"Midian" (2000) and "Damnation and a Day" (2003) are f*n amazing albums... "Damnation and a Day" is one of those Metal albums that are instrumentally perfect from front to back... not a single 'stinker'... can listen that album in a row without a problem...

Cradle of Filth take me back to 1994 and the 1st album of theirs. I was 19 and having the teenage time of my life. Those memories of the early fun teenage / almost adult years were the best. The first cradle album was a unique sound, it had so many awesome moments.
Dani^ and that sounds untrue considering he doesn't chat with fans online, never has. Not even in the old days of message boards, especially bc of the obsessed female fan base. Check it out for yourself in the Order of the Dragon message board....it's still there and members only. The other band members would chat with us there but he vehemently doesn't talk to fans in dms or messages because it can cause problems.
Aaah I do love Cradle of Filth. They're consistently good even if their albums do tend to sound alike. Dani's mastery of language and how to arrange it is very much worth a read of the lyrics usually. Good choice for Halloween 🎃
I was lucky enough to see Cradle Of Filth live last week. I have been listening to Cof from their first album. They are up there as one of my favourite metal bands.
I remember Kerrang doing a thing with Dani in his 90's new build in Ipswich, was a perfectly normal house part from the glass floor in the kitchen which had a skeleton underneath.
Been a fan since I saw them the first time in 96 in a club. Always been a fan of the theatrics and their interesting use of melody and classical harmony in their writing. They are a full evolution of Opera into the extreme metal genre. Their music always tells a story, usually something dark or macabre. Dani is one of the nicest dudes in Metal. I have met him a few times at various festivals around the world and hes always friendly and welcoming. This is just another example of "worth the wait".
One of my fav bands and i love how the drums change so much in cof songs, going from one sound to something sometimes very contrasting. Im a simple guy and simple things like that get me every time
The amount of media (music, books, games, movies, etc.) that I like because it's "fun" would probably offend the true fanatics of that media. This music video is fun.

The band are only here for one day, obviously very busy and Marek takes time out to catch up. He honestly seems to enjoy it. "Lovely fella" as we say in Oz 😃 🤠

Dani did this weird horror movie, as well, which was so bad it was good 😀I have to try to find that movie again 🙂I've revisited them now and then since then, but now it was a long time ago I listened to them last, so... thanks for reminding me. They sound like they always did, which is not a bad thing.

love this expression of Music .. when you spend a bit of time exploring Black metal and all this dark metal stuff you get to know yourself further.. Cradle of Filth have certainly been around a long time.. its good.. Dani is a very talented lyricist and singer (as well as Screaming .. and high pitch stuff which is unique and fascinating) good one for reacting and checking them out
Realy special band, never really got into the black metal scene except for a little period of time in my teenage years, around 2005,all the lore about mayhem and the stuff, but cradle of filth have an special place in my heart for their special sound, perfectly mixing extreme sounds with goth aesthetics and sexuality. If you didn't, I suggest to take a look at the movie they made back in 2000, cradle of fear, it's at the same time incredible and ridiculous, with all the matrix and gore influence from the early 2000 underground era using the most unrealistic effects. Nostalgic stuff indeed. I hope they do well for a lot of time.

Last week I was in Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia pa and a nurse walked by me singing your song. So I said your singing a song by Justin Hawkings of the darkness. She looked at me and went into state of shock. I' m 70 years old and had a youth once. I went through punk rock era knowing everyone . It was nice to actually speak to now unapproachable celebrities. I spoke with Peter Murphy about screaming lord Such for example. That could never happen with today's music. With regards to this music video. Deep in the background I hear the party music in " eyes wide shut"
CoF are still rather excellent live, and their current single has an evolved, Midian vibe to it. Musically, they are a unique British blend of black, gothic and symphonic metal.

Cliff Richard’s Devil Woman is a belter but the cream of the crop is their cover of Shakespeare’s Sister’s Stay. It’s magnificent!!!

Dani filths vocals have definitely changed a bit through the years. Go back and listen to "Dusk and her embrace" not sure if he can still pull off some of the crazy vocals he did back then.
I still have an EP cassette tape of Dani’s first ever band called Carnival Fruitcake, that was from school days 30 years ago. This album was more of a hard rock vibe, it’s really cool though.
@ ok maybe 33-34 years ago, time flies. They were a 4 piece band, the album is listed on Discogs and I presume super rare - my copy is staying right here! It cost about £2 if I remember. Alex the drummer works in the city, Matt the bassist is a session Musician, Doug the guitarist a surgeon. The band were meant to play a local gig but broke up before hand, although turned up with some bass bins to loan another band. The other 2 bands still played that night. I was in a band called Black Moon with Ben, the original keyboard player from Cradle of Filth. Doug had a great guitar sound and played a Black BC Rich Warlock through a JCM 800 half stack. “Catch” is a really good song from the album. I remember Ben’s brother Paul played a black BC Rich, and was also in the early Cradle of Filth line up.
CRADLE!! wonderful band. They catch a bit of backlash in the metal world these days, I dont get it. Dani is a genius. Nothing but enjoyment for me, they are up there with Iron Maiden in consistency and quality.

How I chuckled when I noticed the inclusion of the COFilth London Marquee footage from '92 as I filmed that! They played low on the bill as were unsigned supporting Anathema and Cannibal Corpse. I spoke at length to Danni before the show as he gave me their demo tape and mentioned they were looking to go into the studio with a producer who's previous credits involved Echo and the Bunnymen if memory serves correct. He was a nice guy and I never really thought they'd amount to much ha ha ha!
Yep, one of the things I was told in vocal class is that normal whispering is really hard on your voice. Imagine trying to do it loudly. Ouch! He must know how to do it the right way all these years. I have always seen Cradle of Filth more as poetry with a gothic black metal sound then anything else. His lyrics as one of a kind. Sad and dramatic love story (Her ghost in the fog) to sickening depravity (Chaos AD) to vampiric love songs (Dusk and her embrace), the lyrics always portrains it in a very Edgar Allen Poe'esk type of way.
Cradle of Filth are actually one of the best contemporary dark wave bands in the world.

Doug had a great guitar sound and played a Black BC Rich Warlock through a JCM 800 half stack. “Catch” is a really good song from the album. I remember Ben’s brother Paul played a black BC Rich, and was also in the early Cradle of Filth line up.

How I chuckled when I noticed the inclusion of the COFilth London Marquee footage from '92 as I filmed that! They played low on the bill as were unsigned supporting Anathema and Cannibal Corpse. I spoke at length to Danni before the show as he gave me their demo tape and mentioned they were looking to go into the studio with a producer who's previous credits involved Echo and the Bunnymen if memory serves correct. He was a nice guy and I never really thought they'd amount to much ha ha ha!
Yep, one of the things I was told in vocal class is that normal whispering is really hard on your voice. Imagine trying to do it loudly. Ouch! He must know how to do it the right way all these years. I have always seen Cradle of Filth more as poetry with a gothic black metal sound then anything else. His lyrics as one of a kind. Sad and dramatic love story (Her ghost in the fog) to sickening depravity (Chaos AD) to vampiric love songs (Dusk and her embrace), the lyrics always portrains it in a very Edgar Allen Poe'esk type of way.
