I'm continuously blown away by how powerful Resolve is. Feels like every couple weeks I learn about a new feature and say to my self "WOW that's incredible".
We're a two person studio who's shot professionally for over 30 years. Budgets are always tight and we need the biggest bang for our $$$. The studio version has been one of our smartest software purchases every. 4 highly professional and capable apps integrated seamlessly into one round trip. No leaving the app at all. If your a small studio we recommend purchasing some piece of BM hardware and getting the studio version "free". We have the speed editor. For you "cheapskates" (like me) just do the math and you'll see.
Great video, thank you! 01:26 It’s worth mentioning that the Dialogue Separator feature isn’t easy to find. You need to click on the audio track itself (on the left side, where you can change the audio name or mute the track, etc.), and then the option for the Dialogue Separator will appear. It’s a bit of a hidden feature, which can be annoying.
Thanks so much. Yes sorry we could have mentioned that more specifically that it is a track effect not a clip effect. We appreciate you watching and commenting.
Blackmagic never disappoints. No, they don't get everything right (who possibly could!) but with every release, they seem to aim for being the most useful progressive solution. I love it when a new version comes out. It is really exciting!
Yeah, they really knock it out of the park and it’s realistic to acknowledge that it’s difficult to nail everything. Thanks for watching and commenting

An excellent overview of new features. I have one unresolved question: starting with Beta 1 DaVinci 19, the timeline slows down and when moving a large number of sliced parts of clips, when mounting a podcast, the timeline freezes for 5 seconds and when moving it is not visible where the clips are docked. This problem is on the company's website from the user. Why haven't we solved this important feature yet. Now this is a problem when cutting clips. It also manifests itself when copying clips and pasting them to a new location on the timeline Confirm or deny this. A very important point. Thanks
Hello, sorry, we've not experienced that issue :( If you can share a method of recreating the issue in the forums, that's super helpful for the devs. Thanks for watching. appreciate your kind comment.
Great video making me realize how much I don't know about DaVinci Resolve. 😂😂 Don't even need to honestly I'll never be that deep into editing personally.😊
Good video. Question - about the defocus BG feature. It seems to me using the Depthmap node+blur seems to be easier as that doesn't require creating Magic Mask explicitly and can adjust the depth for different degree of focus. What do you think?
Thank you very much for a concise video about all new features! 👍 I can't wait to use them in new projects once I update. But before I update from Resolve Studio 18.6.6, could you please advise if I need to deactivate the license key and uninstall the old version and then do the clean install? Some say I can run the install over the old version but it can cause bugs and crashes in the new one if some files in the old version are not uninstalled properly. I will do project and library back ups before it of course.
No need to uninstall the old version. You can just install the new version :) Like you said though, it's a great idea to run backups beforehand. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy version 19!
I would love for Resolve to allow some Logic Pro type vibes in the fairlight window. Midi piano and VSTs, AUs and some proper audio editing for podcasts or voice overs all within resolve.
In some video you promised a tutorial on Ambisonics in Resolve 19, any chance of that coming? Taking eg a video from X3/X4 and combining with H2N spatial audio?
Great breakdown. Weirdly, my Davinci only just upgraded to 19 (which I didn't know existed) today. Out of the blue and on it's own over lunch when I wasn't looking. lol. Great news, after watching this - basically none of it benefits me, because it's almost all only for Studio version. 😒
That's such a great topic. We've already started a script on the topic but were waiting to get the right hardware to demonstrate it. It's definitely coming at some point, thanks so much for the suggestion and for watching our videos.
The Slice tool (substractive color) is it really different (or the same ?) as adding color in HSV when H & V is disabled ? or adding gain or the wheels when AT THE SAME TIME substracting .Luminance ? Very good content as usual btw ;)
It’s the same math. But the color slice tool gives you vectors and more controls like biasing density towards shadows or highlights... You don’t get that using the HSV method. Does that make sense? Thanks so much for watching.
I can't check right now because Resolve is rendering... but I think you can keyframe it in the Fairlight page. It's a track effect, so you need to enable the automation controls.
Does Fairlight have the track automatic scroll sync for multiscreen feature which is when we click on e.g track number 30 on the main screen and the secondary screen should automatically scroll highlight to the same track? Or there is the thing that I might miss out?
i use a dctl by Stefan ringelsch to do what the colour slice does as the other native controls solo dont give as natural results, but this looks like it adjusts other sat and density levels simultaneously to look more natural at least... but glad i never got the expensive dehancer as this film emulation looks like it does the same
yes, some things are easy, but it is difficult to adjust according to the tempo of a music clip. in the premier pro, you separate these very simple clips and you can throw them to markers
Hello, thanks so much for watching. What feature from Premiere are you talking about? There’s great techniques for cutting music. Have you seen our music editing video on RUclips? Search our catalog and you will find it.
The features are simply amazing. I may have to start the switch from FCPX. I'm concerned that setting up keyboard shortcuts will be difficult, because each page has different keyboard shortcuts... it's very complicated. I also previously expressed concerns regarding the efficiency of speed ramping. I still think FCPX is superior in that regard.

