I have to say, you guys do great reviews. It's not usual that a RUclips car channel reviews cars this way. Not by benchmarks, laptimes or numbers of that sort. You guys review these cars with emotion. And that really makes me click that subscribe button. Excellent review.
+EverydayDriver I love your perspective and your willingness to take criticism for subjective opinions. The magazines have some great reviewers but they lean back on 0-60 times and skid pad numbers. Your number one question is invariably "How does this car feel?".
Have you seen and shared our GTR film yet? Two GTRs (2010, and 2014) plus an Evo X for reference. Tell a friend... tell an enemy! ruclips.net/video/ZupgBABiqxM/видео.html
First off, I'm so happy you did this review! The EVO comparison to the GTRs was a completely ingenious idea, in my opinion. You'll never find a review like this. It's almost to good to be true. I loved the video. I agree with everything.
I am looking to buy a new car near the end of the year. Im in mainland EU btw. I wanna spend max around 40K euros on it, Which car would you suggest? Do you have a recent episode of small & cheap sports cars that I've missed? I know the miata and brz/gt86 and seat leon cupra are obvious candidates, but are there others? is it worth it reaching for a ford focus RS or WRX STI, or waiting for the new S2000 or civic type R? Thanks in advance for all the help/feedback Roeland
Paul, Todd, you guys are simply the best. In my "forced very early" retirement I have all the time to watch car video from A-Z, you name it. You guys are honest, neutral, objective, straightforward. Too bad there aren't many episodes to watch. Keep up the VERY good work guys. BTW, have you tested the A45 AMG? This AMG is light years ahead of the EVO with so much more power and torque & will give the GTR a hard fight if not beat it on the canyon road. Hello From downunder.
Making this comment in 2019 and this video has aged like fine wine. As a kid my dream car has always been a GTR. And luckily I was able to achieve the dream this year. And you guys nailed everything down on what it’s like to drive it (I own a 2015 so it’s the more updated version) the car is fast, too fast for me at times, I believe it looks alright but I’d still flaunt a corvette over it. But everything on the car makes my mechanical side happy. Except you’re right. It’s not the most fun car I’ve ever drove. If I had to tell you which car I’ve had more fun in, it’ll be my camaro. Much slower, corners like a tank, cheap interior, but it was a hoot to drive up canyons and do foolish things in. End of the day never listen to GTR fan boys who tell you it’s a better car than what ever car you own or want to own. As long as you having fun and enjoy what you drive, than that is what truly matters.
kobedabest You don't really buy the EVO for power though. Its defiantly a handling car over every thing else. Nearly 300 HP out of a 2l stock is really good too. One does not simply keep their EVO stock any ways xD. As far as I am aware, its super easy to make more power with.
As I was told once, it's Wayyyyyy more fun to drive a slow car fast than a Fast car fast. Ex. I have a 700+rwhp supra(on low boost) and when I jump into the power even from 2nd gear, there is a ton of traffic or end of the road or just unsafe. When I had a slower car 400whp Evo, I was able to go from 2nd to 4th actually feeling the power. Was even better(more fun) when I had a 200 hp Honda and was able to get excited when getting up to 90 mph lol from 1st-5 gear.
GREAT VIDEO!! I felt this way for years but couldn't put it into words!! you guys are telling me my thoughts! lol Ive driven the GTR, evo X, and I own an evo VIII I prefer my Evo over all of them.
Agree. I keep coming back to this for unbiased, sensable opinions. Loved the summary of this review and comparing the characters of these fantastic cars. Only fan boys can be angry with a review like this
You guys really nailed it. I own a 2009 GT-R (tuned on E85 plus other sundry mods) and prior to that a base 1999 Boxster. I still love the Boxster as an everyday car, it was simply effervescent. However… the GT-R has a sense of occasion that few cars can match. You roll Godzilla out of the garage and the word stops, and it truly destroys the track. Makes me feel like a star (which I am certainly not). I have a couple of old AMGs for daily driving, and the GT-R for weekend work. Life isn’t an either/or proposition … get a crazy car like a GT-R for laughs and a daily driver that is fun and accessible on our crowded roads. Keep the great vids coming, Paul and Todd!
