Nissan have done several revisións of the GTR, stop the nonsense of "is a car from 2009" thats is not real, is like saying that "the 997 is a car from 2004". Porsche redesing the cars because the 911 have a more wide target in the market, the GTR is a straight sport track car that you can modify and go crazy, is not something that every Business Man or some richkid is gonna buy.
Big price difference you put that in th GTR and it will smoke that porsche!
No doubt the porsche is lighter and with the same amout of hp it should be faster!

There's absolutely no shame in losing to a 911. I've no idea why people get so upset, Nissan or Porsche don't owe you a damn thing.

that gtr wasn't defeated by 911, but a 911 trurbo s. It's quite different from normal 911 & 911turbo, further more that's 911 turbo"S"!
洪睿輿 Semantics aside, the GTR is still a great car(not the best styling, imo) with dollar to performance ratio second to none. If you're a true lover of cars, you have no reason to defend one brand to another; unless you're on someone's payroll.
+洪睿輿 they got a stock gtr not a nismo or a black edition. They paired it with a 911 turbo s with is lighter and has the advantage.
Skills? Did it matter in this case, where both cars had steering wheel mounted shifters? All you do is floor the pedal at the beginning of the video, and hold it that way. "If something gets in the way, turn". If you need more torque flick down.

Yeah, but adjust that for inflation and it’s very similar to today’s prices for a new 911 turbo s.

A fairer test would do 10 laps in each car with the drivers swapping after five laps in each. Then driver ability would be mostly negated as a variable, but....I'm sure the fans of the losing car would claim something wasn't fair.
Porsche looked a handful to be honest i think in normal drivers hands it would be easier to extract performance from the gtr

No, the Porsche is a better car. The drivers are both pro racers and in fast laps in the same car Jason usually just edges it. They've done it many times over the years. They can both do multiple fast laps on the limit in any car.

Man... that looked like they had fun! I love the GTR (and all the Skyline's before it) but the Porsche is ofc a little better... you usually get what you pay for...in the case of the GTR you get alot more then what you pay for...

Caleb Pechumer hate to break it to you but the new nismo gtr will shit all over anything you throw at it. I love how people try and compare the porshe to the base model gtr. We are talking almost 70k diff in price lmfao. so atleast they can compare the nismo since it's closer to the price range but no one will do that comparison because obviously the Nismo is going to shit all over what ever car it goes against. GTR is Godzilla's and it just straight up crushes shit.

no way that they would launch only 1 car using launch controll. due to the traction problems of the gtr they must have used it.

At the end of the day, you cant go wrong with the GTR. It would all depend on who’s the better driver behind the wheel.

If you test the car with the tires the manufacturer installs, that's fair

70k vs 125k hmmmm, GTR always being compared to Turbo S that cost almost twice as much. Someone who has money to buy 70k GBP car does not necessarily have money to buy 125k GBP car, these cars are not often crossed shopped. I find it funny the comment section is littered with GTR haters, makes you think who's really hung up on a nonissue
I haven't watched Fifth Gear much, but I'd be willing to bet that Tiff is a much better driver than the other guy.

I never knew Top Gear had a poor man's version of itself that wasn't Top Gear USA.
I've owned 3 911's & had one remapped which gave me 540 bhp in an 2003 996 turbo. The GT-R's would literally school me. Say what you will, the kudos is in owning a Porsche but beware of the incredible Nissans. They never cease to amaze me & I don't mind telling you I'm a Porsche fanboy.

lol, I have a chiped 996 T and with PSS10s that GT-R won't see where I went, even with a same level driver and same level tires.. as a P car owner you should know the weight and traction, not to mention brake advantage the 911 has.. the GT-R is fast, but is not in the same league, especially after a few hard laps.
I own 2 Veyrons...one is tuned by AMG that it churns 1590bhp. But I hate my Veyrons since both always lose to my neighbour's Nissan Skyline R34...750bhp only. He once did 478kmh on Autobahn.

Maybe I am a hayseed Australian, but why would you have a standing start drag race, a cornering 'g' test, and a 2 lap sprint, on a damp track? All that tells you in which one has the better rubber compound. By all means, have the contest and note the times, but POINT OUT the track is damp. Yes, the conditions may be the same for both, but the effects will not be. This is not really a straight or fair test of which is the better car or the quicker car in any of the 3 tests.

They are both great cars and in the hands of professional drivers I think the Porsche is faster. I have done many track days in my 2013 GTR. I have never found an average driver in a Porsche Turbo or Turbo S to be consistently quicker when using similar rubber. It is definitely easier to drive the GTR at or close to the limit. The real surprise package in the Porsche stable is the Cayman GT4. Not nearly as fast on a power circuit, but on a pure handling circuit its hard to catch. Its a brilliant car.
The GTR launch is legendary but Porsche 911 is 5 decades of German precision engineering and constant evolution of technology!
They always seem to run wide delibrately at every corner so the car behind gets in front. Obviously to make it more exciting to the viewer . Suppose it would be boring if the porsche just disappeared into the distance.

