The Porsche is the ultimate. That's all their is too it. I've owned a ton of hot cars and nothing is as nice as my Porsche was. The 911 Turbo was not only the most comfortable car but it was the easiest to drive at the limits with 100% confidence. No other car even compares. Porsche rules. You could probably make a Vette faster if you spend the same amount on it but really it will still never be a Porsche no matter what you spend on it. A Porsche is like the perfect fitting gloves that are just perfect. It's the shiznits. If I were to buy another sports car it would be a Vette because of what you get for the money but still the Porsche is simply the nicest car in the world.
hdidane00 Right because a car that offers the most performance bang for your buck in the WORLD is not worth a mention..hmm. You're obviously just a biased little bitch and you sir, should not be talking about cars anymore. Sit down while I serve you.
Steven Walborn here we go again with the vettefagboys... who think they got someonething specially underneath their fat asses when in reality they got nothing but a piece of crap death cage horse n carriage.
Only thing is that the 911 isn't exactly the best looking car in the World. It has sort of morphed though over the years in terms of improving how it looks. How the car looks is important too, after all Subaru Sti is pretty quick but it's an ugly car
This was completely NOT a non-biased review in my opinion. From the beginning of the video it was obvious, but got worse. At 1:47 "You sort of expect Porsche to create a car like the 911 Turbo". The entire time the GTR was driven, it was time and time again stated how it wasn't as good as the Porsche or the Porsche did something better or "Just as good as the Porsche". Over and Over, but when the Porsche was driven, the GTR was never mentioned, good or bad and that is the car being compared. A GT3 was mentioned which isn't being compared. This video review is a complete fail to compare the two cars fairly. I refuse to believe that the GTR didn't have any good points over the Porsche. I like both cars, but I don't think this review was a fair review at all for both cars.
Saying the Porsche is better does NOT equal bias. Notice how he says, "you often forget just how capable the GT-R is" or something along those lines. He did not dismiss the GT-R until he has actually driven both cars, hence minimal bias (cause let's be honest, it's IMPOSSIBLE to have zero bias).
I drove the old Turbo S and the Old GTR back to back on a track, and the Porsche was a lot more enjoyable. In addition to being faster, it was just more engaging to drive, less like a video game, and more like a car.
Hmmm, google Bruno Senna doing the same test and see what he made of them. I've done this too and choose to have a GTR, I'd have a GT3 pork instead of the turbo for track use.
Thank You Auto Express, so many car review channels just do not understand that their key demographic is auto enthusiasts. You have a great mixture of track and real road time behind the wheel. your testers do a great job describing their impressions of each car's driving experience, over\understeer, weight transfer, etc. You deliver the relevant info such as torque, horsepower, price and so forth without droning on about things we don't care about. Most importantly, unlike other supposed enthusiast channels you don't play loud music (usually of the generic guitar variety) over top of exhaust notes. I truly appreciate that as I'm sure many other true enthusiast do as well. Thank You Again!
YOu know what happens with the GT-R when you drive on the track? You drive one lap quickly, next lap tires start overheating, so you're slower, then brakes start overheating and you're even slower, and then finally after some 4-5 laps engine overheats and drops down the rev limiter and max. power so that it wont blow apart. You dont believe me? Go find the JAPANESE car shows, where real RACING DRIVERS test cars on japanese race tracks and race them against each other for several laps. YOu can find them on bestmotoring channel on youtube...in each and every GTR test you will see Japanese race drivers saying its not as good and as fast as Lamborghini Gallardo, or 458, or 911 Turbo, or whartever european car they tested it against. Basically, they said multiple times that GT-R is a HOT LAP CAR, capable of doing a few fast laps, then starts dropping down. While european supercars can be driven all day long and won't cough.
I am really interesting in it. I would like to see this video. Can you send me url? I really want to find info about one lap time vs many laps time, car tires and car durability.
Couldn't agree more, this is common knowledge for anyone that actually does track driving. A big heavy car, which the GTR undeniably is will work the tires and brakes very very hard, especially true for an amateur driver that doesn't know how to be smooth and the truth is 95% of the ppl showing up to track days are amateurs. The other truth is that the vast majority of youtube and internet racers commenting here have never been to the track, so when it comes to real world experience with the GTR or any other heavy GT car, track tire use, and fading, overheating, or even ruined brake rotors these internet racers know not one fuck what they are talking about.
That is nonsense derbig have you owned or driven either? The GTR is nowhere near as fragile as you are suggesting. Porker Turbo S is a great car but does get kicked squarely in the nuts (quote by CAR mag thx) by the GTR...especially for performance/value stock for stock. A lightly modded GTR (putting bits on that you pay fortunes for in the Pork - ie brakes) will eat the pork for less than the price of a Carrera S. There is more room in the GTR inc boot. It's not as low rent as people say either, We've got pork as well and up to 991 spec it's not massively better. However the pork is without doubt more a Daily Driver mainly because of size etc as long as you don't need the space inside or boot.
Lesley Wilson BTW the MY08/9 models were/are less tolerant of multiple laps re transmission temp and brakes - we're talking now about MY13 models vs the pork. A fact which has taken pork 5 years of development to just get close is amazing for the GTR ...and the Nismo will kill all the pork variants too.
In my opinion I find Porsche is far more dependable then Nissan. I would feel more comfortable putting my hard earned money toward a Porsche. Even if one is faster then the other it doesn't matter considering we can hardly drive the cars to their full potential in the first place.
Spending ~$120k for a GT-R you get a lot of performance for the $. But unfortunately that's kind of about it. Spending ~$200k for a 911 Turbo S will get you a lot of performance, day-to-day comfort, styling to die for, perfect DD and the cache of one of the most prestigious sports car maker in the world. I like the GT-R for what it can do, but the single-minded approach it uses to achieve what the only one of the things a 911 can easily do makes it a less of an achievement as the Porsche. My choice is clear, given my wallet can swallow the extra $80k...
As a paid (not more) of $ 100k for GT-R will get a lot of sport car for your money - in every aspect. As you pay over $ 200 for Porsche will get satisfaction of snobbish ambitions - but do they cost so much?
Glory Todorov As I've stated, as a performance-only bargain, the GT-R is tough to beat. But it's not anymore sports car than the 911 Turbo S due to their similar specs & performance. Plus, I'd be stretching my definition of "sports car" when referring to anything weighing north of ~1700kg. (Note the 991 Turbo S weights nearly 100kg less) Unfortunately for the GT-R, it loses everywhere else; the 911 does everything else better than the GT-R, not just for "snobbish ambitions".
Trades46 You are correct, try using the the launch control 50 or 60 times one after another. The gtr won't do it, the gtr is the fat lady sitting is a chair waited to be asked to dance, she can't.....ROFL
***** I wouldn't put it that way; I'd still take a GT-R over a Corvette anyway. The weight is still a glaring issue, but the rest of the car (especially the trick AWD system) is simply epic. The only reason I pick the 911 Turbo is simply because...well, let me put it this way: You can can dust everyone on a track day, take the curvy mountain pass back, pick up the kids home after soccer practice and then drive the missus to dinner at night.
