    Here's another way to handle a workaround. I create a RUclips template and put my compound clips in there media pool. I make sure all my settings, including export settings are all set up for my RUclips videos. Then, when starting a RUclips video edit, i open my RUclips template project, save as the name of my video, and then add my new clips to the media pool. This way my template stays the way it should be and all my videos made from that template are consistent. I create different templates for the different types of videos I make.

    Compound clips really help on the Cut screen. When using the cut screen, the upper timeline shows all video tracks stacked with no way to scale them. Your view screen just gets smaller and smaller the more tracks you add. Using compound clips enable you to get down to a reasonable number of tracks that don't take all your screen real estate.

    Coming over from Camtasia this is super familiar and reminds me of their grouping functionality. I feel like BM would want you to build this in fusion and have it track to that point.

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  5 месяцев назад +1

      You absolutely can build & track things like callouts in Fusion, it's built for that kind of thing... but as with everything Resolve, there is always more than one way to skin a proverbial cat.
      Compound clips don't just apply to callouts, you can combine anything on your timeline without having to go into Fusion.
      I think I would probably most accurately compare it to what Premiere Pro calls 'Nesting".
      Super helpful for complex projects. ☮️

    Awesome As always Dan!. Is story Blocks more intuiative that Motion array. I find it a little bit of a pain in the arse trying to get some of the templates to work, however I only have the free version of Davinci at the moment.. Not sure if that has any weighting. Also I'm really suprised how much it smashes my comp when playing back and renderring, even after I have cached everything dropped the play back res and put it into user mode.
    Derral eves mentions that people have goals when on their youtube journey and a student of his had the goal to learn under derral, I hope to have a one on one with you one day : ) I'm still relativley new but teaching English part time in Japan, so YT is pretty much full time as I do it in my "spare time as well"

    Hey Daniel, first thank you for responding to a previous question about the duration of a clip in the timeline !! While I am still learning about Resolve I have a problem with a drone video I just finished . My first one with Resolve. I have edited with CYBERLINK for the last 5 years. I have a powerful computer (windows 10) . I tried to add music to this 2-minute video and would not play when in the timeline. Actually, it starts normally for the first 3 to 4 seconds then it slows significantly down with heavy distortion. If I start in the middle of the song the same thing happens. The song (or any song ) plays perfectly in the preview window or in Fairlight but not in the timeline underneath the video. Is there a special setting that I miss? I tried to look in the Blackmagic forum for answers but it's very complicated ....I hope you find the time . Like I said before I'm new to DaVinci and watch all your videos to learn.

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  3 месяца назад

      My guess is the audio isn’t the issue.
      Sounds like your system is struggling to keep up with the video footage
      What happens when you eliminate the video from the timeline and leave audio only?

    • @RomeoView323
      @RomeoView323 3 месяца назад

      @@Daniel_Batal Thank you for getting back to me ! I will try that when I get back home this evening. Great suggestions, that will tell me if the video is the problem. I don’t think it will be.The video is playing normally while the audio , after about 3 seconds becomes distorted and slows down almost to a halt but still playing. Like I said I’m very new to Resolve and not know all the ideal settings. It could be some settings about proxies … in Cyberlink Power Director every clip you add in the Timeline starts to render within seconds for smooth video. I’ll find out more tonight…. Thank you for taking the time .

    • @RomeoView323
      @RomeoView323 2 месяца назад

      I did try your suggestion but with no luck .... First I disabled the video, then I created a new project and just placed the song in the Audio track in the timeline . Same problem ...I clicked on some features but still nothing .... then I removed the 3 songs from the media room and brought back just one song which plays normally in the preview window but now I can not place it in the timeline. I can't put any music in the audio track in the timeline. I drag the song from the media room to the timeline but it won't go in the audio spot .. I am not sure what I changed to cause that... I am giving up ...I don't want to spend $300 to get phone help from Blackmagic...not yet...I am happy with The PowerDirector from CYBERLINK (37 videos on RUclips ) . I would love to eventually switch to Resolve but it feels complicated.... If you could help I am ready to pay for your advice. I don't know if apps like AnyNet that connect computers remotely allow that. In any case thank you for even responding to this matter. I live in Hollywood .CA.

    Why were you callouts not done as one fusion clip or was tjis just do e as a way to explain compound clips?

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  5 месяцев назад +1

      This tutorial is about how to use compound clips. I could have just combined a text overlay and a video clip but how boring would that be?
      And I didn't create that callout, it was premade from Storyblocks that just so happened to use compound clips and I thought it would be a great use case.

    My dear Daniel, why dont you use fusion to make a callout so much easyer

      My dear Omega, nothing’s easier than downloading a premade template 😁

    Daniel Batal.. Every time I use DaVinci Resolve and try to add video transitions it only lets me do 1 or 2. Any more than that it pops up and says unknown tool or something like that and then says I have to upgrade to the paid version to use transitions. Have you heard of this problem and do you know how I can fix it?

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  5 месяцев назад +1

      Some of the transitions are not included in the Free version. So if you try to use one of the Studio transitions, it'll let you know that tranisition requires a license.

      @Daniel_Batal  4 месяца назад

      I'm not exactly sure I understand the question but from what you've told me, I would recommend making sure all of your sizing is determined before diving into deeper editing processes.

    • @jer3006
      @jer3006 Месяц назад

      @urwaeid319 If you create your Magic Mask in the Color page, then return to the Edit page, you will lose the mask if you further edit that clip using any Transform types of edits such as resizing, etc. Magic Masks made in the Color page are permanent only if you don't edit that masked clip again. Magic Masks made in the Fusion page are fully permanent so, if you return to the Edit page, then further edit that clip with a Transform type of edit, the Magic Mask will not disappear. This is another case of different implementations of a feature on different Resolve sub-pages. This is true in version 18 but I do not know if it will be fixed in ver 19, now in beta.

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  4 месяца назад +1

      Hard to say why that might be with that little information.
      - Make sure you're running the latest version of Resolve (18.6)
      - Make sure your OS is completely up to date (most people skip this part and it's the most important)
      - Make sure your system meets or exceeds the recommended, not minimum, system requirements--> motionarray.com/learn/davinci-resolve/davinci-resolve-system-requirements/

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  4 месяца назад +1

      If you've completely ruled out any possible systems issues, it has to be a user error.
      Make sure you have a viewable Fusion clip selected.
      Make sure you have your Media1out connected.
      Swap to single preview screen view instead of side by side.
      Make sure you have your foreground layering in proper order so that your background isn't attached to a foreground node input.