They are both absolutely awesome cars! I wonder why there is still no one single Japan competitor for the GTR. And don't talk about Lexus LFA, that's completely different car (RWD, N/A V10 vs. AWD TT V6).
I personally would choose Porsche because I like cars with unique layout, such as flat-six engine in the back. And also it's much lighter than Nissan. Regarding design, GTR looks amazing to me, but 911 too, it doesn't change too much over decades and it's still beautiful. When it comes to engine sound, I would say that Nissan sounds better than 911 Turbo (naturally aspirated 911 GT3 of course is a different thing). So, I would take 911 but that doesn't mean I don't like GTR :-)

I will ALWAYS prefer the Porsche, but you have to admit it took Porsche lots of years of development to create such a car, Nissan is clearly showing what they are capable of in a significantly shorter period of time, I mean Nissan is not exactly what you call sport´s car maker. Yes they have their GTR´s and Fairladies, but they don´t make a living out of building sports cars

Tiff is a professional racing driver too..so he should of just time lapped both cars for more accurate comparison. The Nissan was clearly better but is geared for better acceleration at the comprimise of top speed...where as the porche is the opposite.

damn Germans know how to engineer a badass ride....the most exhilarating Drive I ever been in was with my aunt in her 911,she drove to grocery store , like we were in Nurburgring....I’ve been hooked ever since...
Both cars are awesome, and the GTR is best for the price. GTRs have always been so advanced for the time and prooving good driving capabilities, but nowadays its not easy to be more advanced than others. I am a huge Porsche fan, but I adore the GTR of course. It was a bullshit for the last comparison, since they were driving together on the same laps at once. They did not do a separate time attack challenge, where the same driver, drives both cars, having spent some time to get used with each of the cars. They were clearly trying to keep distance on some corners, to avoid crashing into each other, so giving me a winner in the 2 lap race in this case is straight bullshit.

Test the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S!
For the g force test the GT-R is capable of more g force unlike the Porsche that was pushing wide and got a lower g force . Also would of helped if the guy in the GT-R didn't have the AC on during the race ..
What comes down to in such a close fast cars is the driver of course, and not the actual car.
Tiff was working well hard with that Porsche where as big nose was quite relaxed in the Nissan
£125000 vs £70000.00. That's a £55000.00 huge difference that is not reflected in the performance. With bang per buck, the Porsche is left way behind. However, long term depreciation may be an interesting factor to consider.
GTRs have kept their value incredibly well, with reputation for reliability and ease of modding. German cars meanwhile.. once they age past the warranty period.. :/
You can put 10k of that cash into a power boost to get 650+ hp into the gtr.

The race is cool (although without helmets it is dangerous) but where is the lap time for each car separately?
Even being RWD the Porsche had good grip....the GTR is a VFM one but Porsche can do much better with an AWD setup.
911 all day long better engineered more reliable has a much better gearbox cheaper to run and the best customer service :)

The gtr in a lapping day is quick but not for long the brakes and tires die very quickly because of it's heavy weight
They detuned the GT-R its supposed to have 552bhp not 5:30 and the GR-R has a waaaaaay faster pick than that they probably forgot to engage sport...
FFS. I thought I'd seen all the GT-R fanboy excuses, but I was wrong. How exactly did they de-tune the Nissan? Contrary to what Nissan fanboys believe, the GT-R is far from unbeatable, as this video (and countless others) shows.
A high-performance bargain? No arguments there. But unbeatable? That's funny.
Just accept that on the day, the better car one and stop whining with excuses or b/s about tuning the Nissan.
Or you forgot your knowledge about cars... This is obviously old footage... I know its hard for a Gt-R fanboy to recognize how old is the brick they are watching but you can always just check how the new 911 turbo s looks and compare it to the one in the video...and come to a conclusion that those arent current cars...
+JKOchoa _ when you tune a Nissan you HAVE to upgrade rods and other internals. The Porsche can be tuned to 650 with no such changes. Maybe changing the dump valves is all. The Nissan, as great as it is ( it's a superb car) just doesn't have the high quality build of Porsche

those who think a $50k price difference does not justify the 1 second gap between the 2, let me put this way, in Formula 1 a ONE second gap performance would cost you $50 million or more...
so $50k for a second a lap quicker car is a BARGAIN my friends.
driven both cars at the track (Las Vegas speedway " dream car rental ") did 5 laps on each, GT-R felt easier to extract performance, indeed, but i would take the 911 Turbo all day if money was no issue. Both go super fast but the 911 feels more special.
Rarely does a car that costs close to half that of a pricier rival come so, so close in performance.
In reality its probably even since driver skills differ.
Numbers aside, people who can afford a 911, buy a 911 over a cheap Nissan GTR because they want most importantly a reliable car. The GTR may be quick, but it's known for it's mechanical issues.

Driven both for considerable time, the Porsche is definitely faster and is much more fun, the Nissan was was very fast but a bit numb and a little lacking in soul. Normally I prefer Japanese fast cars but not this time.
Guys literally these cars are the pinical of cars. It's like Android and IPhones just chill, it literally comes down to who is a better driver but though recently androids been beating iphones
