And failing those first steps will shut you down so quick. I hear the Love in your Voice Meta every time you give away your Amazing Creative Energy. Thank You Beautiful
Thanks so much Derrick! Teaching is definitely my passion! And I love the feeling when other's share what they made after being inspired by, or trying the recipe of one of my videos.
I have not been inspired in fluid art in a very long time, you might say, I got bored with the same ‘ol thing!!. How I bumped into you?, it’s like you knowing how much water you have used, I don’t know…but I’m glad I did. Pearl pouring has been a mystery to me until now!!!. What was I thinking?!?! 😵💫
Meta, I thank you sooo, very much for this tutorial. You have no idea, how many canvases I have wasted trying to do pearls. You are so clear in your teaching. I have all of the ingredients ( and more! ) trying to get pearls right. I am thanking you from the bottom of my heart. You’re a great teacher and a great artist It’s hard to find anyone so clear. Please keep teaching!! Thanks again 😊 Diane
Thanks! I am brand new at this and haven't even done my first piece yet. I've been stockpiling for my guest bathroom/studio😂 for about 3 months now and I don't really know where to start, but after watching this, I think I will start here. I really appreciate all the work you went to to show us how to do this properly and your generous spirit to share your hard-earned knowledge with us.
Looking forward to trying this out - thanks for sharing. Folks, if you want to know how she mixes her other paints, check the previous comments, she posts it several times.
I am so glad to have someone real down the steps to this technique. I have primarily been painting and doing realistic photography. It has been challenging trying to perfect this technique. For me, it is more difficult than it appears.Thank you again for breaking it down.
This is a really great video. As a long time artist who started doing acrylic flow painting by watching videos, the great pearls were a mystery until now! By the way light body paints are thicker than regular acrylics. Heavy body are even thicker until you get to a paste consistency! That's all there is to the explanation but choosing the right one for what you are doing is the real trick! Thanks for the lovely show!
Stumbled across this video while looking for how to pearlize paint for something completely unrelated. And oh my goodness! This is SO COOL! I’ve never done a pour painting but after watching this I want to quit my job and just create & sell paintings like this! I’m sure there is a long learning curve and you have to have the talented artist’s touch, but wow I love this! Thanks for sharing!
Be careful! That sounds a lot like me the first time I stumbled across a pouring video. It can be addicting! There is a learning curve as there is with anything. But I highly recommend trying it out!
I’ve been struggling with pearl pours for weeks! After seeing this video, I’m pretty sure I was adding far too much water at a time and breaking paint binders. So grateful for this video! Thank you, thank you!
The liquitex after 2019 the mixture caused a whole bunch of cells some of the liquid pores were overwhelmed with sales so a lot of artists quit using it past 2019 unless of course you want a lot of sales and then go for it you know what I'm saying anyway it's the first time I'm watching you and I really like your attention to detail and stuff and so I will continue watching
You doing this recipe was the best. It is a smaller quantity than most other artists use. Example 14 ounces in 16 ounces of flow trawl. Thank you so much for the step-by-step and telling us to be patient can’t wait to try the results. Now all I have to do is mix colors
I add probably close to an ounce of water at a time and it works fine for me. I do start with paint, add the lqtx and stir, then half floetrol stir, other half stir. I also use behr deep base clear satin enamels for half of DA white satin enamels. Funny how we can use exact recipe and not get results or use different recipe and get the results. So many different factors contribute to individual results. Thanks Meta. I’ll try your recipe just for fun. I’m sure my results will be great 💓
My first time watching your videos. I’ll be back❣️ Your measurements and mixing description is the BEST. I really got a good sense of what and why. Thank you. 👏👏👏
I have been struggling with the pearl pour. My greatest take-away from this video is to add the water a little at a time. I think I have been adding too much at a time, and not enough water overall. Can't wait to give this another try!
Thank you 🙏, I appreciate all the information and demonstrations with your Pearl Cell recipe. I thought the painting you did, near the end of the video, came out beautiful. Thank you, stay safe, take care and I look forward to your next video 🙏♥️💐💐
My satin enamel came without the oily layer. It was ordered from Amazon . I am wondering if that was defective. I am going ahead and trying a pour tomorrow with it. Have you ever gotten a new jar without that oily layer before? Thank you so much for your tutorials.
I love that you make these videos . So amazing of you to do . I just watched your video on how to mix paint for the Dutch pour and there was no liquatex pm in those paints . Any particular reason ?
Great tutorial and I thank you for sharing. I do have a question about how you mixed the other colors, the yellow oxide and the payne's gray? Maybe you have a video on how you mix your colors?
Hi Meta, This video was very helpful for mixing the base coat for a pearl pour. I would like to see how you mix your paints…what ratios you use and what products…1 part paint to 1 part Floetrol and a squirt of Liquitex pm and water? Is is the same consistency as the base coat?
Thanks for sharing your recipe Meta. Im totally going to try it. I cant ever get very many pearl cells when I've tried. Thanks again. Beautiful pour as always🤩😍🤩😍
Hi Meta! What an excellent video! I tried this technique today and found that my initial coat of white, which I stretch as much as possible, flows over the subsequent colors when I put down. I tried several other pieces making the white basecoat thinner, and then thicker, but I continue to have the same problem. I have done the test to make sure that all paints are the same consistency. The longer the painting sits, the more the white runs over the colors, making them milky and diluted. Do you have any idea what I’m doing wrong? thank you so much for your help!
Thank you, for your super video It's very hard to watch videos after videos and you can't figure out what you are doing wrong, because of you I now know thank you again

Great tutorial Meta!! I haven't tried this technique yet. I will have to get some of the satin enamel and give it a try!! 💖 Love the colors you used in the pour beautiful!! 😍 💞
Thank you for the tutorial! I don’t know what I am doing wrong though 🤷♀️I followed the recipe to a T- NO pearls whatsoever. Could it be I am using the artist loft semi opaque vs what you are using however it is still soft body ??? I’m so confused 🤔 any thought or suggestions would be appreciated!! Then you so much!!

Thank you so much for your presentation of Pearl Mix!!!!! You explain so clearly and like you I do believe in the scale. I'm a beginer and maybe somtime running too fast to the litle know ledge I have. I wanted to try pearls but didn't understand most recipes. I do have a question - when doing a dark background pearl you stil use the white DecoArt satin Enamel? or you use a color to go with the background you chose? I do hope the you read from old videos that you showed. Thank you so much !!!!!💜
Hi Ilana! Thank you so much for the super nice comment! To try and answer your question, I haven't tried a super dark background or pearling base yet, but I have used blue a few times, and when I do I use the satin enamel blue I mix it with artist loft white, which really softens up the blue. But if I wanted to go super dark I think I would use a different color of artist loft, like black. Or maybe blue depending.
I love following your videos and I simply have to ask you a question that I hope you can answer. I have just started on pearl pouring and have succeeded in getting the pearls. However, if I wish to add more colour / play with and rework the composition and colours a bit, how do I avoid leaving holes when I make a line or similar, or avoid mounts with too much paint on the canvas ? I am inspired by SaraTaylor who always plays with the colours after pouring, but I don’t understand how the surface can still look so even afterwards ? Do you have any videos on that ? Or know someone who does ?
While the paint is still wet it will level itself out. But it's important to use very thin paints, and a very light hand. It's part trial and error too. If you layer them too thick you will know.
@@MetaPours Is your pearl base paint thicker or thinner than the top paint layer ? I have tried / read / seen receipes for both versions ? Does the consistency of both layers differ much from each other or just slightly ?
