    About to tackle this on my 1998 Scamp. Appreciate the tips! Went with the Meguires One Step Compouind and their Premium Marine Wax.

    Your little Scamp looks great after the polish job.

    my 2006 scamp 16 has lots of rivets with covers.. how did you handle those? Just go around them? Thanks.

    • @shaunwilkens

      The plastic buttons on mine had all worn away so I didn’t need to avoid them. I probably would try to avoid them if you have them.

    Just did this on my scamp. Did the rust stains from the hardware under your front window go away when you were cutting and then polishing, or did you do something else to get rid of those?

    • @shaunwilkens
      @shaunwilkens  2 года назад +2

      @Shane Canale I used some Star Brite rust stain remover and that helped a little. The cutting definitely helped too. Just spent more time in those areas.

    Dang look at those results! How much does it cost to have it done somewhere?

    • @shaunwilkens
      @shaunwilkens  2 года назад

      Thanks dude! I didn’t reach out to many professionals but I think it would cost at least $600 at the low end but more likely in the $1000 range

    How do you know if you have to buff or can you just wax?

    • @shaunwilkens
      @shaunwilkens  Год назад

      You could try waxing a section first and see how it looks. I just knew that my scamp had years of neglect and needed a buffing.

      @@shaunwilkens About to jump in I think. I'm thinking the best tip in your video is the caution about masking the black painted window frames. I would have jumped in without masking them and would have spent hours trying to paint them with black paint. I already bought a 3-M 1-2 compound + polish so I'll find out how that works. Did you rent scaffolding or work off a ladder? Nice job on your video. Thank you.

    Did the polishing effect the scamp lettering ?

    • @shaunwilkens
      @shaunwilkens  Год назад

      I was fairly careful around the lettering so it stayed in good shape. It’s definitely a risk though

      @@shaunwilkens Thank you We just purchased a 1993 which is very chalky. I'm hoping to get the same result or close that you did. I am also going to use the same awning as you. Thank you for your content I will keep watching!
