan Joestar- His Youth"
thats really cool! was part 4 really just Josuke Higashikata?
@@hyche_-6790 I imagine it has something to do with the fact that JoJo was actually only ever planned to be a trilogy. Maybe he didn't think of a tagline for part 4
@@Snavels oh thats interesting lol, I had no idea it was only supposed to be a trilogy
8:21 I think the reason why the To Be Continued thing stuck was because the anime plays the first bit of Roundabout, the guitar and piano very slowly coming into focus, and show the arrow when the song picks up abruptly.
If you're too focused on the drama, action, etc, you don't even notice the music starting to play, until you do and realize it was always there. I think that's why it really stuck with people
Did you guys know that the "Dio pose" in which Dio leans back an impossible amount was actually never done in any canon media by Dio? Or any other character for that matter?
It was only done in the Heritage for the future fighting game by Dio when freezing time, which Araki was not the creator of. The pose got a repeat in the all star battle game during the ultimate attack, but the pose is much less exaggerated and very brief.
Interesting how iconic it is considering he didn't actually use it in the main story. Guess Heritage for the future just was really influential
I remember noticing that it never appeared in the anime and was wondering where the pose originated, and then I saw the sprite of him posing in the game and was "oooooooohhh"
It's amazing because growing up before knowing literally anything about Jojo I saw a flash animation using ZA WARUDO and included that pose and the WRYYYYYYY. Finding out about Jojo years later was like waking up as a sleeper agent.
@@jeremyabbott4537 That was me when I found out the Guldo fight scene from Dragonball Z Abridged was a Jojo reference
I always thought it was just a different angle from his "wryyyy" pose when fighting Jotaro. This one: www.meme-arsenal.com/memes/0e15cd6f51e32c94dc38d7df7da7e3a5.jpg

If we're going to talk about localized names that have caused laughter, you cannot, repeat, CANNOT forget about the legendary Flaccid Pancake. For those not in the know, All Star Battle localized names of characters and stands that are mentioned in the story summary part of the game. Part 6 introduced the stand Limp Bizkit. Now, consider that "Limp biscuit" essentially means "weak cookie" or "soft cookie". ASB localized it to Flaccid Pancake and thus created one of the most laughed at, and maybe beloved, jokes of the entire community. The Stone Ocean anime gave us the more phonetically accurate "Limp Viscuit", much to the chagrine of many who wanted the voice actors to say the meme.
filthy acts a reasonal price

The “star platinum is Johnathan” theory is one I actually heard about before even watching the show, I even thought that was a plot point. I was very surprised to find that was not the case when watching the show for the first time
really glad its not
Another interesting thing about that, that wasnt talked about in the video, in the Part 1 anime, when Jonathan and Erina get married, a visage of Star Platinum can be seen in the church window behind them. This doesnt make it explicitly canon, but is really cool to think about in relation to that theory.
Fun Fact: Just how western viewers have in-jokes about JoJo, so does Eastern Fans, Tusk Act 4 is, roughly translated, called "Absolute Murder Man", due to how strong it is, and they also call Ermes "Big Brother" due to her personality towards her friends by acting mean but caring for them
Edit: As a person said in the replies, in the west we joke that Jotaro is obsessed with dolphins because of his outfit, but in the east they say jotaro is obsessed with starfish because he earned his doctorate from a thesis about starfish. Apparently Kira's Coworker and a glitch in the Vento Auero game are also more in-jokes. And a PS2 "GioGio game romhack" apparently
If you guys share more I'll edit my comment to include it
Absolute Murder Man sounds like a translation name, like your boy Zipper Man.
Ermes is a big brother, as is Bruno is best mom, Speedwagon is best wife, and Mista is a proud father of 6.