I am biased towards Nissan/Infiniti but I can appreciate your argument about the Evo being more fun. The "fun factor", "drives itself" and the appearance of the GT-R have been commented about the GT-R for years now and is something that I hope they can address when they redesign Godzilla. IMO, Both are great cars for their respective segments. Great video guys!
I love your video guys. I went out and traded my 2007 bmw 328i for a Mitsubishi evolution gsr. Its as great as you said it is. I never stop smiling. God bless and keep making more videos.
Must say, I love - and respect - the commentary that you both have based on "everyman" considerations. Price, feel, the tangibles and intangibles both. Been watching your videos for sometime now, and it's refreshing amidst a swath of press that leave you wondering if there was sponsorship involved. Not that anyone's asking, but I did drive a '10 GT-R once. Felt the same thing --- felt rather disconnected. Ironically, I also drive an MR, which others would consider equally a disservice as it isn't a "true manual". I've lots of respect for the GT-R. Not only has Nissan constantly updated the design on the current model, but it's also built in as much value as one might find in a relatively low-cost, "turnkey" solution to fast and fun. I guess I'm still behind on the "upgrading" to the more refined class of cars. Too bad Mitsu doesn't leave enthusiasts with any new viable options to "tinker with" from this point onward.
Sorry for such a late post, but I just saw the video. Great work as always. Now for my comment. Firstly, I'm a Nissan Guy, so partial to the GTR. But I'm a guy who can appreciate a fine car regardless it's make, lol. Said; if Mitsu applied it's performance of the Evo to it's Eclipse, I'd side more with you. Just the whole Coupe vs Sedan thing for me. But I understand yoir point. Who can't appreciate an affordable average Joe performance car.
Now that Nissan has bought out part of Mitsubishi, I would love to see a new generation of EVO with some Nissan fixes here and there to really make it even better (interior etc).
Unfortunately don't see this happening either. Even though Nissan owns 40% of MMC, the focus of ownership is to make profit. Thus, the goal is to likely become profitable again. And that means selling cars that people will buy. And Nissan wouldn't probably have bought stock in Mitsu because of high-dollar models that won't sell as much as everyday drivers. If Mitsu makes a comeback in sales, then maybe there'll be room to appease the performance segment again. But unfortunately, they'll fall far behind in the performance market and in cred. Believe me - I'm all for MMC being relevant again. But it's an extremely tall order. Until then, we hold on to the older models we already have in our garages - much like the Evo in this review - because that's all we have left. *sad*
16:20 area is why I bought my evo, Im going to be getting a gtr next don't get me wrong but god is it so much fun and being a gsr and manual the inputs you control is so rewarding. Just in love with it
The end conversation is exactly what I say to people to explain my love for my jcw mini clubman. It’s faster on a circuit than faster on paper and cars 4 times it price market. The mini is fun with pushing it to the limits, the pops and bangs, the boost, the cornering speed. It’s just fun! All day, everyday!
I wish i had both of them cars... But the car i want to really own is the Evo, i would love to have a Evo 9 actually! But great explanation on both cars, i totally agree with how u guys made the difference between both... I's much rather go down a road laughing furiously like a maniac and feel like a real driver then a car that sorts everything out for me! Thanx guys! peace
Todd is spot on with his analysis of the GTR's. Couldn't agree with him more. I know GTR owners brag how they can destroy 99.99% of the cars on the road, but in a way, its sort of cheating. Its like Formula 1. The driver is only as good as his car, and thats not a true indication of skill. Its one helluva well-engineered car, but basing this purely on evoking the driver's senses, and the engaging factor, the GTR is just mediocre compared to other sports cars in its class. Yes, you can run 11's all day down the drag and post some of the fastest lap times at the track, but you're not impressing me doing it in a car like the GTR. This is coming from a "Nissan guy" too. Clock similar times in a 911 or Mustang Boss or Corvette, then I'll give you props.
stance autos They talk about these the way people compare the FRS to the 370Z. Yes, the Z is faster and more planted, but the FRS is just flat out fun to drive. Same goes for the GTR and EVO apparently.
Could you explain how is it that posting an amazing result with the GT-R is "sort of cheating" while doing so in a 911/Corvette isn't? Doesn't that just indicate that the GT-R is just a step up from their level? While I've never driven the GT-R before, I'm sceptical about the notion of the GT-R transforming the everyday driver into a track hero.
