It was daunting at first, but since I've found your channel, you are my go to. Thank you for making learning Davinci easy and even fun(!). Far better than any other video out there. Seriously. THANK YOU for this video. I have been struggling with using the qualifier for months. You have added some light to this DEEP rabbit hole. PLEASE continue doing your superb videos for noobs.
I like how you explain what each tool does as you go. That's important because too many people just say "click here and click there" without saying why. But I am wondering, is it possible for AI to do this tedious chore for us? This seems like a perfect job for an AI engine.
Probably in some other intermediate software that rely on less functionality, but more push button features. Maybe CapCut…? DaVinci Resolve tends to be more of a pro level video editing software it does use AI for things like background removal and voice isolation but doesn’t try to make workflow programmatic
You are an excellent tutor Daniel! A small question. When I have two objects in a shot that i want to change the color from. Do I have to make two nodes? And can I copy the color settings from one node to another? Or is there another way? Regards, Frits
If you apply two windows to a single node, they won’t have independent control (as I showed in this video). So as long as you want the some color grading applied to both power windows, they can be in the same node. And yes, if you right click and set a node to “save as shared node”, you’ll see that as a node type when you go to add another node and you can add the exact same node in again
More tools unlocked for me thanks! I level up with each of your videos... What is your workflow or approach to the reflected light and keeping that in balance... should the arms also take on a bit of a hue change to match that shirt...?
It’s really dependent how n the footage and every clip will be different. I try to get it to the point that once it’s done, everything looks natural without things like someone skin looking ‘edited’.
Hi Daniel, Thanks so much for all your tutorials on DaVinci Resolve 👍 I use masks (free DVR 19.1 version) to make a title travel behind me. I put my dots with the pen tool, around my body and close the shape. Then I track my clip. Until now, no problem. Of course, I have to adjust the mask sometimes. When I move the blue dots, and try to be very precise, zooming into the picture, I get pink dots covering my blue dots. Or sometimes, I grab a handle, instead of the blue dot, and I get a curve on the adjacent line of the mask. How can I get rid off this pinky dots and handles? I understand that it could be the softening of the mask, but I don’t want this element at this time of operation. Thanks for your kind advice , All the best, knarf from France 🇨🇵 😊

Mr Daniel. Is there a way to easily get the color code from a particular item in footage. So if you wanted to change the color of another Item to the exact same color you can?
Lots of ways. One way is to bring a solid color into your timeline just after your clip. (Toolbox > Generators > Solid color) Make sure your play head is over the clip you want to sample from so it’s in the preview window. With the solid color block selected, go up to the upper right inspector and under the ‘Generator’ tab click ‘color’. It will open up a ‘select color’ pop-up window. Choose the ‘pick screen color’ option and place your cursor, which is now a + symbol, over your preview window and it will begin sampling colors from what it sees as well as generating an HTML color code in the select color pop-up window Hope that made sense!
Hey Dan, love your content it has helped me immensely! I’m working on a Warzone gameplay video in DaVinci Resolve and need some help with a specific effect. At the beginning of the game, I want to freeze the frame that shows me and my teammates, then highlight each operator one at a time (darkening the rest of the footage around each character) while I explain who they are. After highlighting all operators, I want to resume normal playback of the footage. Could you guide me on how to achieve this effect?

I film them on an iPhone 13 and I select 4k and 60 and I hold my phone vertically there for the video is vertical when you watch it. I can not for the life of me figure out the perfect settings to export it so I can upload them to instagram reel or tik tok and have the video fill up my whole screen (vertically) I was wondering if you could do a short or a quick video on the best way to do this while keeping the video in high quality. You want to spend time in the projects settings tab for any type of video edit to get high quality imaging. File > Project Settings > Master Settings. You can select "use vertical resolution" and keep the timeline resolution in UHD. Then make sure your export settings match the project. Yes, Magic Mask would aid in this process. As I stated at the very beginning of this video, I’m using the latest BETA version 19 of Resolve Studio. I also stated that I was going to show how to do this using features available to folks using either version. It's a tricky balance trying to cater to users of both versions, for sure.

Hmmm…. Right off the bat I’d check the data width and file codec. The free version only supports 8-bit H.264 and H.265. The Studio version doesn’t have those limitations. Make sure you didn’t film in 10 or 12 bit with an unsupported codec.