If for what ever reason Tusk isn't general enough to pass by copyright laws for the anime then I vote for Absolute Murder Man to be the substitution for all of the acts so that people without context are questioning why this lil elephant fella has such a name and when Act 4 finally makes its debut, it will instantly click why it has that name
@@ParadoxAAA tusk act 1 being called absolute murder man is perfect
similarly; in the West, because of his clothes, people joked that Jotaro is obsessed with dolphins. But if you would remember, Jotaro got his doctorate from a thesis about starfishes, so the East joked that Jotaro is obssesed with starfishes instead.
Hey Salty, quick correction! This video says "Part 1 of 4" in the title, but Jojo actually has 8 parts. Also, the name is Bizarre ADVENTURE, not Iceberg, you silly! Hope this helps! Follow for more fun trivia facts
Least condescending JoJo fan /j
umm.. actually, he was referring to the Jojo's bizarre adventure iceberg of information about the show, and the 'part 1 of 4' was referring to how many parts are in the Jojo' bizarre adventure iceberg 🤓 (this is a joke)
This had me giggling
Lmao 👍🏻 you’re totallyyyyyy right! He’s gotta correct that as soon as possible!!! 😡😡😡😡 /j
…Clearly this mistake is the work of an ENEMY STAND USER!
you really should read Purple Haze Feedback especially if you like Fugo. Without spoiling too much it's just amazing to see into his head and how his choices affected him. also one of the new characters in it has a cameo in the anime (his silhouette is visible as a Capo when showing Passione's hierarchy) which is cool. but yeah read it if you want
In case anyone actually is curious and looks, I would like to mention someone made an audio book of it on RUclips, and an English translation of the book can be found with a quick Google search. So yeah, it's easier to find now more than ever
King Crimson is waaaaay easier to understand in motion.
I was pretty confused reading the manga, but in the show the very first fight with it demonstrates it perfectly.
Part 1 huh? This series is an undertaking, holy hell. But in all seriousness, thank you and everyone else who put work into this!
Weres part 2 of the jojo recap ;(
Don't worry, you can skip the parts you don't like
@@Puerco-Potter I meant more as in “the amount of work that was put into this must have be staggering”
@@kingdisasterdracula2017 it was a jojo reference
@@Markm8 it's had literally been less than a day when you commented this
47:13 Another fun fact I'd like to add is that it's been confirmed that some of the 3D CGI animated sections of Harvest during the Part 4 anime was assisted by videogame company, CyberConnect 2 (CC2 for short). They were the same developers who made JoJo All Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven.
I’m convinced araki is a stand user. My favorite Araki dialogue has to be “the tomato saga” basically Hitohiko Araki would share updates on tomato plants his father or he owned (it’s blurry now, but I’m sure it’s easy to find)
Also Johnathon’s junk may have entered Giorno’s mother, but Giorno is most certainly made of Dio since spoiler for biology class: ball juice regenerates in living bodies. So maybe Dio should’ve actually been infertile but you know, vampire shenanigans are like love train
Alright we!re continuing this comment, I believe king crimson’s ability is almost the same as Dio’s. Let’s say the timeline plays out normally without manipulation before diavolo activates king crimson, then when he activates it he goes back, watching the events play out. Or maybe he is actually seeing into fate which could be possible seeing Araki’s other pieces
I love the author's note near the end of Part 8 where Araki talks about some really good white bread he found at a supermarket.
I'm surprised you didn't mention WRYYYY anywhere, especially when talking about Heritage for the Future. Wryy was the first ever JoJo meme that blew up in the west, all the way in the 2000s, and that soundclip is iconic. Many people didn't even realize it was JoJo, it was just a big meme at the time, including the road roller and everything. some fun internet history there. i feel old now lol
First I saw the length of the video and got excited that after the months since Salty first mentioned it, it's finally here. Then I saw "part 1 of 4" in the title and realized how massive this basically mini series will be. Salty's been spoiling us with a bunch of consistently good videos in the past few months, so it's really impressive that he's able to juggle that with long form content. Just wanted to appreciate that.
