Cradle Of Filth just keep releasing masterpiece after masterpiece. I found this album in a charity shop and bought it for the hell of it. Didn't give it much thought. It was this song that got my interest and made me spend more time with the whole album. It's a gateway song. Not even close to their best work, but a good siren song to lure the unsuspecting in. Regarding pitch, Dani Filth actually did have some troubles with his voice a while back (like, 10+ years back, but still, after Nymphetamine, so around or after the time this song was released). But he got a dedicated vocal coach and worked on his technique and nowadays his voice, especially live, isn't exactly what it was on their first albums from around the turn of the millenium, but it's much more sustainable, and still really awesome and unique!
Thanks for this tidbit! I didn't know that about him. As a general rule, there is no such thing as Symphonic Black Metal. If you like Dimmu Borgir, and their ilk, that's your prerogative, but they are not Black Metal. Just because a generic symphonic band has tremolo picking, harsh vocals, and bad corpse paint, doesn't make them Black Metal.

The first thing I thought when you mentioned you like the vampire / goth esthetics and sound was ‘oh she needs to check out Type O’Negative!’. Doom-death music from the early 90s all have a strong gothic vibe (Paradise Lost, Cathedral, The Gathering). @@SoulSingerDiscovers If you do sleepless nights be sure to do the live from the Fillmore version from 2015. King Diamond live is still amazing with him being in his mid 60's.
Liv Kristine, the female singer, has been in several bands herself. At the time of this songs recording, she was in Leaves Eyes. Elegy is a song I would recommend from them. And you wouldn't be the only soul singer. Noorha from Battle Beast came from jazz and soul before discovering her metal voice while emulating Janis Joplin. For Battle Beast, I'm partial to 'No More Hollywood Endings'
I HIGHLY recommend checking out the album 'cruelty and the beast' and reading all the lyrics. It's about the mass murderer countess Elizabeth bathory who was a countess in eastern Europe during medieval times...and did alot of medieval shit to poor girls. It's dark and atmospheric and Elizabeth character has spoken monologues going crazy throughout the songs. Such a cool concept...the music is incredible too. Wild album
My all time favorite CoF album,I love the complexity of that album , it is beautiful dark poetry and melodic mayhem. Dani was at his peak with that album in my opinion.
@JeremyMiller-sn6nh Dani peaked hard. Also Stuarts guitarist, les harnessing the organs sound and Nick barker being incredible put that over the line. So good
CoF does have a full time female singer (Zoe Marie Federoff) Liv was a guest singer on this song. Dani uses every distortion technique he can force through his larynx 😆
There's 3 versions of this song. This one is "fix" featuring a well known European opera singer(I forgot her name), the "Sara jezebel Deva fix"(who was theor actual recording/touring back up vocalist at the time, and "overdose". You need to listen to the overdose version.
If you loved this then try one of their others 'Heartbreak and Seance. Its just as dramatic, you'll absolutely love it! Cradle are one of Englands prized possessions.
check out the band HIM if you havent already... any song will do but I personally recommend "When love and death embrace", "Gone with the sin" or "One last Time"... Ville Valo (vocalist) is a brilliant singer with awesome lyrics 😊