In Australia, a 911 Turbo S is $441,300 (AUD) and the GT-R is $172,900 (AUD). That makes s 911 Turbo S is two and a half times the price of the GT-R.. BEFORE you tick the options like the cool all-red interior they had on their test car. To dismiss price the way the presenter did (in our market as least) is just laughable. The latest 2014 MY GT-R is set much more on-road refinement and the option of nicer interior colours. For one Turbo S I can get a GT-R and a Range Rover Vogue V8 and a lot of money left over for a seriously fancy boat!
ewt415 Yes, very true. We have what is known as LCT or Luxury Car Tax. This is over and above the normal tax that most countries have (eg UK has VAT, we have a 10% GST- Good's and Services Tax). What I did is took away the LCT component of the price of these two cars. The GT-R incurs $25,773 of LCT and the Turbo S a whopping $87,919 of LCT. Taking this 'insane tax' out of the equation and we have $353,381 for the 911 and $146,227 for the GT-R. Again we are still at nearly 2.5 times the price for the Turbo S. It's obviously a better car in most ways, but not 2.5 times better. I checked UK websites and I see Turbo S is £140,852 and GT-R £77,995, so still nearly double the price there. You could buy a GT-R in the UK and a NEW BMW M4 coupe for £56,635 and STILL have £6,000 left over before you look at a Turbo S. No wonder they say the Turbo S is £22,000 more than a 911 Turbo, because if they said it was £63,000 MORE than a GT-R people would completely dismiss their conclusions..and I noticed that the GT-R was not the updated 2014MY with LED headlights and the multiple under body refinements it has received....
ewt415 In a world gripped by financial crisis and economic downturn, price IS a huge factor, in fact it is everything. I actually agree the Turbo S is faster and more desirable than the GT-R and certainly worth more, but you have two cars built to a very similar spec with an almost identical modus operandi. There is a much closer relationship with the GT-R to the Porsche than there is the Veyron which is a stratospherically expensive ultra-car. I'm sorry, I cannot get around the fact that the Turbo S is about 2 to 2.5 times more expensive than the GT-R, and in my mind the presenter deliberately left this fact out and only spoke in terms of the price difference to the 'regular' 911 Turbo. The way the presenter speaks, it's as if there is a £10,000-£20,000 difference between the car. If it was this you say yeah, you can justify the difference, but £63,000 difference means it's not a choice of one or the other, the prices aren't even in the same ball park.
I'm not saying that price is not a factor. I am saying that price is never directly 1:1 proportional to the amount of car you're getting. You will never find a car that is 10 times better than the GT-R (at this moment anyway), yet there are many cars that cost 10 times more. That's all I'm saying.
This race is somewhat rare, because if you watch the video with alls details when the clock starts to run with the GTR the wiper does not stop at any moment because it's raining, however with the 911 not, the rain stop some seconds after clock . analyzing the situation as a result you really see the GTR had been few seconds faster comparing the condition which the 911 race.
I think GTR empty fuel tank and racing in raining condition was in disadvantage. You has reason. If we do the race in the same condition GTR would win for some seconds.
Porsche fans should consider a big thank you to Nissan for producing the GT-R from scratch. When the 997 was introduced there were excitements about it but nothing major. Basically Porsche took 996's shape, and combine it with the original 930 look, slightly updated the interior, and gave the car advanced stuffs of the time, like dynamic damper, PCCB, as options. Turbo was a different story though. When I read that it sprinted from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds I was like "WTF! this is quick, I think it just kicked Ferrari and Lamborghini's asses." Then the GT-R launched in 2008 to North America and it kicked everyone ass, except the really exotics like Veyron and so on. GT-R was and still is a supercar beater. At that time it was equipped with very sophisticated driver aids and 4wd system. Those days some Journalists and people would jokingly say that GT-Rs have no soul, and said that anyone could drive fast in a GT-R. (Funny how things have changed and every supercar now has significant driver aids.) From '08 - '10 every manufacturer was updating their line up. Equipping double clutch gearboxes, squeezing more hp from the engine, shedding extra weight, etc, etc. The Turbo got a revised engine (3.8L), and Porsche 'finally' ditched tiptronic in favor of PDK. Finally, the Turbo was a proper heavyweight contender. GT-R's 2011 facelift shocked the motor world again, not because the car looked much sharper (nicer), but a few private tests clocked 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds. Also launch control became standard. Then the Aventador, then the rumor of F12 will do 0-60 under 3 seconds. Now we have a 3 second club. I can go on forever. My points being that GT-R kicked butts two rounds and other manufacturers responded by making sure that their next gen supercars are not going to suck. That's why I think the 991 is a revolution when compared to 997 model. Such nice interior (from Panamera), timeless exterior. And the GT3 version kicked previous generation's ass by 1 second, unbelievable. Just wait for their minor changes 3-4 years down the road. Sadly, the mighty yet aging GT-R is going to be gone quite soon. There will not be a replacement for a very long time (actually no plan was in place). The demand for GT-R was just not enough to keep it afloat. So next time when you sneer at GT-Rs. Think about all the cars it beat since its introduction up til this point of time, its important role as a catalyst to the advancement of supercar industry. And for you GT-R fanboys, it was YOU, yes YOU, who tagged GT-R an unnecessary tuner image, subsequently caused its demise. (all those blah blah about yeah with that money I would rather buy a GT-R make it 1200 bhp and save myself 100 thousand dollars for upgrades. Yeah, whatever!! If you have that kind of disposable income obviously your lifestyle is different and your sportscar choice is either Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, not a freaking Nissan.) From a proud owner of '10 GT-R. Working hard to get my hands on a 991 Carerra S.
I think PORSCHE would be even quicker in the lap time if it was loaded with fuel equally as the GT-R that was almost empty and in the other side PORSCHE was fully loaded...
All the rich people who can afford to drive supercars, they all drive porsches, and if you ask them, they will answer "yes, i had a ferrari, an aston, few weeks with a lambo twice, but nothing can match a 911"
Porsche all day every day. GTR is a beast, but it's also a pig compared to the old Skyline. Been hit by the same ugly stick as 90% of all Japanese motors nowadays.
AbleToCum1 I have never heard that a Nissan has worse reliability than a Porshce. I dont know if that applies to the GTR as well. But what im sure is that the service fees each year will be much much higher with the Porsche
***** gtr transmission of the mk1 broke after 4-5 launch controls and nissan didn't give a flying fuck about the customers- the replacement parts (brakes, tyres etc.) from nissan original are up to 4x as expensive as in the porsche.
