One of the more important things to bear in mind when watching these films is that the Ring is a character in its own right. It is motivated by its drive to return to its maker and master, the Dark Lord Sauron. Since it obviously lacks the ability to move about on its own, it warps and corrupts the thoughts of those with whom it comes into contact - thus, it "ensnared" a new carrier and it "abandoned" both Isildur and Gollum.

14:35 The elfs are leaving middle earth ( the continent the movies take part on) to return to their own lands, as their power wanes and their power diminishes. The act has massive implications lore wise, which are WAY past the scope of the movies
A sign of great world building is when the lore goes way deeper than is actually needed to tell the story, and that is definitely the case with Tolkien. It has to be the most detailed fiction there is. Mix that with the incredible filmmaking of Peter Jackson and a cast of only amazing actors, and you get films like these. Excited to see the rest of your reactions!
Every Lord of the Rings reaction I've ever seen: "I want to be a Hobbit." It's so universal a sentiment, this life we see played out in fantasy, it makes us long for something beyond the natural.
@@georgechapman9688 Yes but that's not quite it. We want to believe there is some sort of utopia; happiness without limit in perfect harmony with nature. Of course, the movie quickly shows us this cannot exist.
My favorite part of watching these react videos is getting to see people experience The Shire and the Hobbits for the first time. It is such a beautiful place and a simple people, and I fall in love with the first hour of the movie again, every single time.
FYI: The reason why Aragorn was prepared for the Hobbits' arrival is explained in the books. He was assigned by Gandalf to wait for them there with a letter of introduction to join their Company and help them along the way.

Also, don't watch The Hobbit trilogy. It's garbage and betrays the books in any of a number of conflicting, terrible ways. Watch The Hobbit Tolkien Edit *or* The Hobbit Maple Films Edit. They've stripped out tons of unnecessary and terrible content, and edited three films down into a narrative that much more closely aligns with the books.
@@nulltheworm I’m going to disagree somewhat with your assessment of the hobbit movies. They were good movies, in their own right, almost independent of the books. Where all the extra material came from, was when they tried to stretch one book into three movies. I’d say, if you want to watch some fun movies with elves, dwarves, and a really big dragon, go right ahead. If you want what actually happened, look elsewhere.
I say go ahead and watch the Hobbit movies. I don't think there's anything that spoils the other two LotR movies. And I personally enjoy them. Yeah, there's added stuff that has nothing to do with the book, but when is a movie 100% faithful to a book. My favorite childhood film was only half of a book.
Read the book. It's a quick read. The movies are a bloated mess. The Hobbit is only about half as long as a single book of LoTR. It would take a lot longer to watch the movies.
"Mother of pearl" is my new favourite swear🤣Fabulous as this video was, I think slo-mo's of your jump-scares would make it better😄 It was a great reaction, by the way - it looks like you're really into the film and characters
There are other movies with extended versions where I feel there's a clear tradeoff between the extra information you get vs. the slower pacing of the film, but I don't get that at all with LOTR. Yes, the movies end up being 4 hours, and maybe that means not being able to see each of them in one sitting, but other than that I don't think the movie viewing experience suffers at all.
Enjoyed your reaction so much. I subscribed to your channel. Don't worry about the long run times you see listed. First, the time flies by. Second, About 30 minutes of each film is consumed by credits. Unlike the MCU, there are no extra end credit scenes.
I Never ever thought I will going to watching somebody watching my favourite films and enjoying it, thanks to you the old memories come back and really I enjoyed it, looking forward for the next Lord Of The Rings film :)
Your life will be changed by these films. As someone who came to them with no interest in them at first, literally had to be dragged by my best friend at the time to go see it in the theater, I came out of the theater completely invested and amazed. This trilogy is a testament to the ability of art (especially film) to change lives.
I look forward to the many parts to this. Subscribed this is my favorite movie and really do enjoy your reactions. Whilst reliving my childhood when I would see this in theatres with family.