I just don't understand the focus on the GTR's tech. It WAS new - the first DCT for a rear mounted transmission - but EVERY car now has one - at least as an option. The C7 Z06 isn't DCT - but just as quick shifting (apparently faster) - Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche (even their GT3) ALL have DCT ONLY. Its the future gents.
Alex Zevallos - We actually wanted the MR for this comparison, but the Mitsubishi Press fleet only had a GSR. We know you've been a viewer for a while, thank you! Glad you liked this film... we hope you'll pass it on...
I would take the Evo anyday. They're very easy to make 500 to 900hp. Which is way too much power for me. But the potential is there anytime you're ready. It's the perfect car for everything. Unlike the gtr.
Since 2009, I own 3 GTRs, last one is a 2016, and I still have the feeling that those 2 guys never pushed their test GTRs anywhere close to its limit, and it is why they don't find it fun. You have to go a lot further into the speed numbers to make it fun. none of the video were ever fast ...
+Francois Piednoel Im sure they went fast but why would they film and post that? That would just get you in trouble. I dont own a gtr but im often in and around 2 different ones and I agree with them completely. The GTR is basically a car anyone is going to turn a fast lap in from a driver with only a permit to a professional ANYBODY can turn a fast lap in it. Hell im not that great and ive done faster laps than my friends on my first time in it (theyve since run faster than I did that time but my lap was not slow at all). Theres nothing rewarding about it. I find chipping away at the time in a stockish miata or wrestling a camaro around much more entertaining.
I actually don't think they pushed the GTR to its limites. The purpose of Progress and technology is to push the limits of what possible, and this is what the GTR is doing, the only problem with the GTR is that to get to its limits, you have to be at least double the speed of other cars, something that most people would not dare to do, especially people that only spent few hours or days with the car. if you spend enough time with the GTR, you can start pulling things that no other car can do under 1M$ ... and that is what is amazing on it ... I have upgraded only the power part, and it is now into the ludicrous area ... this is an other part they did not touch in the video, you can upgrade the GTR to an insane level of power, where even the 1M$ cars are power less. Nobody is faster than a Alpha AMS GTR, check out the fastest times ... all of this while still passing California very strict emission test :)
***** You completely ignored the point. They didnt find it fun or rewarding and alot of people including myself agree with that. We all know its fast but its boring. Like I said in a previous comment anybody including me (im no professional but I have experience) can run a respectable lap in it. Anybody. Theres nothing rewarding about the car at all because you dont feel in control of it if that makes any sense. The alpha ams isnt a stock car so who cares? Here in america there are plenty of faster cars than that. 7.5 in the 1/4 mile is definitely faster than anything I own but you are crazy if you think nothing is faster or powerful. There are 2000hp+ street cars all over the southern US man.
***** Do you think 7.5 is an unobtainable time? Plenty of car are doing it without the awd a gtr has and grip just as well on the strip. You need to catch up with the times. You sound like youre 10 years behind on whats going on in the aftermarket. Plenty of street cars are running that and using a standalone management system (you know, just like a gtr has to use to be tuned) boost by gear and "smart" traction control are available for damn near every car. Your GTR is nothing special. Get over it. In 2010 they were. Now? Not really.
' no drama when launching the car unlike the ZR1' ' lighter car is more fun when throwing the car in corners' you just cant have these in the GTR, and thus, you will hate it. its okay its your review and i respect that. i love the GTR because of these specific reasons and some more :)
Great vid, and it underlines the fact that everybody is attracted to different things. Some people love the look, some people love manuals only, some people love noise, some people love traction and precision, some people love losing traction, we all have different tastes.
GTR is more for the track, whereas the EVO is going after more of a rally car persona. That's just my opinion though, I'd have both if I had the money.
I would love to own a gtr on a stick shift! Like the Porsches they have stick and paddle shift options but my evo is really fun to drive too, love bringing it to open tracks and just owning other cars. ;)
I was lucky to own a 2008 Evo and now own a 2009 GTR. Definitely both great cars and it's hard to put them side by side and say "this car is better". They do similar things very well, but if I had to choose one...the GTR would always win. The smile the car puts on your face EVERY single time is hard to deny.
Boostd4 Of course they would pick the EVO. They entitled themselves to be "Everyday Driver". Then "Paul", is going to say, "the GTR isn't a bargain anymore for $100k". But their both fanboys of the M3. And is the 911s not expensive? Complained that Nissan kept refining the GTR every year. The car that does everything the best is not "fun".