Ms. Kelly, I just wanted to tell you that I love to listen to you talk, not only because of your accent, but you're vocabulary is quite to par of a lexicon! Thank you.
My first experience with Cradle Of Filth came via a Goth/metal girl I used to hang out with ‘round here. We met before I moved back to the area, then continued once I found a place. One day she brought me some burned CDs, as they were still in use then. Among them was a Cradle Of Filth album, the name of which I never made note of. But I liked the tracks enough to go find my own copies. I came across a double album compilation and bought it. After some time I grew to like the first disc a lot. Because to me each track sounded like its own little horror movie, and I used to be big into those. I also have some background in both metal and Goth, so I suppose all of that set me up nicely to enjoy their brand of Gothic-style extreme metal. Though this tune is more like a radio-friendly version of their songwriting. That said, it’s a great and sensible intro to the band before you might sample some of their more hardcore material. Either way they have lots of strong, heavy compositions to choose from. Other groups I would recommend would be Norway’s Dimmu Borgir, black metal with actual orchestral parts, harsh vocals plus clean singing; and New York’s Type O Negative, heavy Gothic/doom metal with especially low male lead vocals. I would consider these some of the top acts in their different sub-genres.
Awrite, I know I'm late to the party but I'm delighted to have discovered this channel and that you've discovered CoF. If you're curious about their old school sound, I'd recommend "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids" or "Bathory Aria". Though, to be honest, I'd absolutely love seeing you react to Rainer Landfermann ("Langsam, hinter's Licht"), especially if you’re up for something a bit unsettling and a bit of an assault on the senses. And I’d provide you with translations of the lyrics! That said, when you mentioned wanting to be able to do extreme metal vocals I immediately imagined you adding them to "I Never" or "Break of the Dawn" and I cannot decide if that would be hilarious or atrocious.
I love that you actually have looked up my tunes and Ill be honest I think extreme vox would sound hilarious on those tunes! Ill check these recommendations out Yavor. There’s definitely lots of scope to come back to CoF for sure! Thank you for watching my dude 🥰
This comment was CENSORED by YT(!), so another take... You want to know what genre they are? Nowadays, I would say it is goth metal, but for sure they come from a very own version of black metal. Very well-made extreme metal right from the start. The lyrics of Dani Filth are always extraordinarily well-made, unique. He called the genre "vampire metal" in the beginning, if you want to know what they come from, you might watch one of the probably most notoriously shocking music videos of the 90s in the uncensored version. (The one with the introduction of Dany Filth in the beginning, where he fantasizes about killing the pope and explains that they used nearly 100 gallons of blood for the video and have all the bells and whistles for an offending video, like ... yepp ...): Cradle of Filth: From the Cradle to Enslave ruclips.net/video/YnbOhSGVbRg/видео.html I guarantee you, after watching this video, you will never see a violin the same way as before. (People who watched it will instantly know what I mean!) Honestly, this is one of the best and most disturbing metal videos of all times, and it instantly made me a fan of them. They deserve a deeper look into their early work. They were always excellent.
This sounds very dramatic and I love it! I’ll check it out cos this feels like a sub genre I might find some real favs in. For the lyric writing if nothing else. Thanks for this! I love violin, not sure how I’m gonna feel after watching this 😂👍
heres my Cof Story. I saw a show 20 years ago called 'Living with the enemy' where they stick opposites together. Anyway some full blown metalheads mum who was like a level 7 vegan christian went on the tour bus with these guys and in the end she was like 'yeah idk about the music but Dani Filth is a very nice guy'. Its true.
Thank you for your analysis. Nymphetamine is a good song, but Born in a burial gown or Her ghost in the fog might show more is vocal range is you are interested to dig more in it.
LOL. Richmond is great! I laughed creepily when he gave that CD. Cradle of Filth has a lot you can discover, especially if you pay attention to those lyrics.
Just a side note, I checked out some of your music on Spotify - it was very good! You’re extremely talented! I liked Day of the Dead and She of the Woods. Kind of what you’re doing, you got me listening to different music.
Your reaction review is awesome! I could listen to you talk all day. I like that, coming from a very different musical discipline, you can appreciate the wonderful musical quality that COF belches out with poetic harmony. It actually takes a musician to appreciate a band like this. My parents are not musically inclined and broke my COF CD when I was in highschool, which just made me wanna listen to it even more. They have like 3 or so albums that tell an elaborate story about the countess Elizbet Bathory who allegedly bathed in virgin blood and embraces this as truth, although it was a bunch of misogynistic Aristocrats that made false accusations because they didn't like a woman having that much power in Bulgaria, as she came into it due to the death of her husband. You'd love the lyrics from those albums, and the transitions are astounding
Hey! Just found your channel and I LOVE you lol. If you're interested in finding out about the "spectrum of metal" and how goths relate to it/other genres, please get in touch! Slowly working my way through your awesomeness. With your gothic romance I believe you should continue with "Her Ghost In The Fog". Satisfying storytelling, another fine opera singer and expressive "burping" from Danni to satisfy your hunger 😝
I’m not into the vampire movies much but the Underworld series are quite excellent. One of my favorite Spookie / Creepy movies from my youth was Prince of Darkness. Alice Cooper even played a character in it. It’s not action packed, more of a slower and building movie but it’s one of the few I enjoyed.
Ah, the “beauty and the beast” vocal pairing… if you like the contrast, check out some Draconian, or for some sads, give Hallatar - My Mistake a listen. (Although these are both death doom)
There are so many cradle of filth songs you really should react to such as bathory aria, her ghost in the fog.. just for examples. Dani Filth is a Lyricist on another level.
I've adored cradle of filth 4 yrs but you need to watch I am not a vampire .revamped By falling in reverse. Video is a masterpiece work of art. It's about addiction You won't be disappointed.
I know you are just starting your metal vocals journey, but when you get a bit more used to the growls, please check out Will Ramos from the band Lorna Shore. There is a video from last year, where he visits the University of Utah Center of Vocology - they stuck a camera down his throat and see what's happening when he uses different vocal techniques.(it's gross, but fascinating) ..but yeah, listen to their songs first. I recommend To the Hellfire.
Who let Richmond out of His room?! Cradle of Filth is unique. Another video that I mussed... Happy Birthday weekend! There are some great Goth metal bands out there. I recommend the song Love You to Death, By Type O Negative. They kind of started it all. Keep up the great work My Fine Scottish Lady! ❤❤❤
Hey Scott, I put up a little post for you in a member section to wish you an amazing birthday week. I hope you have had loads of presents and love thrown at you all weekend ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I didn't hear about Cradle of Filth until 2015.. the first bands I heard that I considered goth were, Xandria songs like Forevermore, Ravenheart,, eversleeping, more bands like Epica, Sirenia, Within Temptation, Lacuna coil, Theatre of Tragedy.
firstly I have an advice always react to studio versions of these bands beacause often they chop of the songs to fit tv time. If you like Vampires you should defenitly check out Type O Negative (Black No1), also the studio versiom, their lead vocalist sounds exactly how count dracula would sing. Another great song is Dracula from Iced Earth, its based on the classic novel by Bramm Stoker
What metal has always done better than most other genres of music is it's ability to mix harsh and beautiful. Not all metal does it (grind certainly doesn't!), but when it does it it's often mind blowing. I still think the best example of it is probably Anaal Nathrakh who mix white noise and screaming with absolutely beautiful pathos. I'm pretty much begging you to listen to Obscene As Cancer by Anaal Nathrakh.
Hey, Ms. Kelly. I've been watching your reactions and interpretations of metal artists and enjoying it immensely. I was wondering if you might bless us with your thoughts on older singers like Vera Lynn, Alice Faye, or Annette Hanshaw? Maybe Judy Garland? (Garland could really belt it out if she wanted) Thanks. Loving your work.
Cradle of Filths album Cruelty and the Beast needs a listen to all the way through!! It’s an amazing concept album and every song compliments the next. Please give it listen to❤️❤️🤘🤘
And another check for you (forgive me if you have already ) as a gothic horror fan , King Diamond is a must listen. Most of his solo albums are horror novels , and his vocal style is ...unique . (And an inspiration to Dani filth). Abigail is the one to get first .
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Oh enjoy . Although I've never stopped getting into new bands and styles through the years, I'm an 80s kid at heart still and I listened to king and bought several albums of his back in the day .
Based on your curiosity about goth-metal and your teenage love of cheesy horror/vampire stuff (which I completely share), I definitely think you should give a listen to the band Type O Negative. Their singer, Peter Steele (RIP) was a truly unique voice in the metal world, and their music was a great combination of gothic romance, heavy metal, and dark comedy. I'd suggest the song "Love You To Death" as a good place to start.