If you haven't read Purple Haze Feedback, please read it. It's fucking amazing. It includes pretty much one of my favorite Stands, All Along the Watchtower used by one of the people within Fugo's Team in PHF, Cannolo Murolo. It is basically a Mass Stand (A genre of stand that basically has little minions instead of a being, an example would be Harvest, aka Shigekiyo's Stand) that is basically a deck of cards dancing around and doing circus tricks and has some sort of hierarchy. Its main use is basically Espionage, but honestly I just love the design. Imagine just minding your own business and then from the corner of your eye is a god damn Ace of Spades, watching your every move. I appreciate the weirdly useful stands that can't really fight, like Tonio's Pearl Jam.
Also Cannolo is basically the only guy smart enough to just straight up lie about what his stand does. My man acts like its ability is divination, because he gets information he seemingly shouldn't be able to, but he's actually just spying on people.
Jojo fans can't read...
For real though the spinoff books are all great even if they do go off the wall like Jorge Joestar. The best book is 4th another day though ! !
Where can I read it?
@@bitterjames No shit, I mean what site
That part where Cannolo talks about how users with that kind of Stand have something wrong with them is really cool to me. I love thinking about what each Stand says about the user's psyche
Shoko's happiness, while strange, is really contagious. Good for her.
In the "Don't Skip Part" segment I really got scared when Salty exactly described how I started with Jojo.
I started watching JoJo with Part 4 in the Surface fight, I did because it was the most recent episode at the time so it popped up in highlighted new episodes so I wanted to see what was about. I loved the episode so much that from there I started watching the series from Part 1 and loving JoJo ever since.
I still have a huge attachment to Part 4 for getting me into the series.
same here! except it was watching part 5 on a city bus. specifically the white album fight. it got me into jojo
Doesnt matter how you start, just go back to part 1 :) i started learning about jojo from part 3 memes
I started at the beginning of part 4 as well, but i am still trying to watch through the whole series.
I started watching when I was hanging out with a group of strangers, the only similarity we had was we were all anime fans, and then one of them put on the first episode of stardust crusaders.
I read Part 7 first before getting into the series, my favorite part is Part 8 by the way which was the last part I read.
My position on the "Jonathan is Giorno's true father" thing (and I think a lot of the fandom's position, at least in the West) is that Giorno has two daddies, both figuratively and literally. He has physical and personality traits from both Dio and Jonathan.
idk man this is JoJo, it's really not *that* weird to think that Giorno can have two biological dads or that Dio and Jonathan's essences got merged somehow
No one ever says Ungalo has two dads, why is Giorno special!
@@diegodankquixote-wry3242
Same goes for Rykiel and Donatello Versus
I would agree tbh. I think that's what sets Giorno apart from Dio's other sons.
He's a perfect split between Jonathan and Dio, having Jonathan's righteousness and willpower, combined with Dio's ruthlessness and ambition.
@@diegodankquixote-wry3242 because ungalo was weak willed. He stops functioning the moment his stand is beat
something super eyepatch wolf mentioned in his part 5 video that i think is a really good point regarding king crimson & "it just works", is that the very concept of time itself being deleted/skipped over is hard to convey in a non-animated form like a comic without outright stating what's happening, because comics are made up of panels where we're supposed to sorta fill in the gaps of whats happening
take abbacchio stepping off the boat for example - a shot of abbacchio starting to get up from the boat, followed by a shot of abbacchio having just gotten off of it and standing on the dock, wouldn't be weird at all in a comic. you wouldn't think twice about it, you would just fill in the gap of "abbacchio got off the boat", so its hard to tell what exactly KC is accomplishing with his powers
in the anime we're seeing everything play out in motion, in real time, so its _much_ more obvious to see that something has skipped forward (in addition to having a little sound cue)
You really did your research! Here's a couple extra tidbits of info (mostly stuff I read on the wiki myself)
8:45 "Roundabout" by YES was one of the songs that Araki had personally requested to be used in the anime and it was ultimately chosen by the sound director because of how well the beginning notes fit with the end of episode 6 (the one where Will Zeppelli decides to give his life for Jonathan).
