The best new feature of DaVinci Resolve for the last year, is the Team 2 Films RUclips channel, explaining the new features, in such a clear and understandable language. Best of all, it doesn't matter who of you, doing the presentation! Blackmagic would be crazy not to use you guys in the future at some point, to make a few of their future training videos!
Thanks everyone. We appreciate your support and kind words and are happy that people are finding our videos helpful. Keep on making awesome videos everyone and thanks for watching.
100% You guys make these Resolve features so easy to grasp. Reading the manual without examples that highlight the utility of features is more time consuming. Thanks! Also, for anyone considering the course, I've been using Resolve for about 4 years and have learned a lot on my own and watching RUclips tutorials. I still bought the course because of the quality of their videos and in oder to learn hidden gems and new ways of getting things done that I hadn't thought about or come across. It's definitely been worth it. It's nice that I know most of it and can just watch without doing the exercises (which saves me time), but then those hidden gems come along and I'm so glad I purchased this. @team2films Looking forward to the Fusion course!
What a wonderful presentation! I love the fact that you speak so quietly, calmly, clearly and slowly. Everyone on RUclips these days seems to shout. And thanks for putting in chapters.
Terrific rundown -- it clearly shows that the BMD Dev Team has been listening to all the suggestions on the various forums. 19.1 has a TON of new features and improvements.
Thanks Marc. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a kind comment. The dev team does a stellar job. @MrAlexTech and @PatrickSterling have great videos out on 19.1 too.
T2F your work is soo detailed and clean. Every small detail is taken care like camera qaulity ( saw first channel to upload editing tutorials in 8k ), camera angles , light setup, audio. Your work is really appreciated.
Thank-you so much. We appreciate you taking the time to leave such a kind comment. By the way, we produce our work in UHD, but then upscale to 8k before upload... the reason is that RUclips seems to use a better quality transcode. We were seeing artefacts on our screen recordings when we were uploading at UHD, but the 8k transcode pipeline doesn't produce the same artefacts.
13:28 That is amazing! I don't use AVID, however the AVID editing methodology is amazing! So much so that I have changed my short cuts to be as close to AVID as possible. The only problem is that Enabling and Disabling all tracks like you could in AVID was impossible in DaVInci, you could only do Video or Audio tracks separately. This one little feature now brings the functionality one step closer to AVID like editing. Thank you BMD!
Holy moly many of these are revolutionary. Batch exporting! Dual screen resizing! Timeline pasting at playhead! Thanks for highlighting these changes, as I likely would have not have noticed.
Resolve continues to amaze me. I will never have the time to explore everything, but the ability to create pretty much anything I will need in the future fills me with such glee.
Wonderful, at 14.08 to change sensitvity of adjustments. Had actually requested that when updating to Studio version a few months back as use a lot of fine adjusments. Great presentation, clear and concise.
1 minute in and I'm overjoyed to learn that any music selects I download into a specific folder, will just magically appear in Resolve. Such a great, tiny little timesaver!
SOO much good stuff. LOVE that they added that additional node stack AFTER timeline. Its very nuanced but perfect for highly specific adjustments that need to be at the end the order of operations. Think QC fixes and similar.

At first I thought this would be a minor update that didn’t really have anything interesting, but this update finally fixed one of my long standing issues with Resolve. Being able to select the source audio channel of an audio clip in the timeline is so huge for me. There are so many times where I’m unsure if the Lav or boom has the best audio, and switching like this is going to save a lot of time while keeping the timeline itself as clean as possible. Not only did they fix it, but by having it as just a CMD + click away makes it easier than in Final Cut and probably even easier than the lesser known Rio Craft. A lot of the other things are also great, but that one change is huge for me.
Yeah, that's such a nice feature. Small improvements that remove friction from the creative process are very welcome. Glad to see them. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The only thing I really miss is an option to adjust the UI for "Social Media Content" in DaVinci. In Premiere, you can decide on window sizes yourself-although I don’t really miss that in DaVinci. However, I’d appreciate an optimized UI that makes better use of space when working on 9:16 videos. Still, the 19.1 updates are really good.
Really surprised they didn't make this an option. For those used to in-point dictating the paste location this will be a hard pill to swallow. Notice in the demo that pasting also removes the in/out definition (it's sort of like a paste does an ALT-X followed by paste to playhead position).
holy cow, the defaults for qualifier means so much to me haha. I exclusively use 3D as it has all the models anyway and only need qualification for really specific areas. thanks for the great overview of all the new features. wouldn't have looked for them otherwise.
Excellent demonstration...Thank u♥...1.Timeline as source workflow does not allow u to inset portion of the video int he same timeline and 2. can i use date as a expression in the delivery page? i didn't find it
Oh cool, downloading it right now. The Ducker was pretty much useless to me up to this point, since it only worked on a single track. In the manual it says we can route audio buses into the Ducker, but in my experience it's not true 🤔
I was hoping for bus support in the ducker - that would have been better than support for multiple source channels (or at least more flexible). Still, this is a great improvement.