I just discovered your channel today. I'm not even half way through this reaction & your jump scares have earned you a like and a sub. This trilogy is a masterpiece and arguably THE BEST MOVIE TRILOGY EVER MADE.
I'm a little behind on your videos so I will try to catch up. LOTR is one of my favorites. Really great reaction and commentary. Great facial expressions show complete involvement in the movie. Love the Hobbits. Looking forward to the next one. Take care
I will wait for your reaction, you are the best!! you look at it in such detail... you have no idea what kind of movie it will be. 17 Oscars, the phrases of the main characters diverged into quotes... and the special effects look spectacular to this day. What is worth only the outfits, weapons and armor that were forged and sewn specifically for the film
If you are interested in Bilbo's story, I highly suggest reading The Hobbit before you watch the movie adaptation(s) of the book. It is a very short read and very well told.
I always recommend movie watchers who enjoyed the LOTR trilogy to watch The Hobbit Tolkien Edit or The Hobbit Maple Films Edit. They've stripped out tons of unnecessary and terrible content, and edited three films down into a narrative that much more closely aligns with the books. In short, these edits are not just better films, they're films that are more loyal to the books.
@@nulltheworm As someone who recently got on the fan edits wagon, my vote goes towards the Chris Hartwell edits. They aren’t as true to the book as the others you listed, but they do rework the three films into something far more watchable as three films than either official version
Worse than trash, as trash is the refuse of useful things that have served their purpose. They utterly distort and ruin the hobbit. They are poison. They ruined my favorite book ever.
elrond is about 6300 years old , galadriel is much older - maybe 10k to 15k as its unspecified . aragorn is related to both , thru his distant elvish heritage . its all in " the silmarillian" - tolkiens entire history of that world starting with its creation all the way to movies present ( last 4 pages of 400) - its epic
These movies are the standard of how a movie, let alone a fantasy movie, should be made. The quality and care that were taken making these movies is uncanny! But one thing I never hear enough of is just how phenomenal the score is. Howard Shore created the BEST film score I have ever heard! So epic
I havent seen anyone mention this particular piece of movie set magic. You mentioned that the ring sounds heavy when Bilbo drops it before leaving the shire. Peter Jackson really wanted to emphasize the weight of the ring, so he had his team magnetize that section of the floor for that shot. As a result, instead of bouncing like a normal ring would, the ring just lands with a heavy sounding thud and barely bounces at all.
The "incident with the dragon" will be covered to the nth degree in the other over-long set of Peter Jackson movies based on the short novel "The Hobbit." Sauron's life force bound into the ring = Voldemort's 7 horcruxes? The elves don't trust men, dwarves don't like elves -- not a good foundation for a fellowship, eh?
5:29 "I wanna know more about this incident with the dragon!" In that case, when you're finished with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you'll have to watch the Hobbit trilogy!
Couldn't get past about quarter of the first movie. They stretched this thing out so much, one long movies worth of material was made into a trilogy and the quality dropped off a cliff. She should read the book instead.
Great reaction Lady. I liked it a lot. Can't wait to see the rest of it. I'm so glad you came across this beautiful wonderful story. It is the tale of tales. So buckle your seatbelt because you're in for a ride. I really hope you enjoy it and have a blast of time. I wish you the best. Greetings from Southamerica.
Okay I'm in. I was dubious after watching your "Jurassic Park" reaction in which you talked every minute but I see you've got a handle on reacting now. I could tell right away that you're a singer, I can hear it in your voice. I STRONGLY recommend reading the books, you'll like them even more than the movies I think. You'll also see what liberties Peter Jackson took. Tolkien created a world, not just a story. It has histories and languages and songs. Well reacted, Countess Addie.
Hello Addie , I have watched several of your reactions and I liked them , I'm going to subscribe now because I can see now that you're going to love this great trilogy , one of the best in my opinion , fun fact , in case you do not not already the language used by the Elves was a constructed language by the author for the story . He devised and restructured the grammar several times until it reached its final state. I cannot wait to see your next reactions to this , you are a genuine reactor I really appreciate that thanks and bests wishes from Mexico.
