    *UPDATE* Since filming this video GTR prices have changed a lot! I sold this R35 GTR for $75k with 50k miles in 2023. Expect to pay in the $70k range for a 2013+ R35 with around 50k miles. 2017 GTR's are going for about $100k or more. Early years are going to be in the $60k range.

      @@iamrob3044 That’s supply and demand for you. And what happens when the economy goes down the tubes. When I filmed this video things were thriving. Hopefully things get back to good next year. Best bet now is to buy a cool brand new car. I bought a manual Supra for MSRP. I can sell it for more then I paid. So it’s a solid car to have since it’s not depreciating. Same with our new RS3 coming. New special cars are the things to buy right now to not lose money

      Yep. I have a 2016 "modified" GTR, 2016 Hellcat, and a kit car A/C cobra. The Cobra blows them both away off the line but, the GTR quickly zips by - then it's gone.... Unbelievable. (Hellcat doesn't stand a chance.)

  • @advicemaster1365

    Excellent review! I've owned a 2016 for about 8 months. The first thing I did before buying, (and I recommend everyone do this) is bring it to the dealer for a diagnostic which will show how hot the transmission temp. got, and the oil temp. If ridiculously hot, (and the GTR tech can tell you) you may not want to buy it. Cost me $100.00, they gave me a nice print out and went over everything. Definitely gave me piece of mind! I've driven lots of sports cars over the years, Datsun Z cars, BMW, Benz, Hellcat, etc - there is no comparison. One of my life's best purchases.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 года назад +9

      Glad you liked the video! Yeah a pre purchase inspection is always a must! When I worked at a dealer we encouraged everyone buying our high end cars to do that. I bought this from a Nissan dealer, and it was sold new at the same dealer and serviced there every year. So I new it would be good. Sounds like some cool cars you've owned!

    With a GT-R you get a multi-page check sheet with explanations of the sounds and noises to expect. They define the GT-R as a supercar and to expect the unexpected. My 2020 has been great. The only thing I have noticed is reverse. When backing up it almost feels like the rear end is a solid axle which is amplified the more you turn the wheel. The steering remains centered but when you turn the wheel more, the resistance is sharply reduced. You feel you could easily handle any rally course driving with one finger. So at speed, 2 hands are required on the wheel to avoid over steering. At increased speeds, the handling is more planted and very comfortable.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I've heard about that when you buy a new one! Pretty funny. Mine does the same thing in reverse. Feels like the diff is locked. The GTR has speed sensing steering rack so it gets tighter the faster you go. It's really at home in high speed situations. Makes any drive super fun!

    Really liked this video. Found it to be very transparent. I used to work at Nissan dealer when I was younger and couldn’t afford it when they came out, been saving for a while then I saw how the clean low miles were finally in the low 60s. Only to then see them jump up away from me. It’s like every car I wanted to own growing up has become some collector’s obsession. I daily drive my cars. My only hope is that prices come down or I come across a ‘barn find” to make it happen. I’ll monitor your channel in case you ever decide to sell yours since it came from a good home.

    Just so you know the issues are with the CBA models of 09-11 GTRs for Launch control braking the transfer case and other transmission issues. But if you talk to a place that knows what they are talking about like Cicio Performance (formerly Top Speed Motorsports) they can upgrade anything to handle the power you are trying to get to. And you can get a new 2015 bell housing installed so it will fix that rattle. And the car is heavy enough so adding wheels that weigh more is not the best thing as you should go for wheels that weigh less for that unsprung weight. Like changing out to CCB kit will be less weight and improve braking and handling because of the weight saving on unsprung weight.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  3 года назад

      Thats a cool tip. Luckily my wheels weigh within a pound of stock. And I'm sure there are some good upgrades for CBA cars to make them bullet proof

    Technically model year wise (for the US) the 2009-2011 are the CBA. 2012-2016 (start of the DBA) have the same front daytime lights (with the slightly different front fascia), a different rear diffuser, a white-ish LCD gauge cluster, and gray plastic interior trim rather than the CBA’s orange LCD cluster and more silver plastic trim inside. 2015 Nissan went to the first “lightning bolt” headlight design and to the ring LED taillights. 2017 and up have current body changes and interior design changes as you described. 2012 was really the first step in the right direction in terms of improved bell housing design and changing the launch control logic a bit. Shep also confirmed the 2012-2014 model year cars have the same transmission parts internally.