BeSoffen2000 Are you suggesting that Paul was speeding? 1.You should consider the fact that he was a decent guy who wouldn't speed his car irresponsibly. 2. He wasn't even on the driver seat! 3. There are many verifiable account telling that the car was 'acting' prior to the accident. They took the car for a run to see what was wrong. 4. I am not trying to bash any of the car, I am just the same car enthusiast like you 5. 2005 Carrera GT Paul was on is not equipped with traction control
Don't even have to look at the comments to know that GTR fanboys are crying over the loss and obsessing over the price. "It has better value-it is so much more worth it-it is a great bang for your buck car". No one gives one flying fuck. Porsche isn't about making fast, cheap, unreliable, ugly sports cars. They make cars which are refined, gorgeous, technologically advanced, blazing lot fast and exclusive. Trying to compare the GTR to any 911 is a shame. You can't compare a refined car to a cheaply disguised rice burner. GTR fanboys attack now!
Haha, you stupid GTR fanboys...do you really think people that buy Porsches ever wonder "Oh, poppycock- a Nissan GTR is the best value for the most performance...better get one of those instead..." If a satisfying driving experience is equal to the best 0-60 time for the least amount of cash, then everyone would just buy sportbikes and smoke GTRs all day. Not to mention all the money saved from buying a motorcycle. Is it too hard to like both cars for what they are?
So true! You really can't compare a GTR to a Porsche Turbo or Porsche GT3. The GTR is a technological masterpiece but it is an ugly empty anti-climatic car. Just look at the difference in the average Porsche buyer vs. a Nissan buyer lol. Read the posts from GTR fanboys. They're a bunch of low class Neanderthals.
Only thing I wish is that they did a real world comparison test, driving on streets and just explaining the differences between driving the cars in those conditions. How do they feel, I'm pretty sure the GTR feels soulless; it looks it.
The Porsche was able to record even a better time , GT-R tank was empty & the Porsche was full , this is around 100 lb or 45 kg of extra weight with it's 16.9 L fuel tank capacity . The Nurburgring lap time is an indication of mechanical excellence not usability or durability .
My god, this man is à Porsche employee!! À recent test with the 4c he also was not very objective! Give this man à Porsche and let Some other Guy do his job! Please
the porche 911 turbo is the actual fastest and most reliable awd turbo sport car to date the nissan grt is just more popular and well known by the crowd
You want better looks, better interior, more standards features and more comfortable driving experience go for the Porsche You want more dynamic ability, faster, better steering, sportier overall handling go for the GT-R
"You want more dynamic ability, faster, better steering, sportier overall handling go for the GT-R" - what makes you think GT-R is better in any of these? Even the JAPANESE RACE DRIVERS in their car shows said that GT-R is not a supercar and cant compete with european supercars, and they tested it against the old 911 Turbo. Its too heavy. Its in no way more sporty, dynamic or sportier overall than the 911. Its just very loud, unrefined, uncomfortable.
derbigpr500 A GTR snapped Clarkson's neck and a 911 could barely move it. Also, they had done a test of cornering speeds, in which too I believe the GTR won. TopGear loved the acceleration on the GTR so much that even Captain Slow wanted to have fun with it. If you feel TopGear is a comic show and still feel that the GTR is a slug compared to a 911, you probably own a Prius.
TopGear and I usually have similar opinions. You might have a different one. Also, what happened to Clarkson wasn't planned ( Or at least it didn't look like it was). All I'm saying is that the fact is that the GTR is a behemoth of a car, whether you agree or not. However, I respect your opinion and I understand that everyone has their opinions and mine may not be correct. I don't want to end this in a 'comment war' and want to act maturely. Have a good day/night ahead :)
I always wonder if Nissan makes a light weight version of the GTR, like making out of carbon fiber/ Aluminium, take away the rare sits, and put carbon ceramic brakes, is it possible that it can reach super car level
khuong1994 Dont get me wrong, I think the GTR is an awesome awesome car, and it is one of the cars I will definitely get if I had the money. But I just dont think it is a super car yet for now, but I really hope it will be a super car in the future.
Can't argue with that. For the price the GT-R is nearly as good as the Porsche Turbo S. But speed isn't everything. I've got a "slower" car and it still mashes on 90% of the people on the road. Even if you got a lower end Porsche or a Nissan 350Z/370Z you'll still be faster than most people :) or a used M3.
The Nissan were all the time indicating that its low on fuel and it will reach only 20 km when the Porsche 911 Turbo S has full tank when they test them. Unserious test when they dosen't have the same conditions! Medioker test of AutoExpress and I had higher thoughts of this magazine.
GTR fanboys always in denial every year. Like I give fvck if the gtr is cheaper. Even if I can never afford a Porche I'd never buy a GTR. You can launch control this Porche many times over and over and over and over w/out breaking it.
jrgti80 What the roadandtrack test of the 991 turbo s. They launched the car 50 times back to back, no overheating,no nothing, just pure german reliability and engeniering. Try launching the gtr like that and it will go into limp mode after a couple of launches.
Good review, but the gtr's lap, the fuel was on reserve and the porsche had a full tank, owning a turbo s i know that makes a big difference. Gtr is incredible performance but porsche is daddy.
Gt-r had the gas tank almost empty (range 21 miles) and the 911 had the tank full! Don't get me wrong I love Gt-r's but next time try to do things well autoexpress, for ex both cars with 20 L of fuel inside+driver!
The GTR would have been slower if it's tank would have been full - so let's say the Porsche is a full 0.5s faster (not to mention the track was more wet when it was driven according to the video)
Should you not put this top spec Porsche against top spec GTR? The new Nismo GTR? And when Chris Harris brought a modified Litchfield GTR to the track it demolished the last gen Porsche turbo and the new R8 V10+ We all agree the Porsche is nicer and better in almost all aspects (after all it cost 2x) but this was a test to see how fast they are and for the GTR to be only 0.4 sec slower (lets even say 1 sec) it's amazing.
The 991 is, by all accounts, on another level to the 997s when it comes to outright speed. The GTR's a pretty old car these days - it's quick, but everyone else has caught up.
bezor Ta The 7:08 time is not legitimate. Nismo tuned the time attack GT-R Nismo SPECIFICALLY for the Ring, gave it more power, non street legal aero, and a bigger wing compared to the GT-R Nismo customers will buy. Whereas every other manufacturers just optimizes for the air temperature/pressure, dry/wet road surfaces, time of day, etc. Nissan actually tuned their GT-R Nismo for the Nurburgring, like they do with every other GT-R they ran around the Ring. So don't have your hopes too high for that GT-R Nismo. This would also explain why no one manufacturer could get the GT-R around the Ring anywhere even CLOSE to the times Nissan claims.