I own a GTR. It never gets old...I love the transmission and the torque curve. The only thing that gets old is the bit harsh ride quality. Driving in LA with the crappy freeways beats on you. But I think a lot has to do with the run flat tires that I plan to switch out. I also have a 6spd supra which is a blast to drive and is more involved. But GTR is fun too so just buy two cars :) a second one that is a manual. I also think the price of the car has to do with it..when you just spent $100,000 you're hesitant to go to the canyons and push it 110% vs having a fun little Miata that if you wreck it you won't care as much.
Out of all the cars I've owned in the past my Evo X is by far the most fun car I've ever owned… I've had a Nismo 350Z, Acura RSX Type-S, etc… I've even gone through my truck phase and have had lifted trucks… but none of them have been more fun and capable as my Evo. They were all fun, but where they were fun they lacked in other areas. For example, my 350Z was a lot of fun to drive, but I couldn't do Costco runs or take it up to Big Bear for snow season… But my Evo is super fun on and off the streets. It's fun under any weather condition whether it's rainy, snowy, or hot. I can take it camping, or up to Big Bear, and I can still go grocery shopping and fit the necessities in the car.
Ev200818 Not really… the rear was a little squirley… like if you punch it the rear kicked out pretty easy. So when the pavement was cold or wet the rear sometimes wanted to kick out one way or another. But it was still a fun car. If I could have afforded to keep it and get the Evo I would have. It's a fun 300hp V6 car. Do you plan on getting one with the DE or HR motor? The 350Z basically went through three engine phases. The older ones had a slower DE motor, than they made the "rev up" DE motor which had more of a punch, and then they produced the HR motor with had more power.
Guys, you are 100% accurate in this review. I owned a 2008 EVO X MR and now own a 2012 GTR. I did miss the fun factor of a smaller car so I got a 2014 Cayman S to fill the void. Now each morning I decide if I want to blow away everything on the road and drive the GTR or smile and possibly lose a stop light drag race. Most days the Cayman S is chosen. The GTR stock exhaust note is so weak and doesn't match the fury of the car. Meisterschaft bitte.
I love your perspective and your willingness to take criticism for subjective opinions. The magazines have some great reviewers but they lean back on 0-60 times and skid pad numbers. Your number one question is invariably "How does this car feel?". It takes a good size pair to say an EVO is more fun than a GTR.
+Michael Cohen - Thank you for saying this. Numbers and stats are helpful, but they don't tell the driving experience. We work very hard to relay how it feels to be in the car for yourself. We're very pleased you're with us and enjoying our work!
20:27. *Easy explanation. And I believe this will be common in many high end sports cars. The GTR is just too refined so it's tough for the driver to feel challenged.* Some of the most enjoyable cars to drive aren't the "best" cars, but the ones capable of slamming you around while you're holding on to dear life.
The funny thing about the "r35 will never get invited to the Ferrari or Lamborghini part" is that at every car show I've been at where the gtr is lined up with the more "exotic" cars, the Gtr is usually the one that gets the most attention
Great video! I had a chance to ride in a GT-R a few weeks ago and was blown away by the performance. Having had the pleasure of experiencing many cars in my days (911s, Ferraris, Corvettes, various race cars, etc), nothing, absolutely nothing matches the performance of the GT-R. What an incredible machine! Having said that if I had to choose between that and the new Vette, my money would likely be spent on the Corvette. It's a better bang for a buck IMHO.
Since I'm no longer in my 20's I find what you say about the GT-R more fitting to my style. Being on the public roads most of the time, I'd like all the confidence, performance and safety I can get. For kicks and smiles I think I can get that with a lightly modded Miata or shifter kart on a track on the weekends almost for the price of a set of tires for the GT-R, lol. Good review!
I think I understand the judgement of these two cars. This result or feeling was same as the "MX-5 vs. FR-S/BRZ" video featured from MT. The FR-S beats the MX-5 even every stats on track time and feels way much sharper and accurate than the MX-5, but the fun factor of MX-5 was still more than the FR-S; not to take anything away from the FR-S as it still is a hugely fun car too in its own way. To draw it back to this video, I think that these guys just had more fun/stimulation in driving the EVO compared to the GTR; again, not to take anything away from the GTR's fun factor. Same reason why Lexus choose to put a single clutch transmission in the LFA instead of double clutch; sure the dual-clutch would be faster and more precise but the emotion from that dramatic feeling as the gears switching over touches the drivers senses that further engages them with driving experience. Nice deep analysis video EverydayDriver, I enjoyed this one.
