Completely fell in love with the current 991 generation - in my opinion it is the best 911 so far. I never used to like porsche 911s but the current ones (well actually the ones before the turbo charged engines) are just amazing.
I remembered watching this on BBC late at night with everyone already tucked away in bed... When that 997 drifted into the scene, i jumped, screamed and yelled as if my favorite team scored a winning Champions League Final Goal. Back when Top Gear was Top Gear.

The 991 is such a fake car, having 4 wheel steering, electronic power steering, dsg clutch (so has the 997), ugly rear lights, 2000 suspension settings, dumbass gismos, a true nerdfest. NOT a proper Porsche. The 996 is beautiful and the most fun porsche to drive. Not to mention more reliable and sounds god like. It handles fabulously and pure on instinct. A REAL porsche, that communicates with you.

2:40 Zero to sixty in 4.6 seconds... and the new BMW M340i, which is just a slightly beefed up sedan and not even an M3, does it in 4.2 seconds. Cars really came a long way in the last 10 years. Regular saloons are outdoing former supercars in some regards.

My two favorite cars of all time: The Audi R8, and the Porsche Carrera GT. Seriously, if I ever even got to drive one of those cars, my life would be complete. However, to own, I would rather have the R8. It's an amazing car.
I'd much rather own the $800,000 Carrera GT than the $100,000 R8. Stay in school and get a good job and you can easily buy an R8 at some point. I'm torn between buying the R8, Viper, GTR or 911 but leaning towards the R8.

R8 is so solid. It feels just right on a track, the seating position is excellent, the clutch is suprisingly easy to operate and the best bit is the sound of the gear selector moving in the shift gates (or what ever you call it). Those metallic 'click' sounds are music to ears (in addition to R8's nice sounding stock exhaust). What a great car it is!
I miss the early 2000’s, when it was very good and acceptable for a car to have 400-500hp. Nowadays everybody wants superchargers, twin turbos, sportchips...

I drive an R8 V8. Sure it is not the fastest car on the market. But with the sport exhausts it sounds fantastic nd it handles fantastic. It is also easy to live with an can be used as a daily driver both summer and winter without a problem. I also think it is beautiful which off cause is subjective. When I want more power, if I ever will, I supercharge it.
I was in an Audi R8 yesterday and it is the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life. I was one of those guys that thought "the lambourghini is the best car ever" until I saw the Audi R8 quattro. Ive been in tons of lambourghini, even one that was smuggled into the U.S. and the experience of being in the Audi topped all of those times. Its comfortable, drives great, and is just an awesome car! especially when you go over 110 mph!

Just bought an '08 R8, and I absolutely love it. It's had a magnesium exhaust put on it, it's a rare color, and that manual gearbox is silky smooth.

I miss the early 2000’s, when it was very good and acceptable for a car to have 400-500hp. Nowadays everybody wants superchargers, twin turbos, sportchips...

The v10 r8 is an absolute monster. Hammond would’ve been gone in the dust if they had‘ve had the v10 version at this time
Well, then they would have compared it to the 991 Turbo as they are at the same price range and the results would be the same as here again.
For sure, but it then would not have been a fair comparison 😉. You'd have to take a 911 turbo and trust me on this... The 997 turbo is absolutely bonkers! And I doubt very much the R8 V10 would beat it on the track!

Jeremy's gripes about its looks really did not age well, huh? Then again, he was wrong even at the time. The first gen R8 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and hasn't gone out of date nearly TWENTY YEARS later.

Man looking at the r8 today truly is a timeless design. By far one of my favorite cars I have ever driven would kill to own one.
I drive an R8 V8. Sure it is not the fastest car on the market. But with the sport exhausts it sounds fantastic nd it handles fantastic. It is also easy to live with an can be used as a daily driver both summer and winter without a problem. I also think it is beautiful which off cause is subjective. When I want more power, if I ever will, I supercharge it.

I was in an Audi R8 yesterday and it is the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life. I was one of those guys that thought "the lambourghini is the best car ever" until I saw the Audi R8 quattro. Ive been in tons of lambourghini, even one that was smuggled into the U.S. and the experience of being in the Audi topped all of those times. Its comfortable, drives great, and is just an awesome car! especially when you go over 110 mph!