@@TheRealBarkinMadd Yeah, that sounds reasonable. There's probably some underlying limitation with the audio processing under the hood. Probably order of operations or something.
I don't normally leave comments but this was such a great presentation, both visually and audibly. I need to give credit where credit is due. Fantastic video presentation!
It would be great to actually use the search in effects always to be set to ALL FOLDERS, instead every time you open up the effects in edit page being set to current folder only.
to reset the color node color after changes, just right click the node, and select node color... "clear color". Ill be using the Post group Node stack for my looks and ODT for now... easy enough to ripple and this opens up groups for scenes.
That's a fantastic use for the post group node stack layer. Regarding clearing colors on the nodes, yes we know you can do it for nodes individually. We'd love to see a 'reset all node colors' feature. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
@ gotcha .. the other issue with the node colors I’m seeing, is that newly created nodes are automatically colored, and not the default color … So if you pick orange … and then load a power grade… all the nodes are orange from the start …
Nice! You've obviously put a lot of effort into this. Still a long way to go on ui customisation with choosing your own layouts. I'd especially like to see options to bring inspector controls closer to the timeline and maybe some user definable presets or macros to avoid having to drag the mouse up and down to the inspector for repetitive operations. I like the idea of being able to select the preset by a dropdown on the timeline like they have for the sound source selection or they could implement 'memory dots' like some other programs do.
I mean, I just watched your beginners' tutorial, and then opened DaVinci Resolve to look closer, and was asked to upgrade. Upgraded, then came back to this video! Hahah
Wish it rendered the audio in place with the video when you do Render in Place, it saves space when archiving projects with huge source files to just keep the bits that were used.

videos like this should be the standard for software companies...Bravo! So gooooooood !!! No nonsense, and to the point without the useless off they go on a tangent blah blah blah blah.
Is a big step forward but one feature im not happy with since it was announced is the ducking in edit page, the one in fairlight page should be upgraded for easy usability.
So, pasting at playhead took 19.1 versions to implement.😊 Too bad I have ongoing projects and can't make use of this extraordinary feature and still have to struggle with whereever Resolve feels like pasting clips onto the timeline.
@@team2films You've nailed it! The energy I feel coming from this video is the same energy a child has when he knows he's getting a new present haha. Which I'm sure is exactly how everyone else feels when a new DaVinci update comes out :)
i know at least 2 things that are frustrating for alot of people in Davinci Resolve but they do not change it for years. For example, no way to separate clips snapping on timeline and snapping of the playhead. from my perspective premiere pro done it really well. And second thing is there is no way to set source clip time either timecode or just start from 0 sec. if you got a timecode in metadata of your source you cannot change it to just start from 0 sec
Can you sync multiple audio files to a single video, in my case my mic auto splits the files so multiple audio files apply to a single video clip? Thanks, enjoying your videos.
@@team2films For example in premiere or FCP there is no need to trim/extend clips to place transition in between them but in davinci its not the same in all cases ?
@@vinodhvarma6075 All clips require handles to apply a transition. So if a clip doesn't have enough handles, you will need to make a trim. Perhaps FCP is automatically trimming the clips, either way they still need to be trimmed?
@@team2films Yes trimming is not a problem. (I haven't mentioned it property , sorry for that) I am talking about trimming manually vs Automatic trimming. Is there any update in DaVinci for automatic trimming while placing transition ?
Great overview of the new features! DR is only getting better ❤ I wish in the future there is a way for media resync to work both ways (with the ability to toggle this on or off), for example when deleting a file from the media pool the file to be deleted from the respective system folder. Everytime i finish a project i have to manually find all the clips i didnt use and delete them 😢
Dear T2F, I finally gave in and got DR19 Studio version with great Black Friday discount. One of few reason for getting is new NR feature but I am not too impressed yet. Would you do a video on how to optimize "UltraNR" .. learned about moving the box or size to pick the "best area" to use as a base. I am not sure if there other setting I can tweak to optimize denoise without losing too much detail.
Great to see a video so soon! 'Automatically create new tracks on Edit' - seems to make no difference when using F10/Overwrite, it still creates new unwanted tracks? Am I doing this wrong?
Thanks so much for watching! Hmmm. It seems to work for us. Overwrite respects that option. Maybe you might have footage that causes issues that ours doesn't though? Could be worth investigating.
if 4 tracks (for example) already exist in the timeline because you already imported some footage (with 4 audio tracks) into the timeline, switching the setting won't magically make the additional footage get rid of most tracks and keep only one if it detects already created audio tracks (existing empty lanes). I recommend you to open a brand new, empty timeline and switch the setting before you insert anything into it.