Bar none the greatest movies ever made, you are in for the experience of a lifetime, literally, after 20 years I've never experienced a similarly powerful thing as I did during those three years that the movies came out.
Elrond is roughly 6100 years old. More than twice as old as Legolas. Less than 2-4 times younger than Galadriel (who narrated the opening) and Celeborn, his wife's parents. Galadriel was friends with and mentored by Elronds Great-Great Grandmother (his grandfathers grandmother).
George R.R. Martin described Tolkien is the father of modern fantasy. With LOTR, The Hobbit, and The Samarillion. Tolkien created the biggest deepest mythological iceberg out there. The rest of us are just pretenders placing cubes of ice on a floating barge and hoping no one will notice the superficial storytelling.

14:35 The elfs are leaving middle earth ( the continent the movies take part on) to return to their own lands, as their power wanes and their power diminishes. The act has massive implications lore wise, which are WAY past the scope of the movies
* wanes
Oh thank goodness your doing Extended Editions
1:08 You should see E.T.
We had to walk out as kids half way though because it got too scared.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." was my senior quote lol
"What about second breakfast?"
"I'm definitely a hobbit."
🤣🤣🤣
A sign of great world building is when the lore goes way deeper than is actually needed to tell the story, and that is definitely the case with Tolkien. It has to be the most detailed fiction there is.
Mix that with the incredible filmmaking of Peter Jackson and a cast of only amazing actors, and you get films like these.
Excited to see the rest of your reactions!
Also add years of preproduciton while movies today maybe has 3 months.
Ooh, can't wait for part 2!
Every Lord of the Rings reaction I've ever seen: "I want to be a Hobbit."
It's so universal a sentiment, this life we see played out in fantasy, it makes us long for something beyond the natural.
Long for something close to nature
@@georgechapman9688 Yes but that's not quite it. We want to believe there is some sort of utopia; happiness without limit in perfect harmony with nature. Of course, the movie quickly shows us this cannot exist.
"I'm glad he has a buddy!" Same is THE buddy
Everyone needs a Sam…
Literally read this the moment she said it lol
That was fun, Addie! I'm so happy you are getting an immersion into J.R. Tolkien's LOTR!! Peter Jackson's films are amazing! You in for an adventure!
PRACTICAL EFFECTS BEFORE CGI
That's my motto
COMING BACK AROUND a year + later, to re-watch your reaction Addie !! One of the really GREAT things about the movie...re-watching them!!!!
I loved your reaction! I have seen these movies so many times and have watched countless reactions to them, and I still get emotional watching🥲 I look forward to accompanying you on this journey 🧙🏻♂️🧝🏻♂️🏹⚔️🌋💍👑
You will learn all about the incident with Bilbo and the Dragon when you watch "The Hobbit" and that is all I can say without spoiling things.
I will spoil a little bit: Gandalf was more than just "Barely involved".
"Mother of pearl" is my new favourite swear🤣Fabulous as this video was, I think slo-mo's of your jump-scares would make it better😄
It was a great reaction, by the way - it looks like you're really into the film and characters
I cannot wait to see you finish the rest of the trilogy!!! Thanks so much for blessing us!
Me seeing her jump at the fireworks made me think about what she'll do about Bilbo
34:20 Sir Ian McKellan's best line in this film is the one he never says. His facial expression here says a thousand words. Phenomenal acting.
Oh my..my new favorite reactor is watching my favorite movie! Looking forward to it
There are other movies with extended versions where I feel there's a clear tradeoff between the extra information you get vs. the slower pacing of the film, but I don't get that at all with LOTR. Yes, the movies end up being 4 hours, and maybe that means not being able to see each of them in one sitting, but other than that I don't think the movie viewing experience suffers at all.