18:38 There's another instance of Sonic comics making a Jojo reference. Specifically the Archie comics. It's a 3-panel comic of Sonic dressed as Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star and Knuckles as Jotaro, doing two iconic poses and then going "MUDA MUDA MUDA ORA ORA ORA".
42:35 This meme was also referenced in the english dub. In episode 17 at around the 16 minute mark, Anasui says "it just works" when describing Dragon's Dream's ability, which is another stand fans have struggled to understand.
44:22 ASB's voices are really interesting, because many would later go on to voice different characters in the Jojo anime. For e.g. Giorno's VA in the game later became Anasui's in the anime, and Anasui's VA in the game became Bucciarati's in the anime. ASBR was redubbed with the anime voices probably to avoid confusion over this lol.
1:23:40 You already corrected yourself in the pinned comment, but I'd like to add that, while Fugo's anime backstory wasn't written by Araki, it does have his "seal of approval", since the anime staff showed him the initial draft before making it into the episode. Then again, the novel was also approved by him, so it's really a matter of preference.
finally a jojo iceberg after all this time. I can expect something interesting from this
Like, we got a TY the Tasmanian Tiger iceberg before we got a JoJo one.
@@cac_deadlyrang aw a fellow Ty appreciator
@@cac_deadlyrang i mean theres a shuckmeister video and a one thats 2 years old
The fact that this is an hour and a half and that it’s only part 1 of 4 excites me. I really love long-form content like this.
I don't have much interest in JoJo, but seeing you tweet about this every now and again over the past few years made me kinda invested in seeing this. I knew basically nothing about the series before going into this and I ended up watching the entire video and being captivated by it. Not sure if I'll give the series a shot myself yet since I have other things to focus on, but I'm very excited to see the next parts when they're ready.
Is this a jojo reference?
In the past month I've watched all 6 parts, I unironically just cried at the end of it all, thanks for getting me into this show man, can't wait for the next video, I'm literally going to start reading part 7 now
I decided to watch the entirety of the show because I wanted to see this video
I love seeing people gush about what they love. I feel more inclined to watch since you can tell they put their whole heart into the work
I almost always end up getting more interested in a topic when I hear someone gush about it for a while, i love it too haha. I think the only thing I can't get interested in is like.. War stuff, math or things I find gross I guess.
Passion is a wonderful thing. Idk.
@@RelicCipher Agreed! It makes me more interested and in this case I started watching JoJo due to it
If you want a great Avdol is alive story, unironically check out Jack duripper’s YTP series of part 5’s anime. He works him in perfectly into fights and dialogue it’s too perfect.
This was my first thought when he mentioned Avdol is alive, he's just hanging out with Giorno without arms and its all perfectly normal
I love Armless Avdol
**(ironically) check out Jack The Ripper YTP
I just wanna say, in regards to part skipping : while I started with Phantom Blood and went chronologically to SBR, which I'm working on reading atm, I wanted to get my bf to watch JoJo's bc i love introducing it to people, but I would not have been able to get him into it if he started with part 1. He was only somewhat interested in SDC, so that's what I started him on, with a summary of what went down in PB and a lot of telling him that I think he'll enjoy Battle Tendency lol. He'll still only watch it if I'm there to watch it with him bc the commentary is fun, but I did convince him to become interested in watching part 2 so I think it's a success in sharing the series lol
The only problem I have with part skipping, is that a lot of questions about the story, or accusations of araki being a bad writer, stem from not watching/reading the series in order, and so when araki doesn't repeat an explanation, they get confused and blame araki.
Yeah, it's also really clear in fandom spaces because they fairly often treat other fans similiarly - claims of making shit up and stuff. I also got called a weirdo once cause i was posting about part 2 characters??? But like it was just one guy so it's not like, everyone
I needed this video after that part 6 ending cause my GOD I'm feeling all the feels
Hello fellow Lotad appreciator

I don’t watch JoJo but god damn it Salty I’m gonna watch this whole series for your efforts.