Yes, this! Remembering the app's window size and position is a basic feature that almost all Windows apps have had for years. My main monitor is large enough that I usually don't run it full screen, but every time I start the program I have to hit the restore button and adjust the window size. Should be such an easy fix, and after having done it a few thousand times now it's become pretty annoying.
I'm new to DaVinci. Where in the function to select multi track but where can I find the instructions to create a multi track clip for example 4ch mono from an mxf clip?

Yeah, for sure! Fixing those small annoyances makes such a big difference. We appreciate you watching and talking the time to comment. Thank-you. Keep up the awesome work with the videos on your channel!
The best video for the new 19.1
That's kind of you to say. Thank-you
videos like this should be the standard for software companies...Bravo! So gooooooood !!! No nonsense, and to the point without the useless off they go on a tangent blah blah blah blah.
Thank-you so much! We appreciate your kind complements. We try to keep the 'blah blah' to a minimum 🤣
Is a big step forward but one feature im not happy with since it was announced is the ducking in edit page, the one in fairlight page should be upgraded for easy usability.
Yeah, we'd like to see bus support for the ducker. We hope there will be future developments... sometimes these improvements come incrementally.
great video! thanks so much
You are welcome.
So, pasting at playhead took 19.1 versions to implement.😊 Too bad I have ongoing projects and can't make use of this extraordinary feature and still have to struggle with whereever Resolve feels like pasting clips onto the timeline.
Love your enthusiasm!
Thanks! We try ☺️
@@team2films You've nailed it! The energy I feel coming from this video is the same energy a child has when he knows he's getting a new present haha. Which I'm sure is exactly how everyone else feels when a new DaVinci update comes out :)
@@DeejayJeanP Present energy 😆 Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a kind comment. It's appreciated.
@@team2films No worries at all! :)
Thanks guys!
You are welcome
i know at least 2 things that are frustrating for alot of people in Davinci Resolve but they do not change it for years.
Very nice explanation.
"Applying transitions without trimming clips " is there any something like this in 19.1 update ?
Are you talking about it synthesising handles on a clip with no handles so a transition can be added?
@@team2films For example in premiere or FCP there is no need to trim/extend clips to place transition in between them but in davinci its not the same in all cases ?
@@vinodhvarma6075 All clips require handles to apply a transition. So if a clip doesn't have enough handles, you will need to make a trim. Perhaps FCP is automatically trimming the clips, either way they still need to be trimmed?
@@team2films Yes trimming is not a problem. (I haven't mentioned it property , sorry for that)
I am talking about trimming manually vs Automatic trimming. Is there any update in DaVinci for automatic trimming while placing transition ?
Good presentation!
that selective audio feature is a god send. no more going into clip attributes!
It's the small things right!
Hey it’s the star from “Best-men” a film shot in Novato 😂😂😂 Hello!
Well hello 👋
Thank you for the review 🙏
Great video!
Great overview of the new features! DR is only getting better ❤ I wish in the future there is a way for media resync to work both ways (with the ability to toggle this on or off), for example when deleting a file from the media pool the file to be deleted from the respective system folder. Everytime i finish a project i have to manually find all the clips i didnt use and delete them 😢
Oooo, that's an interesting idea. Could be dangerous though! Hehehe. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
Thanks for interesting content to watch and to learn. Kudos for you :)
Thanks!
Thank you for making all these videos. Keep it up.
Thank you so much! Appreciate having you here.
Heya Dan! We'll add it to the list for a future video. Can I just check, have you seen our existing video on noise reduction?
@ I have on new version 19. it seems to be more brief overall benefits of 19 but not full tutorial. thanks for a quick reply

Excellent and well executed Davinci Resolve update video... ❤
Thanks so much Keith. Good to have you here.
I love the last one... too bad that even in v. 19.1 DVR doesn't remember the main window size and always starts in full screen !
Sorry. It's always worth posting problems/suggestions like that in the forums.
Thank you for sharing.
I'm new to DaVinci. Where in the function to select multi track but where can I find the instructions to create a multi track clip for example 4ch mono from an mxf clip?
awesome new features and explanation of each one. Thanks SUBSCRIBED ✅
Welcome, it's great to have you here.
I just couldn't resist to say this, deyyyym your face is so beautiful!
Thanks
oh man totally missed that click-drag option for those track controls!
We missed out the Fusion updates on this video. So glad you've covered them so well in yours. Everyone go watch Patrick's video!
thanks for the great video! beautiful colors aswell! which camera did you use?
Thanks so much. This was shot on the blackmagic PYXIS.
@ pyxis… good to hear!
My favorite Resolve teacher. Please, are you having a Bkack Friday sale for your Davinci Course? If so, how much will it cost.? Thank you
Yes there will be a Black Friday sale. Are you on the mailing list?
Does autmatic resync bin work on Powerbins as well? If so that's gonna be so useful
LOL, what do you even mean by that? How would it make sense for powerbins?
Hmm, good question. Not tried that yet, so we're not sure.