GT-R is boring as hell to drive and doesn't feel special at all. I flogged one at a track day recently and came away very disappointed. I don't know what year it was but it doesn't matter. It's fast as hell and very competent, but that's it. 911 Turbo seems to have got a bit of its character which I'm not really crazy about, but it still looks great and is probably more engaging with its weird balance and lower weight. If I had 911 Turbo money to spend I would get the GT3. If I had GT-R money to spend I would get a Carrera S.
***** This is the dumbest comment ever sorry! You can say that the car has no soul in your opinion, but that's just your opinion. Now saying that the GT-R has no history is dumb in itself as Nissan has a huge racing heritage with the GT-R. Something to keep in mind.
***** I don't like the GT-R, but this is a pretty stupid comment. Your goofy generalizations could very well easily apply to 911 buyers too... plenty of them just want the badge and the image and don't care about the car.
Porsche all day, such a great car, stable, luxury enterior. Gtr is really ugly, plastic dials, shity enterior of 90s. This video showed us that life is not a drag race
wonder how much bigger the gap would of been if both cars been on full tanks, GTR had quite a bit of weight off being pretty much empty of fuel while the 911 had a full tank
I wonder how much faster the gtr would have been if the fuel tank had more fuel in it and wasn't being limited...? It amazes me that they would run a gtr almost dry and go pull a bunch of g's on it. Talk about not smart.
Yes, less gas in the tank means less weight. As long as it's not running on fumes, the amount of gas itself doesn't affect performance. The weight does, however.
Everyone forgets that the R35 was designed to compete with the 997 Porsche, The 991 is a massive jump forward from the 997, its a completely new car. The R35 is basically still an R35 with just some tweaks.
Anthony Alvear for the rich people the porshe is the best because of the quality ect ... for people who do not have money to buy or hold the porshe and have similar performance,is better gtr
JT1000RS but it is not necessary buy to the last model of the year, also cars of 10 or 20 or 30 years ago can be acquired, that its acquisition is cheaper... I have 911 Carrera 4S 2003 and I purchase only for 38000 dollars
Running the GTR on an empty tank around the track could easily lead to fuel cut or even worse fuel starvation = lean and catastrophic engine failure. Quite negligent actually!
Owen Mildenhall ...Great job commenting as he drove for laptimes. Explained exactly how the car behaved and how he felt while driving. This should make the decision of potential buyers easier to make. Both great cars. BUT PORSCHE ALL THE WAY
I can go out right now and buy a GT-R, no problem; I cannot go and get a Porsche 911 Turbo S; can't afford it. I would rather wait and save up for a couple more years, or more, and drive a REAL CAR, then drive one of the most ugly and uncomfortable cars ever made. I'd also like to point out that there are a multitude of relatively recent, used GT-R's for sale out there, and that says alot IMO.
both are excellent cars! but what separates the GTR and 911 doesn't (really) exist in the numbers, as ride comfort, interior quality, gearbox smoothness, compliance on the road, brand exclusivity etc aren't taken into account, nevertheless both are simply fantastic cars!
I think it is pretty sad that a large percentage of people actually believed that the Porsche Carrera GT "got Paul Walker killed", when in fact, it was the aggressive skills of the driver of the vehicle, Roger Rodas that caused the fatal crash that took both lives. The CGT is notorious for being high revving and super tail twitchy. The car, however, in static form hurts no one. Only until there is human interaction does threat of life and limb come into play when the inability to make proper decisions enter into the equation. Rodas was the one that chose to drive the car recklessly that fateful day that resulted in both occupants sadly losing their lives.
I would like to see in this group a Ferrari FF and a Lamborghini Aventador, since We are comparing cars and not price tags. If you ask me what I choose between this two, I would answer: Porsche 911 Turbo If you ask me what would I buy, I would answer: Nissan GT-R
you don't make much sense,if u prefer the 911 why would u buy the gtr? its like going into a restaurant saying I prefer beef stake over chicken but i'll order chicken.LOL if you buy the gtr youll buy a fast car,and if youll buy the 911 then youll buy a faster better car.SIMPLE
ganuv You were right if in the real life money wasn't a problem! Of course people would like to buy the best! But in real life my option make a lot o sense, because although the Porsche is better it cost almost the double of the Nissan, and offer almost the same thing...
GTR nismo probably a better comparison to 911S turbo. It's likely that it will go faster than Ferrari FF or Lamborghini Aventador on a closed circuit. See Nürburgring official laptime, GTR Nismo only best by 918 spyder.
ganuv Simply not true, the original gtr was faster than the 997 turbo and there was no difference in power barely 3kW. The 2008 the GTR did a 7:38 lap compared to 2007 model 911 turbo driven by the same driver and for the same publication it did a 7:54
bradley abeykoon The Nurburgring time doesn't mean a whole lot and is based a lot on the driver. Also, those times aren't from the same publication. Horust's GTR time was set over two years later with different tires. The 911 is a different type of car which our videographer kindly mentions at the end. Comparing it to the GTR is stupid, rich people don't buy GTR's.
I love how porche stays true to its heritage with its looks, you can always tell a porche. Wish ferrari would find a look that they can keep evolving into an unmistakable design that you can trace back generations.
wtf? racing in the rain and talking about understeer and oversteer? Then theres running the car with literally no fuel? Very professional to say the least...
Another thing is After clock started GTR ran in raining condition you can apreciate with the wiper. However porsche ran without rain (after the clock, not before). Then they ran in different condition. emty fuel and raining condition for GTR.
It is obvious the GTR is an eyesore for the Porsche fans. They can't get rid of this GTR what ever they do. Porsche has now introduced most of what GTR had in the early 90:s, AWD,AWS and the extendable front lip. Still they cant match the system Nissan uses to make this heavy GTR dance. That is actually the amazing thing with GTR. Most of us prefer the Porsche but there is no denying GTR has high merits. The Nismo is coming to challenge the Turbo and GT2 RS so watch out.
I'm a Porsche fan and I LOVE the GTR, so stop generalizing. Kudos to Nissan, wonderful car for the price. But nothing beats the reliability and status of a Porsche.
bezor Ta That's not true. Porsche fans are generally an older and therefor more mature demographic. Porsche has nothing to prove to anyone because they have the racing history and legacy to back it up as a company, so if anyone is insecure it's the internet fanboys who are the younger demographic and like the GTR more.
Toxxic88 If so then who are all the people responding to all posts calling the GTR a video game with no driving feelings anytime there is a discussion between the two groups?
***** I agree with you on petrol heads and that competition is good. I'm not saying Nissan invented all that but they also used a lot of that kind of technology also long time ago. Just because it's a Nissan doesn't mean they can't build a good sports car. It's too many here looking down at Nissan and think Porsche has to be great per automatic and beat everything. I think it's a great car specially how it can go so fast considering all that weight.
What a hell of comparation... Porsche is way better than Nissan, in fact, is the best car brand in the world at this time... You gotta be careful about what you say, without a previous search...