Then maybe by the end you’ll decide Jojo’s is worth checking out even?
You're lazy

@@mattgroening8872 Well I haven’t watched the whole video, yet I imagine watching Jojo’s and hearing about it from a fan are two different things. Plus this is only a 1/4 of the iceberg so I imagine there will still be plenty they don’t know.
When it comes to Fugo's underuse, there's also a CANON spin off of part 5 named "golden heart golden ring", where Fugo also plays a major role and which would've been even easier to include in the anime's canon as it takes place while the gang are searching for the boss' identity
I was so lost while watching I wondered where Fugo was when Abakeyo (excuse my spelling) died
Since you were announcing this project on twitter, i was creating high expectations but man, this is probably the best jojo video i've ever seen! And its only the part 1???? You're amazing salty!
Oh yeah the other parts are better LOL
Despite the relatively simple, yet effective, editing. It feels like the presentation of the video is far better than most other iceberg videos. Typically they just have 1 image of what they’re talking about next to a video of them talking, but salty deciding to use relevant images or videos for each topic makes the quality of each one feel far higher. can’t wait for the next parts salt man
Salty you absolute legend. The fact this is chunked into chapters and is also video 1 of 4 is wild
Great start to the iceberg, can’t wait for the next one!
Just wanted to note two things:
1. I think Deadly Queen is definitely partly because of the name change, but I think it also specifically references the uh… “budget” moments of Jojo where the art is less than stellar in the anime haha.
2. AVDOL IN A MIKU CONCERT IS MY HEADCANON NOW
Love how Salty uses footage of Jail House Lock while talking about having a bad memory
I'm so happy this is already out, with this being one hour and a a half and only part 1/4 you can feel this took a lot of work!
I interpret King Crimson as working in the same way splicing a video in Sony Vegas works, with some extra steps. When he activates, the ten seconds of time within that activation are like they don't exist, except to Diavolo, who can freely adjust himself to the ten second interval however he wishes. So, for example, say someone is running at Diavolo to punch him. King Crimson activates, he moves, then the activation ends and the person still throws the punch, but now Diavolo is behind them about to blow their ass in half. That's how I see King Crimson's whole "the results are left over" thing that the anime mentions. It's not like Star Platinum where he can freeze time, obliterate someone, then resume time and have everything catch up to the opponent at the same time. King Crimson can only maneuver within the ten second erasure, not act, meanwhile everyone else essentially has a cognitive stroke.
i really appreciate that you acknowledge the r-slur as a slur
On Giorno being Jonathan's son, I always thought that a cool detail was that he originally had that dark hair that a lot of the Joestars have, but he bleached it later on. Kind of a cool balance of having both sides of his family.
He didn't bleach it or dyed it, it suddenly turned blonde one day
I've seen a lot of Jojo videos from the old days. I made a playlist with over 200 of them.
The enthusiasm for this (at the time) niche series is palpable and excited. People were having a lot of fun. There was all kinds of fanworks already, from cosplay skits to abridged series to YTP to fan songs and fan animation. There was already every kind of fanwork out there, and its incredible. I had a really great time creating the playlist.
The current state of the Jojo fanbase is no surprise if you see where it was in 2011.
Reposting videos from Nicovideo was also common. This would be frowned upon nowadays, but Nicovideo was harder for westerners to access at the time + reposting shouldn't be taboo copying is not theft. I think in itself, the videos people chose to repost is an interesting glimpse into pre-anime western fanbase. It shows what jojokes these people with limited Jojo experience were responding too.
.
The old Stardust Crusaders OVA is also available for free on the Internet Archive. There's no reason NOT to watch it if you like Jojo. I like both adaptations of Part 3, but I've rewatched the OVA more times. I recommend the English dub. Its bad, in a silly way. If you like goofy linereads, you'll love the dub.
this is the greatest name since... a long time i guess
While I'm back here i'll add one thing: I fully believe Araki Forgot. It's actually very easy for authors to forgot their work as they write it, as well as viewers. People who write serial fiction, and who never go back to read their own work, often have this occur. It's not poor memory, it's just normal. How precisely could you recite a story you last experienced a year ago, or several years ago? Even if its your own story?
