    Daniel, we all really appreciate your lessons. Yes, I've learned about Magic Mask but no one starts Alpha'ing. They all show us to apply alpha last. And no one spends serious time teaching the quality controls. This is a great lesson for sure. Oh, and lastly, Daniel, I really really like how you magnify and zoom into the very specific controls on the DaVinci parts. Just awesome. Keep up the fabulous work!!!

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  4 дня назад

      Yeah, definitely. You could just manually mask out the PIP portion and replace the main image. You could do that in Fusion with a polygon or Bspline mask or in the Color Page with a power window and and alpha (transparent) output.
      This video shows it with an image but the same process will work. You don't need to hand draw the mask, using a square power window might work---> ruclips.net/user/shorts8f9o7-JEmMs?si=2At-kYdmon2Vq15I

    You are a FANTASTIC teacher. Really well done. But I am just curious what can be done with a video such as yourself in this video. You have curly hair with a background of a similar color. Do you think you could make a decent mask of yourself and make it so that the background would be replaced properly in area where we can see "through" your hair? If so, that would be a KILLER mask. Thanks.

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  5 месяцев назад

      That’s a great question. I typically will put myself in front of a green screen or a color that’s more easily keyed out just because of the curls in my hair and the amount of background that can potentially show through.
      I thought you were going to point out how out of focus my camera was on this video! 😅
      For some reason, my auto focus decided to choose my hands as a fixed point and I didn’t notice it until I was just about ready to edit.

      magic mask is good for the quick and well prepped footage. hair is always the trickiest and most people have spent years becoming good at it. on typical non green screened footage youre gonna have to dive into fusion. it has very very good tools for this and quite a few keying techniques

    Magic mask is unreliable in the colour page if you alter any part of the image back in the edit page. The mask breaks down. It seems best to use it in fusion.
    The other aspect is you really need strong contrasting and bright colours for magic mask to work well with a moving image. I have found it doesn't work so well in mid to low lit scenes.

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I explained a lot of that in the video.
      I haven’t had the Edit Page issue you’re referring to. I wonder if it’s a system resource issue?

    • @jer3006
      @jer3006 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Daniel_Batal No, it is not a system resource problem and I have also commented to some of your videos about this issue. If you take a color page Magic Mask back to the Edit page, then decide to use the Inspector to Transform-adjust anything in that clip, the mask will often just disappear. Then you have to go back to the Color page and recreate it. OTOH, if you create the Magic Mask on the Fusion page and return to the Edit page, further Transform adjustments do not delete the mask. When it first happened to me, it was more than annoying, so I searched on the issue, and found YT content creators who have discussed it.

Fusio can be your best friend and its no as hard to learn as people think. just take it slow and easy and dont move on until you full understand the basics. Casey faris has great beginners fusion tutorials. and magic mask also has "object" masks.

Is there any differences in quality when you use MM in the free version vs the studio version? • @Daniel_Batal

      You control the track assignments.
      Upload into your media pool, create tracks by right clicking on an existing track control region and choosing “Add Track”, then decide what goes into each.
      Another easy starting point is when you created your first track and have one piece of footage in it, left click on that video clip in your timeline and drag upwards.
      It’ll move it into a new track and leave an open track below it.
      Once you have a few tracks going, right clicking in the far left control section of each track will allow you to add tracks above and below.

    Hi Daniel. I switched to DaVinci, i rly like it, but there are one thing what is make me crazy, maybe because I'm not experinced enough.
    When I'm trying to move clips on all tracks on timeline with "swap clips"(ctrl+shift+,) method, clips on all tracks (except track 1) are overwriting them selfs. To avoid this this I need to link all of them, split them and only after that I can move them with "swap clips" method. Is there any way to move clips on different tracks without doing all of this steps?

    • @Daniel_Batal
      @Daniel_Batal  5 месяцев назад +1

      Couple of ways. One of the easiest is clicking the “lock all tracks” option just under the preview window then just unlocking the track you want to work with.
      The reason some functionality affects more than one track is that the Auto Track Selector for each track is usually on by default.
      You can turn those off o the left side of each track

      I run a 4090 and even then, with a heavy load 4K project I find some issues with version 19.
      Typically it ends of being a resource demand issue with tracking masks because you’re asking the software to do a lot and Resolve is a resource hog, for sure. Aw shucks! GPU error 5. I guess that $700 I spent on a 12GB GPU wasn't enough 🤪 I'll try again on my work computer, thanks! This looks easy!

      Hmmm…. That’s usually a comparability error. Meaning, the software and your GPU aren’t talking well.
      Definitely start by updating to the latest drivers from the website of whichever manufacturer built your graphics card.
      Which version of Resolve are you using?
      (Keep in mind, the free version doesn’t support GPU acceleration)

      @@Daniel_Batal I'm using the studio version 19 beta. I'm going to try again in my other studio. I have a Core I9 HP Omen with a $3K card there.

      Yeah, you shouldn't be having any issues with compatibility. It's gotta be something not up to date, either the drivers or the OS. Let me know how this works out for you or if it keeps persisting.
