    LOVE this video! I have had a scamp for years and have my own hacks, but I ended up buying the cargo nets and shoe organizers while watching...thank you!

      Well thank you! I am so glad you found something useful in it. The shoe organizers are a game changer for sure. Hope you enjoy em as much as I do.

    Some neat hacks. Ditto on the command hooks. We've got a 16 layout 6. We found a paper towel holder that the roll fits snugly onto it and still allows to pull towels off without unrolling going down the road. I use a small bowl for my dish water and run a trickle of hot water for rinsing (off when not rinsing). We run with the fresh water tank full and to counter the weight I added another battery and propane bottle to the tongue. Happy Scamping

      You're lucky. I think the counter space in the 16 makes dishes easier. In my 13, there is nowhere to set the dishes once washed and before dried. It makes it difficult if other dirty dishes are on the stove top.
      Have you had any issues with the straps around your freshwater tank from running it with all that weight in there?

    • @sandradunn7547
      @sandradunn7547 11 месяцев назад +1

      No issues. Since we leave the rear dinette set up as a bed I cut a hole in the end so I could easily check the level in it and inspect it for an issues. @@BackcountryDirtbag

    I don't have a Scamp, but my husband and I are refurbishing a 15 foot camper and need all the knowledge in storage and organization I can find. Great ideas and tips here, thanks for making this video!

    This is fantastic thank you, love these ideas! Also something I use while camping are the blue shop towels, its super windy where I live and they stay rolled tightly, so they might work while travelling down the road. Also I do this at home too but if the paper towel just had clean water on it you can let them dry and use to wipe up spills or other things so they arent just single use and done. Habe a great rest of your week and weekend ahead!

    Fun watching your video and seeing many of the hacks we learned over time ,
    Mostly trial and error! Didn’t know about the bathroom door lock! Our 16 ft Scamp is a 2020, so not sure we have the same door lock, will have to look! We have cargo nets and hooks everywhere lol! We also use small tension rods in the fridge during travel. Love reflectix as well!
    Awesome job! 😀

    For me, I keep the stabilizer jack in the back of the tow vehicle since I have to open the hatch when I am setting up the trailer. That's where the leveling items are too. Then I don't have to go into the camper and unlock the door and then inside to open the cabinet. I always return it to the trunk before I shut the hatch. Good idea to tape the lock on the bathroom. Love the collapsable sink containers.

    those cable holders is a awesome hack! We use a power drill for the our stabilizers, but I want to hold on to my manual wrench for emergencies and your mounting options may be right solution! We don't have a scamp but a small no slide travel trailer and I find the Scamps, and tear drop owners are VERY clever with there spaces.
    Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for watching and leaving a positive comment! Us tiny trailer club members gotta stick together. Goodness knows there isn't enough space for everything without a whole lot of creativity. Hope that solution works well for you and safe travels out there.

      @@BackcountryDirtbag We probably have a "mansion" when compared to a scamp (GD 21BHE) but the biggest struggles is my 65lb dog and a preschooler. They have a LOT of stuff :D
      We have a 30 day, 5,000 mile trip coming up this summer and I am trying to plan as much as possible. We camp 2-3 nights frequently- and did an 18 day trip last year but left the dog with grandma and grandpa.
      While I'm working um listening to as many tips as I can... my amazon list is growing..

      @@thathomemademom hahaha so relatable 😆 we don't have kids but we have gone across the country twice with a goldendoodle puppy.
      I don't have a video with my dog tips out yet, but I did write a whole in-depth article about my best dog tips and tricks. If you want to add even more to that Amazon list you can find the article here: scamperlife.com/2023/12/17/scamping-with-your-adventure-dog/

      @@BackcountryDirtbag Thanks for sharing that blog post! One of my favorite things is mushers secret!
      Super tips. I've been working on a make shift 50ft leash tied up to trees for a "dog run" but I was looking for a better solution- and the knot a hitch is too short.. and too expensive. Thanks for that link!
      We picked up trail running (walking for me) as a hobby and I would love to bring my dog with me (Vizsla) but I worry if he gets hurt (snake bite, sliced paw, slips on something) what to do.... your emergency harness is brilliant! I just did my first 10k - my husband 50k and I know I could not carry my boy out with just my arms. It's not going on the June camping list - but it will be going on my race day list.
      Looking forward to the rest of your content!

    Question: Now that you have had the toilet paper holder for a while, I'm wondering if you have found that it keeps your TP dry even while using the shower. Thank you for your reply. I keep pausing your video(s), to click the amazon links you have posted! Lots of great stuff in my cart :-). I found your channel while reading comments in a fb group called Women Who Scamp. SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL! Your videos are extremely informative and you get to the point and give all the information needed without rambling on for 90 minutes. I wish I could give you more insight but I still haven't used the shower in my Scamp. I prefer to just go for a swim or use the campground facilities.
      But I can say it does make a fantastic place to set a phone down to ensure it doesn't fall into the black tank. I use it for that every single time.

    Love your ideas and thank you for being so clear in your speech. We just purchased our 16 ft Scamp. My question, what mattress did you use. We plan on leaving our bed up all the time. We also would like to have 4 to 6 inches. Thank you in advance.

      Thanks for the kind comment and congrats on your 16! So far I've had a 6 in memory foam mattress topper cut to fit on top of the Scamp cushions but I'm not super happy with that solution.
      I've got something in the works that I think will change the game for Scamp owners. It could take a min to make it happen but I'll be sure to post a video about it when it does. Subscribe so you don't miss it!

    I love these hacks. The one for the jack tool I’m going to steal! Question, my 13 is a 2023, and I’m wondering if they lined the sides of the tall cabinet by the bed? Mine isn’t and this is the stinkiest cabinet! The odor is unreal but so is the off-gassing in general. It seems unfinished without the headliner.

    • @BackcountryDirtbag
      @BackcountryDirtbag  9 месяцев назад

      I am really glad you found these hacks useful! Just make sure to mount that jack tool centered enough to clear the cabinet when the door closes.
      My narrow storage near the bed only has the Scamp fur in the back, too. I let it air out and it eventually cleared out. But I am glad the sides are exposed since I want to build shelves in there to maximize storage. More room and easier to install without fur on the sides.