I first noticed this with the Homestar Runner web series. Somewhere in a DVD commentary of the cartoon, the creators note how their own fan wiki keeps their continuity in-check, because they couldn't keep track of it themselves. It's really the only modern internet era of fan wikis and fandom that highlights and popularises these author inconsistencies.
A lot of "explanations" for Araki Forgot sound like headcanons or fanfictions to me. They are fine explanations, don't get me wrong, but I don't think the explanations were the authorial thought process.
But its as you say. Slavishly obeying the past lore doesn't always lead to a better story. Araki forgot!! good for him!!!!!
@@WannabeMarysue hamon beat's series on that is really solid, he gives realistic, non head canon explanations for "araki forgots" and has a video or two about what he actually did forget lol
I didn't know what to expect at first, but then you mentioned JoJowiki and pointed out not to mistake it for fandom one and I knew this was going to be a good video.
I love this channel cause you basically upload whatever the hell you want instead of sticking to one thing
Yeah that’s pretty much my jam
haha, Oh JoJo.
I tried to get into it. I had an utter blast watching "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Episode 1" on a wayward site that was the first that worked. I binge watched so many episodes, enjoying the establishment of various characters, fighting and training to become a threat to DIO, and culminating in an amazing fight.
It was only when gushing to my friend about how cool it was did they realize with dread that I had accidentally started with the Stardust Crusaders 1993 OVA.
20:39 I hope at some point Salty talks about how the manga hasn't actually been fully translated and released in english yet. Currently Viz is in the middle of translating and releasing both Part 5 and 6. It is interesting how they are doing it because they release the chapters on the Shonen Jump app but release them in different methods. Part 5 chapters are uploaded to the app when a full section of the volume is released for sale. Alternatively Part 6 is being updated weekly, almost every week there is a new chapter translated and uploaded onto the Shonen Jump App. As it stands nothing is being done about Part 7 onwards which could be because Araki moved away from Shonen Jump after part 6. The thing I find interesting about how the manga is localized is that as it stands the anime is ahead of the manga when it comes to official localization.
All of this to say is that to some people it is hard to read the manga if they want to do so officially they can't. I don't know if Salty covers this later in this part or if he will in the other 3 parts but I think it is interesting how it is being handled and could be apart of an iceberg of this scale.
I love Salty straight up going with the Chills vibes without full committing to the vocie
jojo has been one of my special interests for almost 10 years now and im so glad to see you finally release this video! cant wait to see the rest
"Nobody posts JoJo facts."
Hamon Beat: And I took that personally
I'm glad I was finally able to finish Part 6 in time, for you to post the absurdist nightmare that are these Iceberg Videos.
Now I can writhe in pain with mostly no spoilers.
Imo Fuga abandoning the team was pretty well executed and raised the stakes of the confrontation with diavolo a lot
honestly, with how much the anime backstory resembles Feedback's backstory (University student, bad relationship with parents, violently attacks a teacher, etc) I wouldn't be surprised if it was supposed to be an updated version of the book's backstory. I'm still hopeful that we'll have the story animated eventually
Man, I caught the Flu right as the end of Part 6 aired. After finishing it all, I had the biggest itch for more jojo and now I have this to watch. Biggest W to you my man
The reason why Araki went back and added 2 extra pages to his stand rush beat down was probably an extra "screw you" since green haired Chocolate was one of the biggest bastards in the series. It's nice know too that with every hit he's in excruciating pain due to Golden Experience's abilities lmao so those 7 pages probably felt like absolute hell and yet still an infinitesimal fraction compared to what diavolo has and continues to go through 💀
Very glad to have contributed to this! Let's go, Jojoheads!
Amazing video, cannot wait for more!
By the way, I was surprised you did not mention Hamon Beat, since he has an entire series dedicated to JoJo fun facts (and Araki Forgot and References of JoJo).