Really love how honest you guys are in your reviews. My question is: you guys also drove a fully loaded evo x mr. Do you prefer that one to the gsr since the interior is better?
Nice review guys, I bought a Mini I would guess in large part to your review of compacts over a year ago.(Enjoyed it way more than the Fiat. Driving position and driving feel was so much better) I bring this up because you mentioned GTR guys buying Evos. If I had the financial stability I'd want an Evo over a GTR. No offence but GTRs are cop magnets. Evo just looks like an economy car. Looking forward to the next ones guys. Also it seems you agree again like back in the Cooper/CRZ/500 review. Second time if my tally is right!
I have a 350Z and drove a GT-R and 458 back to back at a track day. After getting out of the GT-R I was glad to get back into my Z. For me fun is engagement and sensations... the GT-R was faster than the 458 but it felt like I was driving an Altima. No drama, not much engagement... it just didn't do anything for me. With my Z it's like every time I take it for a spirited drive I learn something new and come away feeling like I earned something. You don't get that at all in the GT-R, unless you are at its absolute limits I'm guessing, which you will never reach on the street. It's too good. Plus for what it costs now you can get a 911 which in my opinion is a better value. Not as fast but on the street so much more fun. And depending on which model you get, you can buy a GT3 or even a Turbo for the same money. No way I'm going with a NISMO GT-R over a 911 Turbo; I don't care how much faster it laps the Ring. I think the "slow car fast" adage is BS.... speed is fun. But speed at the expense of engagement is a losing battle.
This show is brilliant. Talking about fun and well rounded cars, I hope you will soon do a review of the new mini S and golf GTI (with performance pack).
Interesting review guys.......well done.....looking forward to a 2015 STI review. Also looking forward to see how the new Z06 stacks up against the GTR
"The only way you are laying down in the back of the GTR is if somebody killed you." That comment timed just right made me blow a little coffee into my nasal cavity. Note to self, pause EverydayDriver video before each drink, just in case.
Nissan has lost a huge customer base by doubling the price of the GTR. Pretty soon it's not going to make much sales as it's new starting base price for 2020 is $115,0000.
@@mando3703 Fcking crazy this is 7 years ago haha I was 15 when I said that now I’m 22 😅 nuts but can’t disagree with you on that at the time earlier models looked good but as time went on definitely looks like a g35/350z hybrid now that you mention that lol
Maybe somebody said this already but the argument about having as much weight as a formula one at speed and that makes dynamics better seems bogus. Here's why, the F1 has down force which is different from weight. Down force doesn't get in the way of acceleration/direction changes while weight does in a big way! So a lighter car has better dynamics. I do love your reviews guys. Please keep them coming! :D
It sounds like before filming the discussion at the end, they had a sit down and said "Okay, boys... So how do we break this sensitively to the GTR community..." lol. Great review though. The most in-depth I have ever seen.
In terms of pure driving fun I would love to hear your guys impressions of the Cayman S! Was able to treat drive one albeit 2.7L and found it amazing for words. Great MR
I'm a huge GT-R fan, and soon to be owner, but guys (fanboys), it's okay to accept defeat. What they've said about it is virtually nothing but the truth. And besides, it's their job to critique cars, let 'em be! That being said, I must admit that these guys are pretty harsh whilst reviewing cars, and I'm not complaining because sometimes the truth hurts lol. But all in all they make great videos & if they need to be harsh then by all means go ahead. Keep up the great videos guys!!!
I remember back in the Japan days, the LAN Evo destroyed ppl on mountain/ back roads and battles at night. But then that was against r34s. The Evo is so old now damn....still a legend though
You know one thing I can not find anywhere? The Lancer X Ralliart and the EVO X, head to head performance testing. They put the MR and GSR and the EVO IX head to head a long time ago and the EVO IX won. But after almost 10 years I have never seen them put the Ralliart and the EVO X Head to Head around a rally course or road corse. Hell why are are there no videos of the Ralliart vs EVO IX since they share the same AWC system. Its just odd really....... Personally I would have expected to there to be a GTS vs Ralliart vs EVO X video somewhere since those are all the "sport" models and just showing how they perform against each other.