Fizzy Elf do you really think that GTR is better than 911? Holly shit, you have to learn something about cars my friend... I'm not talking about the track times, i'm talking about the quality of the brand... You can't say that Porsche killed Paul Walker and Nissan kept him alive... First when e died, he wasn't driving that car and second, Porsche cannot be compared to Nissan because, it's differente level of car production...
What about the Black or Track edition of the GT-R? And the new nismo version coming out... I don't think that Porsche would much to prance around about anymore.
Good unbiased review on both vehicles. I am a GT-R fanboy and accept the Turbo S won this one. Lots of biased reviews (especially in comparison to US vehicles) out there.
I read up on a lot of the comments below, all are valid opinion one way or the other. However, It's true that the GTR cannot be compared with the Turbo/Turbo S. Because simply they are not in the same price category. Sooooo True. So let see, Let's compare it to something that's in the same price bracket... Ding Ding Ding...... Let's compare the 911 Carrera RWD as I believe they starts at about the same price category and see who's the winner...... I REALLY believe that this is gonna be a close one. LOL Oh but those clowns can compare fuel economy in sports car right? I've seen M3 compared with Prius for MPG Challenge at TG track. LOL...
When you get up in that area of cars for example super cars, price doesn't matter anymore. Sure if we did a bmw 3 series vs a 911 it would be a price war. However, take the LFA for example. Costs more than both of these cars put together and it is still slower than them. My point is after you get in this category of cars price is but a number.
ewt415 This is something most GT-R fanboys don't get. When a more expensive car beats it, they use price as a crutch. But it's aokay to compare a GT-R against less expensive cars according to their logic. They just hate for their precious Godzilla to lose to anything. That's why I hate the GT-R fanbase with a burning passion. It's filled with a bunch of clinically obsessed followers, thinking the GT-R is the say all be all car of the universe. And if anyone *DARES* to disagree? You better be ready for an onslaught of angry messages. I've even received a few death threats. It's like organized religion! Or dealing with retarded "Bielebers".
krocialblack 7:08 at the 'ring Nismo GT-R. And I have never been a GT-R fanboy. But there is one thing I really hate in it: It is very heavy and still beats lighter more powerful supercars. GT-R is by far the best car of the past 10 years, And look it from that point of view: How much fast they made it and still cost a lot less than its rivals. That's a thing that has to be appreciated. I've always been a die hard subaru fan and I am very disappointed with the latest imprezas... Anyway what I am trying to say that I can't said anything bad for the GT-R. At the end the bigger the diversity, the stronger the competition = the better for us petrolheads.
Yup for $210K porsche better have rear wheel steering, if u add $100k on GTR, it will have 1500 Hp and will reach 1/4 in 9 sec. and GTR in stock $100K beats the $210K Turbo s in Nurbergring times easy. Porsche Maintenance is crazy too. New Gtr maintenance is cheap once change the tires to michellin super sports... even Carrera S4S cost $140 K with a little options. I do love the new GT4 cayman, but it is not going to be beating Godzilla for the money. Well, I prefer the light weight Gt3 for $160K over turbo anyway...
Does anybody else think this test is biased in favor of the Porsche since they chose the Turbo S with ceramic brakes, power bump, and anti roll suspension? *Why not use the 911 Turbo (NON S model) with cast iron brakes to compare to the GT-R?* Using the Turbo S instead of the 911 Turbo just shows how scared they were the GT-R may outrank the 911 Turbo in these tests and they couldn't have that because I think they wanted a predetermined Porsche win for this test. Thoughts?
They also ran the Turbo S in wetter conditions and more fuel in the tank. In a circuit like this, that more than makes up for the braking difference. In addition, Porsche's non-ceramics are almost as good as their ceramics. Motortrend was able to stop the C2S Cabriolet from 60mph in 93 feet.
If anyone noticed, the GT-R had an empty tank of gas on the hot lap, while the Porsche had 3/4 tank of fuel. Not that it'd make a huge difference, but they had to have done it on purpose to make the gap closer no?
I came here for the fanboy arguments. I was not disappointed. But, given the choice, I'd ditch both the Nissan and the Porsche, and buy a Jaguar F-Type R. Sure, it's slower, and sure, it's not as advanced, but your mockery and fanboyism will be overpowered by the roaring of the 5-litre supercharged V8, the squealing of the tyres and my uncontrollable laughter as I attempt and fail to go around a corner without hanging the tail out.
I love the look of this new turbo s but for some reason the GT-R just looks like a beast. I love the GT-R I wish I could afford one. For what the GT-R is capable of, I dont think any car manufacture can compete with it interms of perfomance per ££'s to be honest.
I had a Carrera 4S 3 years . 2012 I replaced it with the GT-R Black Edition and will never go back to Porsche. Amigo if you will read - I suggest you read about the GT-R NISMO, I had the pleasure to test one in France a few weeks ago. Trust me - this is a Car! No Porsche, especially for that kind of money! NISMO is also an expensive car, but it deserves every cent of its price! P.S. By the way this test is not correct because the class of Carrera Turbo S is GT-R NISMO, although again it is less expensive but with better dynamic values.
If I were to buy another sports car it would be a Vette because of what you get for the money but still the Porsche is simply the nicest car in the world.
you lost all credibility when u mentioned the name "vette:" if you call that a car you shouldnt be talking abt cars anymore.
hdidane00 Right because a car that offers the most performance bang for your buck in the WORLD is not worth a mention..hmm. You're obviously just a biased little bitch and you sir, should not be talking about cars anymore. Sit down while I serve you.
Steven Walborn
here we go again with the vettefagboys... who think they got someonething specially underneath their fat asses when in reality they got nothing but a piece of crap death cage horse n carriage.
I agree that Porsche is better than Nissan but not the best that's out there. McLaren n Aston Martin are up there
Only thing is that the 911 isn't exactly the best looking car in the World.
It was always mentioned that the Porsche is better, because it IS better.
Haha, It might be. Just make the video reviews fair is my argument. Suppose to be non-bias I thought. I guess I thought wrong.
This is physics. But limitation of it can be known only by real tests. I do not drive GT car and wanna know more.
Lesley Wilson
BTW the MY08/9 models were/are less tolerant of multiple laps re transmission temp and brakes - we're talking now about MY13 models vs the pork. A fact which has taken pork 5 years of development to just get close is amazing for the GTR ...and the Nismo will kill all the pork variants too.
In my opinion I find Porsche is far more dependable then Nissan. I would feel more comfortable putting my hard earned money toward a Porsche. Even if one is faster then the other it doesn't matter considering we can hardly drive the cars to their full potential in the first place.
totally agreed.
Glory Todorov
As I've stated, as a performance-only bargain, the GT-R is tough to beat.
But it's not anymore sports car than the 911 Turbo S due to their similar specs & performance. Plus, I'd be stretching my definition of "sports car" when referring to anything weighing north of ~1700kg. (Note the 991 Turbo S weights nearly 100kg less)
Unfortunately for the GT-R, it loses everywhere else; the 911 does everything else better than the GT-R, not just for "snobbish ambitions".