So to answer your question about the relation between goths and metalheads. Keep in mind I'm talking about the waaaay-back days, so like the 80s, when I was in high school. (I'm old.) And I can only speak to the US. I'd say in the beginning we were natural enemies. I was the goth kid listening to mostly British post-punk stuff, and I hated any metal I heard. I wanted my melancholy melodies, minor keys, and sad poetic lyrics. Then again, the metal I was exposed to was pretty universally bad: mostly hair metal. I didn't start giving metal a chance until the end of my college days when my friends played the Black album, and I made a deep dive into Metallica's back catalog and became a big fan. But that was it for me--until Tool. Basically, up until recently, I liked a lot of hard-edged alternative that verged onto metal (like Disturbed), but few actual metal bands besides Tool and Metallica. Then I married a metalhead. And I was STILL resistant. Then I discovered Nightwish. I think the bottom line is that the crossover is MUCH bigger between the goths and metalheads nowadays, partly because there are now a LOT of bands that fall somewhere between. And both my husband and I were a little "too cool for school" back in the day and so resisted music that was different than what we liked. But he's helping me learn to like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest and a few other bands. And he's getting into Tool. You learn to like more stuff as you get older. So a marriage that was a divided house can stand. As long as you give the other's music a chance.
Thank you so much for this Carmen! It’s really great to get these insights into the reasons behind some of the things that happened in all these little sun cultures! Sure I could read what Google thinks but there’s something really cool about hearing it from people who really care about the music! Thank you 😊❤️
goth, would be something like bauhaus and the cure, very poetic stuff, add metal and you get goth metal, but filth is a bit fluid on their genre, they've done covers of pop songs successfully. it's good you got some control of your mic's gain in late videos...