I would agree that the Z06 would win - as it should. Only in 0-60 will the GTR still maintain its edge (although the new 8 speed trans from GM is apparently faster than a DCT - the AWD of the GTR will always make a RWD car that much more challenging to put the power down). That said - the 0-100, 1/4 mile and beyond - as well as even road course numbers will be superior in the C7 Z06. Again - this should be so as the R35 GTR is over 7 years old now (its debut was in 2007 in Japan). Yes they have tweaked it - but it is essentially the same car. A new platform and 2014 technology will make the C7 Z06 a strong competitor.
CarandRacer As much as I love vette, I would like to see that to believe, both on streight and track GTR is destined to win. It was built to do exactly that.
henoch44 The thing is that the R35 was a competitor to the c6 Z06. The R35 was also manufactured in 2007 with stable performance upgrades as the years pasted. The C7 Z06 is a upgrade in performance compared to the R35. I don't even think the Nismo can top the C7 Z06. There will be a R36 in the future so that is going to be the C7 Z06's actual competitor.
they are right ! GT-R makes you look like a aggressive driver and it helps you in every way to look like it and almost cuts raw enjoyment and feeling, but outside it looks incredible while its on the move, EVO is truly mechanical and gives you the unfiltered feeling I'm a GT-R fan I just love it by any means , because it's great and no words to describe it's a piece of blended technology with car! GT-R R35 any time.
An awesome review guys! Unique from all the others on the subject of the gtr. My view after watching this is if you have the money to buy a gtr then by all means do it. But if it's abit out of your reach then the evo will provide you with all of that ypu could recieve from the gtr.
Your reviews are part of the reason I bought an Evo X.
I am also about to do the same 🙂
I have to say, you guys do great reviews. It's not usual that a RUclips car channel reviews cars this way. Not by benchmarks, laptimes or numbers of that sort. You guys review these cars with emotion. And that really makes me click that subscribe button. Excellent review.
BiskutKibal - Thank you! We're glad to have you with us and enjoying what we do. Lots more on the way, thanks for subscribing!
Tell a friend... tell an enemy!

good review. honest, unbiased. the only knock i have against the GTR is the paddle shifters. i prefer it in the standard missionary position.
Portable Wares then u wouldnt get the performance it has.
hell that's what she said
First off, I'm so happy you did this review! The EVO comparison to the GTRs was a completely ingenious idea, in my opinion. You'll never find a review like this. It's almost to good to be true. I loved the video. I agree with everything.
Very well done video guys!
Thank you, Sir! Glad you enjoyed.

"Only way you're fitting in the back of the GTR is if somebody killed you" LOL!
Hahaa this video was still good here in 2019. Awesome.
I love your reviews. They are honest, funny, and down to earth. Out of all of the other car review channels you guys are the best!
Just bought a EVO X... Best cornering car!
The amount of jelly can not be contained.
MrGovenator1 I do wish it had more power... But oh well.. Still handle great
kobedabest You don't really buy the EVO for power though. Its defiantly a handling car over every thing else. Nearly 300 HP out of a 2l stock is really good too. One does not simply keep their EVO stock any ways xD. As far as I am aware, its super easy to make more power with.
MrGovenator1 Yup, you're right.. I probably won't add much; maybe 50-70 more horses, should be good enough.
kobedabest Thats exactly what I would do. If it can beat a stock 5.0 mustang, I would be beyond happy.
Was even better(more fun) when I had a 200 hp Honda and was able to get excited when getting up to 90 mph lol from 1st-5 gear.
you mean fast car slow?
GREAT VIDEO!! I felt this way for years but couldn't put it into words!! you guys are telling me my thoughts! lol
Ive driven the GTR, evo X, and I own an evo VIII I prefer my Evo over all of them.
iv seen damn near every car reviewer on youtube and to me you guys are the best!
Thank you! We consider that a huge compliment. We hope you'll share our show with others!
Agree. I keep coming back to this for unbiased, sensable opinions. Loved the summary of this review and comparing the characters of these fantastic cars. Only fan boys can be angry with a review like this
+1 great reviews! Good info well told.