The only reason I pick the 911 Turbo is simply because...well, let me put it this way:
You can can dust everyone on a track day, take the curvy mountain pass back, pick up the kids home after soccer practice and then drive the missus to dinner at night.
Not everyone gets the insane taxes you Australians get. For people living elsewhere, these two are closer in price.
ewt415 Yes, very true.
A car's ability is never proportional to its price. A Bugatti Veyron is not 10-20 times better than a GT-R, yet it cost 10-20 times more.
ewt415 In a world gripped by financial crisis and economic downturn, price IS a huge factor, in fact it is everything.
When I read that it sprinted from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds I was like "WTF! this is quick, I think it just kicked Ferrari and Lamborghini's asses."
Then the GT-R launched in 2008 to North America and it kicked everyone ass, except the really exotics like Veyron and so on. GT-R was and still is a supercar beater. At that time it was equipped with very sophisticated driver aids and 4wd system. Those days some Journalists and people would jokingly say that GT-Rs have no soul, and said that anyone could drive fast in a GT-R. (Funny how things have changed and every supercar now has significant driver aids.)
From '08 - '10 every manufacturer was updating their line up.
If you have that kind of disposable income obviously your lifestyle is different and your sportscar choice is either Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, not a freaking Nissan.)
From a proud owner of '10 GT-R. Working hard to get my hands on a 991 Carerra S.
I think PORSCHE would be even quicker in the lap time if it was loaded with fuel equally as the GT-R that was almost empty and in the other side PORSCHE was fully loaded...
All the rich people who can afford to drive supercars, they all drive porsches, and if you ask them, they will answer "yes, i had a ferrari, an aston, few weeks with a lambo twice, but nothing can match a 911"
Chris Franz i sold my 911 turbo s to buy an R8 but 911 is great car so is Lambo huracan and others not the gtr tho 🤮
Porsche all day every day. GTR is a beast, but it's also a pig compared to the old Skyline. Been hit by the same ugly stick as 90% of all Japanese motors nowadays.
He did not used his wipers when doing the laptime with the Porsche..... The track was abviously much more dry than his hotlap with the GTR....
thats true this test is skewed and not objective. track looked drier on the porsche run and wet on gtr,,.
definitely. that gtr year model was faster than the turbo s
Gtr fanboys are out
GTR really changed the game, same performance, half the price.
Yes half the quality & reliability LOL
AbleToCum1 I have never heard that a Nissan has worse reliability than a Porshce. I dont know if that applies to the GTR as well. But what im sure is that the service fees each year will be much much higher with the Porsche
GTR is track and weekend car, Porsche all round car. Can't even compete
***** gtr transmission of the mk1 broke after 4-5 launch controls and nissan didn't give a flying fuck about the customers-
the replacement parts (brakes, tyres etc.) from nissan original are up to 4x as expensive as in the porsche.
Both cars are killer!
Porsche really killed Paul Walker though
vincent krisnawan ignoring the speed limit killed him dumbass
Accident could happen on any cars. The thing is Porsche is not meant for daily driving
4. I am not trying to bash any of the car, I am just the same car enthusiast like you
5. 2005 Carrera GT Paul was on is not equipped with traction control
***** irrelevant.
They are both nice cars but I'd much rather have a nice 700+hp awd sleeper wagon. Full bolt-on RS6 comes to mind.
+Charlie Long lol im not a GTR fan but u sure are a 911 fanboy haha
Porsche, there is no substitute !!!
***** I bet you live in mamas basement and love to play video games ! Hahahaha
Mark J
Lol @ mama's basement. Cracked me up. On a side note, the GTR looks sexy as hell.
369yuu 0-60 is wrong my friend it 2.5 or less for the 2015 nismo gtr
369yuu it 2014 for Europe and Asia but 2015 for the us which i was implying to
there is no substitute until GTR had launched
Fair weighted comparison. Although I have to say I prefer the usability of the GTR. Big boot, 4 usable seats.
Haha, you stupid GTR fanboys...do you really think people that buy Porsches ever wonder "Oh, poppycock- a Nissan GTR is the best value for the most performance...better get one of those instead..."
If a satisfying driving experience is equal to the best 0-60 time for the least amount of cash, then everyone would just buy sportbikes and smoke GTRs all day. Not to mention all the money saved from buying a motorcycle.
Is it too hard to like both cars for what they are?
So true! You really can't compare a GTR to a Porsche Turbo or Porsche
GT3. The GTR is a technological masterpiece but it is an ugly empty
anti-climatic car. Just look at the difference in the average Porsche buyer
vs. a Nissan buyer lol. Read the posts from GTR fanboys. They're a bunch
of low class Neanderthals.
wipers were on with the gtr and the windshield was clearly wet. Turbo s, no wipers, dry windshield... not fare...
CEYHUN KIRIMLI
You Sir are one attentive viewer! :)
CEYHUN KIRIMLI And if they went first in the Nissan and it rained it's also wet when the Porsche have it's go, or even more wet...that's not fair :'(
CEYHUN KIRIMLI 5:40 ,still wiping
Porsche is porsche thats simple ;) !!
Great review unreal commentary while driving those two beasts like that !
Only thing I wish is that they did a real world comparison test, driving on streets and just explaining the differences between driving the cars in those conditions. How do they feel, I'm pretty sure the GTR feels soulless; it looks it.
ReticentIndignation silly boy. Ive driven them all. GTR is the best.
Drag race ?????!!!!!!! We want a drag race
The new GTR Nismo would abuse this Porsche 911 turbo S
It should abuse this Turbo S, seeing as it was meant to compete with the GT2 RS.
Turbo S already beat it in worlds greatest drag race 4 & 7,and around Laguna Seca
Turbo S-1:33
GTR NISMO-1:35
The Porsche was able to record even a better time , GT-R tank was empty & the Porsche was full , this is around 100 lb or 45 kg of extra weight with it's 16.9 L fuel tank capacity .
The Nurburgring lap time is an indication of mechanical excellence not usability or durability .
now put that up against the NEw GTR Nismo :)
yeah 0-60 2 flat and a 9.3s drag pass also 7:08 ring time! OMG what a beast killer
why? so you can watch it lose again?
raptorsrule4 you can be sure that the nismo would be faster. Check the nurburgring lap time for the nismo
raptorsrule4 excuse me?
The Nismo is a tuned GTR and is not what the production can will be.
and 2.0Sec isn't reachable with its power levels.
I'd say the 911 is more known in general the gtr is loved by kids who grew up watching need for speed and thinking civics are badass
yea really
+Austin Hughes yes . I agree .
no sabes nada palestino mierda
+Issa Bendeck So reliable that Porsche only give you a 2 year warranty.