Good evening! Could you please help me understand why, in DaVinci 19 when I add new titles to the timeline, I only get a black screen? They don’t display in real time and don’t appear on the timeline after being added. The same issue occurs with generators 🙁 All new titles and generators are not working.
I can't get on board with Resolves way of project management in a database. I want to have every project and it's associated files within a folder so I can transport, copy and back it all up. I don't want projects reliant on a database.

Hi. What can I do to solve the gamma issue specific to the Mac version of DaVinci Resolve? How should the color management be set? Is setting it to REC709-A sufficient? What are the correct settings?
Hello! Thanks for watching. The short answer… It’s not something you can complexly fix. It’s also not a Resolve problem nor is it a ‘Mac version of DaVinci Resolve Problem’. Different programs will display videos differently just the same as different TVs will look different. There are colour critical devices and programs. QuickTime is not one of them.

nice updates but will we EVER get simple rulers in Davinci? I find it amazing that its still not a feature - as far as I know
from 1:25 talking about voice control, how come the items listed there are different from mine? ( Studio edition build 70, MacOS). Mine are (From top to bottom): Volume, Pan, Voice isolation, Dialogue Leveler, Music Remixer, Pitch, Speed change, Equalizer. And that is all.
I've just started using Davinci resolve 19 after a decade + of using Vegas. Vegas 17 has just been crashing & crashing, dont think it likes Windows 11 😡 Davinci is a bit of a learning curve, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon 🤞 a lot more tutorial vids are in order 😉🤭

Thanks so much for watching. Yes, the key framing tools could do with some improvement, but they are still better than or as good as other NLEs like Premiere. What features are you looking for that are currently missing?
@@team2films thanks for the reply. However, I strongly disagree on keyframe implementation being as good as the tools other NLE's provide. In fact I haven't seen any software that uses keyframes that implemented it this poorly. I could reply as to how it would be better but I already made a thread on the forum with suggestions (to which a lot of ppl agreed) a couple of years ago and it's too much to write again here. You can find it on the forum if you search for threads by username (brechtboelens), if you're really interested 🙂 Cheers!
No color sampler tool with at least 10 control points so we can color by the RGB LAB or CYMK numbers like photoshop? I don't like color correcting by scopes I do it by the numbers.
Hello, we’re not too sure what you are saying. It’s possible to show the RGB values of pixels using a colour dropper. Also scopes show numbers. It’s great to have you here, can you be a little more specific? Then maybe we can help.
@@team2films You have to be a photoshop user to understand. If you're I n photoshop you can have up to 10 points on the screen that tells the actual color of the pixels in the color space you want. So to can know what's going on in the skin tones, quarter tones, highlights shadows. Very helpful because the numbers give away the slightest hints of the wrong color which can ruin you work. And giving the perfect nu7mbers can make your work POP. .Doing it with scopes to me is asinine.Which me you're doing it by eye. And if you're NOT in a grey room you're prolly gonna mess it up due to simultaneous contrast and chromatic adaptation. You can help me by telling blackmajic to include those control points with the other colorspace valuess in the next version

Can I open Davinci 19 projects with version 18?… in the beta version this was not possible. Forme important when you work together with other editors which might use 18
No sorry, you can't. Resolve 19 projects have to support features that don't exist on version 18, hence they are not backwards compatible. Ideally your other editors should upgrade. There's very few reasons not to!
The problem with this version (I am on 19.01 studio) is that render times are very and I mean a lot slower than 18.6. I would not recommend that 19th version , at least not yet
Sorry about that. Are you windows or Mac? If windows, you might need to update your GPU drivers. If you're having speed issues, that's a great thing to report on the official forums (if you havn't already). You might get some helpful advice on there.
@@team2films I am on windows. I have a NVIDIA 3090 that was very fast on version 18.6. I see the worst results when I apply NEAT Video. This plugin is now so slow that it is impossible to work with so I am staying with Davinci NR . Hope they fix this.
I downloaded Studio 19, I open it up and it says Studio 19 on the spashscreen and in the corner. But i can't see any of the new features and voice isolation is gone?