@@SoulSingerDiscovers seconded for King Diamond - "Sleepless Nights" Live is a good place to start.
The whole Vinland Saga and Njord albums are great. They also made covers of Mike Oldfield (Lost in France) and Simon & Garfunkel (Scarborough Fair)…..
This is my all time favorite song.
I upvoted as soon as I read the "except twilight" part 🤣🤣
It’s the only one that needs to go in the bin 😆
There's 3 versions of this song. This one is "fix" featuring a well known European opera singer(I forgot her name), the "Sara jezebel Deva fix"(who was theor actual recording/touring back up vocalist at the time, and "overdose". You need to listen to the overdose version.
Will do 😊👍
So im few seconds into the reaction and your voice almost blew my eardrums and my mind. I bet you could shatter glass effortlessly. So strong!
The LOW parts are achieved with an octave pedal. And hearing someone talk about the nuances of Tom Waits was pretty rad!
Aw my god you’ve unlocked a super old memory. My old flat mate had that heart logo thing on the back of her neck. She was a big fan. I’ll check it out 😊👍
@@SoulSingerDiscovers hahaha nice. it's called a heartagram, I have one on my lower stomach like the vocalist does. Hope ya do some HIM. love ya channel by the way, you have earned a subscriber (me 🤣) 😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers also you should check out pretty much anything by "Post modern Jukebox" on youtube, they do oldschool covers (swing/ jazz/ beebop-doowop etc) covers of modern songs (pop/ metal/ rap etc)... I prefer their female vocalists and all of them are really good and soulful
@@ReinventingTheSteve oh yeah I’ve heard quite a few PMJ tunes they have some crazy talented players 😱
This was a brave choice. And you handled it like a pro. I first saw COF at an Ozzfest about 20 years ago and was instantly hooked. Great reaction!
Although not to everyone's liking. I love the complexity of Cradle's music. It is beautiful dark poetry and melodic mayhem. Dani Filth is an unbelievable lyricist and vocalist. Their music helped me through a difficult time in my youth so they will always be a part of me.