Although I am pretty sure that is because the script was written way before that, since the first part of HB's video is only around 6 months old. And since you were working on it for 3 years (MASSIVE respect by the way, that is some dedication), it would make perfect sense.
"Don't skip parts"
Literally every step in this iceberg is making me more aware of how similar the homestuck zeitgeist is to the jojo one. like- its ludicrous. one of the biggest running gags is "DONT SKIP THE INTERMISSIONS" or "DONT SKIP TO ACT 5"- and sure enough in the jojo fandom you lose SO MUCH skipping to the stands in part 3.
I’ve been waiting for this! Happy to see you got a big portion of it done. Keep up the great work my dude
Im glad to know Salty enjoys part 4 as much as I do.
the occasional JoJo's content you make is always absolutely top tier, your long form content is always so much fun to watch!
The Duwang scans are so interesting to me
Translating something from Japanese to Chinese makes very interesting results due to these two languages being extremely different and yet having a lot of influence on each other, translating the results then further into questionable English... Yeah, very interesting results
I really liked the way you explained each entry, maked the video a blast to watch. Thank you for putting effort when making this video for us, it's really hard to find a iceberg video with this level of quality. Can't wait for the next parts
It’s been really fun listening to this while working, great editing work too!! Can’t wait to see what the deeper levels have in store and to see if I get any of them as a fan since 2016!
DEADMAN'S QUESTIONS is so good!!! even if you don't like kira as a villain in part 4, it's such an interesting read/different take on how his character can be. thank you for including such a good description of this one off!!!
I always thought the “golden wind” part of Giorno’s song was actually “you’re the wind”
I’m already loving this series. It’s a ton of fun to watch, can’t wait for part 2
thank you for putting such great effort into making these, jojo's is my favorite anime/manga and i'm glad it's getting some recognition
Honestly, I thought how KC worked was like this:
Let's say that Giorno is doing a series of acts: torture dancing, jumping, summoning frogs, and eating lunch with Mista. All in that order.
King Crimson erases time, and Diavolo is aware of how this series of events will go in the next 10 seconds. For the sake of simplicity, let's assume each action take 2 seconds.
Diavolo/KC knows that in the next 2 seconds from when Giorno summoned some frogs, he will be at the cafeteria with Mista.
Diavolo and KC go over there and place themselves there while in the "time erased world" where everything looks like if you took Stardust Crusaders literally.
Typically, according to "fate", Diavolo wouldn't normally have gone there, but because he's in Time Erase, he's placing himself there. Note that while in Time Erase, Diavolo is invisible.
Diavolo then places himself behind where Giorno is, "continues" time, and impales Giorno.
Simple, right?
I find it funny that you consider "Shadow Sabbath" to not be a significantly different name to "Black Sabbath" but for some reason you consider "Deadly Queen" to be very different to "Killer Queen".
I loved how the za warudo meme got unintentially referenced in yu-gi-oh GX but mainly in the original Japanese dub of the show. The main antagonist of season 2 Sartorius played a deck of monster's called the Arcana Force which were based on the arcana tarot cards one of them being called "The World" and when summoned would be prounounced as za warudo since that is how it's suppose to be pronounced in Japanese but what made it funny was the fact that Sartorius was voiced by Takehito Koyatsu the voice actor of Dio. What was also funny was in 2016 around the time of the fifth series yu-gi-oh Arc V there was live duel event in Japan to promote the recent set at the time that featured the voice actor's of the show including the actor of the main characer Yuya and during this live duel he did the mudada joke from jojo. The thing is this actor was Kensho Ono who would go on to voice Giorno in part 5 two years later and then do the 7 page mudada scene.
Bruh, of course Araki forgets things. Dude's like centuries old, I imagine it all starts to blend together after a while.
Is this a jojo reference
The channel Hamon Beat has an entire series basically debunking every instance of Araki forgot. He invites fans to leave comments for each part then he goes through and explains why their wrong. It's very enjoyable
Salty you're the only person that can make me keep trying to get into this series. Nobody else can but these videos make me keep trying to.