You want better looks, better interior, more standards features and more comfortable driving experience go for the Porsche
You want more dynamic ability, faster, better steering, sportier overall handling go for the GT-R
Its just very loud, unrefined, uncomfortable.
derbigpr500 If it makes you feel better I dont even like the GT-R, I would take the 911
derbigpr500 A GTR snapped Clarkson's neck and a 911 could barely move it. Also, they had done a test of cornering speeds, in which too I believe the GTR won. TopGear loved the acceleration on the GTR so much that even Captain Slow wanted to have fun with it. If you feel TopGear is a comic show and still feel that the GTR is a slug compared to a 911, you probably own a Prius.
krunal rindani Top Gear is the yard stick you use for motoring credibility? You haven' a notion kid.
The GTR is no match because of its weight. Porsche wins because it is lighter and has more torque.
Thanks for great review.. you're the best!
Also, to that buffoon down there: having the gtr low on gas is a GOOD THING. It only put the Porsche at a greater disadvantage
I always wonder if Nissan makes a light weight version of the GTR, like making out of carbon fiber/ Aluminium, take away the rare sits, and put carbon ceramic brakes, is it possible that it can reach super car level
How about the new Nismo?
you don't think the GTR is a super car? wot
the new nismo is 600 hp...... and add all the things you said
khuong1994 Dont get me wrong, I think the GTR is an awesome awesome car, and it is one of the cars I will definitely get if I had the money. But I just dont think it is a super car yet for now, but I really hope it will be a super car in the future.

But the nismo is not road legal, isnt it?
Porsche is beyond gt-r's league.
Not if Nissan put out base model gtrs starting at double the price like Porsche.
Great video! When you have the same driver testing the cars at the same time and conditions you can have more real results. Good job!
I love how the Porsche looks, but yet I also love the value and performance of the GT-R
Gotta love the petrol warning in the GTR
how can you measure the lap time if both cars didn't start from 0mph? it just seem like he is stepping on the gas all the way at the starting line
GTR fanboys always in denial every year. Like I give fvck if the gtr is cheaper. Even if I can never afford a Porche I'd never buy a GTR. You can launch control this Porche many times over and over and over and over w/out breaking it.
The Corvette is even cheaper than a GTR and can trash it many times over. GTR fanboys are essentially idiots.
***** The new Z06 is slower then a Nismo GTR.
why would you buy a boring porsche when you could drive godzilla for half the price
It really wasn't fair honestly. Nearly the best 911 against the worst GTR, and the difference is only 4 tenths of a second.
jrgti80 What the roadandtrack test of the 991 turbo s.
The GTR's tank is empty (01:55)! The Turbo is completely filled up (04:55)! Otherwise, the difference would have been even bigger!
Should you not put this top spec Porsche against top spec GTR? The new Nismo GTR?
And when Chris Harris brought a modified Litchfield GTR to the track it demolished the last gen Porsche turbo and the new R8 V10+
We all agree the Porsche is nicer and better in almost all aspects (after all it cost 2x) but this was a test to see how fast they are and for the GTR to be only 0.4 sec slower (lets even say 1 sec) it's amazing.
The 991 is, by all accounts, on another level to the 997s when it comes to outright speed.
The GTR's a pretty old car these days - it's quick, but everyone else has caught up.
the gt2 rs is the top 911 , and the new one will blow everything out of the water , everything
jamietherooster
I don't think it can beat the Nismo's time at the ring. That time is not far from the Porsche 918 time.
aatish sadasing
Then we have to wait forever :)
bezor Ta The 7:08 time is not legitimate.
What's your point?
Well I have money and chose the GT-R lol!!!
*****
This is the dumbest comment ever sorry! You can say that the car has no soul in your opinion, but that's just your opinion. Now saying that the GT-R has no history is dumb in itself as Nissan has a huge racing heritage with the GT-R. Something to keep in mind.
*****
I don't like the GT-R, but this is a pretty stupid comment.
I have to agree. Anyone that drives a car spends 100% of that time inside, I want nice materials!!
wonder how much bigger the gap would of been if both cars been on full tanks, GTR had quite a bit of weight off being pretty much empty of fuel while the 911 had a full tank
I wonder how much faster the gtr would have been if the fuel tank had more fuel in it and wasn't being limited...?
It amazes me that they would run a gtr almost dry and go pull a bunch of g's on it. Talk about not smart.
GTR - Empty fuel tank : 1:55
911 : Full fuel tank : 5:42
So much for a fair comparison ... On a track , 50 kg means something.
Also GTR ran (after the clock) in raining contion, porsche not. check the video again. Is like porsche run in a dry road.
@4:15 just look at them side by side, there's no comparison. beauty and the beast
GTR is the best choise car ever !
From the same company that makes the Versa.......Porsche makes Porsche, Porsche & Porsche......
new 991 looks so good id take Porsche im ready for a all new GTR tho.
As I notice you've tested the GTR with an empty tank while the Turbo was full tank. Would that be an advantage of the GTR?
Yes, less gas in the tank means less weight. As long as it's not running on fumes, the amount of gas itself doesn't affect performance. The weight does, however.
Sure the weight is what I mean even if I didn't mention. A litre of petrol is almost a kilogramme.
Everyone forgets that the R35 was designed to compete with the 997 Porsche,
The 991 is a massive jump forward from the 997, its a completely new car.
The R35 is basically still an R35 with just some tweaks.
Turbo S. Car for grown men
Great review thanks!
for the price the porshe you can get a 1000 hp nissan gtr...
It's not relevant ..
For the price of the GTR, you can get several 1000 hp Toyota Supra ..
But, no cuality, and performance...and prestige for the Porsche
Anthony Alvear for the rich people the porshe is the best because of the quality ect ... for people who do not have money to buy or hold the porshe and have similar performance,is better gtr
JT1000RS
but it is not necessary buy to the last model of the year, also cars of 10 or 20 or 30 years ago can be acquired, that its acquisition is cheaper... I have 911 Carrera 4S 2003 and I purchase only for 38000 dollars
TheBlackIdentety No, I have it 5 years ago and have done routine maintenance to him, have not had any problem, this is a German quality.
Running the GTR on an empty tank around the track could easily lead to fuel cut or even worse fuel starvation = lean and catastrophic engine failure. Quite negligent actually!
red on red!!! ooh that porsche is my dream
This 991 Turbo seems like a modern day 959 rather than 911.
Realize how thy weren't drifting the 911. It seemed a little u know wat but nevertheless great cars. GTR was faster and we know it
No, evidence suggests otherwise.
GT-R was faster and you know it? Please post a video of your comparison. Oh that's right you don't own either car.
You've had 5 years to save. Where's that Porsche at?
both are excellent cars! but what separates the GTR and 911 doesn't (really) exist in the numbers, as ride comfort, interior quality, gearbox smoothness, compliance on the road, brand exclusivity etc aren't taken into account, nevertheless both are simply fantastic cars!