It's out, check out the doc mentioned at the end if you want to know whether there will be differences on your iPad.
title should be studio upgrade as mostly all significant features are for studio version. not resolve 19. although thanks for including small tiny bottom right text in thin font to at least inform that this particular feature set requires studio mode that was helpful .
nice updates but will we EVER get simple rulers in Davinci? I find it amazing that its still not a feature - as far as I know
Rulers for the Fusion page?
@@team2films for the edit page, is there one for fusion? you can set them up by percentage in PP or put them wherever you want them
@@team2films maybe “guide” is a better way to put it
Ah yes, there are guides that you can turn on. There is a menu above the viewer for configuring them on the edit page.
@@team2films I cant find them... where is the menu for configuring them?
Thank you!
You are welcome!
from 1:25 talking about voice control, how come the items listed there are different from mine? ( Studio edition build 70, MacOS). Mine are (From top to bottom): Volume, Pan, Voice isolation, Dialogue Leveler, Music Remixer, Pitch, Speed change, Equalizer. And that is all.
Dialogue leveller is a track based effect. You are looking at the clip effects in the inspector.
@@team2films Yeah found it by clicking on the audio track.:) Thank you sir.
What was that music on 9:37? Thanks!
I've just started using Davinci resolve 19 after a decade + of using Vegas. Vegas 17 has just been crashing & crashing, dont think it likes Windows 11 😡
Davinci is a bit of a learning curve, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon 🤞 a lot more tutorial vids are in order 😉🤭
Welcome, it's great to have you here. Have you seen our masterclass for beginners starting with DaVinci Resolve? ruclips.net/video/znBHzeXpsUw/видео.html
1:26 Are those Voice Isolation features available in free version?
No, sorry. Studio only
@@team2films Got it! Thank you for responding.
film editing Pro teacher?😂
Yes we love the team over at film editing pro. Chris is awesome.
might be a good idea to fix your subtitles when you speak about your sponsor name, so it says Audiio and not Audio
Some decent new audio features, but still no keyframe overhaul so... DR is still just a color grading tool for me (+ occasional Fusion).
You can find it on the forum if you search for threads by username (brechtboelens), if you're really interested 🙂
Cheers!
終於......等了好久😂😂
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!!
You're welcome!
Amazing
I really was hoping that music remix feature was going to be like the Adobe premiere remix 🥲 I still use premiere for that feature
Ah yeah, sorry! A lot of people have commented on that. Who knows, maybe that will be a future feature!
Can you tell me does DRL have something similar to PluralEyes? Basically i need to sync all my footage like 2 hrs of video with audio ? :) Thanks
Yes, it can sync based on waveforms. It can sync based on timecode too
@@team2films yes i know that but it's really tricky if i have 200 clips one on top of each other can i do it in some other way ? don't know if you understand me ....
Can we edit pro res raw files from Sony a7s3 and atomos ninja V in da Vinci resolve 19th version?
No sorry. No ProRes support yet.
@@team2films Thanks for the quick response.
Hi, how can I perform a back time edit in resolve 19?
Set an out point only on your source media, and then set an in and out point in your timeline.
@@team2films Thanks a million.
What page of the program are you look in?
Are these not features we've had throughout the last few beta versions of 19?
Yes, but they are out of beta now. A lot of people ignore the beta releases so this is new info for them and a roundup for people who’ve already used the beta. Thanks for watching
great
is both of you in relatioship?
Is married.
i paid $300 for DR16. got 17 free. got 18 free. cant wait to install 19 free.
so glad i left Adobe years ago!
It’s so awesome right!?
Unfortunately my Studio version started to crash doing only simple editing.
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear. Can you provide any more specific details?
Hi .. Hiw does Auddiio work with client work ? Say i have a client that need a Image Filme. For his Website or RUclips channel ?
Audiio gives you a license to use the media on behalf of your client, just the same as other library media sites. Does that answer your question?
Somewhat .. i know that with the license. But how does the client aplly it ?@@team2films
@@reedeema I'm so sorry, I'm not too sure what you mean. Where and how are they trying to 'apply' the license?