After so long the iceberg begins can’t wait to watch all of it funny salt man
Dio vs Alucard being used as examples for sprite animation makes me so fucking happy as a death battle fan
hey salty just want u to know this was the last video i saw normally before my phone screen busted up
The fact that I clicked on one of his videos the minute this released makes me so happy
One could say... First?
Thank you Salty for the grub, I will now proceed to recommend your content to all my friends like you did with the jojos.
NEEEED the rest of those parts I’m eating this shit up keep it up bro
This has definitely convinced me to subscribe! Cannot wait for the rest of this series.
For part skipping you should start with part 1, if you don’t like it then go to part 2 and come back to part 1 later.
oh hell yeah, nezumiVA worked on this? i really like her stuff, cool that you two worked together :)
This made me smile so much I literally have a very painful headache now 😭👍💕
Fun fact semi related to jojo, David Production worked on the cutscenes for a spinoff game for Monster Hunter, Momster Hunter Stories 2. Its neat seeing familiar names in the credits of a game youre finishing for the first time
More fun facts about MH amd JoJo: there have been multiple crossover events. In Monster Hunter 3G in Japan, there is an event quest that, upon clearing, allows you to craft a Hammer with Crazy Diamond on the side. The hammer also heals your teammates if you them with it! It the localized version, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the Crazy Diamond design is replaced by a sceptre. In monster hunter generations ultimate/MH XX, there is a quest that allows you to create Bansho (japanese delinquent) armor for your NPC feline companion, a Palico. The design heavilly takes reference from Jotaro, complete with the wacky hat and golden chain.
So is part two of this series going to be in a matter of days or a matter of months? Because already I'm loving this and I need more.
The plan is to try and get it out before December ends, but if I need to take extra time I sadly will (I’m on break for January and February lol, gonna put out 3 and 4 after that)
Salty got me into jojo with his phantom blood videos and I want to say, thank you for ruining my life and my parents marriage.
Ruined lives and marriages is a JoJo reference though so it's all good.
@@spacewizarddragonpuncher2461 oh shit your right.
Tonio saying "customer" in a huge text bubble actually destroyed me holy shit
1:19:18 It can also be noted that Jotaro nearly dies in the same manner during the first encounter with Kira’s father. During the fight, Josuke attempts to tear the photo Kira’s father is in but upon tearing it, the damage done to the photo goes back to Josuke and Jotaro, with Jotaro getting the same head split treatment before Josuke’s Crazy Diamond fixes the photo and reverses the damage.
I greatly respect the time and effort this must have took. It'll be a blast going on this journey with you.
this video actually got me really interested in jojo, i always loved it's artstyle but never actually watched or read it in full
gonna start tonight!
Omg have fun!! Part 1 can be a bit rough, but if you stick with it, shit is amazing
As like you, I’m a HUGE Jojohead since high school and all of this knowledge is indeed common. With this being an hour long similar to this one, I’m excited for the other parts to see if I find something I never knew yet, as it would be Interesting to see the rest of this manga’s extensive history.
Regarding the "Don't Skip Parts" portion... I'm kinda 50/50 on the matter, but I will say; I skipped straight to Part 5, got so confused that I didn't want to even bother with the series, and almost avoided it completely until I gave it another chance some months later and started from the beginning to actually get a grasp on what I was even *attempting* to watch. Now that I was able to get the entire picture of the series from Parts 1-6, I can say Part 5 is actually my most favorite of them all, and that wouldn't have happened if I just skipped around willynilly.
Yes, more of this please
I don't even watch JoJo but I know how much effort you put into this video so I'm totally going to watch this video anyway
Just Subscribed. Loved this Iceberg. Looking forward to part 2.
1:25:47 The official translation of JoJo Part 7 has the funniest, they put "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" as "Heinous Acts Done at an Affordable Price"
Thats not actually gonna be the bame