    Conclusion if you going to mod your R35 to 800HP+ just go for 2008 CBA, since you already have to change the transmission parts which can handle 1000HP+ (Dodson , albine) even better than 2021 Nismo R35 . And guaranteed unlimited launch control no issue at all. That's the reason why 2008 CBA price still hold strong even all people say their transmission having issue, after market transmission even better than nissan not that expensive if you guys do research.

    I hate to call you out, but I felt there were a few facts you got wrong when you discussed the differences between the years and I'd like to address them incase you'd like to correct me if I'm wrong
    1) you discussed differences in years being 09 to 10, 11 to 16 and 17 on up. From what I know 09 to 11 is the CBA. So named because if the computer control and they're all pretty much the same. 12 on up are all DBAs with 17 on up having the visual update of bumpers and interior. The main difference between the CBA and DBA comes from the turbo inlets, Transmission update, and AV update. CBA can be pretty much up graded to a DBA by getting the bumpers, inlets and av unit.
    2) the CBA transmission issues are a myth. The issue with the CBA transmission was due to launch control (LC). The CBA originally came with LC1 which reved to high and sheered the gears. We are now on LC5 and most if not all CBA have bee updated to the new software. The other issue with the transmission can be fixed with TSB clips which cost $45.
    3) when you talked about the suspension between the black and the premium.i think you must have had different model years. The suspension is the same across trim levels. In 2014 the revamped the suspension to make it softer in comfort mode

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

  • @user-jt3nf7in5w

    20k miles or 50k miles - same price, just wait and you can snag a lower mileage car rack up miles then sell for the same price. Gtr prices have gone up 10-15k over the last year.

    First buying guide that really didn't cover the CBA/DBA differences or the Launch Control differences. Also you seperated the years between the models very interestingly 09/10, 11/13, and 14/16. I always thought the biggest differnces we're the CBA cars (09-11), then (12-16 - DBA - with changes to launch control) and then the big makeover in 17.

      I talked a bit about how 2014+ is when they revises suspension and transmission. And how the early cars really just need a transmission tune to be good. The visual side is what I talked about for the first few years with no foglight, and stuff like that. All great cars with small changes each year, 2017 being the biggest visual change

    • @GoldenK9Campers
      @GoldenK9Campers Год назад

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed True..transmission tuning will fix the major issues. My concern is the prior to 2011 years, the transmissions we're much more susceptible to failures because of the stock tune. It is nice that now the transmissions can be rebuilt (stronger and better), should you have any problems. I'm just trying to get everything straight.. cause i'm going to do my own purchasing guide. I've own my 2012 for more than 10 years.. so i've been through most of the common issues. I do really appreciate that you talked about how funky/weird the GTR sounds compared to most other sport cars. I think that's probably what surprises most folks new to the platform.

    I’m going down a rabbit hole of GTR content with the possibility of owning one one day. Great video and hopefully I can get one and make some good content as well.
    Question for all the current owners: I currently have a E46 M3 in manual. I love manual transmissions, the shifting, the work, the control, but I’m so listing over the GTR which is only DCt. Is this still dynamic to drive, I mean yea it probably is, but does it get boring? Or is the sensory experience pretty high thus making it an event to drive all the time? I have a very fast Tesla so I’m not really looking into speed but I like handling and drama. Thoughts?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  6 месяцев назад +1

      This car is very engaging. It drives like a manual and is clunky. Which ads a lot of character. So to me, this car is dramatic and a blast. Especially once you modify it. Stock the GTR isn't nearly as fun. But do the basic bolt ons and tune, and these things are insane! Not a boring car at all once modded

    • @Visuallearningwithjulian
      @Visuallearningwithjulian 6 месяцев назад

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed hey man! Thanks for the quick response. Last question:
      Since you mention that the car is more engaging once modded, how is that so? Like the engine mods or transmission mods?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Visuallearningwithjulian Just the sounds and extra power. It’s very quiet stock. Still very fast. But you once you ad and exhaust and intakes all the turbo sounds come alive and it makes this car so fun! And a tune adds so much power it totally changes the experience. 3in intakes, midpipe and stage 2 tune completely change how fun the car is. Then going downpipes and e85, make it wild

    Japanese track focused muscle car with rear biased AWD. What more can you ask for? The only way I can improve on this platform is maybe an option to switch from AWD to RWD on the fly. That would be the only way you could get me to trade my beloved R35 for the new hybrid one.
