I've been struggling with my pearls and found this video very educational. I appreciate the manner in which you explain the mixing. Off to give it a try.
I love your magic editing. Cool. Pretty painting. I have never gotten that many pearls. Honestly I got more without Satin Enamel. But I will try this and see. Thank you!
I’ve been trying out pearl painting and I just love it. I have been having trouble with the consistency of the paint mix. My last try I think I got the colors too thin and the base color swallowed up the colors. I like a lot of color so I will keep trying. Thanks for the video. Very helpful
Great videos, Meta! I was about to start doing some pearl pours a while ago when there was a lot of controversy as to whether the "new" Liquitex Flow/Soft Flow acrylic paint would work for the pearls like they used to. But, I'm now back wanting to try this method and I have two questions. 1.) If I wanted to use a large canvas (30" x 48" for example), and to have a lot of negative space on the top and lower portions of my painting, would I cover the entire canvas with the base mix or just the areas of the canvas where I wanted to have the pearls? 2.) If you've watched some of Sara Taylor's pours, she calls them "melting pearls". Would you think hers are the same kind of pearls? I thought to ask you this because your mixing videos are so exact, clear and easy to follow and I greatly appreciate that! Thanks so much for taking the time to do these tutorials to share will all of us!!
Really pretty! I just watched both of your videos on mixing the pearl base and then mixing the paints. I appreciate you so much because I didn’t know to thin the paints out! I’m excited to give it a try! ✌️🌻✌️
Hello 😊 I will have a silly question. I'm not sure if I understand well. Do you put white paint in the base coat mixture? Sorry to be complicated. Thank you very much in advance 💕
Floetrol is a paint additive that helps extend the dry time of paint. However, it is widely used in the paint-pouring community as a pouring medium. I'm not sure if the satin enamel is water based... I know the enamel part is quite oily... And you have to mix it into the paint really well. It will separate if you leave it sitting on your self for a while.
question please,, I only have Liquitex heavy gloss red label gel. Can it water it down and can I use it instead of the gray label? I only have the red label.
wow that look awesome, love the colors. I'm so glad you have had some time to put up some videos, I've miss seeing them. You explain things so I understand it, so thank you for taking time to teach us. The amount of peal pour is alot which I know could be cut in half but my question is how long can you keep it where you would still get the pearl reaction?
Hi Barbara, Thank you! And I'm happy to be putting up videos too. I've missed everyone! It really is my pleasure to help people learn this type of artform. As far as your question goes, I'm not sure how much I can reduce the satin enamel, and still get the pearls, but it sounds like an experiment that needs to happen!
I am a beginner and not sure if pearls are the same thing as the cells mentioned by other paint pourers? Did you get this Pearl effect without silicone oil ?
I do get the pearl effect without silicone. It's all in how the paints are mixed. However satin enamel does have some kind of oil in it. (fairly certain) and I know it contributes. The difference between pearls, and cells is (from what I understand) the amount of paint combined to create them. Pearls are generally a single color. In this case, created by the white paint. Cells are when multiple paints form together creating cool multi-colored cells. Sometimes you will hear people use the term interchangeably. I personally love them both.
Thanks so much for tutorial, I’m in Oz and a beginner. How do I see written recipes for this video. I’m at a loss, your results are so nice. Is liquid enamel a house paint? Thanks, Marla
Hi Marla, here is a link to part 1 of this video that goes over the recipe for the pearl base. I also go over exactly how to mix it. ruclips.net/video/bf9hFc-ul_M/видео.html The recipe is 1 part paint to 1 part floetrol. The paint part is 1/2 artist loft soft body, and 1/2 decoart satin enamel. Using actual measurements it would be 4 oz of Soft body + 4 oz of Satin enemal + 8 oz of the Floetrol. Then you add the Liquitex Pouring Medium, then the water to thin.
Oh, and Decoart Satin Enamel is more of a craft paint than a house paint. I buy mine at Michaels. but it is also available on Amazon. It comes in 8 oz jars.
Thanks for the updated recipe. It’s funny how many different ones there are. For the color paint I use 1 pt paint, 2 pts LQTX, 3 pts floetrol and water to thin. I get great results with such a different recipe. There’s probably many out there. Always fun to experiment 🆒
Best tutorial ever! I love this piece so much just the way it is. It looks like a jellyfish. Hope you didn't paint over it! Thank you for sharing your work!
Hi there, both of your mixing videos contradict each other… Can you please clarify? In one you mention one part paint to two parts Floetrol and the second time you mention two parts paint to one part Floetrol… Really appreciate you sharing the videos and taking the time. Just wanting to make sure that we have the right information. 😊
Since you measure/weigh yeah flow trawl and pains, why don’t you weigh your pants after you or add we sat in them so that you can precisely guesstimate how much that you added and then wait again after you add your water to the correct consistency, and then you would have a numerical amount for your water as well. This just would be helpful for us as we cannot see the consistency on our end here. 11:26
I’m new to pearl painting and I must say your tutorials are amazing. Clear, precise instructions. Thank you. Can’t wait to do a Pearl painting.

I am wondering if the base paint recipe loses its effect after a while or must it be used immediately? Thank you for your response.
Well done.Thank you.🌈
Thank you too!
Wonderful!!
Thank you Astrid!

Great video. What exactly is Floetrol? And the satin - is that also water based?

@@MetaPours Thanks for the reply :)
Do you open your Liquitex and squirt the paint in the Floetrol or take the cap off? I tried taking the lid off and I wore my hot pink .
Thank u
You are very welcome Anne!
Nice big pearls. How do you limit so many?
Awesome tutorial. 👏👏👏💯
Like get fewer? I would mix my base coat a little bit thicker.
question please,, I only have Liquitex heavy gloss red label gel. Can it water it down and can I use it instead of the gray label? I only have the red label.
Can you use some other brand of white for the bas?
Can you do pearl painting with any kind of paint
Can you mix metallic and use it the same?

What size canvas did you use, and are the ounces the same as a regular pour ( using sq inches)
What color did you use in the first one .

What is a pearl base please?
Please make drip test,we dont see the consistency of the paint .
You stated first it was 2 parts paint to one of floetrol, this is the opposite
I was surprised when she said it, then did the norm.