On and ple Ashe review to 2019 gtr :)
Evo x exterior design is perfect
Just wanted to say thanks for creating these videos guys, they're great.
Wow, awesome 25min video! Thanks guys! Love the podcast by the way!
You guys should add a third guy and become the face of American Top Gear. You guys are good.
+Basar Rizvi Just no.
Who can't appreciate an affordable average Joe performance car.
you guys are actually pretty good...glad to see some full length in depth car review.keepup the fantastic work, .thankyou kindly..hello from australia
*sad*
Slippercream 6G75M but if they do it our jaws will be on the ground
Nah the Evo is just fine and perfect on it's own from Mitsubishi If Nissan touches it they'll mess it up.
Great video, guys! You made some very interesting and valid points about the GTR and Evo. Can't wait for the 2015 STI comparo!
Some of the best unbiased reporting on these cars that I ever seen or read. Great jobs fellas
Thank you Paul and Todd! This is the video I've been waiting for!!!
Thanx guys! peace
What a fantastically in depth review! Also Paul seemed to be in a good mood in this video...
Always very informative videos in the point of view of the everyday driver!
Thanks a lot for the enjoyment you provide.
Really? Name any car that is better than it?
better at what? well, if we are talking about how much engineering has gone into it, probably nothing, this side of a hypercar.
stance autos They talk about these the way people compare the FRS to the 370Z.
Really love this review. Wish you guys would've used an MR against the GTR's instead of a GSR. But all in all great review. Do a 2015 Sti review next!
They said there next review will be a 2015 STI vs EVO X vs 2014 STI !
Alex Zevallos - We actually wanted the MR for this comparison, but the Mitsubishi Press fleet only had a GSR. We know you've been a viewer for a while, thank you! Glad you liked this film... we hope you'll pass it on...
GSR is better to be honest. MR has more weight and weaker tranny.
***** Stock for Stock, MR is faster around a circuit, due to its tranny.
Love my MR fully loaded. Kick ass in the canyons and great as a DD.
Another great review form you guys, keep making amazing content!
I would take the Evo anyday. They're very easy to make 500 to 900hp. Which is way too much power for me. But the potential is there anytime you're ready. It's the perfect car for everything. Unlike the gtr.
No question Mitsubishi Evo X best car Ever!
Lol ... 2000hp without and grip or smart traction control ... dream on to catch me ... many tried , none did .
Now? Not really.
' no drama when launching the car unlike the ZR1'
' lighter car is more fun when throwing the car in corners'
you just cant have these in the GTR, and thus, you will hate it. its okay its your review and i respect that. i love the GTR because of these specific reasons and some more :)
Do you guys not get the Evo X FQ400 in the States? Great review many thanks I watched it all the way through very engaging
+MONKY LONDON - No, we've never had the FQ400 over here, but would like to drive it. Thanks for watching this comparison. Glad you enjoyed it!
I've been following you on Instagram m8 :):):):)
+MONKY LONDON - I read all of that in his voice and accent haha, love ML.
FQ line were only available in UK
Unfortunately no
Great vid, and it underlines the fact that everybody is attracted to different things. Some people love the look, some people love manuals only, some people love noise, some people love traction and precision, some people love losing traction, we all have different tastes.
Great comparison guys! Always enjoy the refreshing honestly.
They entitled themselves to be
"Everyday Driver". Then "Paul", is going to say, "the GTR isn't a
bargain anymore for $100k". But their both fanboys of the M3. And is the
911s not expensive? Complained that Nissan kept refining the GTR every
year. The car that does everything the best is not "fun".
This review is amazing, you guys rock. I still don't get it how you have so few views :))
How about comparing a retuned/modded evo x against an R35?
bought the gtr. now let see if i can add a evo to my collection. would love it.
Guys I know its old but can you get over the other side of the pond and drive an Evo FQ400 (both IX and X) and a GTR back to back?
Apart from not being able to shop at costco. Were there any other problems you found with the 350z?
Meisterschaft bitte.
i enjoyed this video, good work as usual, always a pleasure to watch.
+EverydayDriver great work, guys. This is why I love Everyday Driver. You guys are different from the rest of the crowd out there. :)
I enjoy all their videos. They make me enjoy being an enthusiast even more.
Great comparison, I got a solid laugh at the Mitsubishi dealership jokes.