You’re not the first person to mention that. Although your system is on the lower resource end for HD editing, I think it actually might be a BETA issue. Watch for an update and see if anything gets better
Can we ask Blackmagic Design to stop using funky ass words in the resolve UI it actually hurts my brain haha Awesome video Daniel always wondered how some creators accomplished this effect 👍👍
Haha! Right?! I’m like, “Okay, you call it The Qualifier, but when I click on the plus option, you call that Picker Add… just call it a freakin’ Picker already!’
On my Davinci Resolve 19 free version in colour page Tracking Window is not functioning properly If I try to mask a video of 1 minitue and then click on track forward It does not track the 1 minitue full video 😢 its only tracks a portion of a video like 2 sec after then again if click on track forward it tracks another 2 second in a 1 minitue full video it does not track the full video in one go instead it stops several times in the middle of the video it also doesn't track the video forward and backward in one go it stops several times in the middle of the video like 2 sec and after then where it stops from there again click forward it stops again after playing 2-3 sec, Dan do you have any solution for this problem for this problem I can't remove any pesky watermarks from any video

Potentially! Depth Map really relies more on how close or far away an object is. This method relies more on the color of the object. So depending on your footage, one might give you better results than the other
I'm so tired of seeing DaVinci on my timeline. all these video editors on YT that were already unbearable to watch now won't stop praising DaVinci. they're obviously being paid too because there's no way these people can be sane and use a UI this awful while talking about it in good faith. not to mention the free version (and possibly the paid version) throws a fit when you import anything other than the 2 video codecs it can support. I'm tired of this. congrats on being an industry plant for the worst editing software ever created.
Wow, you’re pretty angry, huh? I am in no way affiliated with, sponsored by or otherwise endorsed or paid by Blackmagic Design or DaVinci Resolve. If you knew anything about me, you’d know exactly why I’m using the product… but you don’t. That would require you actually doing an ounce of research before making some broad sweeping statement about me with nothing to back it up. But what else would I expect from a paid Adobe plant. (See? I can do it too 😜)
@daniel_batal love your vids have helped me some but i was wondering could you do a vid using just the free version of davinci tesolve and we all know that when your trying to do extra thing the little thing pops and wants use to buy the studio version and not many people have $300 bucks to spare

Although your system is on the lower resource end for HD editing, I think it actually might be a BETA issue.
Watch for an update and see if anything gets better
Can we ask Blackmagic Design to stop using funky ass words in the resolve UI it actually hurts my brain haha
Awesome video Daniel always wondered how some creators accomplished this effect 👍👍
Haha! Right?!
I’m like, “Okay, you call it The Qualifier, but when I click on the plus option, you call that Picker Add… just call it a freakin’ Picker already!’
On my Davinci Resolve 19 free version in colour page Tracking Window is not functioning properly If I try to mask a video of 1 minitue and then click on track forward
It does not track the 1 minitue full video 😢 its only tracks a portion of a video like 2 sec after then again if click on track forward it tracks another 2 second in a 1 minitue full video it does not track the full video in one go instead it stops several times in the middle of the video it also doesn't track the video forward and backward in one go it stops several times in the middle of the video like 2 sec and after then where it stops from there again click forward it stops again after playing 2-3 sec,
Dan do you have any solution for this problem for this problem I can't remove any pesky watermarks from any video
Hmmm… it sounds like system resource lag.
What are your system specs?
I have running Davinci resolve 19 for 2 to 3 days but everything is working properly only in colour page that tracking window is disturbing
But there is no problem with my system
I have a laptop that has
1. Ryzen 7 6800H processor with Radeon
Graphics
2. 16 gb ram
3. 64-bit operating system, x64-based
processor
4. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 laptop GPU
I guess you achieve the same thing using Magic Mask or Depth Map
Potentially! Depth Map really relies more on how close or far away an object is.
This method relies more on the color of the object.
So depending on your footage, one might give you better results than the other
You NEED to make a Udemy class man.
I give it all away free here on RUclips 😀
👍
Brother are you from a biker club ?
thanks 😄
We ride.
No club affiliation.
Hope davinci resolve doesn’t become like filmora
That’s not their plan. They’re a hardware company first.
I wish the whole thing could be done with one click😁
you prolly can but you should learn the fundamentals first
Ha! Yeah.
Well the Studio version has Magic Mask 😷
..its not pink.. its salmon 😘
😅
But what else would I expect from a paid Adobe
plant.
(See? I can do it too 😜)
Very good Daniel and very well explained you make it look easy lol, Thank you,
I try to keep it simple 😁
@daniel_batal love your vids have helped me some but i was wondering could you do a vid using just the free version of davinci tesolve and we all know that when your trying to do extra thing the little thing pops and wants use to buy the studio version and not many people have $300 bucks to spare
All of this can be accomplished with the free version
When this man puts out a video, I pay attention. 🫡
And this man appreciates you for that! ☮️