The Porsche is simply a more composed car, thats why its so expensive
If you ask me what I choose between this two, I would answer: Porsche 911 Turbo
If you ask me what would I buy, I would answer: Nissan GT-R
i dont understand, u would choose the porsche but u would get the gtr? because its cheaper i guess or?
***** Yes, it's cheaper. With the price of the Porsche I buy a Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 9! That I would prefer to the Porsche!
you don't make much sense,if u prefer the 911 why would u buy the gtr? its like going into a restaurant saying I prefer beef stake over chicken but i'll order chicken.LOL if you buy the gtr youll buy a fast car,and if youll buy the 911 then youll buy a faster better car.SIMPLE
ganuv You were right if in the real life money wasn't a problem!
That Porsche is remarkably flat through the corners and it sounds so much better than the previous version, from the interior atleast.
i cant believe that turbo s has beaten the 911 killer, GTR!
It is lighter by more than a 100 kg
GTR was never a 911 killer,GTR has to be modded to beat the 911,for the same HP 911 was always faster then the gtr.
ganuv Simply not true, the original gtr was faster than the 997 turbo and there was no difference in power barely 3kW. The 2008 the GTR did a 7:38 lap compared to 2007 model 911 turbo driven by the same driver and for the same publication it did a 7:54
ganuv Don't forget, weight plays a big role here
bradley abeykoon The Nurburgring time doesn't mean a whole lot and is based a lot on the driver. Also, those times aren't from the same publication. Horust's GTR time was set over two years later with different tires. The 911 is a different type of car which our videographer kindly mentions at the end. Comparing it to the GTR is stupid, rich people don't buy GTR's.
Oh you take the latest turbo S against the stock (launch version) GTR? Play it fair, and compare it to the GTR black edition
Toxxic88
I'm a Porsche fan too. But it's too many Porsche fan hating on GTR. So it's not so much generalizing.
bezor Ta That's not true. Porsche fans are generally an older and therefor more mature demographic. Porsche has nothing to prove to anyone because they have the racing history and legacy to back it up as a company, so if anyone is insecure it's the internet fanboys who are the younger demographic and like the GTR more.
Toxxic88
If so then who are all the people responding to all posts calling the GTR a video game with no driving feelings anytime there is a discussion between the two groups?
*****
I agree with you on petrol heads and that competition is good. I'm not saying Nissan invented all that but they also used a lot of that kind of technology also long time ago. Just because it's a Nissan doesn't mean they can't build a good sports car. It's too many here looking down at Nissan and think Porsche has to be great per automatic and beat everything. I think it's a great car specially how it can go so fast considering all that weight.
that doesnt account for the price difference!! GTR all the way.. with a simple tune up of course lol
Porsche = killed Paul Walker
Nissan = kept Paul Walker safe
What a hell of comparation... Porsche is way better than Nissan, in fact, is the best car brand in the world at this time... You gotta be careful about what you say, without a previous search...
Francisco Colarinha best brand yes. But we are talking about 911 and gtr here. ONLY 2 cars. You gotta learn some logic.
Francisco Colarinha you kept talking about the brand not the fucking TWO cars. Omg. Im done with you.
What about the Black or Track edition of the GT-R? And the new nismo version coming out... I don't think that Porsche would much to prance around about anymore.
911 turbo every time.
Noop
LOL...
You are comparing cars, not the price of cars. Get over it.
When you get up in that area of cars for example super cars, price doesn't matter anymore. Sure if we did a bmw 3 series vs a 911 it would be a price war. However, take the LFA for example. Costs more than both of these cars put together and it is still slower than them. My point is after you get in this category of cars price is but a number.
ewt415
This is something most GT-R fanboys don't get.
Kamen Kachev It's the most surprising car the past tens years, but it is FAR from the best car.
Owen is so bad ass, love his best track time comparos, keep em coming!!! 2014 Corvette stingray vs standard 911 carrera pleeeeeease!!
Porsche cost $210K and Gtr $93K not a good comparison... it should be porsche carrera $97K vs the gtr.
+Vincent R 1500hp in a gtr would be a 7sec 1/4
new gtr has been updated in comfort quality. better suspension , noise reduction and shit.
They are both awesome and I wont mind any of the two. Personally prefer the GTR
Still prefer the Great! Nissan GTR. respect for the Porsche.
Why do you quote the power outputs in imperial bhp, but then use NM for torque? Absurd and stupid.
+Matthew Hall
Its common in Europe actually. Power in hp or PS & Torque in Nm.
Question: Who constantly talking about price of GTR ?
Answer: Little boys who playing Need For Speed and can not buy even a play station.
If anyone noticed, the GT-R had an empty tank of gas on the hot lap, while the Porsche had 3/4 tank of fuel. Not that it'd make a huge difference, but they had to have done it on purpose to make the gap closer no?
In other words, no, it wouldn't have closed the gap.
Godzilla!
The last Turbo s costs too much.
The old price and overall performance/luxury was good.
The gtr is a bargain compared to it.
Porsche is the legend!!
las leyendas no existen
I love the look of this new turbo s but for some reason the GT-R just looks like a beast. I love the GT-R I wish I could afford one. For what the GT-R is capable of, I dont think any car manufacture can compete with it interms of perfomance per ££'s to be honest.
Chevrolet can, and did, and are still going to.
Fuck the cost, Porche anyday for me.
Porsche is all new. Also this is the normal gtr not the track pack or the nismo. Can't wait for the rematch when the 2015 GTR comes out
0.4sec for double pay (price Porsche/GT-R)!? No thanks!
Nope - double price just for 0.4sec in everything, amigo! ;-)
Glory Todorov Like you know, what quality porche 911 and nissan gtr have.
Just 0.4% in favor of the Porsche, but double expensive ...;-)
I had a Carrera 4S 3 years . 2012 I replaced it with the GT-R Black Edition and will never go back to Porsche.
Amigo if you will read - I suggest you read about the GT-R NISMO, I had the pleasure to test one in France a few weeks ago. Trust me - this is a Car! No Porsche, especially for that kind of money!
NISMO is also an expensive car, but it deserves every cent of its price!
P.S. By the way this test is not correct because the class of Carrera Turbo S is GT-R NISMO, although again it is less expensive but with better dynamic values.
Glory Todorov 911 Status symbol..Porsche vs Datsun..I would take the first one. It's not only the track or the numbers..
Porsche more usable?? Last time i checked the porsche doesnt fit adults in the back and doesnt have a big boot
Both cars rear seats suck. However the porsche rear seats fold down and there is a small truck in front.
There's more to usability than boot space.
ewt415 yes like fitting 4 people without 2 of them having to be children or midgets
Even with at least 60kg more(Turbo S on full tank and GTR empty) it is that faster then a GTR!
Porsche rarely loses a head to head, especially lately.
