@@DlSCS Acura RDX. Oil and filter for the GTR and RDX cost basically the same. If you get OEM brake rotors and pads, yes it’s very expensive. But I have not needed that service done. Front and rear differential fluid was about $300 and I did that myself. Power steering fluid was less than $100. Transmission service was the most expensive, but I did that myself too and it’s not something you do that often.

This was such a great and informative video. I own a 2007 R35 and have had it for years. It literally never misses a beat and it has been a daily driver for 2 years. So as long as you do the basic upgrades and service it on time . They last! Currently 117k kms on the clock and no sign of anything wearing out. Have only had to change the rotors, pads and replace all the underbody bolts as stated in the vjdeo.
There are only 934 Australian Delivered R35s from 2009 to 2023 in total according to GTR Registry. The rest are grey imports (probably about 1000 ?) & you should really take care if buying an import. Banks won't finance, hard to get insurance & will cost much more, Nissan dealers won't service them & other difficulties.
Just go through the import dealers finance option… I got mine approved with zero issues. Also who the hell takes a 15 year old car to a dealer for service? Go to a garage that specialises in them, there’s plenty.

I’ve got the 2015 Black Edition and love it. The clunks and groans coming from the gearbox are pretty normal and have a great raw sound. The car manual even mentions this fact, so enjoy it.
I broke the second gear shift fork on one. After they pulled a piece of metal the size of my thumb out of the gearbox it continued to shift fine. When I traded it in it was sold with an inspection that could not detect the broken shift fork and sold as “never launched” on the add by the dealer. I disclosed both the broken shift fork and the hundred times I launched it. In other words, don’t trust inspections and dealers/owners, just accept it’s been driven hard and continue to drive it the same.
I had a 2008 one it was fun, even better modified. Screen issues, bellhousing issues, and oil consumption, just to name a few things but mostly reliable, expensive to run brakes tyres ect
9:10 As for the keys, I have 2008 370GT Coupe import, which my mechanics quoted me 1-2K to get 1 extra coded; many locksmiths said they just couldn't do it. One day I broke my FOB while out, and called a mobile car locksmith, and he coded a FOB & cut a key, on the spot and gave me a spare as well, all for $400. My FOB is a four button one, LOOKS like the one you show, but for my car, only the top three actually work.

I’ve only owned it for 2 years but it is my dream car and it’s damn near everything I thought it would be. Easy to work on and parts are getting cheaper even though you do pay for what you get. I will never get rid of it. Looking at buying a newer model in the future. ❤

My old 2009 GTR with the Litchfield bell-housing and steel plate’s in the diff’s had pretty much no rattling our clunking sound’s. And with h&r lowering springs on the stock shock’s it rides better than most cars. Really reliable cars. 👌
2021 owner here. no issues. Warranty expired 6 months ago Common issue is since its 4wd added wheel-spacers. Else it makes to much noise while turning. Another big issue for commuting in Germany. Even if i want to drive slow i cant :(

Yes yes but try to get lightly upgrades and 2nd gen facelift, check under the car and Obd2 scan, affordable performance Sport car, very expensive maintenance tires brakes oil change check and refer to the owners manual
I will second the plug for wipertech blades. I bought some for my Camry and they're a revelation. I don't know what they've done but they're in a different world to any other after market wiper blade.

Crazy that for the first few years the stock suspension was the best you could get, people with super high HP R35's were rocking stock suspension lmao... Also, I remember it took them a long long time to break into the ECU, at least a year or 2!
Did you mention that when they go for s service, is that Nissan always had the ability for the these to show you the acceĺertion etc, but knowing the but the dealers can tell whether or not if has been on a track or someone driving on the road doing illegal drag races. .. so I'd be taking mine to a dealer first

@KelmondChow For the most part. There have been stock transmissions breaking on bone stock cars. The motor is one of the most reliable motors ever made (Unmodified). The transmission has its gremlins no matter the power range.

I read that the ongoing maintenance costs are brutal. Particularly the 100k km plasma bore replacement price. That said amamzing depreciation offsets it. Been in a r35 with tune and midpipe, its insanely fast, like you dont have the reaction time to deal with it fast.
In terms of servicing cost, probably no different from (or maybe cheaper than) european shitcars. The cost of the ATF for my Hyundai Van is just as expensive as the DCT fluid
also no one who owns a gtr arguably cares about maintenance, and can afford to maintain the auropean competers. You buy a GTR coz you love it not because its of its japanese reliability
this is a history. When it comes out, it kicks all the asses: 911, lambo, 430 you name it. but over the not very long time, the 911 has become so much faster with so much less power and other super quick sports cars. Dont get me wrong it is still a great car in today's standard but that gearbox is a ticking bomb
I'd be more worried about the type person you bought it from than the car itself - I wouldn't want one that was thrashed. Also, country music sounds equally as bad through my Lexus GS350 speakers!

I got told the same about an lexus ISF. Shannons where not concerned it was an import cost exactly the same as a ADM. Unsure about finance though.

I've driven one of these before. The R35 is an absolute rocket ship of a car.
That issue with the scratchy black interior paint was a super common issue on Nissan's of that era. V36 Skyline steering wheels are notorious for it.

Paint bubbling is a VERY common issue for all Nissans. It’s a manufacturing quality control issue that’s never been resolved.