Ms. Kelly, I just wanted to tell you that I love to listen to you talk, not only because of your accent, but you're vocabulary is quite to par of a lexicon! Thank you.
What a wonderful thing to be complimented on. Thank you Bryan, Im glad you appreciate it 😊
Type O Negative for some really gothic metal - and a very deep voice with pitch
I don't remember seeing Lacuna Coil on your list. Cristina Scabia sang in a Megadeth song called A Toute Le Monde.
@@SoulSingerDiscovers I've been a fan since Levi uploaded a couple of tunes a while back! Just rather inactive on social media.

Time for some DIMMU BORGIR : GATEWAYS (Live in Norway with full Orchestra and Choir),also a killing Male/Female Duett !
I like the title.
Maybe we should start sending Cardle CDs to all the cloisters.
(The one with the introduction of Dany Filth in the beginning, where he fantasizes about killing the pope and explains that they used nearly 100 gallons of blood for the video and have all the bells and whistles for an offending video, like ... yepp ...):

I guarantee you, after watching this video, you will never see a violin the same way as before. (People who watched it will instantly know what I mean!)
Honestly, this is one of the best and most disturbing metal videos of all times, and it instantly made me a fan of them.
They deserve a deeper look into their early work. They were always excellent.
This sounds very dramatic and I love it! I’ll check it out cos this feels like a sub genre I might find some real favs in. For the lyric writing if nothing else. Thanks for this! I love violin, not sure how I’m gonna feel after watching this 😂👍
@@SoulSingerDiscovers You will still love violin. Just... differently. A bit more morbid. 😂
heres my Cof Story.
Its true.
Dani Filth seems like a good un! He knows how to write a damn good lyric for sure! 😊
Thank you for your analysis. Nymphetamine is a good song, but Born in a burial gown or Her ghost in the fog might show more is vocal range is you are interested to dig more in it.
I am absolutely interested in taking on more thank you so much for the recommendation 😊
It is my pleasure!! @@SoulSingerDiscovers
Thanks for reminding me about a band I was a big fan of about a 20 years ago =)
No worries! 😊
LOL. Richmond is great! I laughed creepily when he gave that CD. Cradle of Filth has a lot you can discover, especially if you pay attention to those lyrics.
Love your reactions, informative and funny! Check out King Diamond’s “Halloween”(live) or “Sleepless Nights”.
Thank you my dude! I will do, I’ve had quite a few requests for king diamond so I’m looking forward to what I might hear 😊👍
Just a side note, I checked out some of your music on Spotify - it was very good! You’re extremely talented! I liked Day of the Dead and She of the Woods. Kind of what you’re doing, you got me listening to different music.
this is the short version of the song
Oh wow really!? Damn now I’m annoyed I missed the full version 😆
For mostly listening casuals metal or rap, id say this is atleast 1 in 100 banger in its own category, freaking lovely song.
the female singer is Liv Kristine, try her exband - "Leaves' eyes - elegy"
6:26 here's the real music begins
Thanks for watching my dude 😊💜
the female is this video is the singer from Leaves' Eyes
What a wonderful comment! I love a little history in my comments. Thank you for watching my dude! So glad you enjoyed! :)
Hey! Just found your channel and I LOVE you lol. If you're interested in finding out about the "spectrum of metal" and how goths relate to it/other genres, please get in touch!

