    Thanks Mata fantastic idea, that's what I do since my mix for the bloom technique is the same but without color, I do make US floetrol thinner since the Australian floetrol is much thinner, so I thin mine out with M1 .also there a painters mesh used in gallons size they come 2 to a bag for less than 3dollars at Home Depot and no more strainer needed just cut a small round putt in the top of the floetrol with a rubber band and its filters it fantastically

      Hello. I am new to pouring and l am confused.
      Do you pour paint on canvas? If so how will it stay on canvas? It must be very messy and run all over.
      If you do pour paint do you use brushes?
      Would that pour method be considered art? But second thought art can be most anything as art is subjective.
      Would you just have blobs of paint and no brush work.
      Also can you do animals people various building and so on.
      What is the point of pouring paint on canvas?
      Sorry if l sound ignorant but l am
      Do you use colors? If do so wouldn't the colors be muddy,?
      It sounds interesting, l will investigate thanks for your patience with me l am just now learning about pouring.
      Is it a style or technique?

    Hello nice too meet U from Spain!! and thank's for your teaching!!! 😍 What do u use this for...? Cup tecnic, blow dryer tecnic, deeping tecnic, spiral cup tecnic...? And do U addit to every color??? I mix my colors with a base like a pouring medium: untited base paint semigloss, and poliurethane gloss varnis. 15ml - 3.1.
    The floetrol i use for one of my cell activators is with 1 part of amsterdam titanium white paint, 3 parts of floetrol. 1/2 Ellmers school glue and 5 drops of min wax. There are people that also put acrylic ink.
    I do put It, in another recipe whithout the school glue.
    This for blow tecnic and swipe tenic.
    But I' never try other tecnics with Min Wax instead of silicone oil 100%...
    I would follow and check more your cool art!! 🤗🎨👏🏽✨

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  3 года назад +2

      It does have a bad smell. I don't notice it when it's all mixed into the floetrol, but I do notice it when I open the minwax can. It's one of the reasons I mix a bunch at once. So I only have to open the can once. But keep the windows open when I mix it. And tend to only do it when the kids are at their dads.

    Hi Mata, I love watching your amazingly informative videos, which are always so easy to follow and understand and actually see things close up. I have a question as based here in England, we don't have the same products you do in the US! I understand the pre-stain wood conditioner has to be oil, but we don't have Minwax Pre Stain Wood Conditioner (oil based) here in the UK and to get it from Amazon is madly expensive (£40 plus £10 delivery! About $60). In fact we don't seem to have a oil based pre stain wood conditioner in the UK at all! Would you be able to recommend an alternative? How about an oil based clear wood stain? Would that do it? Or I found Owatrol (Floetrol) do a Oil Rustol - Rust Inhibitor & Paint Additive, do you think that's something that would be a good substitute? It's so frustrating that we can't get what you have in the US, grrrr 🤬. Thank you so much for all your help! Heather, Great Britain

    Hi there! I know this is a pretty belated comment but I have a question. Can you use Valspar wood conditioner or is Minwax the only suggested brand? I have lots of the Valspar. 😂 Thanks so much!

    Thank you so much for all of your helpful and lovely videos. I am just getting started. My head is spinning with all the different recipes on youtube! I bought the red can (oil based) Minwax like you use and American floetrol. I also have Liquitex Pouring Medium and Sherwin Williams Ovation Plus Base C, untinted interior semi gloss. I'm confused about a pillow mix and a base mix. Are they different? I see everyone using a torch and I have one but then I saw where you can't torch house paint. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or direct me to more of your videos. I really want to do lacing so I can make dragonfly wings at some point. Thank you for taking the time. 💜

      Hi Hazel, it sounds like you are interested in learning the bloom technique, which one I've never fully tackled (yet) But I highly reccomend checking out my friend @GarrickBrownArtStudio ! His blooms are amazing, and he's got lots of videos teaching about the technique.

    Do you have to clean it as well as you have to with silicone? Great video and information. I wish I had gotten you in on the pourade. Your great.

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  3 года назад +2

      Definitely not messy like silicone. I don't have to clean the canvas before varnishing, and theres no residue once the paints are dry. It can be a little messy when you are handling it directly. If you get it on your hands it is oily, and a pain to wash. Which is why I love that dropper. And tend to make up a big batch to use up when I'm painting for the day.

    This is cool....I'd love to see like a side by side...same colors and brands, just one mixed with your special mix floetral and the other is everything mixed with just plain regular floetral....maybe you already have😊
    One question, does this affect varnishing later? I doubt it...but being oil based i just wondered.
    This was great thanks! Especially for doing some of the math :) I was thinking to just add it to a full new gallon if I liked it....wonder how much I'd need to add there? If you already know I'd love to know. I am beyond horrible at math ;) also, if you think its better to do in small batches I'd love to know that as well :)
    Congrats on well over a thousand subs!! :)

      @@MetaPours that would be awesome!!! Also, when you say 3 drops of minwax to every ounce of floetral, is that drops from those plastic pipette you used in this video? I have those to and I just wanted to get an idea so maybe I can try doing drops into like one of those small shot glasses with measurements in the side, then I could try and put it into ounces for a larger batch...just more how my brain works🥴😳 but just wanted to make sure we would be dropping similar drops ;)
      Can't wait to see what's next :) thanks so much for sharing!!

      @@jadetobin Yes, I'm talking about that plastic pipette I'm using. If you have something similar I think it would work well creating comparable drops.

    Just discovered your channel! Will the min wax conditioner affect your varnishing or resin paintings? Thanks for doing this it is so hard to get Aussie floetrol.

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  2 года назад +2

      I've had no issues with drying. It doesn't leave an oily residue the way silicone can.
      I don't use resin, but I've varnished many just fine.

    • @MetaPours

      It doesn't give the same results as the prestain. But I do use the polycrylic as a varnish, and love it for that.

    Are you adding the minwax to create cells in substitution for silicone? I must be a little behind on my video watching because I hadn't heard of this before. But I'm all about using something that adds cells that I don't have to clean my canvas off before I varnish it!

    • @MetaPours
      @MetaPours  3 года назад +1

      I would 't say it's a substitute for silicone. But as an additive it helps the floetrol act more like Australian Floetrol, whicb helps make beautiful lacing and cells. But there is a certain "look" that you can get with silicone induced cells. And I don't think it recreates that exactly. But I personally prefer this over silicone. Especially when it comes to the cleanup factor after it's dried.

    Help! Video old but new to me. I just happen to have Miniwax and am going to use Floetrol for the first time. Question on these measurements. 2 ml = 80 drops. 3 drops to 1 oz Floetrol. That doesn’t make sense. What is the measurement for 1 drop?