Great video, I had an EVO X FQ360 then sold it and got a GTR sold the GTR few years ago and now after another EVO
That’s very interesting to hear! Thanks for watching and sharing your ownership experience!
I wonder what the FQ400 or even the more recent UK special edition FQ440 feels like then. Must be a blast, and some!
20:27. *Easy explanation. And I believe this will be common in many high end sports cars. The GTR is just too refined so it's tough for the driver to feel challenged.*
Some of the most enjoyable cars to drive aren't the "best" cars, but the ones capable of slamming you around while you're holding on to dear life.
Fantastic videos as usual. Keep up the good work!
I only came here for the Evo x
An almost 25 minute video from these guys? Awesome :D
Gives me lots of thoughts as an EVO owner who aspires to be a GTR owner one day. Thank you guys.
+King Jack - Glad to hear this was helpful for you, thanks for watching!
Very well made review. I hope that Mitsubishi will do way better in the new Evo
Its a shame that the Evo is being discontinued. Saddest car news I've heard in a while :(
I think I understand the judgement of these two cars.
Amazing piece! Nice work guys.
350z LOL ..A POOR MANS GTR LOOKSWISE SLOWW TOO U R TRIPPN
Damn 24minute video! Thank you! I am glad to keep my ad blocker off for video's like this!
This show is brilliant. Talking about fun and well rounded cars, I hope you will soon do a review of the new mini S and golf GTI (with performance pack).
Interesting review guys.......well done.....looking forward to a 2015 STI review. Also looking forward to see how the new Z06 stacks up against the GTR
im getting an evo because of this video
"The only way you are laying down in the back of the GTR is if somebody killed you." That comment timed just right made me blow a little coffee into my nasal cavity. Note to self, pause EverydayDriver video before each drink, just in case.
I'm glad I'm not in the minority when it comes to thinking that Mitsu abandoning the Evo was idiotic.
This video was great. I enjoyed every minute, still haven't seen that Porsche special, might buy it on the first.
Nissan has lost a huge customer base by doubling the price of the GTR. Pretty soon it's not going to make much sales as it's new starting base price for 2020 is $115,0000.
I love the "Exotic" plates on. The first video I saw I thought they were personalized to the Countach.
In my opinion I love how the gtr looks
7 years later I reply to this lol. I think the earlier models of the r35 looks like a 350z and a g35 combined. Newer gtrs do look nice though
@@mando3703 Fcking crazy this is 7 years ago haha I was 15 when I said that now I’m 22 😅 nuts but can’t disagree with you on that at the time earlier models looked good but as time went on definitely looks like a g35/350z hybrid now that you mention that lol
@@paradoxmight5512 ayee I'm 22 rn too 🤣🤣
@@mando3703 ayeee yessir 😤 😂 crazy coincidence
You can't compare a Evo to gtr. Nissan is in a different league in all aspects
Very good video. I am your fan from Toronto, Canada.
Great MR
We've done a Cayman S review a while ago. We'd love for you to watch it! In fact, Paul owns a Cayman S.
You guys are the best!!! Great reviews...
srew drive , this is the real deal , thank you guys keep it up :)
yes! been looking forward to this video
I remember back in the Japan days, the LAN Evo destroyed ppl on mountain/ back roads and battles at night. But then that was against r34s. The Evo is so old now damn....still a legend though
i go with evo
You know one thing I can not find anywhere? The Lancer X Ralliart and the EVO X, head to head performance testing. They put the MR and GSR and the EVO IX head to head a long time ago and the EVO IX won. But after almost 10 years I have never seen them put the Ralliart and the EVO X Head to Head around a rally course or road corse.
Hell why are are there no videos of the Ralliart vs EVO IX since they share the same AWC system. Its just odd really.......
Personally I would have expected to there to be a GTS vs Ralliart vs EVO X video somewhere since those are all the "sport" models and just showing how they perform against each other.
i wonder how the new z06 will do against the 2014 gtr.. both are around the same price...
Z06 would win no doubt. Even maybe vs the Nismo GTR.
It might lose but it's more fun to drive?
There will be a R36 in the future so that is going to be the C7 Z06's actual competitor.
awesome review this was filmed in my home town ! I take my s2000 up that rd almost every other day :)
Very well made production. 4/4 Wheels to this video.
they are right !
