I've been hoping for a while that Blackmagic would release an updated speed editor with content creators in mind, or just a jog wheel. Not all Davinci Resolve users are professional editors! 🙃
Chadwick, I bought Resolve because I was so in love with the company!! I'm a very loyal consumer that way. It was only when I purchased it that I realized (some of) the great extras it has. Now you've shown me some more! Thanks for your fantastic videos. I was a little worried about you there for a while - while you were away from YT. ;). Appreciate you!
The #1 reason to buy the Studio version is to both reward Blackmagicdesign for selling it with a one-time, perpetual license and to incentivize them to continue to do so into the future. This pricing model can change in a heartbeat, specifically, the heartbeat of BMD CEO Grant Petty. If something ever were to happen to Grant (God forbid!), it could change in ways that none of its users would be happy with. Every Davinci Resolve free user should set a goal to buy the Studio version as soon as they can afford it, whether they need the advanced features or not.
This is a great point - I should have put it in my top 10 - thank you for bringing this up - Blackmagic is a unique company in this regard. There has always been an ethos of empowering everyone with the best tools available and not trying to suck every last dollar out of the artist.
Being well over 70 I wish in some ways this workflow had been around 40 years ago.. I have been using Resolve for the past 18 months.. The fusion nodes were hard for me to get my head around but making more sense now, this is after years with AE. Carry on the good work my man.
That is so cool and encouraging to hear. I'm in my 40s and wish these tools were around when I started using a camera in middle school. I'm just thankful that creative limitations are removed for pretty much anyone nowadays.
Heck yeah - such a good deal. I almost put that on my list, but figured it might be too niche for new Resolve editors. Camera tracking for projection cleanup is awesome.
Bought it with the discount. Just started RUclips in October and have been using the free version of resolve. It really is fantastic software. Your editing tips have really helped me get a jump start - I'm working on my 6th long form video and should hit 7k subscribers around the time I post it.
Thanks for this!! My Adobe's yearly subscription ended today so this was the best news. I upgraded straight away! :) Now I'm starting to browse your great tutorials and tips to get on with Resolve. Especially Fusion is hard for me. So many years in After Effects...
Thats great to hear. I have a photo plan still with Adobe, but think when that lapses next year - I'll let that expire myself. Fusion VFX is my speciality, hopefully my Fusion playlist will have some tips for you.
@ I'm swapping Photoshop to Affinity Photo 2 and Lightroom to Darkroom/RAW Power (iPad). I'm not that heavy user with those apps. Still, Fusion will be my next conquer because VFX and motion graphics are my thing. :)
Hi Chadwick, I’ve been using the free version of DaVinci Resolve for a year because I’m really new to video editing. Ive been subscribed to your channel and a few other trainers for a year now. This is a hobby and after seeing some of your videos about noise reduction, Magic mask, text based editing, voice isolation and more of your top 10 reasons to buy a studio license.. I jumped bro and bought yesterday after you also saying that it was now $235.00 omg !! Wow 👍😊 I had a video with background noice of traffic in a busy downtown Bangkok street.. I decided to try this feature of Studio and I was amazed 😊🙏🏻 easy thanks for your videos and teaching me! Being a newbie studio version will help me more easily I feel. Keep up the gr8 work Chadwick! For an older wannabe creator I’m inspired by you and some of your fellow DaVinci Resolve RUclipsrs. Thx again for convincing me to invest in this amazing deal. Living here in Vietnam i didn’t see this Black Friday discount here so went online to Singapore 🇸🇬 and within a few hours had the key and serial number 😊🙏🏻 and now have tried some of these features you talked about Thank you, thank you
This comment just made my week. This means the world to me, and is why I love sharing the stuff I'm learning about. I'm stoked for you and what you will create. Thank you!
For years, it was a 1 time purchase with limitless updates, e.g. new major versions. This could change in the future, but for now, it's still like that.
I purchased Studio years ago for $295 with the Dongle and received the Speed Editor too. I never use it because I HATE the Usless CUT PAGE. OH the main reason was Back then only Studio had Video clean feed. I use 3 Screens A 60" UHDTV and a 48" UHDTV and the Laptop Screen.
Hi thank for all your works, i just purchase Studio today. One question which software do you use in your taskbar to show CPU and Temp of the processor. Thanks again
worked on a short that was filmed in a church hall, with a sennheiser shotgun mic, you can imagine the reflections bouncing around, put the voice isolation on, my goodness. It sounded like it was rrecorded in a soundbooth. Just added a tiny bit of reverb to bring some life back to the dialogue. They thought I was an audio genius. 😂
I bought it for $500 CAD and got the USB stick. Then I bought the editors keyboard. Now I have 2 seats AND the USB Stick to go anywhere. Still a better value than Premiere has ever been.
I noticed you have 2 licenses, and I was wondering if you’d consider selling one at a reduced price. It would make a huge difference for someone like me, as I’m unable to afford the full price. I’d greatly appreciate your kindness and understanding. Thank you 😊
@@Vanza143 I'm sorry, I won't be able to. One is on a physical usb stick and the other on my macbook. So I can't sell them. Is there a reason the free version isn't enough right now, so you can save for later? It's also on sale right now too.
No worries! I’ve been using Final Cut for two years at my office, but now I want to get my own setup specifically for personal use. I’m also considering switching to DaVinci Resolve.

I took advantage of the discount link and bought studio, finally. I’m just hoping my MacBook Pro M1 will handle it? I have an i9 iMac if not with 40Gb ram.
What if I have a macbook air M2? It's not really powerful enough to get all of the Davinci Resolve beauty to the test? I love that is on sale today and I wish I could buy it anyway. Thanks for sharing.
Resolve loves every bit of hardware it can take, but you can still get a lot done on a base models. Either way you can always take your free projects into the paid version at a later date.
Resolve Studio works fine on my Macbook Air M1 (albeit with 16GB RAM). Yes it’s slow when you add trickier effects like noise reduction or sharpening etc but for editing and colouring, it’s smooth as silk.
Noise Reduction was the Killer App feature that persuaded me to buy Resolve. But I only paid around £300 for it.😇 I am definitely going to look into Remote Monitoring. This may solve my problem of helping a mate grade his projects when he lives the other side of town.

Just bought it. Have been using VEGAS Pro for the last 4 years, which has worked for my channel's needs but I'm ready to step it up.
Very cool - I hope you find it really capable.

Is this a one-time fee for buying the software, or is it just for this version - with sub-upgrades until next new version?

I use the speed editor on the Edit page, not all functions work but quite a few do.
I picked up Davinci in 2019 for $420 AUD with a free speed editor! Awesome.
That was a great deal too!

you can move licenses, but only use 2 at once - its really intended for editors that have a laptop on the go and an office workstation that stays put.