Uhm, Queen of the Damned, huh? Aaliyah''s vampire pub scene is one of my favorite movie scenes of all times. Excellent soundtrack by Jonathan Davis (Korn).
It’s a great film but also it is a bit of a stinker and was trashed by critics. Didn’t stop me from watching like fifty times though 😂
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Hahahaha. Oh, well, it was an MTV financed movie, it was totally clear, that the critics are trashing it. Nevertheless, I was floored that Jonathan Davis does a "serious" solo thing in a different direction, so I would have watched it for that alone! 🙂
Cheers from NY! I highly recommend Ghost in the Fog as next COF song. I love your voice and accent. You could read a chemistry book to me and would love it!
That’s so sweet John, thank you so much! I’ll check it out I think COF are a band that’s gonna be on my regular rotation. Thanks for watching my dude 😊
Slowly working my way through your awesomeness. With your gothic romance I believe you should continue with "Her Ghost In The Fog". Satisfying storytelling, another fine opera singer and expressive "burping" from Danni to satisfy your hunger 😝
She really has to check out type o negative. She would flip over he’s voice
You should react to Kong Diamond!!! a really difficult vocals 🤘🤘🤘
Ah, the “beauty and the beast” vocal pairing… if you like the contrast, check out some Draconian, or for some sads, give Hallatar - My Mistake a listen. (Although these are both death doom)
Great vocal reaction universal blessing 😊🤘🏼🖤🫂
Holy crap you should do some backup vocals for CoF. You would do amazing in Her Ghost in the Fog by them!! Jezebella Diva is one of the best
You need to start a metal band! Imagine the power you wield being recognized ❤
If I can get the hang of the vocals I just might 😂
@@SoulSingerDiscovers you get the hang of it faster then ive ever heard 🖤
There are so many cradle of filth songs you really should react to such as bathory aria, her ghost in the fog.. just for examples. Dani Filth is a Lyricist on another level.
You should check out their new song She is a Fire. It's mind blowing how high his screams can get.

I know you are just starting your metal vocals journey, but when you get a bit more used to the growls, please check out Will Ramos from the band Lorna Shore.
There is a video from last year, where he visits the University of Utah Center of Vocology - they stuck a camera down his throat and see what's happening when he uses different vocal techniques.(it's gross, but fascinating)
..but yeah, listen to their songs first. I recommend To the Hellfire.
I seen Dani in person man is he ever short.
It is not vocal folds he uses. He uses exclusively the false vocal folds.
I had the pleasure of seeing them live last night! It was 🤘🤘🤘🤘😈😀
What metal has always done better than most other genres of music is it's ability to mix harsh and beautiful.
I will check it out! I do love that juxtaposition! Thank you for watching Paul 😊
Dani Filth has 3ish voices which in recording he will overlay them to get a rich sound.
Everyone does that song to me best from cradle to enslave
Hey, Ms.
Oh my lord! I have too much to say about lady Garland! And Vera Lynn for that matter. I’d have to do a full series of videos to express my love 😊🥰
You should watch the videos for -death of love- heartbreak and seance- as well
oh boi how i can´t wait for the collaboration between Dani and Ed Sheeran
i mean c´mon , this will be killer
Cradle of Filths album Cruelty and the Beast needs a listen to all the way through!! It’s an amazing concept album and every song compliments the next. Please give it listen to❤️❤️🤘🤘

And another check for you (forgive me if you have already ) as a gothic horror fan , King Diamond is a must listen. Most of his solo albums are horror novels , and his vocal style is ...unique . (And an inspiration to Dani filth). Abigail is the one to get first .
I’m recording King Diamond this week. So excited m, such a huge horror fan. Thanks for watching Andy 😊💪
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Oh enjoy . Although I've never stopped getting into new bands and styles through the years, I'm an 80s kid at heart still and I listened to king and bought several albums of his back in the day .
Don't worry, they're from the UK, so, some good hearted banter is cool.
I will definitely check that out and add it to the ever growing list of nonsense I now listen to 😂 I’m sure it’s awesome 💪😊
For Your info, Floor Jansen (Nightwish) can sing anything between classic opera and heavy metal incl. growling. She is also a voice teacher and gives lessons, so if You would like to learn growling in a healthy way she might be your solution.

I am just discovering 😱
It’s taking some doing my poor deaf ear is like ‘give me a holiday’ 😂 thanks for this my dude!