Literally the only time it feels slow is with the Ents and that's on purpose lol.
Honestly you can watch each half-movie in the extended edition as it’s own film and it works as a series of 6 normal length movies
Glad I watched this, was feeling low but for some reason watching you watch my favourite movie cheered me up
Love your channel. Keep up the great videos.
Enjoyed your reaction so much. I subscribed to your channel. Don't worry about the long run times you see listed. First, the time flies by. Second, About 30 minutes of each film is consumed by credits. Unlike the MCU, there are no extra end credit scenes.
Just dropping a comment on the first video to say thankyou so much for putting all your LOTR vids in a playlist :D Helps so much!
Just had this pop up on my feed. Great reactions! Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
The incident with the dragon is a book, and movie trilogy, all its own. And its a blast too.
Hahahah you really were shook when Gandalf touched the ring 😂, gave me a good laugh, all love
I love ur reactions.. I mean this is just the buildup with setting the foundation and getting to know the characters and u are getting jumpscares
Sooo good. I saw this in theatres when I was a teenager and it has changed my world for ever.
I Never ever thought I will going to watching somebody watching my favourite films and enjoying it, thanks to you the old memories come back and really I enjoyed it, looking forward for the next Lord Of The Rings film :)
I love this movie so much, peak childhood nostalgia for me
Your life will be changed by these films.
Oh my, I love how immersed you get in this world and story! What a wonderful reaction ❤
I just discovered your channel today. I'm not even half way through this reaction & your jump scares have earned you a like and a sub. This trilogy is a masterpiece and arguably THE BEST MOVIE TRILOGY EVER MADE.
"The incident of the dragon" is a reference to Smaug, from Bilbo's adventure to the Lonely Mountain with the company of Thorin Oakenshield.
"To be honest, who wants to be set on fire?" LOL
Being a burn survivor myself, I can qualify that no one would! 😁😁
😢❤
Excited to see your journey through these! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
0:55 Yeah! I've been doing music theatre for 47 years. I'm playing Reverend Shaw Moore in _Footloose_ at the end of the month.
Yay! Google knows I love this movie I think. Looking forward to more of your reactions!
I'm a little behind on your videos so I will try to catch up. LOTR is one of my favorites. Really great reaction and commentary. Great facial expressions show complete involvement in the movie. Love the Hobbits. Looking forward to the next one. Take care
great reaction. And now you are one of us. Immersed in this incredible world. Can't wait for pt2.
9:59 😂😂😂😂 every body jumps in that scean
It gives me so much joy to see another reactor getting into lord of the rings!
OMG, so excited you are reacting to this trilogy. You are in for a ride! By the way your reactions are always so cute!! Thanks and keep smiling 🤘 🙂
The 3 Hobbit movies were trash!
Great start! Subscribed as I am convinced you are going to be appreciative of this world we love. Onward....
your Jumps are Hilarious hahahaha everything spooks you.
35:20. So very exceptional so far, and I’m sure to come! Excellent reaction!
I've seen few people to notice how "heavy" is the ring when Bilbo lets it go.
9:40 production note: When Bilbo drops the Ring, there is a magnet under the floor so that it won't bounce.
I am subscribed and looking forward to this journey! These are my favorite movies of all time! I love your reaction!
Such a brilliant series of movies. I'm loving your reactions!
This has been probably my favorite reaction or is all the ones I’ve seen
I am so glad you're reacting to this!
"Mother Trucker"... bwahahahaha...I'm only halfway through and I can't express how much I'm enjoying your reaction.
More of a Dune fan myself
You’re fun and I can’t wait to see you experience this whole trilogy. Subbed!
Literally every reactor when Boromir says the thing:
"That's a meme!"
Is it just me or is your sound obliterated/muted for the first like few minutes???
Just found this channel, Addie has got the be the most adorable reaction content maker on yt. Funny little slip at 10:00
I'm a simple man, instant subscribe for LOTR reactions - yours was great! Can't wait to see more 🙂
