Was just old enough to experience all the rage when the GTR came out and here we are, it's been 15 years and it's the final run of GTR. Time flies by like crazy.
Bro no way, I swear I recently I saw a blue GTR on the road and told my buddy how sick those still are, and here posts substitute Topher driving it around in my hometown.
One of the best cars to drive in any conditions. Very well researched and developed. Reliable and durable. I am praying Nissan doesn't off it or do some electric baloney. That is NOT what this car is about! Let the GTR live on and evolve forever!
The way the V6 engine starts up is so nostalgic ~~ the mechanical feel you get from that startup and just in general from the transmission shifting as well. It’s just more raw than most modern sports cars out there. Also 26 mpg on the highway is very impressive for this car 😯😯😯
I remember when that car came out weighing what it weights and people bashing on it and now is just part of the normal wight of performance cars. Also people hated that it was too “digital”. Now is the most analog supercar you can get. I think Nissan was way ahead of time with the GT-R.
Nissan wasn’t ahead of its time the way you think, it’s just a 15 years old car with some 15 years old tec’ like hydraulic power steering wich was common in 2009. Even about the weight, in 2009 a bmw m3 wasn’t AWD, turbo charged & as big as 2020 model. Time changes, the GTR still the same. But I agree it’s an amazing car.
Had the joy of having one for a week as a loaner. I had a baby then, and it worked fine. I’d say a tad more room than a G37 coupe, but beautiful. You can live with this thing easily. I shoved 4 people in mine but was crammed on the steering wheel, but I had to share my experience. Glad you got to drive this beauty.
It's funny, when this came out people were saying it felt sterile and "managed by computers" because at the time doing AWD in a sports car with advanced TC was considered "invasive" and unpure. Now we're pretty much all driving around in (performance) cars like this and i find vids celebrating the "character" of the same car. Growing old is funny.
Still kicked the C8 ZO6's butt. People are saying that there are faster cars now, but it still wins a lot of races. 11.0 seconds in the 1/4 is fast enough isn't it?
2017+ have the new interior which is better looking than the previous years. New console; larger display, no longer CD player, moved the start button. The console with different toggles looks great.
It's hard to explain how special & raw the car really is until you owned & driven one! Brute HP and it takes corners like its on rails with the all wheel drive and low profile tires. The 2015 I owned the door, hood and trunk sheet metal was Alcoa Aluminum. I sold mine ,though I loved it! It was not practical in my heavily congested with traffic Florida tourist town.
There are countless ways to go fast. At the end of the day, it just comes down to your style and "fast, cheap, reliable...pick two". It's really not all that hard to make a RIDICULOUSLY fast car these days...even if that means it's going to be a project that you gotta work on all the time. What IS harder to do is to make a fast car that's ALSO comfortable...an actual "street car" and not just a race car with a license plate. This is why I bought a GT-R. It's an AMAZING, SUPER well known platform where the sky (and your wallet) is the limit, AND it's very capable of being INCREDIBLY fast AND civilized in a way many cars can't do. My car is full bolt on, flex fuel, with upgraded turbos...800hp to the wheels and you can cruise around in it without ever knowing it. The only thing that would tip you off with mine is that it's LOUD on the freeway. A valved exhaust would solve this but I've gotten used to it. Overall, the GT-R may be old, but it's still an AMAZING car...especially if you find a nice used one.
One thing you can say about these vehicles is they hold their value. In Canada there are 25 used GT-R's (2009-2024) for sale on Auto Trader with an average asking price of $125K. This is only going to go up once they stop production.
I love the GTR not just because it is fast and powerful, the GTR is a Japanese cultural festival a presentation of everything beautiful in that country.
Really love the interior and the sound of it. Still a car I like, just don't think about it anymore as opposed to back in the day. Still looks pretty timeless, honestly.
Same same. I love the car… but there are just so many quality cars on the road now, it’s hard to pay so much to somewhat feel like I went back in time …. I dig nostalgia without question. But not at the price point personally
For years I was displeased with how old the "new" GT-R was, waiting patiently for an overhaul (same for my VR Q50), but as time's gone on, I now actively avoid new platforms, whether they be the 2-Series you mentioned or the TLX Type S. They're all too big, too heavy, and too numb. In large part I know this isn't some intentional effort by Nissan to be lighter and more "analog," but it is the result, so for new/newish cars, I find myself going to the Z/Q50/Q60/GT-R because it's older and therefore, apparently, more advanced, at least where driving dynamics are concerned.
love these they are like a piece of history that you can get new i'd get that over a lot of cars that price 👌its funny i have a Q50 redsport and the paddle shifters are the same and the steering wheel stock also i wonder what were you using to record ?
Ha! I saw you guys when you were going to Starbucks! I was on my way to Porsche West Palm beach to sign the paperwork on a new 911. Don't see too many bright blue GT-Rs in WPB nowadays.
Wow this GTR is beautiful I drove a 2017 version track day but weather here in the UK was awful so I couldn’t floor it too hard but it’s super quick. Your launch control 24:30 it’s so quick it didn’t even give u a chance to chance gear as it’s already on the limiter 😁😁 is this your own GTR?uk they retail at 90k
Yeah at this price point its a little ridiculous it doesn't have bolster controls and blind spot monitors. My 2018 Kia Stinger GT2 has all of those as well as a 3.3l twin turbo, and it only cost about 50k.
What does it mean to be an "honest intake manifold" after pointing out the overt cosmetics to present it's self in a greater way than it actually is? I would love to know the metric where this was determined.
It's a nice all-around car (daily + fun), but it's also 15 years old and the MSRP is 20k over what it should be if they had only increased it with inflation. And it's not like they're low enough used to pick them up for anything reasonable there. For 120k I'd rather buy a Cayman GTS or a C8 Z06 or a 5th gen viper or something like that.
I get the idea of keeping the car “raw”. But the fact that it’s stayed the same since 2009 but more than doubled in price is the real problem. What it used to go for was solid for how much car you got. At north of 120k before markups, I just don’t feel like a lot of the corners being cut are acceptable.
I have always liked the Skyline, but 123k for a Nissan is just insanity no matter how you slice it. That is the result of Nissan executives cashing in on the hype of the late 90s / early 2000s when we didn't have a US spec GT-R.
I'm thinking a 2024 GTR Bayside blue but i've wanted a Porsche GT3 2022 . What do you think i should do ? I want the GTR for the nostalgia and will have a piece of history while a GT3 is just cool but flashy
